Slow service would’ve serve after our first drink even though it was our first drink of the night, dead atmosphere

Sat on my own, barman served me a beer (expensive in comparison to area) and then went back to another room, which was also empty

Popped in for a swift one while awaiting a large order at the Crystal palace takeaway (Also Excellent!) Warm friendly atmosphere with a good selection of Beers - Menu looked good too. Would like to have stayed longer. (Maybe next time)

Lovely pub to go if you want food was quite busy especially because people wanted to eat staff friendly food was lovely has pool room and darts boards plenty to do also they have beer garden and board games

Our team of 4 were happy with the food, range of drinks & service. Quite possibly back during our 1 week hols

Honestly I have never been so dissatisfied and disappointed, lovely place in a great location food smelt great, but it was just poor quality, chips were rock hard, my gammon as I asked for well done was either cooked by chef Mike or on the radiator, will never be returning that's for sure On top of that we never received any cutlery and by the time the very uninterested waitress brung it out it was Luke warm at best

Not been here in last 6 months. We use to love this place. Walked in 4 people in the pub, stood at the bar for 3-4 minutes before anyone came out to serve. No Sunday lunch anymore and very limited menu. We both ordered Hunters chicken. Chicken came in a tin dish (been microwaved) bacon went in the bin all fat and under cooked, cheese was cremated to the tin, chicken was OK. Chips were over cooked and greasy salad was average. We both left most of it. Wife had iced water which came in a childs glass. We will not be going back anymore cannot believe how the food, menu and atmosphere has changed in a short time.

Ordered the gyro boxes, absolutely lovely, would definitely recommend.

Went in and walked out , awful place , dirty , and no atmosphere, if you are looking for a quick drink , then maybe that's for you , otherwise just avoid , chef is very young and not at all.experienced

We’ve just had Sunday lunch here last Sunday. Best Sunday dinner we’ve had in ages. Friendly, helpful staff, a welcoming atmosphere and the food was fantastic. We asked for a small adjustment to our meal which they were happy to carry out. I only wished we lived closer for a swift return visit.

We popped here after my husband had a football match, never been before but the lads went back for a pint and I was hoping to get the kids some food as it was about 8.30pm. Anyway good had stopped at this point when we got in and asked, although the guy said we could go to the chip shop and bring it in, we went across but they'd sold out of food and wasn't putting anymore on. At this point the kids were starving they'd had tea early and just needed something with it been so late and cold too. The kind gentlemen said let me just go see if I can sort you out some chips for the kids and he did. He brought out 3 boxes for them and they were delicious too. Meant a lot! Much appreciated 👍

A great village pub in Brandesburton, a nice cosy traditional bar and a separate large Lounge. Good selection of beers, larger, and ciders, including handpulled cask conditioned real ales. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Sometimes, during the summer months, there are classic car meetings.

Painful. slow service from uninterested staff, when I asked for vinegar, the waitress/ bar maid grunted and pretty much threw it at me across the table. The food was below average for me (gammon) as it was over cooked, the burger was pretty good. Guinness was not bad. But for the price the experience was border line for the overall quality. Clearly understaffed and I would not return for food.

Went with my husband for Sunday lunch. I had Pork and he had Beef. Meat lovely and tender and all the veg and mashed potato delicious. Lovely home made Yorkshire puds and proper tasty gravy.

Great pub that still had that traditional pub feel, with a lovely atmosphere and a fantastic team, food is top notch and you’re always welcomed by Mark and the staff, the locals as well. A really super place to visit !!

Amazing homemade food to a really high standard and amazing service from the staff. Had roast dinner on mothers day visited on the off chance could fit us in last minute and it was great. Will be coming back here again! Thank you :)

We visited for Sunday Lunch and the kids ordered pizza from the kids menu. Our food came about an hour after we ordered. When it arrived we were told the kids menu wasn't available today so the pizzas were different to what was ordered. We had to either accept the food and hope the kids would eat it, or order something else which would take even longer. We opted to accept the incorrect pizzas, one of which wasn't eaten. How could things have been better? They could have told us when we booked/ordered that the kids menu wasn't available. I did specifically check when I booked and they confirmed it was available. There was no discount or compensation offered for the incorrect food. I had to ask which resulted in them removing 1 pizza from the bill.

50 mins from order to food arrival. Sat us right by que for drinks so as people Pushed past between the que and us our chairs were constantly knocked. Annoying when you’re trying to eat. Food was tasty but not a lot of it for the price we paid. Veg was pitiful for a Sunday roast!

