Came in to get a baby chino for my daughter as i have at other Costa establishments. There was a long cue as expected for 1pm on a Sunday, which was managed well. However, when asking for the chino, i wasn't expecting confusion. They didn't want to provide me with the free drink as it is everywhere else and add a charge for syrup. Instead, they took their time talking to each other and playing around on the system, trying to charge for the drink. After a few minutes, I got a little impatient and told them just to charge a small latte so I could get my daughter her drink. They did apologise for the confusion. If you're looking to get a baby chino, dont go here!

Please don't confuse this Costa in the NEXT clothing store (up the escalator and turn left) with the one a couple of doors along at ground level. My experience of each was very different and so I choose the café inside Next whenever I am in Birstall. The Costa in Next provides a great, friendly service, even when they are busy. The manager, Alia, always has a smile and makes me feel welcome and this attitude infects the staff, even the new team members, creating a great atmosphere. Midweek lunch times are usually very busy, so service can be a little slower, but still friendly. Apart from the occasional hiccups with deliveries, they always have a great selection on display, although I have my own go-to items that the staff remember. However, being located inside the Next store does mean I have started spending more on clothes too.

This was my second time having coffee here, and I have to say, the taste of the coffee at this location is absolutely fantastic and truly stands out from all the other branches. It’s just amazing! The flavors are rich and unique. On top of that, the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They always make sure you have a great experience. If you're a coffee lover, you definitely need to try this place!

Been to lots of Costas but you can't beat this one for service, cleanliness, atmosphere, food and great Coffee!! The staff are great especially the manager Aliya, we love it

The barista (older, short with blonde hair) was rude - talking to the young staff like they were morons. Asked her for the marshmallows I ordered and rather responding to me she shouted the demand towards the younger girl on the till. Clearly doesn’t like her job and not very good at it either. Flat white wasn’t a flat white

Most staff are rude. Slow and rude service by staff. Food and drink is 9.5/10. The price is quite reasonable and the interior is very nice and quite vast.

Busy as per for time of year but was ok, we just waited for lattes to go... good service from staff altho it was quite busy ... 👍👍

I visit Costa’s on a regular basis up and down the country and have never left a review before. I have been twice to this branch at Birstall and I have to say it’s the most lovely place. The ladies that work here go out of their way to make you feel welcome and take the time to chat to everybody!

The food was okay, but the lady serving was a bit tired because we visited at the end of the day and I wasn't sure about the atmosphere. Recommended dishes: Cappuccino Coffee

The staff were warm and friendly. The noise from I presume the coffee grinder was like a jumbo jet. Like all the nationals hard floor lots of window glass and hard ceilings let noise bounce around so you shout to be heard. Coffee was 😊

We have to give this particular Costa 5 stars, why you ask? Well, when we arrived in store we wanted a cold drink, not from a bottle though. We couldn't decide which one though. The Barista recommended a strawberry drink, but we said we weren't sure. The Barista made us a free sample drink to try, and we immediately ordered the said drink, how good was that for service, I'd say excellent. We didn't note her name, but she was on duty late Wednesday afternoon 1st March (Birstall), easy five stars for great service, and an excellent drink recommendation. Many thanks.

Amazing service for the last 10 years by Antoinette always feel welcomed with her professional manner especially when we come as a family with kids. We are a regular customer at the Birstall store and the service by her and team is amazing. Don’t feel rushed it’s very peaceful . She needs a bonus pay Costa team. Thank you

Not a fan of coffee but they do a delicious hot chocolate! Great for a vegetarian that most of their cakes are vegan or vegetarian too. Staff are always friendly and helpful especially Alia(?) who always says hi with a lovely smile.

Lovely coffee, didn’t have anything to eat. A great place to meet friends or have a break from shopping. Clean and comfortable.

When are Costa going to get with the programme?! Both myself and my daughter have dairy intolerances, and whilst they offer an alternative to milk, the choice of food is abysmal. I'm also coeliac, and there were a couple of small cake slices, hardly palatable in cellophane. Our local independent coffee shop has a huge range of gluten free/ vegan food, so why in this day and age, are Costa so dire. ?!

