The Lord Wilson in Kirklees

I watched someone get kicked out at 8pm because they was wearing a tracksuit? They had been there for over an hour and were there way before I even arrived at wetherspoons at 7pm. Staff are rude, and wouldn’t even let them finish the round of drinks they had paid for because “tracksuits equal criminal activity”.

It was a busy afternoon so probably busy with food but it was disappointing, chips were like they'd been sat there ages

Really good choice of ales at a low price, the toilets were on the same floor, so no 3 mile trek like most spoons. There was also a quiz on on Thursday night which was really good.

Couldn't fault the service on my visit to this spoons. I had a good guest ale: Valkyrie for £1.99. Small frontage to enjoy the sun and windows open fully to allow customers to get some sun when sitting near there.

Absolutely shocking food as I'm a chef and as been for the past 40 years I rated the food 1 as it was not good at all everything cold mushroom not cooked properly bacon over cooked sent me some more out it was like it was zapped threw the microwave beans cold the only thing I will say witch was nice was the sausage. I certainly will not be coming again unless there is a mass change to the food

Fantastic Wetherspoons, food hot and prompt, drinks cold and refreshing, prices very fair, staff lovely. What more can you ask for!

Love all wetherspoons, can always get a table when we go .we love the free drink offer when we buy a meal..We enjoy the food .The drinks and food are very reasonable priced .The bar is well stocked with every drink imaginable ....

An average Wetherspoons pub chain. Food isn’t as good and is more expensive than it used to be. Went for quiz night which was a bit overstimulating due to the noise of the full pub, loud music, mic not being great & the disco lights spinning around

I was out eating at lord Wilson Wetherspoons on Saturday , I was having a lovely time until I heard kitchen staff making lewd comments about another staff member they were working with this upset me as when I took a Quick Look at the kitchen I could see the comments were affecting the female staff member this is really disrespectful and unprofessional

Had a cask Jaipur yesterday. Absolutely tasteless, it was certainly not off, good head, but just no taste whatsoever for a 5.9 iPa. Clearly not good work in the cellar..

I have ordered just a full English breakfast and waited around 40min for the food and when it arrived it arrived cold. Not happy with the service at all

I’ve come in a few times. served by a handful of staff members some are really nice however there’s certain ones including the blonde one that has appeared to be rude each time at first i just thought maybe she was having a bad day like we all have however each time for being rude without a reason to be is not acceptable. July a quick review on this one but I needed to comment on the breakfast I've just had....it was simply the best Wetherspoons one I have ever eaten. I know it depends on which chef is on but it was perfect. Exactly as it should be, asked my bacon crispy and it was, plus it was all really hot. A great experience. A really nice Wetherspoons too, in my opinion it is better amd has a nicer atmosphere than The Cherry Tree at the top of Huddersfield. If you in Huddersfield, pop in! Oh....make sure you have the Freedom Breakfast!

My wife and myself called in for breakfast this morning, 25th March 2025. As expected, the food was plentiful and well cooked. Unlimited tea and coffee available. Service was by two very pleasant and polite gentlemen. Food enjoyed in warm surroundings. Great value for money as always. Will be returning soon.

Ordered the large mixed grill and this is the least amount of meat I've ever received when ordering this

Attend once a year on the morning of the area contest at the town hall. Usually full of fellow Brass players. Great spot for a catch-up.

Brilliant old picture house converted into a wether spoons and with it being a spoons you know exactly what you're guna get...no frills dining at a very reasonable price!!! Great for meeting up with friends for a cheap drink too.

You know what… you actually can’t knock a Wetherspoons. It’s an affordable way to meet up with friends for a drink and food. It’s not the healthiest (as at this point everyone knows it’s pretty much all microwaved food), it’s not the cleanest (it’s not foul but you might get a sticky table/carpet situation) and the atmosphere isn’t anything to run on social media and scream about… but it’s the true definition of cheap and cheerful! In terms of service. The staff are good. It’s obviously not their dream job but as long as you’re not annoying you’ll have a good interaction with them.

The food is like in every Wetherspoon, cheap, quickly prepared, it's an individual matter what you like. I like to order and eat Eggs Benedict They are served with a super tasty sauce, the taste of which I cannot imitate at home. If you want to eat in a quiet place, I suggest going downstairs where it's not so noisy.