Went on holiday and called in twice. Great staff, very friendly pub. Dog friendly too. Can't comment on food as only went for a couple of drinks.

We visited today and was very disappointed in the food. It was very expensive to say what was on the plate. I know the cost of living is going up but the food we was served was not as good as the last two times we have visited.a very dissatisfied customer.

Just been to Black Swan for first meal of year ordered Rump steak and a Gammon steak , both came out in reasonable time, Rump steak cooked to perfection, tiny portion of chips and a bit of green colouring on side described on menu as side salad..... now let's get to the extremely over cooked gammon steak, over cooked egg and again no side salad as described on menu... this was sent back immediately to be replaced but took that long we cancelled that order which ended in my wife having no food very disappointed, won't be back, have to mention one of the staff a young girl who was so lovely and helpful.... a real asset to this establishment, we were refunded, but still very disappointed

Went with family for evening meal nothing like it use to be,waited. Extremely disappointed Food was horrendous left hungry with a big drinks bill. Thanks !!!!!

Terrible service, took 1.5hrs to get main course, we were told chef was “making the soup” so caused delay (soup was on the menu “ Not a clean pub, dead flies on windowsills next to wear you are eating. Despite telling staff service was poor and sending back the food (it was cold) after the long wait to get it. Will not be coming back. No compensation offered , just a “we will let the chef know”

Service really poor. Waited 1.5 hrs for a main course. Ordered soup for starter, took ages and we were told that chef was making it from scratch! (It was on the menu) Sent main course back (after the 1.5hrs wait) as it was cold! Dead flies on winder-sills near where we were all eating. When we paid bill we said the service was poor, food, cold, dirty restaurant. The response was “I will tell chef “ this seems unlikely as the lady was gossiping to bar staff whilst creating our bill. Cost £106 for x4 of us, no offer of a discount even though staff knew the service and food had been rubbish. Will tell all we can not to go here.

The black Swan is a great place to bring the family for a meal or a quiet drink. Staff are really friendly and always welcoming.

Visited the Black Swan last Sat 7th Oct. This pub has been under new management for about 6 months now & I was pleasantly surprised with the refurbishments, which were a big improvement to what it was like the last time I was there, which was well before the lockdown. More polite staff too then under the previous management, I might add. My dinner: Fish & Chips with garden peas, bread & butter & cup of tea, all for a total cost of £15.00. I had to wait a long time, almost an hour in fact for my meal to be delivered, but when I mentioned this delay to Holly the manager, she wasted no time in making the necessary enquiries as to what had happened. Holly explained to me that unfortunately my meal ticket had been lost, but when my dinner did arrive it was well worth the wait, nicely cooked fish with a fine texture, & beautiful thick cut chips. Thank you to Holly & her staff for making my visit to the Black Swan worthwhile, and despite the wait, this pub is highly recommendable. Stephen Davis. Hull. Fish & Chip reviews.

Came to ask about Sunday lunch. The lady behind the bar was extremely helpful and charming - naturally we booked the lunch!!

Went for tea at 6.30pm 4 adults, tried to order the steak pie was told none left, 2nd choice was the pork loin on the special board again none left, so early in the evening!!! Two of us opted for the chilli con carne the other 2 a beef madras and a chicken kebab. The chilli was dry, tasteless and the beans were so hard nearly cracked a tooth, the beef Madras again was dry and the naan bread it came with was stone cold finally the chicken kebab the chicken was greasy and bland the pitta bread was cold. With a round of drinks and 4 meals we paid £70 wish we had saved our money. Will definitely give this place a wide berth in the future. Need to up you game Black Swan

Sunday lunch is 15 pounds, for the money it is poor value. The best part was the Yorkshire pudding. There was only one slice of beef which was ok. The roast potatoes and veg had already been cooked and reheated in the microwave. The red cabbage was tasteless, as was the gravy. It appears that "cook" is not a chef by the quality of the food and how it was piled on the plate Sorry, we will not return. A sad reflection of the state eating of eating out in the UK, with a lack of experienced chefs, microwaved food, and poor presentation.

Definitely worth a visit! A very welcoming pub, Holly behind the bar is very professional and a lovely lady. The outside beer garden is clean and nice to sit in especially if the sun's out 🌞 Not to mention the food is delicious 😋 well presented dishes & extremely tasty too.

I have been to the Black Swan a few times over the years, which in its self speaks volumes about the place. A very welcoming pub, headlined by the new Manager called Holly who is a great addition and cocktail specialist. I take my family for tea quite alot and the food is always on point, also there are board games, crayons and paper to keep the kids entertained. Zoe always greets you and is non stop behind the bar, Lewis the server is very attentive and hard working, Trinity always has a smile on her face and and is brilliant. It is a shame the scouse sounding chap has left, he was absolutly fantastic behind the bar. The Black Swan has a pool table, darts and a beer garden also. Great pub, thank you Amy and Marc.

