Good food but delivery times are appalling. Ordered at 5.50pm & the food arrived after 9pm with no apology. Had paid online which was a mistake or I would have asked them to take it back.

Have used 3 times now. Didn't report before but this is third time similar terrible service. Tonight's experience. Made order by email. 6pm. Advised wait time 80 minutes. No problem. Now 140 minutes and counting. Quicker to go to China for it. When you get the grub, it's not bad, But the service is singularly lousy. No good phoning. I think they take it off the hook.

All the reviews seem to be about terrible service but I’ve never had any issues. Been ordering from this takeaway since moving to the area in 2022 and genuinely never had any issues. Food has always arrived on time give or take sometimes a few minutes late however it is always piping hot. Can’t believe the amount of bad reviews this place has got as I have always had a good experience.

Brilliant food let down by poor service and even poorer delivery service. Waited 2 hours for our meals, which other takeaways have delivered in 30 minutes. Worth the drive to go get it though!

Lies lies & lies and even more lies, 3 hours after ordering and no food, very happy to take prepaid food orders but not deliver them, after hours of trying to contact the takeaway (always engaged) they lied even further and said it’s on its way? Where’s it coming from China? Great food but awful communication, I’m sorry the food is great but everything else is poor this week is our last order!

Been using this takeaway for years but will never again. Food ordered at 17:50 online (PAID) confirmation received stating 7:10pm delivery. 9:10pm and still no order. Phone line busy since 7:20pm, obviously taken off the hook. Absolutely terrible service, made worse that you can't even contact to find out if food is coming.

The order was accepted on the website. The money was taken. No food was delivered despite ordering before 7 p.m.—it's now 9.25 p.m. I tried to contacting them several times, and they just kept hanging up.

1st time I’ve used them in about 10 years and I won’t be back for another 10. Delivery quoted at an hour which Saturday night I get it can be busy - took over 2 hours to come. Called after an hour and was told he was just cooking meal now give him 15 minutes and it still took another 30 minutes to come. was literally about to call back to say don’t bother when the driver pulled up. Food was nice and portions good but not nice enough I’d wait 2 hour for it again.

Been ordering for 6 years. Recently the delivery has been awful. Ordered at 6.05, due 7.20....still waiting at 8.10. Been told he has delivery issues, sorry not our problem. Food always amazing but delivery diabolical and they lie when you ring.

I’ve been a customer for quite some time and the food is ok but Honestly unless you stop fobbing people off on the phone and actually start delivering food in decent time these reviews will get far worse ! If you can’t deliver in reasonable time don’t accept the order , change your delivery methods for goodness sake . It really does appear you don’t care and very rude on the phone , you will care when everyone stops ordering . Not good business management , seems they have no idea what they are doing ! sort yourselves out !

We ordered tonight at 6 o’clock it is 9 o’clock now. we are now 3 hours in and we have phoned 5 times and still no food. If we had not ordered online and payed already I would of cancelled 🙄

Called to order a takeaway at 6.20pm, I was told up to an hour and a half wait for delivery. I called again at 8.15pm to be told it will be 15mins. Half an hour later we are still waiting. DO NOT USE THIS TAKEAWAY, customer service is a joke.

The best Chinese around Skelmanthorpe, Scissett, Denby Dale and probably West Yorkshire. As such it does get busy. Home delivery available, allow 90 minutes. Takes a while to get through on the phone. Food is amazing. Good selection Vegetarian and vegan options available. Parking next door, very small car park

Just recently moved to the area, and this actually one of the best Chinese I've ever had, really reasonably priced too.

Absolutely discussing!! Would never order from here again. Orders food at 5:30 and was told 45-1 hour, rang after at 6:40 was told another 25mins! I said I’m not paying for delivery when your this late he said no you can pay all if it so I ended up cancelling the order. Very very rude !! Wouldn’t recommend ever !!

I've been getting takeaways from Jen Bao for 3 years now. My first rating of 4 stars had been upgraded to 5 stars as the food keeps getting better and better. There's a great variety and everything I've tried so far has been spot on. Phone manner is a little clipped but that's so that your order is taken correctly.

The worst delivery I have ever experienced, as a normal if you order online on a Saturday night it takes 3 hours minimum for delivery and all you get when you ring the shop is bull sh1t. If it wasn't the nearest Chinese it would be out of business simply based on its sh1t delivery times.

