This place is fantastic and itâs pie, mash and peas is a must have. Ditch that good for nothing sandwich in a box and go get yourself something from here.
We enjoyed as a self indulgent treat afternoon tea at Betty's for the second time. While not the cheapest thing you may experience, you won't forget this one. The food is beautiful to look at and taste. The ambiance is very genteel and quintessentially British accompanied by a grand piano tinkling in the background.
The staff are dressed authentically and seem to enjoy their job, as we did the exception service given with both a smile and expertise. We were served by Eva who was bubbly young lady and a delight to engage with.
In all money well spent and an experience we'll remember for all the right reasons...đđ°âđđ

Patties are a true northern delicacy! đ Excellent fresh and we've discovered they can travel south and be frozen....
Gluten free menu is a very welcome feature.
Picked up a takeaway from Papaâs Fish and Chips and it was brilliant! The food was fresh, and ready in no time. Yvonne, Alisha, and Andrea were so friendly and welcoming while we waited. Highly recommend if you're after a quick, delicious takeaway!
Unfortunately I won't be returning. One member of the party received her starter after everyone else had finished theirs - it was pretty clear they had forgotten to bring it out! There was then nearly an hours wait for the mains to come out - we didn't bother ordering pudding as it was already past 10pm when we finished our mains! It is also pretty noisy, so ambiance isn't amazing. On the plus side, the staff were nice and the food was tasty for the most part....just shocking service!
Whiteheads has been a real favourite of ours for years. Went in this lunch time. First thing I noticed is the coxes have changed. Smaller.Tow regular haddock which were of vastly different sizes. Poor portion of chips to boot (which we shared), and a corned beef pattie which had no corned beef in at all. Terrible! The fish was flat. Tasteless and dry. Batter was soggy and wet. Bitterly disappointing. Weâve happily driven an hour to go here in the past but will think seriously before going here again after todayâs experience. Youâve earned a great reputation over a long time but thereâs something going seriously wrong here. Itâs nowhere near good enough. Sort it out!

What a pub! The ales provided are outstanding. The Bitter, Mild and Stout are a drinkers treat, prices to die for and a nostalgic step back in time.
If youâre visiting Beverley and looking for a good pint of beer or cider, then make Nellieâs your first port of call. Outstanding!!
Sad to say, it seems if you know the owner they'll serve them first rather than the line of customers. I'll have to have a very good reason to go back at all.
