There’s Plenty of Wetherspoons out there, so many within walking distance in most places. But you can’t fault The Lord Wilson for its atmosphere, staff and everything else. You rarely get any trouble and when you do the staff sort it out. Table service is fast and accurate, much better than at some other spoons (Becketts Bank for example). Bar staff are always ready to serve and are friendly, and understanding when you can’t hear them if it’s busy, which it usually is, which isn’t a complaint! But the absolute cream of the crop is Gareth and his weekly pub quiz. We haven’t missed one in about two years now, and have won a few times too. It’s been the highlight of the week many times and we all look forward to it. The price is reasonable and he always draws in a great crowd with his banter and fun themes. It would be a lie if I said I wouldn’t go to another Wetherspoons as it won’t compare, but whenever I visit another spoons I can’t help but compare it to The Lord Wilson

Gareth is single handedly drawing me inside those doors every thursday like a pub quiz pied piper. impeccable answer reveal timing. we all join hands and say ‘thank you, gareth, for the immaculate vibes.’ thank you to the bar staff who serve me and my team no less than ten pints of cherry pepsi max a week. couldnt do it without you.

I come here every Thursday specifically for the quiz, and it's honestly the highlight of my week; the staff are beyond lovely, table service is really fast (even when it's busy, we've never had to wait too long!) and the quiz is a barrel of laughs. I can't recommend it enough!

Good food Chips were slightly dry and needed more cheese

The service was really fast. However, the food was pretty disgusting. I ordered a chicken burger and chips. The chicken had a strange taste like burnt grease and the chips were hard and tasted weird too. All in all, it was pretty disappointing considering the food isn’t even that cheap anymore with this costing me about £8.

Mixed grill was like it had been served off the kitchen floor. Awful will not be back.

Great atmosphere, great entertainment, great staff

Three us had breakfast this morning 20th October and all three were cold someone in the kitchen needs to learn how to serve hot food or get sacked the waitress serving our food made up for she was very pleasant as are all the staff pity that the kitchen let us down

One of the few Wetherspoons with music playing which makes for a pleasant experience. Staff are attentive, meal and drinks served promptly. My sirloin steak was cooked perfectly, but was insufficiently rested, so it was too tough. It was returned and the meal replaced with another steak which was perfectly cooked and presented. My wife's curry was of usual presentation and standard and very tasty. An enjoyable couple of hours spent in a convivial atmosphere.

Come here for lunch & and drinks when in Huddersfield, very busy on match days.

Your usual type Wetherspoon pub. One of two in the town. This is my preferred one. Spacious inside, decent food and drinks. Can get busy at peak times.

Why is it Wetherspoons never give you hot baked beans. On this occasion they were cold! Will not go in any Wetherspoons again for breakfast!

Not much to say really, just a typical good Spoons. Quick service and the food is always great quality. A little crowded at times but that's naturally to be expected.

Toilets are on the ground floor nice place to visit.

Ordering via the app is a good tool as it makes ordering quick and easy. There is a short wait time on food and drinks (both of which are value for money).

Had another great meal at The Lord Wilson wetherspoons, I have to say the food in this spoons is the best I've had. Service was fabulous and such good value.

Fine pub, nice cheap drinks, good friendly service and ok food. But what lets this particular Wetherspoons down is the AC - the pub is so cold as to be unbearable. Many people sit with their coats on, suffer the cold for one drink and then leave.

It's a little disturbing to see that even when the Euros are on and the place is filled with rainbow flags.. What team is that then? We won't be returning.

Me and my friends always go to the quiz here and we LOVE Gareth, he’s amazing, he makes the quiz so fun and he’s just a great guy. i would definitely recommend the quiz to anyone. also food is lovely :) can always rely on spoons

A large open spaced seating area with many tables, some beside the large glass front which is opened up when warm. It's a little tired but it's still very popular on an evening and can get quite busy. One of the more average wetherspoons out there but still better than some.

The Lord Wilson was very busy on Saturday and I was expecting a bit of a delay for service. How wrong I was: the service at the bar was fast and helpful and the meals arrived very quickly. Well done Spoons!

Spoons playing music very strange 🤔

It needs to be brighter. It's dark and depressing . But I love the prices , and my favorite tipple, Abbott ale .

Went for breakfast had a small one which consisted of 1 bacon, 1 Lincolnshire sausage, hash brown, fried egg and beans. This was 4.99 but you don’t get drink or toast but I thought great price. However the food was cold, the beans were cheap nasty tasting , the bacon was chewy , I took one bite out of the sausage but I couldn’t eat anymore as was not very nice. The hash brown full of grease.The only positive I have was my egg yolk was soft. So i basically paid £4.99 to eat a mouthful of a sausage and bit of bacon plus the egg yolk. Not worth the money. Yes you expect cheap when you don’t pay a lot but you add the drink and toast that’s another £3.00 and you can get a decent breakfast elsewhere for that price which wouldn’t be cheap , nasty , greasy or cold

rude staff! didn't allow dogs OUTSIDE ON THE STREET! refused to serve a man who had a dog outside on the street and wouldn't even bring WATER for the dog!(the dog was well behaved and didn't cause any trouble)

The Lord Wilson what an amazing place! The staff are absolutely top notch people especially Gareth who runs a earth- shattering phenomenal quiz on Thursday evening which you would not want to miss for a week of your life and will remember for every second of your meaningless life. If you were ever to think about writing a bad review you would be immensely stupid and your life is clearly that meaningless and boring that the only joy you get in your life is trying to ruin other peoples fun