Absolutely love the food and service! Travel 20mins for this Chinese & Wouldn’t go anywhere else. Always busy but never had a problem so don’t mind any wait if there ever is one, order in good time and you won’t have a problem either.

Very nice Chinese food. Saw the reviews which talked about delivery times so we collected instead. Had no issues. Food and service were both fantastic. Reviews are unfairly harsh on this takeaway to be honest.

We live a 5 minute drive from Skelmanthorpe. We had special chow mein and wings and spring rolls etc.Excellent Chinese food though. Spot on. But with the amount of time we waited it left you feeling starving and moody. Had to ring them up twice to ask where the food was and he said an extra 20 mins when it was already 15 mins after its due time. He said "don't expect it to be spot on'. It wasn't spot on at all, an hour late. Fairly rude to be honest as well when I rang up, almost like it was effort to speak to a customer and not very helpful. When food arrived I asked ‘do I get a discount for waiting more than I should have?’ The delivery driver rudely looked behind him and back at me and said ‘are you talking to me? I’m just the delivery driver mate’. Very good food though, would recommend definitely if you went in to get your order, probs 5 stars then.

Ordered food .. was quoted 30 mins .. In the one it took at least two hours for delivery … trang every 15 minutes after an hour went by with excuse after excuse.. just kept lying saying it had just left… my advice … go elsewhere ain’t worth the wait

We always order via their website and had no issues with delivery times. food is always hot, it can be a bit too much for those who don't like saltiness! Also, their salt and pepper chips are one of the best i have had!

Food is good as always, but why do I have to collect it from the drivers car? Just because I live in a first-floor flat, are they incapable of walking up stairs? I paid for delivery so why don't they deliver? Is this every order or just because they can't be bothered?

Good food as per but 3 hours to deliver and then not even an apology! Sorry, but this place is dreaming if they think they can turn up with food after that amount of waiting for it! Won’t be using again.

Always get Chinese takeaway from here even though we don’t live that close as the food is always good. Better if you can drive to pick up. Chicken satay skewers are the best!

Always consistently great. I have never had a bad meal from there, unlike a lot of Chinese takeaways the meals are not over seasoned with salt. Plenty of chicken in their chicken fried rice. Crispy beef is fantastic and the Duck in plum sauce is amazing. The gentleman who takes our orders is always friendly and very accommodating. I would highly recommend a takeaway from Jen Boa.

Been going here for years and love it. Im redoing my review from 3 years ago. This is the only chinese we go to, its always hot when it arrives to as and we dont live that close. The food has always been amazing and never had an item missed. They usually arrive on time, if not 10 minutes late (again we dont live close) I love their chicken vermicelli. Its my fave now, i used to order the Set Meal 1A which is also great. Cant go wrong with this place

Really poor service we ordered our food at 7pm and were told it would be 8.30 delivery. We called again just after 8.30 and were told another 30 mins. Then at 9.30 we called again and told it was on its way. It arrived at 10 pm!! The food was hot and good when it arrived but this service was unacceptable.

Salt and pepper chicken has too much salt and one slice of pepper, ok sauce was sweeter than most other places to the point of being sickly. Curry tastes fine. Just fine. Nothing more. Delivery took between 1.5-2 hours yet somehow still arrived hot. Mains don't come with fried rice. Worth a try, but not much more.

Ordered on line. Delivery was almost an hour late. I rang a couple of times, they sounded busy. Anyway, the food arrived. It was hot and of a really good quality. The BBQ ribs, in sauce, were some of the best we've ever had. The sweet and sour King prawns were lovely as was the szachuan chicken. Apart from the slow delivery, would recommend!

The food is so good from here, it’s always hot and arrives on the time you request . If using ASAP the estimate is always right. I do not understand the low stars as we have never had any problems. The portion size is also very big

So what can I say very disappointed every time I order there is always one item that's not so good usually the chips !! So last time and the time before that were like they had been put in the microwave to reheat limp and really dry but every now and again they can suprise me I ordered again this evening and I really fancied some chips to go with my curry sauce and other things I Had ordered to go with it ,the chips came excatly the same as last time !But I always order the salt and pepper chicken this time was so so dry like it had been recooked three times !I don't normally write reviews like this unless really necessary but I'm not happy and kind of glad I will be moving away as I wouldn't be ordering from there again and I wouldn't know we're the nearest one would be close to around here real shame for anyone else !!

