Thought we would try this place out not impressed with the overall experience of food the Sunday dinners beef not great nor the service waiter/staff took telling over 3 times for desserts had to wait over 30 mins for just brownies in the end just had to say cancel it too much time for something that take a couple of minutes to do the next day most of the family had upset stomachs wouldn’t recommend this place unless the service of communication to the cook and food standard is more on point than mediocre presentation we were compensated some money off the desserts but even the brownies are nothing different that shop bought similarities and tight portions to say the least the differences between kids to adults sizes not by much. To say the least and the only major positive was the decor of the overall place well set out looks inviting at least.

Went for lunch out first choice was unavailable so I ordered the lamb rump very disappointed with the meal would expect much better for £18.95. Then although we had joined the ego club which is supposed to give you 25% discount during the week we were told we couldn’t have the discount without a code even though the email we had clearly stated you just had to show the email to receive it.

This is my second visit to this very nice restaurant, on this occasion for our Wedding Anniversary. My Husband had a chicken and chorizo hanging kebab with fries which he thoroughly enjoyed, I had a pepperoni pizza, very nice. The service was very good. There is a full bar and they have numerous food and drink offers throughout the week. Would certainly recommend and will return in the near future.

We visited on a Sunday at 6.30pm and was surprised to be told that the Sunday menu had now finished The place was not full but we were placed on the upper level which was cold. We mentioned this to the waitress who said other customer had also commented on this. In retrospect which should have asked for a table in the main area but it still begs the question why we were placed up there or why the fire had not been lit.. Having said all that the food and the service was good and we will go again

We came for my father in laws birthday. It was steak night and they had ran out of a few steaks. We had to ask to move seats as we were near the door and was drafty. The staff were friendly. Food was good. Service okay. We ordered pudding, some came then we had to ask for the rest as half an hour had gone by. The coffee we ordered had been left on the bar and by the time we got it, it was cold so had to get them to bring more. I've been to an ego before near by and was really good. This not as much but would give it another try

Very classy joint! This was my first visit to Ego at Horbury, we've been to their restaurant at Ackworth a few times and love it, so hoped this would be as good, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is new, fresh, spacey and comfortable, very inviting and relaxing. Staff are similarly relaxed and efficient, no mistakes and no messing about. Just what you need for a thoroughly good night out. The menu is varied and I doubt anyone would have a problem finding something to suit, whatever their taste. We were a party of eight (including vegetarians) and nobody had any complaints. Prices are average. Highly recommended, we'll be back again soon.

My first visit but two of us had been many times before. We started with a bottle of Prosecco with 4 mis matched champagne flutes !We then ordered the starters - Garlic Mushrooms were declared to be delicious, Deep Fried Brie Wedges were also superb but the Goats Cheese Tart had far too much pastry.Mains - Steak Pie and Chips and vegetables was fine, Double Boneless Pork Loin Steaks was good and so was the Scampi but the Beef and Mushroom Stroganoff was most unpleasant - tough meat and a sour sauce - it was too late to order anything else as we had waited 30 minutes after we had the starters for the mains to arrive - the place was not exactly busy. The staff were very helpful with two dietary problems.None of us had dessert but opted for coffee which was served with mints.I would describe the food as Pub Grub but at restaurant prices - not good value for money.I would not recommend this Pub.

Used to be a great place to eat but changed hands this year and unfortunately the standard has dropped. We have tried it 3 times since the change but it had not improvedWe were a party of 6 today, 3 had the fish and chips. It was dried up and the very small amount of fish inside was totally dried out. It was taken away and a 'fresh' one brought in no time. This one was even worse but the staff told us it was fine. The gentleman at the next table had the same and he also sent his back saying it was inedible

It would seem on Sunday you have to book, so sorry I don't live locally and know this .......however they suddenly manged to find a table for us so we thought our luck was in .......couldn't have been more wrong ,we only wanted a Sunday roast ordered the turkey the better half ordered roast beef and my son order roast ham after a long wait our meals came my sons ham looked ok with the ham a Yorkshire pudding and potatoes and other veg came in a separate dish ....all Good you may think but on closer inspection the potatoes consisted of two small new potatoes and one single roast potatoe the beef arrived with only one roast potatoe to be seen anywhere the turkey was much like the ham with three yes three whole potatoes oh what a treat .......requested the missing new potatoes and out came the missing two ........so at last there we were with our meager offerings plonked down in front of us ...... remember we had waited sometime for our meals ....our problem now was how to eat them ....yes you guessed it no cutlery so had to ask for that ......all in all probably the best part was the Yorkshire pudding, rest was bland won't be going again

Looking outside the place, all looks nice which sets expectations high! However, couldn't be more wrong. Very poor service all round, food was very poor, staff looked sick of their lives and didn't look after customers. We waited 45 mins for our starters to arrive which were terrible, even longer for mains which were even worse and deserts.. Well by that time I'd gone grey. They did however take one of the meals off for lack of service. So on that basis, I'll give it 2 stars. Wouldn't be returning here

Living locally, we have visited The Bulls Head many times and have had some lovely meals. However, visiting for Sunday dinner today left us feeling that things have certainly gone downhill. The pub was quiet when we arrived. We were seated straight away. We ordered within 5 minutes after arriving and less than 5 minutes later our food had arrived (a bit worrying when my husband had ordered the Lamb Devonshire at £16!) We both felt that the food had simply been cooked in the microwave. The Sunday dinner was ok but nothing special. In fact, I cook a much nicer roast at home! The only vegetables served were broccoli and carrots which we had to ask for more of as we were given a small bowl to do 5 of us! One roast potato and one new potato each! The kids got as much as the adults. Oh and the stuffing was terrible. It had a doughy consistency and certainly hadn't been cooked in an oven. Such a shame as with a few tweaks this pub could go back to being the busy eatery that it once was. Improve the Sunday dinners and add something a bit different, ie cauliflower and broccoli cheese, spiced red cabbage, creamy mashed potato with the Sunday dinners. People want better than they can cook at home, not reheated, overpriced microwave rubbish!

