Had a brilliant night saw the charm offensive what a brilliant night great atmosphere really friendly professional service great staff

Visited Hallgate Tavern with family on Sunday, facility was clean and staff were exceptionally helpful and accommodating when ordering meals (Cowboy burger was excellent). Free wi-fi enabled me to sort a work call whilst at pub (Cottingham mobile signal is not great). Overall a good experience…will be back.

Really cool pub. Absolutely massive boozer with very friendly folks behind and in front of the bar.

Food was good as always, quiet atmosphere we were there lunch time. Service was quick and the manager brought our dog a bowl of water and a treat .

Absolutely amazing food! Me and my friends had the cowboy burger which was to die for! To top it off we had dessert, love a good piece of chocolate fudge cake! The staff are lovely too! Abbie was a great service, nice to have a laugh with! Yannis, the owner, is amazing as always! Great food prepared by him personally as well as amazing customer service and all for a good price!

First time we have visited this bar. Really enjoyed our evening watching the match there tonight. Spacious venue, lots of seating, good views of TVs to watch sport. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Despite match result, we had a very nice evening thankyou.

Popped in randomly with my brother as they had the football on! Fantastic service the staff was friendly and fun and they created a fantastic atmosphere. The food was delicious and reasonabley priced! Will definitely be back!

Fantastic venue for am event, a meal and a drink. We held a function here and as promised the endless support kf quality food for the buffet was amazing. Great staff a credit to the owner , who was the nicest most helpful and polite guy you could ever meet. If I lived near this would be my local as they also do great meals, and music events. We shall be forever grateful to Yiannis and his team. Search no further, and be assured you won't be disappointed

Came in for a quick bite to eat last week, food was great especially for the price. So many choices for drinks my friends couldn’t pick a beer. Great staff and service, very impressed.

Great food, friendly and polite staff - clean (including the toilets) made to feel welcome. Called in after appointment at Castle Hill Hospital, didn't realise meals went off at 1630 but we still managed to get excellent food. Will get in earlier next time!!

* Edit * As a pub its fine, however the toilets are vile, to the point i was almost vomiting from the odour! do these get cleaned with anything? it concerns me that if the managers are happy to allow their customers see and smell this what are the hygiene levels like where the customers can't see.

Great atmosphere the blonde lass and the manager was awesome, couldn't fault anything. 2 pool tables aswell ..

Always like coming to this pub. Got so many different areas . You can play pool, have something to eat or just find a quiet corner for a pint. On the last occasion we went to see a band on a Saturday night, great atmosphere been to a few gigs here. Even the landlord was up dancing .

When places say they are dog friendly this is the standard they should aim for. But they don't neglect the humans. Food was really very good.

Serves a good pint. Large and spacious. Service is mostly good even with the grunting barman considered (maybe was having a bad day 😄 ). Update: barman still doesn't communicate with words... but the beer is still very good! 😂

Brilliant pub. Lots of screens for sale spirts. With two separate boxes so you can watch 2 games at once! Brilliant food at a very reasonable price. Large selection of drinks, again reasonable price. Amazing staff and landlord Yannis who goes the extra mile to accommodate everything possible. Strongly recommend. 10/10

Pub quiet .. i got there a bit early , but not an issue .. Barstaff were friendly and attentive .

The bar staff are really well trained and very good at their jobs. The service is fast and efficient with good communications and eye contact. They made me feel very welcome. The hand pulled bitters are really well kept. The landlord makes a special effort with his customers and acknowledges them which makes me feel as if it's a pub I belong in. Top service and good prices.

I like Hallgate, perhaps more than any other pub in Cottingham. The long layout offers ample seating, even on the busiest days. You get different atmospheres depending on where you're sat, some areas are private and ideal for one on one conversation; some are wide open and great for big groups. It's an all purpose pub I can imagine gigs taking place within, as well as the football being shown on the big screen projector. Bar staff have always been helpful and beer selection isn't bad (try the Sunbeam).

Often pop in here for a pint of Directors, plenty of space, crowd is a mature age, not the place for idiots.

Lovely and friendly club. Definitely worth a visit. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are lovely. The club also sells tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

Great pub, organised and clean with great sport screens and food available. The pub has a great garden to the rear and was an unexpected surprise for a pub in the town centre. Also does amazing live entertainment.

Cant complain the owner/manager, informed us on what to do and when to sanitize I cannot complain at that one iota , I'd go as far to say well done on that front. Not the place to go for a 10/1 date, but a great place to start,, very happy will go again.

Lovely pub lunch at Hallgate. The manager welcomed us and went through the new Covid procedures. We ordered at the bar and enjoyed a lovely meal outside with our little pooch who enjoyed a drink of water and a few doggie biscuits 😊

Fantastic atmosphere, felt really safe and looked after. Great access for me and my wheelchair and their covid 19 system worked great. The food was absolutely stunning me and my partner and kids highly recommend the good.

Had an enjoyable family meal there. Made use of the Thursday grill offer and had mixed grill all round, with a drink! Pleasant and helpful chap behind the bar. Think his name was James.. looking forward to next time.

I've not even had my food yet but am giving the hallgate tavern 5 stars! We are not local but we were just given the warmest welcome ever. We had been to another pub with our well behaved pooch and we just got stared at like we had three heads because unbeknown to us they were not dog friendly! The man in the Hallgate Tavern was the complete opposite, he welcomed the three of us in, told us we could sit wherever we like and gave us some little bones for our boy! This man is an asset! A lovely little first stop on our holiday!

Food is plentiful & good value. Don't expect 5 star, but the food and service is better than a lot of places I've been, and I'll definitely visit again.

A fantastic Chicken and Bacon salad for an incredible £3.75!!! I had a 4oz rump steak salad the other week for just £4.05! Great food at great prices, good beer. Why is this place rammed full of people at lunch time? You can get a proper meal for the price of a sandwich, 12- 5 Pm Monday to Friday. Ham & 2Eggs & Chips, Cauliflower Cheese Tart, Sausage & Mash, Fish & Chips, 5oz Gammon & Egg & Chips, £3.75!!!4oz Rump Steak salad, 4oz Rump Steak Chips Peas & half grilled Tomato £4.05
