Haven Arms in East Riding of Yorkshire

Have yet to be able to get into the place. We have been a total of 4 times after seeing online the place was open for lunch service but every time we get there it's locked and deserted. Hardly a great way to run a business....

Visited here for a family members birthday meal, the food is absolutely amazing! The staff were very friendly and welcoming took time to come and chat ect. The quality of the food is outstanding, would go as far as saying the best meal out I have had! Can not wait to return again and try their other dishes.

Great place for a Sunday lunch. Lots of choice, excellent beers on tap. Staff lovely and the busy-not-too-busy atmosphere really enjoyable.

We have been many times over the years to the Haven Arms for Sunday lunch. Yesterday we we were called up to the carvery in good time. The carvery was excellent as usual. No complaints there. Everything was fine till the dessert, for which we were kept waiting for a good half hour till we eventually complained to Mark. I have to say I was very upset by Mark's response and attitude. Some such words as "cut us some slack, we've got a big party in", "don't come here if you don't like it". I understand they were under pressure, BUT no way to talk to a customer. Afterwards Alison did come over to apologise, but it still leaves a bad taste, and spoilt what would otherwise have been a nice Sunday.

We held a family 60th birthday party here recently. The staff were great and couldn't do enough to help. Food and drinks were fab too. Highly recommend!

The haven Arms is a traditional pub at Hessle haven. There is a wide range of beers and lagers including two hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. It has a nice cosy bar and a large lounge for events, there was a wedding reception going on when we arrived. There is also a marquee. A nice quiet beer garden at the front of the pub and plenty of free parking.

We moved to Hedon in 2021 and have had drinks in the beer garden a few times, really lovely. We decided to book for the Sunday carvery and it was absolutely amazing. The meats were so tender and the vegetables were very good too, lots of choice available. The members of staff and the Landlord were very welcoming and the room were the carvery is served is really nice. It’s also very reasonably priced. We will definitely visit again and have no hesitation in recommending the Haven Arms.

Went for their 2023 valentine's meal. Absolutely bloody gorgeous! The food was out of this world. Really fancy menu but generous portions too! Can tell some real effort had gone into that meal it was delicious! Atmosphere was good with the fire going felt really homely and welcoming and the singer on the the night was absolutely brilliant. Absolute bargain price too... Can't believe it's so reasonably priced. We will definitely be going back, can't wait 😁

A tasty sunday dinner which included home made Yorkshire puddings. Proper potatoes too. Nice atmosphere and clean surroundings

I was going to leave a review on your Facebook page but for some reason I cannot work out how to do it. But honestly the carvery I had today was absolutely amazing and I used to work in a carvery for many years. The service was also spectacular, seated as soon as we arrived, drinks came very quickly, was told to wait for the restock of carvery which I find very good! (No one wants to only see a tiny bit of veggies in a dish on the deck) didn't wait too long either. Was definitely worth the wait! A massive choice of meats and vegetables which for me was out of this world. All meats were cooked to perfection, simply lent my fork on the meat and it fell apart 😍 all veg was very tasty too. Nothing seemed too much trouble at all. Plates were taken as soon as we had finished too. Always asked if everything was ok with our meals throughout. Even the carvery chef stopped to speak to us about the food at the bar as we were paying. I couldn't recommend this place enough and it's definitely not known to as many people as it should. I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't spent 20 minutes looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch and I'm over the moon I've found this little gem hiding away in the fields 😍 we will be back without a doubt and I cannot wait to tell my family and friends about this place. The pub itself is very homely and cosy which I love the feel of. Everything all clean and tidy and all staff seemed very pleasant. Sometimes hard to find these days. We go here for a meal quite often on a Sunday, The the food is delicious, the choice of meat & vegetables is far greater than any other carvery I have previously been to. Staff always friendly, welcoming & efficient. Really can recommend , Very good value.

We held our daughters 30th birthday party at the haven arms recently. Mark and Alison were so helpful with all our party requests. The party room looked lovely and the buffet was delicious and plentiful. Thanks guys. You made my daughters night so special. X

The buffet was delicious and there was loads of choice and plenty of food. We had a fantastic evening and my daughter said she had the best birthday ever!

We regularly eat here for our Sunday Roast and as usual food was beautiful, great food options - including desserts to chose from, staff lovely and accommodating and of course the beer excellent quality. Can totally recommend. Well done guys, see you next week!