I went to the Bulls head with my father for a meal, we were seated and served straight away this was great as it was a busy Saturday night. The food came out on hot plates and all appeared well, the chips were home cooked and the vegetables fresh with a bit of bite. Sadly my chicken was raw, the waitress was extremely apologetic and offered my something else I didn't take up this offer as I felt a little queasy. Money was knocked off our bill and lots of apologies made but a piece of chicken is not difficult to get right especially to a trained chef. The food as always was lovely. My partner had the steak pie with as he always does when we visit here, I had the Chicken Signature dish. I don't recall what my daughter had but all of the children's choices were something and chips which she didn't like, its about time that food establishments stopped assuming that all children will eat is chips mine much prefers mash and veg (I will request this next time as they are very accommodating like this).I found the service very slow which is great when you are out for a long relaxing lunch but when you have young children with you they do tend to get restless whilst waiting around. After asking for the dessert menu we were given the inclusive Sunday Lunch one, none of us had ordered of this menu, not a major problem as I got up and got one of the dessert boards but the desserts off the inclusive menu do tend to be smaller than the others and there is less choice

We visited this pub on a cold Saturday night with family. Very warm and welcoming, lovely fires lit around the pub. Staff very warm and friendly. Starters of prawn cocktail and chicken and bacon salad and nachos, all very good and generous portions. I had the pork medallions and they were very tasty, with a nice gravy and a pile of fluffy white mash, my partner had the steak pie, which he declared was the best he had eaten, so often steak pie is a big disappointment , upon taking the lid off hardly any meat .Not here, plenty of tender tasty meat and a nice crisp crust. I will be ordering this on a return visit., the meals all came with a plentiful supply of veg. To finish the meal we all had the cherry and almond tart, this very light and had plenty of flavour, it came with its own little pan of custard, a nice touch. The starter Yorkshire pudding very good, but the main course of steak pie not fit for a dog, over baked crust obviously kept warm under a grill for 3 days the chips 5 only supplied were not sufficient quality or quantity, veg cooked ok but will never return to this establishment again, so if you want a better steak pie try fray bentos it's cheaper and the crust doesn't nearly break your teeth.

Have visited the Bulls Head many times. The last two visits, November and early December we noticed that quite a few changes had been made to the menus. Not as many starters no salmon dish and the wonderful pate had been taken off so we were very restricted. As far as mains were concerned the last " signature chicken dish " consisted of a chicken breast in lots of cream, all other stated ingrediants were missing and it had little taste. The chunky chips, for our taste, are always greasy tasting as if the oil was not hot enough. Some other mains could do with more herbs added to give more taste as the quality of the food is excellent as are the portions. Sweet choice is also first class with good portions once again.Wine list is good for the Reds but the whites have little body. As far as other drinks are concerned, we do not like the choice of cider and lagers. Why, why do you not offer Strongbow or Magners cider and ice cold Fosters instead of San Miguel?

If you are looking for a straightforward menu of very good pub food then this is for you. The food is well presented with the nicely cooked vegetables on the side and good sized portions of main. It is a large fairly modern pub/restaurant with many areas to eat done in a solid oak 'oldie world' type style. The staff are very pleasant and kept busy. I believe it is advisable to book at busy periods. Not 5 stars because the number of puddings is relatively small. It is also a little bit pricey for some of the items on the menu (e.g. lamb shank) but strangely good value for others (gammon steak). All in all, if you are looking for a straightforward meal in pleasant surroundings then I would recommend this place. The restaurant should think more about offering / identifying gluten free alternatives on the menu

We had the homemade pate which was first class followed by the "homemade steak pie" This consisted of a suberb portion of really good quality steak, well cooked and absolutely no fat at all. There was a piece of shortcrust pastry on top and a separate dish of well presented vegatables. This was one of the best meals we have had in a long time and is a true classic in its preparation and quality. The staff were welcoming and the pub was well appointed with a warm atmosphere. I resisted the temptation of a rack of ribs asa starter like Josh as my appetite is no longer as good as his. I settled on thesoup. My steak was spot on with no waste at all. Josh had a very large chunk of lamb (not a shank but from higher up the leg), my wife had salmon. We were all too pogged after the main course to want a sweet. It was excellent food at a reasonable price. We had been there previously for my 70th birthday and also enjoyed the food on that occassion.

We arrived without a booking and after a couple of minutes we were shown to our table and handed menus. Unfortunately after that, we were left around 15-20 minutes and nobody came to take our order. Eventually we got drinks thank goodness but then the food must have been another half an hour before it arrived. My husband and I ordered turkish eggs and it was nice but all 4 eggs (my husband's and mind) were all over cooked. I wouldnt go if you are in a rush to be honest, it took almost an hour and a half from start to finish.

Visited on a very busy Sunday. They don’t take cards but you can do a bank transfer which is great as my hair cut and shave cost more than I expected. Got the bigger breakfast and a latte. A little bit of a wait for the food but it’s understandable due to how busy they was. Food was good. Exactly as it should be and by the time I had finished, I was ready to fall into a food coma. Would happily go back.
