Capricorn Restaurant , Bar & Playbarn in East Riding of Yorkshire

We attended a fun private party at the Capricorn. Potential to be good but drinks a problem I Don't drink lager or beer so ordered a whisky almost finished a double when I saw loads of dead flies, looked like fruit flys, in the bottom of my glass. Took this to staff who just took it and did not offer a replacement. Later I saw them remove the bottle from the shelf and pour down the sink. Yuk.

Dirty toilets you could smell faint waste from the toilets every where. The Carling tasted awful, dated interior and expensive for drinks and not enough staff.

When to a wedding doo here with my wife and kids. The men toilets smell was the worse I ever smell before is was disgusting. I had a pint of larger can’t drink it as it was flat and awful. Had to go into bottles. The staff didn’t look happy to be there. Then got told the last orders was at 10:15 and had to be out for 11pm. I will never go again

I attend in a professional capacity, I'm a multi genre mobile DJ. Staff always make me feel welcome and the guests I was hired to entertain leave with a positive attitude towards the venue and employees.

Went to a party here. Very over priced. Wouldn't come here if it wasn't for an event.

This place is the perfect place to take children on a winter's afternoon . My grandson loved the play area which looked so clean and looked after and had the advantage of being able to see in the play area on the screens in the eating area . Lovely meals served by friendly waitress and very reasonable priced drinks . Will definitely be returning often to this venue

I was treated to a wonderful afternoon tea by my daughters yesterday. The food was lovely had a great time ate too much and drank too much tea. Lovely atmosphere there was a kids disco on at the same time and it was wonderful to see so many having a great time. Great experience as always

Carvery OK was a bit disappointed with the soft pla, area looked dark, smelt of damp if this was improved we would perhaps go again

Had a fantastic meal other week with my son so thought we would go back again today.The food is amazing the best cauliflour cheese i have ever had. The staff are the best by far nothing is ever too much trouble. Today was a mega busy day. A christening and a large family xmas meal and still the staff were amazing. The bar was always busy but the girls were there on cue working to their best ability. Kitchen staff kept the carvery full on ongoing. It looked and tasted amazing see you next sunday capricorn.

Went for an afternoon tea baby shower it was beautiful food amazing staff very helpful and food very quick especially with how busy it was

Came in today with my son for a carvery he didnt want to play and i can honestly say well done chef and Capricorn team it is the best ive ever had today.We will definitely br back soon. Love the atmosphere of the place.

This must be the best carvery in this area , homemade Yorkshire puds and the parsnips are fantastic . Lovely relaxed atmosphere and the staff were so friendly and professional . Highly recommended

we came for lunch today. Homemade lasagna was delicious, my other half had a burger and enjoyed it. Loved the way it was served. Service and staff were very good. We will be visiting again

Every year I get all my children and grandchildren to a pre Christmas lunch and today we had it at Capricon, I have to say we have found the perfect place and we had an amazing time the venue atmosphere and staff were teriffic nothing was to much trouble the grandchildren aged between 4 &16 said it's been the best one this year the play barn was a massive hit with them the food was delicious we were even given space to set up a crafts table for the children to make things and a photo area my girls were so impressed and have asked to get it booked for next year's, so all that is left to say is thank you to all involved we had the best time making perfect memories xx

What a great place to bring kids to play in a safe, fun environment and with lovely food. Huge portions especially the burgers! All at great prices.

we were there on wednesday evening the 28th of august 2019 i ordered a steak and mushroom pudding and it was made of pastry not suet the gravy was like thick gloopy tar it was horrible we informed the waiter about this when she came to clear the table and half of my meal i left.my wife ordered a chicken burger that was made with 2 thin slices of processed chicken covered in bread crumbs the salad was dry and horrible and ther was very little of it .it was the worst meal out we have ever had and we would not go there again evenif the meal was free.the environment of the place it is in the celler of the building it was dark and dingy and there was a smell of dampness in the place.never again will we go there.