The Haven Arms hosted a perfect birthday party for my Auntie’s 80th. The staff were so accommodating and let us decorate the room. The servers were very polite. The Carvery was delicious with such an excellent choice of meats and different vegetables and the roasties were amazing. The chef was really friendly too. Definitely recommend.

All in all the Sunday Carvery was a reasonably priced and tasty meal BUT, as we had experienced previously, the management performance seriously lets the place down. We saw that there were insufficient Yorkshire Puddings for our party. Replenishment took too long to appear at the pass (especially as we had pre-booked our table so they had known how many there would be to feed). We asked for Horseradish Sauce to accompany the roast beef and were told several minutes later that there was none (Later the Head Chef was seen serving up his own meal and helping himself to a sizeable portion if said sauce from a jar!). Two of our party were served the scrap ends of a pork joint and a beef joint that would have been better saved to use in a pie than serving up to a carvery guest. The wait to clear our plates was in excess of 15 minutes whereupon we asked what desserts were available. Almost 10 minutes later the waitress returned to take our dessert orders but then it was another 20 minutes before they appeared. Two ‘hot’ desserts were actually served luke warm (almost cold) with warmish custard. One of those was stale. The chef visited our table and asked if everything had been okay but did not listen to our response before moving away. The chef wore dirty jeans (that revealed his butt crack), a grubby t-shirt and a grubbier chef white jacket. The bathroom had an unhygienic soap dispenser and damp kitchen roll for drying hands. Perhaps, this place would be better under new ownership/management.

Went for a Sunday Carvery. Waited for some time before we were actually allowed up for our food. Gentleman carving the meat we all felt was rather rude and gruff and could do with laundering his T-shirt, perhaps find one that would cover his exposed belly and rear and wear a chef shirt large enough to also cover exposed skin. There were only two Yorkshire puddings to feed our large table until after we were sat and had started eating. We asked for Horseradish to go with our roast beef and were told there was none, only to see the chef serve himself some from a jar after we had eaten. The main meal, in all, was enjoyable and tasty despite the lack of Horseradish. It took forever for our plates to be cleared and for hot desserts to be served of which mine was stale and served cold with slightly warm custard. All in all, service was abysmal, head carver was rude, but main meal was enjoyable. I also saw a customer go back to the carvery and add more food to the plate they had already eaten from, food safety and environmental health would have something to say on this. The whole facility just looks run down and unloved. Toilets lacked the necessary sanitary needs for a disabled person with no mounted toilet paper within easy reach - additionally, hand soap is not hygienically dispensed and kitchen towel on a roll to dry your hands leaves a lot to be desired. Given the opportunity, I would offer three stars out of five, with a recommendation the chief carver clean himself up both inside and out, find a few pleasantries and a little less attitude. Make more condiments available to customers and improve on the dessert selection, quality and presentation to improve your star rating in the future. Hoping my feedback is noticed as I would like to go back if I knew my concerns had been addressed.

Having visited here on Sunday 12th June with my family we was greeted buy a member of staff who was very friendly and helpful and showed us to our table.then the owner of the pub then came over and greeted us and told us that we can proceed to the carvery and went on to tell us how many meats were on.they was every meat you could think of so I choose the lamb and beef then helped ourselves to the rest I can honestly say it’s the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had 👍well done to all involved will be back very soon

We went here on Sunday the 15\05\22 and had the carvery the staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us from the young man behind he bar who couldn't do enough for us right through to the chef all the staff were helpful and friendly I had the lamb and the beef both cooked perfectly and what a selection of egetables my plate was cleaned up completely after my only downside was I ate to much and couldn't sample the puddings 🤣 looks are deceptive and people shouldn't be put of by the outside as it is very clean inside it is warm welcoming and very clean

I visited The Haven Arms yesterday for a Sunday Carvery with my husband and mother-in-law. The food and service was fantastic and I'd highly recommend it. Great value and lots of choice of veg to go with a good variety of meats. If I had to give a criticism it would be about the exterior look of the building. Outside looks very tired and in need of renovation/decoration. Whilst it didn't put me off, it could deter other customers. My advice would be to look past this, the welcome, service and quality of the food more than made up for it. Phrase "don't judge a book by it's cover" springs to mind. We look forward to returning. Visited here for meal before boarding ferry, It was out of the way but worth a visit , I had attempted to prebook as it was Sunday carvery but booking hadn’t gone through , however the very helpful friendly staff fitted us in . The food was delicious and obviously home cooked a varied choice for a buffet and reasonably priced . Parts of the place were a little tired but wouldn’t hesitate in returning especially for Sunday buffet . Couldn’t fault any of the staff they were all very efficient making sure we had everything we needed .