I will start review by saying: The food from this Chinese is by far the best I have tasted.all dishes are amazing.well seasoned, well prepared, and packaged, highly recommended, really lovely.

The food is always good and hot! The takeaway is one of few in the area so can understand that the delivery times can be slightly delayed however after using them for just over a year you adjust and order your food earlier then you want it! The man who answers the phone is a lovely gentleman and he will answer any queries you may have, as for the delivery driver, I’m not sure if they have multiple but there’s an Asian guy who delivers for them who is one of the rudest people I have ever met hence the minus of one star, he is impatient and very rude and expects you to be at the door as soon as he gets there, doesn’t even knock or ring the bell & then calls you after being there for precisely 15 seconds and gets aggressive down the line, now if it was a one time occurrence I could let it slide but after it happening multiple times to me and my partner i feel this is something that needs to be changed because it’s making me rethink ordering again.

Ordered online at 18.20 for delivery finally arrived at 21.15 after multiple attempts to get though on the phone finally got an answer with “driver will be there in a minute.” No apology and quite rude. When it did turn up some of the order was missing. Tried here a few times now thought maybe having an off day but this will definitely be the last time.

Just moved into the area and what can I say food is amazing

Do not buy from this place. We have ordered here 3 times given 3 chances but gradually every time got worse. The noodles are completely dry overcooked and a weird flavour that makes you feel sick I can't describe. Grey meat chewy, inedible and very off-putting. I have never tasted "food" like it. The delivery time took 2 and a half hours for what? Had one mouthful and now £35 worth of food thrown in the bin as this food isn't right. Will be taking this to the food standards as this establishment needs assessing. We will probably have food poisoning and will never evr go here again. STAY AWAY. And what a rip off prices.

Ordered last Friday online and paid for. Selected time of 6.30 (placed order at 4.45). Still hadn't arrived at 7.00 and when I rang up at 7.00 was given a lecture about what to expect living so far away in Upper Denby. It did arrive eventually and was luke warm. Not first time this has happened but it will be the last!

Unsure to why this place has such a low star rating. We have been ordering from here for years, as a vegetarian the tofu is delicious and there is always a wide variety of fresh veggies in our meals. The fried noodles are so yummy! Keep it up...

Ordered several times over the years. Is this under new management? Took an hour and three quarters (quoted 50 mins) and not even an "I'm sorry for the delay" from the driver. Food cold and left most of it. Oh well, time to find another local.

Foods never right. Chicken is always fatty and chewy. Can't even manage to make are order in an hour and a half even though we have paid online for it. Now I have to order from a better restaurant that can look after customers and cook food on time. Odd time I wouldn't mind but this must be the 3rd or 4th time!!

Firstly when ordering the person on the phone was getting very annoyed that I wanted my order delivering, he was very impatient and unprofessional on the phone too. After a long wait, our food finally arrived and the delivery driver could not have been more disgusting if he tried. We paid in coins which he had a paddy about and said if we paid with coins again he will refuse to give us our order. He spoke to us in a very degrading way and became quite aggressive. Although the food was nice I will not be returning here

Great food, we ordered OK Crispy Chicken with Salt & Pepper chips, very tasty. We ordered on their online website. All reviews said delivery is slow, but we ordered probably about 5:30pm on a Sunday and it only took about 40 minutes. It sounds like at busy days at busy times e.g Saturday night their delivery service is slower but that’s probably to be expected. Will be using them again in the future.

24th Sept 21- Ordered food at 19.20 hours online. Email said delivery would be 20.35, left it till 21.20 then called, staff apologised and said it would be there in 15 minutes, 30 minutes later still no food. Called back and advised it would be there in 1 minute, didn’t arrive during the phone call so cancelled the order. 10 minutes later the order arrived. Driver said he’d just been given it. Usually decent food but I am not prepared to wait over 2 hours. My advice is that if you order you phone as soon as it doesn’t arrive on time.

Delivery times are an absolute joke and the staff could give a s**t. If you want to wait for over 2 hours for food this is the place for you.