Went today to try out the play barn with my two children. The bar looked lovely and so did the soft play area, really nice and clean. Unfortunately the area where the soft play equipment is housed had the strongest smell of damp. It was disgusting and even my children said they couldn’t play in there with the smell. So disappointing. We packed our things up and left. Won’t be visiting again until the smell has been sorted. Such a shame as it looked so promising.

Went to the Capricorn for a carvery it was amazing playbarn was great for kids, staff were very friendly and restaurant was beautiful couldn’t fault the place

Lovely food, fantastic value for money. Play barn so clean. Kids had so much fun. Staff lovely, polite and nothing too much trouble. Will definetly be back to visit again.

Cant really rate this as i didnt eat !! But what sort of restaurant stop cooking food at 6.30pm cause they have a wedding booked in for next day - hows about u get more staff if u cant manage to run a restaurant with a wedding booking the next day !! How do u think other business do it they dnt shut shop .. Will i come again think not cba with time wasters !

We were back at the Capricorn for my cousins birthday, the place is still fantastic and the staff are so welcoming and polite, we had young children in our party that had a fantastic time in the play area and having cctv screens of the play area in the main restaurant meant that the parents could relax and have a good catch up with other family menbers. We highly recommend this place and we are planning to return again soon as we have heard that the Sunday Carvery is the best in the area.

Had a carvery here yesterday it was beaut the cauliflour cheese is to die for, I only eat turkey and that was amazing too, parsnips were cooked to perfection defo be going back next Sunday might even treat my mum to one too she loves a good carvery. The staff are so helpful nothing is too much trouble.

Great underground restaurant that has very helpful and friendly staff. Top quality food, the carvery was really lovely. Definitely the best in goole without a doubt!

They were serving warm, flat beer and cans of coke from multi packs and charging you £1.80. Basically Wetherspoons beats The Capricorn hands down !!

Having rung and booked a table for a friends birthday, we arrived at the restaurant for it to be closed tried ringing for 10 mins and left. Went to a neighbouring restaurant to see if they had availability. Tried ringing Capricorn back and they eventually answered too little too late. We booked this as we’d not tried it before and wanted to show our friends. Safe to say we won’t be trying it again. Very disappointed.

We threw my mums surprise 50th birthday here and the staff were absolutely fantastic! They couldn’t do enough for us, Gill and Beth were on shift and they were fab! There was another girl on shift too but I didn’t know her name.

Lovely place, staff are lovely and always welcoming. The food is always great. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Found it to be a bit scruffy inside but has a nice kids play centre on the side of restaurant and food is okay

As regular visitors to the Capricorn, who was there for opening day and been regulars since then, we have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. But today a 2 hour wait for food is unacceptable but to then receive substandard, uncooked food or plates with items missing from them is beyond a joke. While the young lady who delt with our complaint was lovely and did her best to rectify the situation, upon expressing our upset at receiving such a poor experiance, to the manager her response that it was her day off really and excuse that it had been a busy day, does not promote a buisness that appreciates return custom or cares about the experience they are giving people who chose to frequent their restaurant. Linsey appears to be the best person to run the place.

Wasn't sure about this place from the outside. Went in and it is lovley place plenty of room. Loved carvery plenty of choice of veg. Was asked if wanted a dessert but was to full haha. With not living in goole wasnt to sure where to go to eat. I will recommend this place and will go again next time I'm in goole. Was great value for money

Visit often and stay for hours, love the playbarn and the staff are great, especially Lyndsey. Its comfortable and the food is always good. Thank you Team Capricorn.

Went for valentines day meal, the food and the service was absolutely spot on, people of Goole, you don't know what you missed out on. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for any future events. Cheers 🥂

Beautiful Sunday Carvery. Fantastic staff.

Went for an 18th and staff were physically pushing people out the door into freezing cold and windy weather at 12am with no way to get home. One woman was really sarcastic saying “It’s nice and warm in here”.

