A great place to visit after a walk round Greenhead park. The main part of the cafe is in a large conservatory/greenhouse with an outdoor area with picnic tables. A good range of quality drinks and food are available.

Been here on numerous occasions with staff and we have all had several bad encounter with the miserable staff here. As someone who has worked in hospitality, I don't know how this team get away with it. Their condescending and rude manner towards customers is horrible. They have little patience and no warmth. Also quite expensive for the quality of luke-warm coffee, many cheaper options around huddersfield. Wouldn't recommend, shame as its a nice location by the park with free parking!

Very disappointed with our recent visit. Have been loads over the years but now the menu is very limited, you can only order a selection if sandwiches, of which there are 3 choices. No good for someone who might not want cucumber. Apparently there is a childs option but not on the menu. when I enquired about alternative sandwiches I was told there were only the platters, then another customer behind me in the queue was told something different. Our coffee was made with UHT milk. Will not be returning.

We used to come here for years visiting the cafe for coffee and cake. The main high point was the geraniums, tropical climbing plants and fragrant Mediterranean flowers. The roof needed fixing so this was done over many months. Whoever thought that uprooting all of those beautiful plants and replacing them with dull stones and cacti was very foolish to say the least! The relaxing sounds of the fountain has gone too. It was utterly disappointing to visit!A conservatory is for light loving plants, and an environment of a cafe is reflected in the choice of flowers and fauna. A prickly, uninviting and sterile environment and no longer on my list of top cafes to visit in Huddersfield.

This cafe is in the former palm house in our lovely local park and has been converted very successfully. You can eat either inside or sit out, weather permitting. The food served is of the quiche and salad, jacket potato and sandwich variety and is very good, with generous portions. The only bugbear on the day we went was a large party of young parents and toddlers who paid no regard to other diners and allowed the children to rampage around noisily very close by so Monday lunchtimes are best avoided!

On a hot summers day we stopped off for lunch and chose to eat indoors out of the sweltering heat of the outside eating area. Grab a seat and a menu, order at the counter, pay and then sit and relax.I ordered a lovely ham and mozzarella panini which came with a dressed salad. My wife chose the tomato and basil flan which arrived with an even bigger salad. A couple of fentemans drinks and all for £18.Lovely tasty lunch and very good value for money.

We have been to the cafe a handful of times in the past two years or do. The building is lovely, conservatory is a lovely space. Menu is good, food is tasty, there is a children's menu and I think it is all good vale for money. I feel comfortable with taking the children here as there is plenty of room. The only downside is the rudeness of some of the staff. It's almost like some of them are there against their will and think it is acceptable to be short with you and almost tell you off. God help you if you forgot to look at your table number....even if you are the only people in there. Even the way your order is taken is like an interrogation. It is not all staff, I have come across two who were very lovely.

Visited a few times before as the venue and food and drinks are good, but the service is a bit erratic. Today when we were browsing the menu on the counter to see what we wanted, the lady taking the orders bossily told us to queue at the other side, we didn't dare argue so just joined, despite still not being sure of what we wanted - the menus should be available before you join the queue. It's all a bit clunky around the entrance. During taking my order the lady started a conversation with another staff member about another order...maybe focussing on one task at a time might be more efficient ? I finally ordered three dishes and three drinks and sat down. The first item arrived, we then waited 15 minutes before having to ask for the other items and waited a further ten minutes for them to arrive. Surely an order should be brought out together so everyone can eat at the same time? The young lady waitress was very apologetic and said their was a problem with the computer ordering system, but no compensation was offered. Maybe a drink while we waited would have been a nice touch. It's a nice place and the staff try their best but you can tell it's not a privately owned business, if it was I think their customer service would be better.

A visit to the beautiful park with our granddaughter was spoiled by the length of time we waited for food. After over 45 minutes we were still waiting for one sandwich. I asked a member of staff what the hold up was and showed her my receipt. After going to investigate she returned to say I had given the wrong table number. Strange since I gave our table number as 3, the receipt showed table 3 and we were sat at table 3!! She then told me the food was in the lift on its way. After 20 minutes we were still waiting. We then left getting a refund on the way out.

The café wasn't over busy so I was surprised at our wait. I decided to ask at the counter if they had forgotten our order and as I did it arrived. Not sure why it took 25 minutes for 2 children's ham sandwiches but it did spoil it for us as the children wanted to leave by then and go elsewhere. Spacious cafe with lots of tables. Love that they've kept the pond in the middle from the original conservatory. Being in a conservatory it does get quite hot and there are bugs around because of the plants (not a criticism - it was like eating outside on a warm summer's day!). I do wish people would control their dogs though. It's a shame that some owners think it's acceptable for them to be running round and barking - it's people like this who give responsible dog owners a bad name and why dogs aren't accepted in lots of uk cafes. Staff should feel confident to say something to them. Great menu with lots of choices for adults, but could offer a bit more for children. Friendly staff, but it can be slow to order and queues build quickly. A nice addition to the park.

When the meal was laid in front of me, it looked and tasted as if it had been put to one side a while ago; the bacon was hard and the egg solid. Visited recently after spending time in Greenhead Park. I have to say that the whole experience was somewhat underwhelming. The ambience is quite flat and stark; no background music, no curtains or blinds, hard surfaces, I guess typical cafe surroundings but you expect more these days.Food & service distinctly average, although we only had a couple of toasties, there was nothing to recommend them further than "basic" and the side salads the same. We did want breakfast but it had finished 10 minutes ago. Fair enough, but with the few customers inside I would have they would have tried to have a word with the chef to see if he rustle up a couple of sausage sarnie, but it was a straight "no".It's a pity as it's a nice location but would benefit from a makeover, better food and more helpful staff. Sorry if this sounds harsh but it is my honest opinion.

We are fairly frequent visitors but more to do with the fact that we visit the park regularly rather then specifically visiting the cafe. The food is generally lovely and today was no exception. Delicious bowl of homemade soup and fresh bread. The customer service is what really lets this place down. The lady behind the till could barely muster a smile. I tried to order the rarebit to be practically barked at: 'can't have that, it's on the breakfast menu and it's lunch time'.Three small groups ordered within minutes of each other, one party's food came quickly, the other two waited well over half an hour just for sandwiches! Also, it's pretty irritating that your hot drinks are served immediately so they're stone cold by the time your food arrives. Improve the basics or your captive audience will vote with their feet and choose to find a better offering in the town centre which is right on your doorstep.

We were eating the very basic food and Mam head was aching and my husband was in pain. Trapped we continued only for the dog to shriek again at which my husband snapped as he could see my Mum's pain. 'All food subject to availability' as the menu says. Well this availability period is only the weekend. Myself, my fiancee and out son are visiting on a Tuesday and have been refused a pizza. Judging by the rest of the food nothing is made fresh anyway so a pizza wouldn't be hard to heat up.So we picked our alternative food order and then asked for 2 lattes as well. I got a look as if I had just ordered something a dog might do! Anyway, the woman serving me asked if they were large coffees and I said yes. I was then given 2 coffees in 'large' cups (no larger than the regular cups) but full to about 2" from the top. I paid then asked if I could have them topped up, which brought another scowl as she slid a jug of cold milk towards me. When I asked for hot milk she scowled, took the cold milk across to the milk warmer and pretended to warm it up and then added the still cold milk to the mugs - still leaving them 1" from the rim.And to top it off, I was charged full price for a decaff latte made with instant coffee!Miserable staff, poor service, poor food.Visit the conservatory at the bottom of the park instead.
