The food highlights were the beetroot Panna cotta, and the brownie with raspberry ice cream. The main meal of pear and roquefort salad was on the small side but perfect for a smaller appetite. The service was attentive. The only negative I had were some of the lighting is very harsh and doesn't complement the cosy atmosphere created by the roaring fire, also we were sat near to a really loud table of 4 which meant we left earlier than planned as we couldn't hear each other. I think when we were seated (it was obvious to everyone in the room how loud they were) we could have put into a quiet corner (it was an early booking), there were plenty of empty tables. It's a restaurant, not a private dining experience but, I think it could have been noted and managed.

We were shown to a grotty table, saying that the other tables were booked out. But after we'd been seated other people after us were allowed on them. That aside, the food was poor and the seasonal veg was from frozen and incredibly tastless. The lamb and mint pie had a very weird taste to it and I had to ask for mint sauce to put a taste to it. Had been 13 years ago and was fine, won't come again

Nestling on the bank of the beautiful river Wye, with great views whether from their outside dining area, their upmarket restaurant or the panoramic windows in the bar, this is a hidden delight, easily missed as you pass through Witney. So if you’ve missed it, turn around, look for the yellow sign, and enjoy everything this delightful pub and restaurant has to offer! An excellent choice of draft beers and ciders and one of the best wine lists it has been my privilege to sample. The food is out standing, the portions generous, and superb roasts on a Sunday. The bar is open 11:30 until late! The restaurant 12 until 9. A large private car park welcomes you to a well appointed pub with free pool during the afternoons, The staff team are extremely welcoming, the locals friendly, the food delicious. So whether you’re touring in a motor home, or need space to turn a caravan, or you’re just passing and fancy an excellent meal at very reasonable cost, just go there. You will enjoy your visit! Tim

The perfect English pub! This secluded place in the centre of the Woolhope Dome is in a unique location, too, as geologists and geographers will appreciate. The food and the service were friendly and excellent. The atmosphere inside is the epitome of the classic English pub. The views from the front are lovely. Approach it from the west on the narrow road over the hills and through the fairy-tale-like Haugh Wood. The Crown Inn and Woolhope are worth a trip to visit their own right.

We stayed in the accommodation at the back of the pub. Family weekend away, the accommodation was fantastic and suited our needs perfectly. The owners of the property and pub/staff who worked in the pub were very warm and welcoming. We ordered pizza and kebabs for dinner on our first night and a Sunday Roast, both were delivered to eat in our dining room. Food was delicious, plenty of it and it was piping hot. We enjoyed a pint outside the pub following a long walk, great pint and good atmosphere. Thanks to the team at The Crown

Today was the first time I've come away disappointed. We had a cup of tea and an americano which were fine but i noticed - and remarked upon- that the size of the chocolate cake had been almost halved. It did however remain THE SAME PRICE. i did get a slice for my husband as we had come especially from Newent (we come almost every week) for tea and cake. I guess i was already disgruntled as i decided to forego my 'much smaller than usual' piece of cake and go hungry. When the drinks arrived there were none of the usual biscuits that we so enjoy to accompany them. I was told they had run out. When i commented on the size of the cake and the fact that it should have been accordingly cheaper, i was told there was a mistake in the cutting. As i said, i left very disappointed today....and we were good customers.

I come here every time I fly home. Never disappoints, always fresh and tastes amazing. There was a new server, he was in training, I didn’t take his name but he had an Irish accent. Very helpful and attentive. I ordered Edamame Beans for the first time to try, and chilli mushrooms, we loved them. Also Chicken Raisukaree. My only issue is the door is very draughty if someone opens it too far and it stays open, It’s uncomfortable to sit with a draught, so I always ask away from the door.

Went here on a recommendation and was disappointed tbh. I was expecting afternoon tea and loved the idea of a Halloween theme. Plenty of cake, great presentation and friendly staff albeit we were hovered over throughout our visit which was off putting. Car park was so busy it was hard to park and afternoon tea did not include a pot of tea! In summary, over priced and whilst the food was nice, it was basic and we felt like we were being rushed out from the moment we arrived. Sorry to leave a negative review, it’s a lovely setting and could easily be a much better experience.

This establishment is not consistent with quality of food. This is probably down to various members of staff standing in for the cooks role. The portions could be larger too. A shame really as the staff are nice enough. Consistently good food served in generous portions could turn this pub into a gold mine.

Walk-in at 6.00 on a Saturday evening, as we happened to be in the area and lived the look of the menu. Nobody greeted us, but we asked the lady who appeared to be in charge whether they were serving food that evening. She rolled her eyes. The conversation then went as follows: Her: Have you booked? Us: no, I'm afraid we haven't. Her: Huh. (Rolls eyes again, goes over to the bookings list). It's very quiet, but I don't really want to do any more today. Us:... Her: I suppose I could do 7 o'clock... Us: Don't worry, bye! Her: Huh. No way were we going to give our business to somewhere with such a bad attitude. But it turned out well for us - we ended up at the Lal Bagh Bangladeshi restaurant down the road, and had possibly the best curry we've ever eaten!