A party of four of us went for the New Year's Day carvery. It was perfect ! food was hot and plentiful and staff were brilliant. Lovely atmosphere, will definitely go again, thanks Capricorn , would highly recommend.

Restaurant looks ok we were at a kids party. Cramped party room. A lot of money for what you get!! Good part was toilets clean which is a big bonus.

Table of 12 including kids. Food was quick and tasty and very reasonably priced. Kids loved the play barn and spent ages in there. Just what Goole needs.

Had our daughters 18th birthday party here. We were told we could set up early but on the day we were told we couldn’t as it was busy with customers. We were told that the tables would be set up for us as on booking they asked where we wanted the tables placing and where the DJ was to go. However we had to move the tables and chairs with no help what so ever and the lad cleaning the tables was using a floor brush to sweep the debris from the tables then swept the floor with the same brush!

I came here in Dec for the first time to a Xmas party night. Service was great, all food delivered at the same time (group of 25 on our table) Food was lovely followed by a great disco. Very friendly staff. Will be booking again next year.

Brilliant venue for events & party's. Goole rufc held their annual Xmas meal hear with over 130 people. Food was spot on and service was excellent. Goole needed somewhere like this. Well done!!!

Table of 9, including 5 children. I can honestly say that today had been one of our best Christmas Day's in recent years, helped by the fact that the playbarn was open for the kids too. The playbarn and the small toddler area set up was perfect and had no negative effect to our dining experience. All too often dining can be spoiled by bored, agitated children but they were all kept safe & quiet..... which made all the difference.

Went for a Christmas dinner with a large family table. The restaurant was quiet which was great and suited us. The soft play area was excellent for the kids in our party and kept them busy whilst the adults chatted.

We were the only ones in at 8pm on a Saturday however still had a 40 minute wait for our food. Not a huge menu and the sight of the kids play area ruins what used to be a beautiful place to eat.

Today myself and my friend visited capricorn for breakfast with santa, the children was able to play in the playbarn and breakfast and a differnt choice of food and drinks was available, tea and coffee was also within the price we had paid which was a bonus! No additional cost. Santa spent time with each child at differnt times within the morning which ment the children didnt have ti queue and wait. The staff was helpful and ensured that there was plenty of food been topped up which was help yourself. Would recommend this to other friends and family

We had our work Christmas party on 1st December. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, the food was great, all 3 courses served in good time and everyone received their food at the same time (60+ attendees). After dinner there was a great party atmosphere, lots of people on the dance floor and good party music to dance to (including taking requests). We look forward to going back there next year!

Just been the to Capricorn and had an amazing Sunday lunch ! Brill service, food hot and so tasty better than home ! We ll definately be returning. Well worth the money.

Such a lovely place with friendly staff and a lovely tasting carvery while the grandchildren played in the playbarn . Well organised and with the reassurance the children playing safely with the help of the cameras to watch them . Will definitely be back

We recently booked my daughters 6th birthday party at the Capricorn. The original booking was for 17 people however this grew to be 22 which was well accommodated for. The day of the party we asked if we could arrive early to put up some decorations around where the party was going to be, on arrival we found that there was a completely separate room already fully decorated and set out ready for when the guests arrived. The main highlight of the party for the kids was the playbarn area, plenty for the kids to do and there was also a smaller area for any younger children, different to other venues the kids got much longer in the play area which went down well. When the time arrived for the food again I was impressed that all the food was of a high standard and went down really well with the kids, we opted for chicken nuggets as an extra at a very reasonable price.

We were lucky enough to be at the Capricorn on Saturday 25th August at a very good friends wedding and I must say how impressed I was by the venue, food and staff.

Great carvery, plenty of choice of meat and vegetables. Huge Yorkshire puds. Been a couple of times and very impressed each time. Friendly staff.