Very happy with service... 👌 Staff there amazing and very friendly. Everyone smile and helping each other. We got 2 coffees and 2 deserts. Very tasty food and coffee... higly recommended 😘👍

Quite expensive but expected as a franchise. They don't put aero bubbles on tip of mint aero hot chocolate either which it shows on the advert so my children were a little disappointed as that is why we went

One of the better Costas in the area. Well managed and a settled staff who you get to know after a while and offer a friendly and professional service.

2nd costa I’ve stopped at on way home, website says open till 7 but was shut when I got there at 6:15

Visited with my husband today and was told to do the contact tracing via my phone . I said I have an iPhone 5 and unable to download the app. She proceeded to tell me how to do it when it was clear to anyone in the queue how she was humiliating and embarrassing me. I am 75 years of age and hope when she gets old , which she will no- one treats her the same. She told the girl who was bringing the clean pots in to fetch an iPad and I had to give out my details in public whilst still queuing to place my order . This member of staff needs sending on a course for MANNERS !! as she certainly hasn’t got any, or better still removing from working with the public. I see from previous reviews this is not the first complaint about a rude member of staff- my guess it is the same person. Come on costa - she’s losing you customers. I look forward to costas comments on my review.

Well having been dragged around Next with my better half we called for a coffee and cake, sounds normal thing to do what we didn’t expect was how rude the waitress was especially when we asked if we could have Cinnamon on the top it was like What Cinnamon what is that oh no can’t you just have a coffee then it was rudeness after rudeness needless to say never again. Thanks Pickles maybe you should think about a different job because customer care is not high on you skill list, I wonder how customers you have lost here!!!

Go here regularly and the place is always tidy and clean. Staff excellent and coffee always good. Certainly one of the better Costas about.

This Costa, above Next is in need of a refurb definitely but you overlook this because the staff are so fantastic and make your visit special. Always a smile and a chat and nothing is too much trouble. Coffee is good too 😂

This place is generally busy, so the turnover of food should be quite high, however, after getting a piece of cake which was very stale, I was very disappointed. They did change it for me and they didn’t make it an issue so that it good on a customer service point of view. Coffee is good, so I’d definitely go again.

No where to sit full tables very unclean staff when eventually cleared some tables used her hands to wipe table down coffee was not the hottest

If you want a nice quiet hot drink on a afternoon come here its very nice.I enjoy all the drinks on offer here especially at christmas the blackforest hot chocolate is nice. Definatly come here if youve been shopping in the rest of the retail park.

I chose this coffee shop, to meet a friend at, whilst I was travelling across the country on the M62. The team worked very efficiently together and provided great service. Thank you!

Usual Costa place on a retailpark so quite handy for pre or post shopping coffee. As usual in Costa they prat about making the coffee but not as much as some. Indoor and outdoor seating but messy uncleared tables outside so be prepared to do some cup shifting. Nothing special but ok as Costa's go.

The festive drinks were not made properly, not like other Costa coffee store. Store manager very helpful but I'm afraid the lady who made our drinks wasn't.

The Black Forest hot chocolate was very nice , really good The honeycomb late not nice at all the honeycombs are rock hard

Met friends for a coffee at lunch time and tried this new chocolate on the menu . It comes in the tiniest little glass bowl, which means it's impossible to pick up and drink without scolding your self . No handle which I thought was bizarre Once it cooled it was ok to pick up and was very rich

Visited mid morning. It was quite busy and unfortunately the larger tables were taken up by couples or individuals. We opted for a couch with a table that was littered with dirty plates and crumbs (as was the windowsill next to it). We waited at the table whilst one of our party ordered. No-one came to clear the table so we cleared it ourselves and took the tray to the kitchen area where it was intercepted by a young man who had been drifting around with a toasted teacake in his hand (or something similar). We went to the counter to ask for a cloth, and the manager came over and cleaned the table and apologised. Coffee was good. I think they perhaps need to increase staffing levels to ensure that tables are ready for guests.
