Very poor experience, ordered 2 main courses 1 meat spinach, 1 fish, tasted fish curry and wasnt fish, asked owner and he said he must have written it down wrong he didnt ven examine the dish, no offer to change curry, I assume they had no fish? When it came to the bill the "fish" curry was full price, I questioned this and owner said he would knock £5 off as we had eaten some.. we tasted 1 spoon each (2 of us)then left it. I can see why on Saturday at 9.30 no one else was in the curry house and the other Brighouse curry house Royal Delhi was full.. Avoid at all costs.

Very poor quality, and certainly would not return. The mixed starter was poor, chewy meat, the texture was like gristle, told the staff, but nothing changed!! Would have been happy with a replacement but nothing offered!! The main was disappointing, very chewy hard chicken. All in all, not a good experience.

First time for us at this curry house. Will certainly be going back. Had a mixed starter (Kebab x 2 and onion bhaji) all great, would get again. Tarka daal and chicken dhansak for mains with a peshwari naan, the daal was spot on (one of the best we have had). Dhansak just right, not a massive portion but any more would have been wasted on us. Lots of sauce, better than not enough!! All in all a lovely meal at £23 for the two of us. Will certainly be back to try more of the menu.

Tried a takeaway recently as not had a takeaway from here for a couple of years. Onion bhajis are GORGEOUS! Chicken pakoras nice. My husband's curry tasted lovely but could do with more meat as lots of sauce. Will definitely have a takeaway again from here.

After 20 loyal years here we have loved the food quality, but all our takeaways in 2022 were below average. The rich thick aromatic curry sauses have been switch to industrial bland soup and the once thick with onion and tomato balti is now just a sause with chicken thrown in. Worse still we have had 6 different curry now over the last 4 visits and all my family said they were way too salty.

I see some positive reviews on here and wonder if these people were hypnotised. It was poor. Wanted to go to the Royal Delhi, but it was full and at least 20 people queueing, do gave this place a try. Barely three full tables on a Satur6dsy at 8pm; this should have rung alarm bells, but we persevered. Friendly staff and efficient service, just terrible food. Gloopy, unappealing starters and mains. Unsure how it keeps going - probably drunken people staggering out of the Calder, having lost their tastebuds. Wont be back!

The food was very good but I suspect we ate too late as the place was full of yobs. Lots of swearing and shouting. The staff were obviously used to this and seamed oblivious to it. Went here with my daughter early on a Saturday, place was very quiet and now I know why. This was probably the worst curry I have ever had in my life. It was horrible.Service was good and staff attentive but that can't make up for the bad food. The Shami Kebab I had was like a dried out beefburger, dry and not at all tasty. I can't remember the name of the curry but I wouldn't want to.My wife was polite and said she didn't like it very muchAnd, it wasn't particularly cheap either.I hope never to go back.

i love curries but this place takes 5 stars for the worst food ever. they do not use spice in anything, the starters are like eating plain mince meat shaped like a flat burger or a sausage, that's what it is like eating these starters, the onion bhaji's were full of grease, salad is not fresh, the cucumber was yellow, ordered a lamb balti and a chicken balti which again had no spice or kick to it, but these were balti's were nothing like what you would expect, it's like they throw anything in and call it what they want, this food was awful , truly it was, i have had spicier pot noodles than the rubbish they sold us, i will never order from here again, it is that bad.

Nunca me he encontrado personal más brusca o peor comida. Mi consejo sería que, sin duda, no volveremos.

Porque comer curry Madras caliente, algunos lugares creo que no será notado si la carne pobre me gustaría sirve, creo que es por desgracia fue el caso con nuestro favorito para llevar parecía nos sirven de rata o algún animal, muy molesto experiencia! Cuando nos llamó para decir cortésmente que nos insatisfecho, mi marido estaba tratado tan grosera que hemos tenido más remedio que nunca a este lugar. The Bengal Brasserie is ok if your wanting a cheap curry as you can get four courses for £10. However if your wanting something different with plenty of herbs and spices then I would not recommend this restaurant. The curries are quite plain and seem to lack in flavour. I could imagine that most of their trade comes from people who have been out and had a few drinks and want some food at the end of the night.

I've been eating Indian food for over thirty years. From the curry mile in Manchester, to sampling Bradfords delights. Although I appreciate there are different styles of Indian cooking dependant of where in India the dish evolved. ..and.... Western Indian cooking is very different from food you would sample in India...however, I have never tasted such a bland, tasteless offering than what we ate tonight. The sauce had no depth and no heat. Even though one dish was supposed to be medium hot ( it was milder than the average medium). The sauce tasted like it had been boiled up 30 mins before service. Yes you want a freshly prepared dish. But the base sauce should have depth and surely that takes time as well as spice to create. Also all three dishes we ordered tasted very similar. The base sauce had clearly been used in all and not adapted much in either. By far the most disappointing Indian meal I have ever tried, and to me an insult to the English palate.

I ordered take away from here (to share with family) as I was craving something spicy, and didnt get anything of the sort. All up i ordered 1 lamb vindaloo (supposedly one of the hottest curries), 1 chicken Balti and 1 lamb korma (a mild curry) along with a garlic naan and a few plain ones. The naan - the garlic one had no noticeable garlic taste so it could have been a plain one for all I knew (none of the others had flavour either) and was average. Lamb korma - this was not a korma... I dont know what they put in it but it was a thick (gluggy) yellowish colour that tasted more like oranges than a korma. It had minimal flavour and the lamb was questionable on whether or not it should be eaten. Chicken Balti - this was OK. Not much flavour to it either though . Was put off slightly by the fact that although there was no flavour under the sauce, the chicken was a nasty green colour (am hoping this was just the marinade! !!)Lamb vindaloo - this was not a vindaloo either. It was a pile of red mush (not spicy) with 5 small scattered pieces of lamb and one half of a potato. Overall I did not enjoy the meal and won't be returning.