I have reviewed Haven Arms before, still as impressed as ever, food served piled high on individually placed orders rather then served at an open carvery but...... To be fair everything was really well organised and the super friendly staff made our visit enjoyable. No rush to move us on even though our large numbers filled a corner. Truly efficient but with a real friendly manner. Food was lovely and piping hot, empty plates returned to the kitchen ! Thank you all again for a wonderful day.

This pub is our local and we eat here regularly. Great Sunday carvery but also excellent fish and chips and steaks as well as great beers and wines. At the time of writing we are all struggling with coronavirus but Mark and Alison have diversified to offer excellent food via a drive thru facility. Great community service and still excellent quality food. It's what great pubs are all about!!

Spot on food absolutely lovely no complaints

Visited on a recommendation for a family meal. Although the place is undergoing a refurb and they were having some issues following the storm, this meal was fantastic. Interesting menu choices (thankfully as I am not a pub food fan!), all dishes well presented and tasted great. It isn’t fast food as it’s obviously all prepared to order so allow a little extra time for your meal. Would definitely return, the big bonus was that if you dine in the bar area it’s dog friendly too!

Not bad at all. Had a good steak and couple of beers, kids had child options and wife had steak too. Steaks were cooked as we had ordered (mine medium, the wifes was cremated) sides were good and the four of us eating only cost about £50 which I thought was really good value. Recommended.

I found Haven Arms pleasant. A good round of joyfully people inside. It was very warm and welcoming.

I give this place 5 stars, lovely pub, lovely food and lovely staff, Alison and Mark always go above and beyond for us, would highly recommend this place for any occasion, after having my wedding here and birthday parties.

Disappointed with Haven Arms food could have been better for choice they like to charge £9 per head with a set up fee for marquee and decoration's and a charge for heating £1.00 per head all inclusive of price

This is a place that has to be experienced. There is a great selection of meat, 4 options at least, and I have never been anywhere else that has the selection of vegetables. They certainly are not miserly with the meat. Please give yourself a treat and try, if you are not 100% happy with the meal I would be shocked. Enjoy.

Great Xmas meal with the local benefice. Service was on form and food was excellent. Would be 5* if table layout was better. Some guests felt quite cramped

Very 1st visit due to attending a speakers luncheon. The ‘lounge’ has an open fire with tables and cubicles in. First time I’ve seen beer pumps attached to a wall. Staff had to disappear into the back room at times to retrieve beer? There was also a ‘carvery’ part which looked like it was presented as to a wedding party to come in, but never did. The speakers function part was a permanent “add-on’ Marquee. Our table didn’t receive a soup as the first course until we complained. Waitresses entered the room in Ad hoc fashion with customer food. Certainly got the impression that no one was in charge or even checking what was leaving the kitchen. Not the worst but wouldn’t put myself out to do another visit.

Away from the centre of Hedon, in a quiet, charming location. Not a snug or quaint sort of pub, but well equipped and laid out, and good for a function. Pleasant and helkpful staff.

I am not a Werewolf but I am from London!. I state this, as I have never experienced the glaring eyes of the hostile locals, nor can I identify the welcome received by the non diners review below by "WoRse1" My fiancee Miranda and I have always received a positive welcome, never contrived nor insincere. Our first visit to the Haven Arms (Many moons ago) when I had specific dietary requirement, ( they were able to accommodate), to us trying out their delicious Sunday carvery. All of this was because of their initial warm welcome consequently becoming a regular haunt and yes their carvery is delicious.The excellent reviews below are simply testimony to how good their fayre and service is and the excellent value for money on offer for their carvery which is definitely worth a visit.The owners Mark and Alison really care about customer service and I know they consider all patrons local, locals of the Haven Arms that is. I always seek out the manager or owner of any establishment if I am ever unhappy, as I believe they should have the opportunity to respond accordingly, that's only fair.. I know a non dining review shouldn't colour the very positive service and food offering we and many others have enjoyed and commented below about but, feel sure that others will see this by personally experiencing the full service on offer. I for one will be returning for some more excellent Lamb, Gammon, turkey, or pork .next Sunday.Thank you Mark And Alison.

