2 of the 3 stars go to the pub itself, the food, is very reasonably priced and good, although my pie could have fed 2 people, and the staff who were very friendly. 1 star goes to the room itself which was very warm but rather tired. The mattress was knackered. I've had better nights sleep while camping! It wouldn't hurt to at least put out a little bar of hand soap and install a toilet paper holder. There was also still evidence of mold in the bathroom. It's the little things and attention to detail that matter to people and you'd expect businesses to be aware of especially when they're charging £70 a night.

We arrived after a long drive to our beautiful cabin. The cabin was very clean and tidy and was equipped with everything you need. The hot tub is hot, very hot, so much so I wasn't sure my partner could get in. The only small issue for us was the lack of a mirror. there is only one in the bathroom. Would benefit from a mirror in the bedroom. The grounds are very well kept. The pub it's self was great. Staff all very friendly, food was lovely, and they do special food nights throughout the week. It is about a 40-minute drive to York, which was perfect for us. We would definitely recommend and will visit again.

Had a very pleasant and relaxing stay this week at Ye Olde Red Lion and travelled with parents who have been several times before. The pub is in a quiet location and a great place to have some down time and quite honestly couldn't fault it in any way. The room was basic but represents excellent value for money and has everything you need and even included a full cooked breakfast. All the staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful which really makes you feel welcome and allows you to relax and the other guests were also very sociable and made time to say hello and have small talk, I think this is fostered as it is a small venue in terms of the accomodation. The pub itself is very traditional inside, welcoming and really nice, and has a good selection of quaity drinks. Tbh we thought that the evening meal had been very busy as they'd done 75 covers that day but when we spoke to staff they said that they had done 150 the week before! So it may be advisable to book a table in advance to avoid disappointment.

A hidden gem in the back of beyond! Although not so hidden as fully booked! Food fabulous although portions too big so couldn't finish. Service great. Rooms a little tired but did the job, take an extension lead as only 2 electric sockets in the room (for tv and kettle) so phone charging, hairdryer etc. a challenge.

The olde red lion is a nice traditional pub. There is a wide range of beers, lagers, and cider, including two hand pulled cask conditioned real ale, the cask ale is expensive. There's no pool table of dart board it is more of a food pub. It is a nice cosy pub with a good reputation for the food although I haven't tried it myself. The staff were very friendly there is a nice outside seating area with a small koi carp pond and a large car park.

We were made aware of this pub by a local wedding venue and had a one night stay. We ate in the pub at lunchtime and the food was good with generous portions and reasonably priced although the drinks were expensive. We were given the key to our room ( no7) and told “it’s down the path “ The first issue was the fact that the lock was extremely temperamental and very difficult to open and lock again. The door was also very ill fitting. On finally entering the room, we discovered that there were only two plug sockets. One for the tv and one for the kettle/hairdryer/phone charger etc. The main ceiling light did not work and the other lights tended to flicker. The decor and furnishings are extremely dated. The wardrobe was falling apart. The bathroom was not particularly clean and there were no toiletries available. There was also no toilet roll holder and one dangerous aspect is the temperature control on the shower is broken and the only temperature was scalding hot! This is a health and safety issue. The breakfast was adequate however there was no option for eggs other than scrambled because the hob wasn’t working. There was no formal checkout procedure, keys were just left on the bar. There were no staff around to hear any concerns we had. We respectfully suggest that the management invest some money and time into the rooms as they obviously gain a lot of custom from the local wedding venue. There were at least 3 rooms occupied by wedding guests to my knowledge. If they were better decorated and appointed, we can see no reason why the management could not ask for a higher price for the rooms. Unfortunately, unless there is a vast improvement in the facilities, we would not return.

We were extremely disappointed with our room. We initially had trouble even opening the door. The main room light didn’t work. There were only two sockets in the room and one was allocated to the tv. There were no toiletries in the bathroom ( fortunately we had brought our own). The shower temperature was 0-nearly boiling and there was no means of adjusting it as the tap didn’t work. Also there was no toilet roll holder so we had to balance it on the sink We appreciate that the stay is reasonably priced, but there needs to be a lot more attention to detail in the rooms.. We ate in the pub and the food was excellent and the portion sizes were extremely generous. Great value for money in the restaurant.

Choose and booked this place as it was recommended by nearby wedding venue as we were attending a wedding being held there. First impressions were all good. Until my partner sat on the very thin cheap uncomcortable mattress. Then to discover only 2 plugs to which tv and kettle are plugged in. Door often needs more attention and effort for locking. Needs quite abit of attention to detail Very cheap and basic won't be returning.