Average food, nice pub for a drink but wouldn’t go back for the food. Shame as could be great but don’t think there’s a real chef there.

Lovely village pub. Stopped overnight in motorhome. Be aware, sloping car park, but not too bad for my little van. Limited menu, and even then they were out of lot of dishes. But friendly staff did best to accommodate.

Used to be lovely but I think it's gone downhill a little. The mini football pitch outside doesn't help at all; when you want to sit in the sunshine drinking a cool pint, having to protect yourself from getting a mouthful of glass as a football is smashed towards your face isn't all that relaxing.

We visited Black Horse at Atwick on Sunday 11th June for Sunday Lunch, myself and husband, after my visit the previous week with my sister, the chief didn’t disappoint, the food was piping hot very large portions and the meat was excellent, I can say that it’s one of the nicest Sunday lunches we have had around that area, we’ve booked again for next Sunday Father’s Day, looking forward to visiting again, well done 👍🏻

Walked over to the pub from Greenacres Park campsite. Sign outside says" New Chef New Menu". Keep hold of your chef! Good menu choices and very tempting! Very tasty starters/tapas. Chicken tenders.....lush! Local sourced sirloin steak cooked to perfection....or not, as I have mine blue. Hand cut fresh chips and green salad. The BEST onion rings! All served with a smile and warm chat by Zoe. Separate room fir us peops with Dogs.

Called in for lunch today. I had the steak pie which was beautifully done, both the pastry and meat. My wife had a fab risotto. She was so full that she asked if she could have the remainder bagged up, which the charming member of staff duly obliged. I had a moreish sticky toffee pudding and ice cream to finish. Well worth the visit.

We took my Dad for his birthday for a 3 course Sunday lunch. It was absolutely beautiful. Homemade soup with homemade bread, just wow, lovely roast dinner and homemade sticky toffee pudding to finish it off. It was the best sticky toffee I've eva tried. Emily was the barmaid/waitress that was serving us throughout. Had a lovely big smile and nothing was to much trouble for her. Emily is a lovely assest to the pub. Will definately be back!

Been going to the black swan now for about 6 months ,the food is always fantastic now they have a new chef ,we not had a bad meal from the new chef .Emily is always chatty and very friendly .It’s good to have a dog friendly pub that’s had good beers ,great food and friendly staff .well done black swan 👏

We've visited a few times recently and have had beautiful food every time. Particularly enjoy the starters that can be had as tapas plates, and the main meals we've had have also been delicious, especially the steak pie! Had a pud last night too and that was amazing. Will be coming again next week and looking forward to trying something else on the menu. The staff are really lovely and have made us feel very welcome - super cosy pub that has soon become our regular!

Had the Sunday Special here today. Soup was divine, served with warm crusty bread and butter. I had the beef and my husband had the chicken. Both were cooked to perfection and the vegetables were tasty and plentiful. Yorkshire pudding finished it off with plenty of gravy. The best roast we have had in a long while. Sticky toffee pudding was to die for. Not only was the food first class, the friendly staff and their professional service topped off the experience. Give this place a try

Called in to The Black Swan for Sunday lunch18th December. What a lovely warm welcome. Straight away we felt the lovely atmosphere. Staff are engaging and friendly, just what you want from a country inn. We had a Sunday roast that was very well priced and cooked to perfection. We will definitely be going back in the New Year.

So glad they have a new chef and food is back on. Missed eating here. Waitress was lovely and really pleasant. Have a 9month old baby and she went above and beyond to intract with her and pick her toy up 🙈 Had garlic mushrooms for a starter, was lovely and hot. Had pie for a maim, was amazing, others had a roast and they really enjoyed it. Will definitely be back again.

Just been to this great pub for Sunday lunch with my daughter and her boyfriend. Between us we had the beef and pork and chicken Sunday lunches. Delicious and very well presented, great value for money. The staff were great and service first class. We will be back

Just finished the Sunday lunch. We had the beef and the belly pork. Both were very tasty and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and efficient. Well done all involved and welcome to Max the new chef who obviously has a lot of talent. Will be revisiting soon.

First try out today of The Black Swan’s new Sunday Roast Menu, both the vegetarian roast and beef rump joint were delicious. Compliments to new chef Max, look forward to trying out the rest of the new menu, especially the hanging kebabs! Attentive service from all the staff.