I have passed this restaurant many times, but never called in, until the other night. We were out with friends in Brighouse and as we were all hungry, someone suggested the Bengal Brasserie, and I'm so glad they did. I have to be honest, I'm picky when it comes to Indian restaurants as I've had so many bad experiences in the past. I need not have worried, this one has been put on my 'Must go again' list. The outside gives you no idea what a little gem this restaurant is. The atmosphere is welcoming as are the staff, who are also efficient and friendly. Our meal proved to be very tasty with none of the nasty side effects such as a burning mouth, but full of flavour and plenty of it. We all agreed the meal was excellent and great value for money.I have since heard that the Bengal has been there for years! Well it might have taken me a while to find it, but it's now definitely on my list of great curry houses.

Situated on Huddersfield Road in Brighouse opposite Sainsbury’s, you could easily and incorrectly assume that it’s nothing more than a takeaway from street view. The brasserie hasn’t got what estate agents call curbside appeal. However, put that to one side and venture through the door and the Bengal Brasserie is positively tardis like.Walk through the door and you’re into the small comfortable reception area with seating and finger nibbles on the tables. Next to this is the compact bar with plenty of selection of alcohol and soft drinks. The rest of the brasserie and I do mean the rest, is laid out for diners with a very unusual ceiling. The ceiling looks more like the hull of several ships moored to one another...very different but nor does it make you feel claustrophobic. We were warmly welcomed by Ali Turab who has been the Bengal’s manager for 5 years and it is always pleasant to see that the welcome offered isn’t simply because we were there to review the restaurant. We saw the same enthusiastic welcome extended to other diners.Monday night in Brighouse, the day we went to carry out the review, was ghost-town like with even Sainsbury’s car park looking empty at 7pm. It therefore came as no surprise that for the majority of the evening Brighouse remained quiet and as a result, so did the brasserie. We’re certainly not going to judge the restaurants’ popularity on what was a very quiet night for the entire town. There was a steady stream of customers but as Ali confirmed, Monday us usually their very quiet night. So let us leave the quiet behind us and concentrate on the food. The short version is this, if you like Indian food and are hungry come in and be well fed. If you’re a small eater then prepare yourself to take home the venerable doggy bag. For those that know me I’m the former but even I was outpaced by the quantity. So often you can judge value for money only by quantity with quality taking a back seat. Certainly what Nikki and I ordered Ali and his team seem to have found that elusive balance between value whilst offering more than generous portions. For example, recently I ate at an Indian restaurant in Swansea. Typically for a main course I choose a lamb dish but in the Swansea restaurant it had the texture of an old leather shoe...horrid. The chefs at the Bengal Brasserie though cooked two lamb dishes to utter melt-in-your-mouth perfection and restored my faith. Some people just don’t know how to get it right whilst other make it appear effortless. Our starters consisted of the Royal mix kebab and 2 Samosas. Both were delightfully flavoured, piping hot and left us talking enthusiastically and waiting expectantly for our main course. For our main course we ordered the Mughal E Azam, three curries cooked separately and Nikki had the Makhani King Prawn with both dishes including pilau rice and the Mughal also with a naan. When they arrived shocked wasn’t even close to how we felt. The Mughal was in fact three full sized curries, I was expecting taste tickling sized portions, but no. Nikki’s Makhani arrived in what looked like a medium sized lasagne dish, piping hot and sprinkled lightly with cheese. Again, for one portion it was a large portion. It will come as no surprise then that we skipped dessert. We had a coffee, loosened our belts, heaved a contented sigh of relief, thanked out generous hosts and waddled out of the restaurant with our doggy bag in hand. It was at this point that we were thankful that Brighouse was quiet otherwise we could have been given grief for how we walked/waddled back to the car!For you lucky Brighouse residents, the Bengal Brasserie is open 7 days a week, does a takeaway service and will deliver for free on order over £12 within three miles. And if we awarded stars out of 5 I’d award 4 for the restaurant and I’d be taking the last one home in a doggy bag.

After a bracing walk around part of Digley Dam this was an ideal stop off to satisfy healthy appetites. It wasn't particularly busy so my friend and I were fortunate to select a table by the window to sample views of the surrounding countryside that the area is famous for. We both chose the regular Fish & Chips, good value at £12 though smaller portions are available at £9.50. My friend's Side Salad cost £4 which I thought expensive for what he received while a side order of Mushy Peas set him back £2. I thought the drinks were expensively priced, £2.90.for a pint of Fanta Orange but we'd visited for the Fish & Chips and these were delicious so it was definitely worth the effort. The menu is quite extensive so there are plenty of alternatives to satisfy most appetites and palates. A good experience.

We were so looking forward to our romantic valentine's evening. Sadly the previous reviewer has said most of it for us. Extortionately expensive, to be honest, for actually a less than mediocre meal which was not particularly enjoyable. It was obvious, from the occasional groans, the that something was very very wrong in the kitchen, even though front of house staff attemped to cover the cracks with gracious service. Also, yes it was far too cold. Have had lunch several times in this beautiful building, which have been very pleasant, although they really do need to sort out the heating problem.