I wouldn’t recommend going here. The older lady who serves at the bar consistently rips you off on prices for drinks. I had 2 pints of lager and a cider which cost me £19. This is extortionate for the area. The quality of the food is also not worth the money, as there are plenty of other pubs with excellent food for the same price in other villages around the area. Not worth going, only convenient because there is little else in Holme.

We stayed in a twin bed brick built chalet, the beds were very comfortable and it was clean. Gave a new meaning to spartan! We were led to believe they were for self catering, with no fridge, no cooking facilities!!? I think they called them that to get out of supplying some toiletries! The main building is a typical village type pub with dark oak panelling with a homely welcoming feeling. Would have been a great place except for the price of the beers. On ordering a meal on our first evening they were swimming in gravy, I don't mind that so much but my wife hates it, should have been in a boat so you could use as much or little as you wanted, it was a generic gravy so there's no reason to not serve separately. I couldn't in all honesty recommend those rooms to stay in, it's only redeeming feature was the outsize TV. Could not find or connect to the wi-fi. Drinks are over priced and the meals are nothing to write home about. On balance it was disappointing, would not recommend to anyone.....unless I didn't like them!!!

Got this as a gift for my other half we booked and went in march. All staff were lovely and very approachable. The food was amazing only had time for breakfast with them but could tell all meat was what I class as “proper butchers meat” full of flavour and cooked perfect for us. Didn’t have much guidance as to how breakfast worked initially just where it was held we wasn’t sure if it was a help yourself style etc so sat down and when the waitress came out she took our order. Was only her on so couldn’t ask anyone how it worked etc but she did a great job with how busy it was. We had a double room outside nice and minimal in the room however did smell damp but nothing we was concerned with as can get that with having showers etc in the same vicinity. We were however a bit disappointed with the mattress was very thin and both me and my partner came away with sore backs from it felt like we were just sleeping on the base. We noticed the shower leaked due to split sealent leaving the carpet outside of the bathroom wet after a shower and upon opening the wardrobe area we noticed damp circles in there. 3 of the wall lights didn’t work again no real issue there as the main lights worked fine.Bathroom window didn’t lock shut. Mirror was broken at the bottom but nothing that was of concern it was more the leaking of the shower they did say they were sorting the little bits of mould out. I wish I took photos but didn’t think at the time. I do feel they need to shut room 2 and sort the hiccups out before they have a bigger problem to sort out. Would go back to stay but would visit for food if I’m in the area.

Personally we would not recommend it. We stayed for 2 nights in the wellington pod with our 2 children. On arrival at the accommodation we quickly realised there were no ladders for the bunk beds, apparently they were broken the day before, not ideal when you have kids and you have to lift them on and off! Hot Tub required fixing twice, while the person was repairing the hot tub we informed them that there was glass all around the area, the person just responded saying "I don't think there's any glasses missing", not the point my children and I could cut ourselves! In the bedroom, a leopard print towel was shoved down by the bed and curtain it was obvious it had not been cleaned properly. I did mention this but it was ignored. Not one mirror in the whole pod, apparently broken the night before along with the ladders, just replace it! One spot light in the bedroom had at least 10 flies dead around it, just wipe it off. I have to mention the beds...awful spring beds, I can only describe them as medieval. The pub was great for food and drinks we really enjoyed it. I don't enjoy putting negative reviews on but the staff didn't seem to care about our issues, that for us was disappointing.

Stayed for 2 nights as a gift for Christmas from our son and his girlfriend. Only ate there once apart from breakfast included in the price and it was lovely. Stayed in chalet 2 which was in need of a little tlc. There is plenty of room in the wardrobe and drawers and the bed was lovely and comfortable but the decor was abit shabby, frayed curtains, broken mirror frame, dirty sink, alot of black mould spots and on leaving and checking all the drawers found a book and some ladies underwear that had clearly been missed on the clean prior to us arriving. The village, one street has nothing to do there is a bakery, a Chinese takeaway, a morrisons, pizza place, one other pub and a chippy ( The Catch) which served absolutely gorgeous fish and chips. There is Beverly near by which we visited with a beautiful minster, pubs and shops. Not saying I wouldn't visit again but would be more prepared next time. The staff and pub were very welcoming.

We met here for a family lunch. We had difficulty parking as there was a function on, the roof was being replaced also so quite a few work vans. There was only one fire lit near the bar that we could see and as we were at the far end of the pub it was cold. The radio was quite loud so you had to raise your voice to talk and the banging from the roofers was off putting. I was advised they were busy when we booked but not that the roof was being replaced. The food looked very nice and large portions. Lasagne was tasty, hunters chicken was good and the steak pie itself was really nice, however the gravy was very salty which spoilt the overall taste. I think under normal circumstances we would have enjoyed the meal more had the noise from the roof and radio not been present. However the gravy does need tasting before serving.