First visit, attended my nieces wedding here. What a beautiful venue! The food was lovely and staff went above and beyond to make the day/evening special. The play area added to the experience as it kept the little ones busy. Can not recommend highly enough.

What a very sad experience, under Mario the Capricorn was a true restaurant experience with a wonderful atmosphere and freshly cooked delicious food. This establishment is so far away from the class the original owner offered. It's very much a place for people who want to chat with their mates over a plate of frozen chips while their children run around without any supervision. The place has absolutely nothing positive going for it. The food is vile and the menu offer extremely limited to plastic micro food. Describing this venue as a restaurant is insulting. It's simply a place for parents/carers to bring their children to run around nosily regardless of other patrons whilst they sit, look at their phones and have a drink. Beyond a joke and somewhere I will tell everyone to avoid like the plague.

Came here with my boyfriend and his little boy, loved it! The carvery was very nice and cooked very well! The home made brownies were very nice too! The play barn was great, the little boy loved it :)

Brought my family here for a quick meal, ended up staying for hours! The kids loved the play area and us grown ups got to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine in peace! Doesn’t feel like a play area at all, very relaxing. Beautiful place. Great staff. Can’t wait to return!

Today visited the Capricorn. This restaurant no longer a place to come and enjoy the food and ambience. Now appear to be concentrating on families and have two play areas. The older play area where parents cannot watch them safely play. Today kids were running amok, noisy and with no supervision.

Excellent food and service, great soft play area. Found on TripAdvisor for a quick stop off on our journey will definitely come back.

I have just tried the sharing platter with a friend. AMAZING!!! great selection of sauces, chicken pieces, onion rings and garlic bread. Loved every bit although didn't try the spicy sauce. More than enough for 2 people at a great price. Will definitely buy again and recommend it!

We took our grandchild for a play in the new Playbarn and had a carvery, it was a great experience and we all enjoyed the time we spent there. Carvery was lovely and the staff so helpful, will definitely be returning.

This is the second time we have visited the Capricorn for a tribute act, this time there was an added bonus of a fish and chip supper. Great idea, was lovely. The act was superb and all very well organised. Really hope they do more of these events.

Absolute amazing carvery today for easter, food cooked to perfection mum loved hers (usually moans about everything lol) and will definatley be coming again, staff helpful friendly welcoming and polite

While visiting Family in the area we visited the Capricorn in Goole, normally when visiting places with a play barn we have to sit in a warehouse with the noise of all the children playing echoing around, these guys have nailed it we were able to sit in a quiet environment and have a our family catch up while the kids played, it was brilliant being able to keep a watchful eye over the children on the CCTV system without having to leave our seats. The staff are passionate about the place and extremely helpful plus the food was great, the restaurant its self is superb.

I visited yesterday (wed 28th) with my 2 children to have lunch and for them to try out the new playbarn. We was not disappointed! The area is clean, warm and a great way for the little ones to burn off a lot of energy. Food was served very quickly and efficiently, Not to mention delicious. The staff were very helpful and friendly also. Well done to all of you for giving goole a place where families can enjoy a good meal and entertain the children all under one roof.

Lovely place - quality furnishings for a grown up meal with the addition of a play barn to keep the little ones occupied. As a grandma of 12 I find myself sitting in play centres on a pastic chairs with freezer to table food - what a pleasant surprise !! This place has it all - loads of room to move around - A beautiful place to hold a wedding reception - Staff are friendly and professional and nothing is too much trouble-can’t wait for my first carvery on Sunday !!!

Did the carvery and play today with both kids and the hubby! Both kids loved the play area and I felt at ease leaving the children to play whilst I could see them on the tv screen. Loved the little baby bit to leave my daughter playing whilst I ate my meal in peace. Food was hot lots of veg to choose from and a lovely carvery in all. It was nice to have a play and carvery so my kids could eat a proper meal rather than the usual nuggets and chips that you get everywhere else! Will definitely make it a regular family outing.