Let's be honest, folks. Wetherspoons might not be Michelin-starred, but for a good night out that's easy on the wallet, it's hard to beat. And that goes double for their legendary pub quizzes! This past Thursday, I ventured into the wonderful world of Spoons trivia, and let me tell you, it was a riot. First off, the food. I went for the classic hot fudge brownie . Bargain price, perfectly cooked, and left me feeling orasmicly well. Service was spot on too, friendly staff who didn't bat an eyelid at my multiple refills (diet starts next week, definitely). Now, onto the main event: the quiz itself. Our host, Gareth, was a character to say the least. A walking flamboyance in a Hawaiian shirt, he delivered the questions with a wink and a nudge, throwing in some truly fruity jokes that had us in stitches (just you wait until the round on British monarchs – Gareth has a way with puns that would make your history teacher weep). Here's the thing: my knowledge of general trivia is about as deep as a kiddie pool. But hey, that's half the fun of a Spoons quiz! Between Gareth's hilarious commentary, the competitive spirit of the other teams (one table got very into it!), and the sheer joy of getting a random question right (thanks, childhood dinosaur obsession!), I had an absolute blast. Sure, I might not have walked away with the top prize (alas, my knowledge of 18th-century cheese production remains sketchy), but that didn't matter one bit. The Wetherspoons quiz is all about a good laugh, a bit of friendly competition, and maybe learning a random fact or two along the way. Throw in some fantastically priced pub grub and top-notch service,and you've got yourself a winning night out. So, next time you're looking for a fun and affordable way to spend an evening, skip the fancy cocktail bars and head down to your local Spoons. You might just surprise yourself with your trivia prowess (or lack thereof, but who cares?), and you're guaranteed to have a night filled with laughter, good food, and maybe even a Gareth-induced existential crisis about cheese (don't ask, just go experience it for yourself!).

the food is life changing. the service is fully developed my frontal lobe. the quiz is the best part. Gareth who hosts the quiz actually saved my parents from a burning building when i was a child and put the fire out with his bare hands. we would have lost everything. he is my hero.

the quiz is the only good thing in huddersfield

What a magical place. You walk in and are hit with the aromas of affordable beer and good scran. The staff are lovely and always are up for a laugh. Super friendly. But the highlight has to be the amazing Gareth. A true Huddersfield a-lister. His spoons quiz draws in so many people and no wonder. It is so fun and I’ve never seen a quiz like it. Went to a Leeds spoons quiz and it was awful in comparison. Thursday nights at LW are a MUST!!

As I entered the building I was delighted to see all the different wonders of the human world surrounding me. The joyous man supping his cheap ale on his own, the youngsters enjoying their drinks of E numbers and vodka and many others that you can only truly enjoy on visiting this phenomenal establishment! Also, the bar staff…you would!

We come every Thursday for the quiz, not only are all of the staff very friendly but Gareth who runs the quiz makes it a highlight of the week. Cheap drinks and good food. 10/10

Absolutely astounding place. Some guy called…. Gary(??) served us and…. What a guy. Beautiful inside and out. Wore the cutest dungarees too, really showed off the thighs on him.

what a place!!! came here for the quiz and it certainly did not disappoint; general knowledge, cheap food and drinks, great atmosphere, and the fruitiest music to match the host! absolute 10/10 experience and will most definitely be coming again.

NOISE!! WHY?? I thought Whetherspoons was all about no background noise. Then they go and stick blaring (and really bad) rap music on at 5pm! Completely spoilt the meal. Couldn't even hold a normal conversation.

Went to Yorkshire on a day trip and stopped at The lord Wilson for breakfast as we made our way through Huddersfield. Harold Wilson was a two-time Prime Minister of the UK and an MP for thirty-eight years. He was born in Huddersfield, and it was always his dream to have a Public House named in his honour after his death. Possibly. Up stepped the Wetherspoons chain, as always. They took over a building that looks like a cross between High Street chemist and a Job Centre, turned it into a pub selling cheap food and ale, name it in Harold’s honour and the rest is history. And so, we were at The Wilson for lunch on a wet Wednesday. A couple of curries, a boneless chicken basket and an Ultimate burger were ordered. We waited... The pub wasn’t overly busy, but a steady trade was passing through. Wetherspoons can range in cleanliness from ‘Spick and span’ right through to ‘Skip’. And the Wilson hit the above average mark. Only the odd chip had been ground into the carpet and our table had been recently wiped clean. And I mean just before we arrived and not simply that week. Our server was polite and cheery and delivered our food with a smile. The curries were very good indeed, though, as ever the poppadoms were a touch on the greasy side. A small complaint that barely merits a mention. The chicken was delicious, so our daughter insisted though the chips weren’t as hot as they could have been. And nor were the ones with the burger, according to our lad who devoured the burger like he’d been on a hunger strike complaining about the conditions in our home. The food was good enough, the pub was clean enough and the overall experience was good. Harold Wilson would be delighted.

I had lunch here this week with my daughter in law and grand daughter of 7 months. They have high chairs. There were lots of family groups in. The food came quickly and was very nice.

Nice place ambient atmosphere but service needs to speed up

Lovely fresh breakfast and a warm welcome. Attentive young man was really friendly and showed me how to use coffee machine. Really relaxed comfortable atmosphere.

Good coffee and free refills are just what you need on Monday mornings 😉