We stayed at Ye Olde Red Lion as a gift from my son. We had no problems with the booking process, check in was easy and we arrived on Wednesday, which was Pie night. Very popular and well worth the £7 each as the pies (6 or 7 different varieties) were all home cooked. The steak pie was delicious. We stayed in one of the chalets, but had the option of taking one of the glamping pods at an extra cost. The chalets are neat and tidy, well heated, plenty of wardrobe space and hangers with a good selection of teas and coffees. We took the cooked breakfast which was tasty and wholesome, setting us up for the day. On our second night we opted for the steak dinner and again, we weren't disappointed. The Red Lion is closer to Beverley than York and both are worth a visit with quaint, olde worlde streets and excellent minsters. Not far from Beverley is the Humber Bridge and the country Park, and of course from there you can get to Hull. All in all a very satisfying stay.

Lovely little pub food was outstanding all homemade. We stayed for a wedding and had one of the rooms in a small building in the carpark like a mini bungalow. Ours was quite dated and had mould in the corners so we had to open the windows overall kept clean. Our friends had an updated one with newer furniture/bed. However we were at a wedding so hardly spent anytime in it. The pods look fantastic but alot more money. Breakfast was delicious again cooked fresh. Would definitely go back for food

What a little gem of a place! We bought a deal on Groupon, £60 for two nights bed and breakfast, so for that money we really weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly suprised! Check in was smooth. We had one of the cabin type rooms and it was basic but clean. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. The only thing we would change would be the coffee, my husband is a coffee snob so likes his fresh coffee in a morning, nesacafe sachets are never going to cut it for him, but that's just personal preference of course. We had one of our evening meals in the pub itself and it was absolutely delicious. We had the steak and ale pie, it was enormous, we really wanted pudding but were so stuffed that we couldn't fit it in! We will defintely be back.

wife and I had evening meal, most satisfactory. There's a reason it's quite busy. Extensive pub meal menu plus specials board including vegetarian. Local draught ales lagers etc. sit outside at tables if you wish. I had three lamb chump chops about 1" thick each mash and a selection of veg. on reflection I should have drunk the sauceboat of mint gravy, it was so good.

Don't bother wasting your time or money here. Ordered a scampi and chips with beans for my daughter, the chips arrived virtually raw. I ordered lamb chops with minted mash, veg and gravy. The veg never arrived. When the server eventually noticed it took him ten mins to produce A dish of microwaved veg !!! Needless to say the whole lot was sent back. I paid for drinks and left !!! I doubt the owner will wish to have a conversation with me, but if they do I'll be more than willing to share the dire experience I've just had.

Fantastic pub, stayed here a few times on business always in one of the chalets. Perfect, like your own space for the night, soap, towels etc provided. Breakfast amazing and as for evening meals, well I think the car park tells you all you need to know about the quality, from 430 till 830 absolutely full with restaurant guests….. highly recommend staying here. Wonderful place

Stayed for 3 nights on a Wowcher deal. Rooms in chalet style at back of pub were very clean & tidy but slightly dated. Ate all 3 nights in restaurant, excellent food. American theme night on Wednesday & Thursday, really good value, all you can eat buffet. Had 3 breakfasts included also in the deal. Again very good food & lovely friendly staff. Would have given 5 stars but the only let down was each morning we went for breakfast the restaurant floor had not been cleaned from night before, so there was food on the floor. Dropped chips & pieces of meat, crumbs etc. Wouldn't take long to run a hoover around before opening up.

Initially everything on the outside was lovely when we arrived. The room needed a bit of tlc as the sink was damaged, huge big crack in it and the tap wasn't screwed down. Mould round the bathroom window and the towels were all frayed and fit for the bin. Food wasn't great either chips were burnt but hard on the inside and everything was swimming in grease. It wasn't cheap either, I don't mind paying the price as long as the food is good. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but stayed one. Next door even tried to get in our room at one point as he clearly had too much to drink. Then we were woken at 6ish with banging and loud talking.

Sorry but the food was terrible, the fish / prawn pie had no prawns in it plus it was dry, the brie tart was poor. Shame as we were recommended by someone who said it was good.

I heard the fantastic news that the owners Romit and Dejvani are finally moving on. Thank goodness! Will not be missed. They've changed their office address to Blackburn and announced on Social Media that they have closed the doors for the last time. Good riddance