We had a great experience at spoons quiz. And when I lost my phone Oliver went above and beyond to find it and got it back to me straight away and checked if everything was ok afterwards. He is very polite and kind mannered. Strongly recommend. A big special thanks to Oliver!!

Great place for a drink and food

Uncleared tables, food luke warm, staff didn't want to be there.

Cheap and cheerful. The order to table via app is amazing. You just find a table and just order away.

You know what to expect with a breakfast at Wetherspoons but the service made it great today! Young lad Kieran serving on tables (23rd December 10.30am) really polite and great customer service. In fact, it’s a very well run establishment. Cheers

Good breakfast, the coffee could be a bit better

Lovely place, staff is pleasant. Food was hot , fresh taste amazing.

I have eaten in several witherspoons in the past including the Lord wilson. We ordered our food on the app, 40mins later we asked if there was a problem, the member of staff didn't reappear so I went to the bar to enquire again, another member of staff said there was a 25min delay and I explained we had now waited for 50mins he looked right past me turned away and went into the kitchen. A further 5mins later our food arrived which was virtually cold we complained but was told we could get a free round of drinks which consisted of 1 cherry Pepsi as 2 of us had bottomless coffee's. We left our food, deleted the app and won't be returning. Perhaps some staff training might be in order.

It is a Wetherspoons pub and therefore, like a famous fast food outlet you know exactly what you are going to get. If you don't like that don't go and pay more elsewhere for potentially poorer quality.

There’s Plenty of Wetherspoons out there, so many within walking distance in most places. But you can’t fault The Lord Wilson for its atmosphere, staff and everything else. You rarely get any trouble and when you do the staff sort it out. Table service is fast and accurate, much better than at some other spoons (Becketts Bank for example). Bar staff are always ready to serve and are friendly, and understanding when you can’t hear them if it’s busy, which it usually is, which isn’t a complaint! But the absolute cream of the crop is Gareth and his weekly pub quiz. We haven’t missed one in about two years now, and have won a few times too. It’s been the highlight of the week many times and we all look forward to it. The price is reasonable and he always draws in a great crowd with his banter and fun themes. It would be a lie if I said I wouldn’t go to another Wetherspoons as it won’t compare, but whenever I visit another spoons I can’t help but compare it to The Lord Wilson

I come here every Thursday specifically for the quiz, and it's honestly the highlight of my week; the staff are beyond lovely, table service is really fast (even when it's busy, we've never had to wait too long!) and the quiz is a barrel of laughs. I can't recommend it enough!

Good food Chips were slightly dry and needed more cheese

The service was really fast. However, the food was pretty disgusting. I ordered a chicken burger and chips. The chicken had a strange taste like burnt grease and the chips were hard and tasted weird too. All in all, it was pretty disappointing considering the food isn’t even that cheap anymore with this costing me about £8.

Mixed grill was like it had been served off the kitchen floor. Awful will not be back.

Three us had breakfast this morning 20th October and all three were cold someone in the kitchen needs to learn how to serve hot food or get sacked the waitress serving our food made up for she was very pleasant as are all the staff pity that the kitchen let us down

Went about 17:00, full but plenty of room to get around Update Busy at 14:00. Quieter later.

One of the few Wetherspoons with music playing which makes for a pleasant experience. Staff are attentive, meal and drinks served promptly. My sirloin steak was cooked perfectly, but was insufficiently rested, so it was too tough. It was returned and the meal replaced with another steak which was perfectly cooked and presented. My wife's curry was of usual presentation and standard and very tasty. An enjoyable couple of hours spent in a convivial atmosphere.

Your usual type Wetherspoon pub. One of two in the town. This is my preferred one. Spacious inside, decent food and drinks. Can get busy at peak times.

Ordering via the app is a good tool as it makes ordering quick and easy. There is a short wait time on food and drinks (both of which are value for money).

Had another great meal at The Lord Wilson wetherspoons, I have to say the food in this spoons is the best I've had. Service was fabulous and such good value.

Fine pub, nice cheap drinks, good friendly service and ok food. But what lets this particular Wetherspoons down is the AC - the pub is so cold as to be unbearable. Many people sit with their coats on, suffer the cold for one drink and then leave.

It's a little disturbing to see that even when the Euros are on and the place is filled with rainbow flags.. What team is that then? We won't be returning.