I don't know if you can write a review of a place you didn't eat, but here goes.Looking for somewhere to eat on a dark rainy night (I'm really setting the scene here) we ventured to The Haven Arms. We pulled up and entered the bar to be met by the glaring eyes of the hostile locals. Readers, have you seen An American Werewolf in London? Well it was very reminiscent of the scene where the 2 American tourists enter The Slaughtered Lamb and are met by a similar reaction to the one we got - the only difference being we weren't told to, keep clear of the moors! We asked if they were serving food to which we were told NO, and with no explanation as to why. We left and headed to The Camerton where my partner did have the slaughtered lamb, and said it was gorgeous. What can I say, the inbreds loss was The Camerton's gain.

We visited last Saturday for a birthday lunch for my grandma. I'd done a bit of research to find her somewhere not too far from where she lives and where will have a nice atmosphere / food, judging by Tripadvisor Haven Arms seemed to fit the bill.The pictures on Tripadvisor are mainly of the events area for weddings etc or of the place at night. Don't be put off if you do arrive in the daytime at the rusticness of the building from outside, it does have some character inside the dining area.The dining area we were directed to when we entered the building (we took the left turn and was opened up to a very rustic looking pub, firstly thought oh no we've come to the wrong place!) was quite nice, a bit old fashioned but then again I'm used to very modern places in the big cities. We were the only ones in which had its good and bad points. Good that we had 1-1 service and could hear our chats and didn't have to raise voices etc, bad as I started to overthink and ponder why it was so quiet, was it a bad choice etc)We ordered from their main menu. Lasagne, Fish and Chips and Chicken Breast. The portions were huge, great value for money (dishes priced around £10-15 a main)We waited a tiny bit longer then expected for our food (considering we were only ones in) but to be fair the waitress did come and explain the hold up was due to cooking the chicken breast as it had brie inside etc, which was understandable.Food tasted nice, only minor complaint is that my girlfriend asked for some mayonnaise (she loves it) but we were informed that last of it was used for the coleslaw in the Lasagne. Would have been nice to have some sachets or something as an alternative to a pot etc.I suspect on a summers afternoon / evening it will be filled with more visitors / locals which would make your experience a bit more lively. But for us it was quite nice to spend time with Grandma just chatting between us all.Can imagine it would be nice on an evening, if you had a wedding next door in the marque however could prove noisy.8/10 from us, Grandma enjoyed her birthday lunch, thank you to the lady who served and looked after us, a very friendly local!

We have just celebrated our Diamond wedding anniversary with a party for family and friends at the Haven Arms Hedon, what a fantastic day it was, the carvery was superb, the layout of the Marquee was beautiful the staff were incredibly helpful, if you are thinking of having a wedding or anniversary, birthday or just a meal out I would deffinately 100% recommend Hedon Haven.

The Best place for Sunday lunch, super choice of meats including Lamb that you don't get anywhere. Super choice of veg and just delicious. Very friendly staff , it could do with a bit of a makeover in the part where the food is served . But will recommend for sure. Thankyou Dianne & Krystian.

It was a family gathering of ten adults and one grandson. We all tucked into a feast fit for a King. Some of us had eyes bigger than our bellies. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was first class. Our family will certainly be returning. It was a very happy Fathers Day.

First of all a big thank you to the staff for all your hard work. We had our Wedding reception in the marquee which was done out beautifully, we had a starter followed by the carvery and a dessert. We also so had a buffet at night and not one complaint for anyone it was amazing, also we had the resident DJ for our entertainment who helped start the party.

Fantastic service and good. Staff polite and nothing is too much trouble. Would recommend this place and give it 10 stars.

On driving up to the pub it looks very run down and in need of tidying up this is also the same as the inside worn out seating and walls . Had a carvery. I was terrible worst ive had for a long time Yorkshire pud was like cardboard and un eatable very lumpy mash dry meats .

Stopped in for Sunday lunch. Great selection of vegetables and puddings. Would have been better if the dinner plates had been warmed as the food cooled fairly quickly. Still enjoyed it and will go again.

Nice cosy pub. I have visited for 2 wedding receptions, 1 in the function room and 1 in the marque. Both were really good, nicely decorated, friendly bar staff and really tasty buffets.
