Visited with a couple of friends last week for their Christmas Menu. Lovely warm welcome and shown to our table straight away. We had pre booked the food which was served in super fast time and absolutely delicious. So impressed that tried to book a table to visit with another friend but fully booked. Great food and staff. Really impressed. Will definitely be going there again soon.

They can't be bothered to answer the phone so checked on line - open Sundays 12 noon to 5.15 pm. Drove 30 minutes only to be told they don't serve after 1 to 1.30pm and it was about 2.30pm. What is the point of a web site if it lies? The place is dingy, 30 years out of date and the 'autumn leaves' around the entrance porch and the flower wall inside, are tacky in the extreme. Don't know what the food is like as, unless you can find a way of booking and turning up in the 1 hour allotted, you'll never know. The place and the owners, need a kick up the botty into the 21st century.

Picnic bench was amazing. We were given takeaway bags for anything we couldn’t manage. Would definitely recommend. Lovely friendly staff. Lovely to see Shane.

Had wanted to go for ages but left disappointed. We had the picnic bench and went on a Friday evening hoping for a good atmosphere, we were the only family in there apart from 5 other people. We'd booked months ahead for the picnic bench which we'd been looking forward to and at £24/head we were hoping for something special.However, we were disappointed that this only included 1 x hot dog, a a small portion of nachos and cheese, a small basket of chips, a scone, jam and cream, a cupcake, brownie, sherry glass of Pina colada and a small glass of a bubblegum flavoured soft drink. It was nicely presented and is a novel idea but with 2 cokes and a pint the total bill was any eye watering £82 which I really feel does not represent good value for money even if the experience (sadly without the atmosphere) was different.

Came here with friends for a birthday celebration. Afternoon tea was excellent and reasonably priced for what we had. Shane was super accommodating and friendly. Highly, highly recommend and would definitely go back.

Lovely Sunday roast. Easy to book, excellent welcome and good service. Parking is easy and certainly a place for visitors to the area to go when staying north of Hereford. Be aware when booking the Sunday roast, the servings are generous, come hungry!

This is a great little inn . Famous for the Punic bench but we went to the Sunday Lunch and this is top draw also . Service was awesome and you are made to feel welcome . Thank you for making our dining experience one to remember .

We travelled up from Wales.Love the way the pub is decorated, very picturesque. The picnic benches were a great idea. Good food. Good service and reasonably priced. We are going to be back and will be traveling up every season for the surprise themed picnic benches

So glad our neighbours came here or we’d of never known about it. Me and my husband had the Winter bench which was amazing, so tasty and such a unique idea. Will definitely be visiting again!

We booked and visited on a very cold Sunday. A welcoming hearty fire was awaiting on the log burner and the restaurant was very busy. The premises are quite large and clean and the staff friendly , Sunday lunch was very good piping hot and fresh. We had two courses which were delicious and didn’t need any other food for the rest of the day and we had not stuffed ourselves like the proverbial Xmas turkey , nor left feeling that we had done so. A good choice and I would go again.

Book for a treat for family, there speciality of lunch on a bench. We had the christmas picnic bench. Pub was beautiful in christmas and nutcrackers, you had no idea what you would experience inside. Staff were welcoming. This experience has to be pre booked. The bench arrived on the table loaded with food and variety. We were not disappointed. We will be back in 2023.

Went for my husband’s birthday after seeing all the pictures on social media … way over rated we had the picnic festive bench small portions dry cake small trifles … the pub was cold dirty toilet … nothing special at all won’t be re visiting

My Husband booked this as a surprise for my birthday. I had wanted to go for ages after seeing all the beautiful pictures! We have never been so disappointed. The food was horrible and cold. The decor is so mis-matched that it felt like a warehouse clearance. This is the most over priced Instagramable place we have ever been too. The pictures make it look amazing but it really isn't. If you don't want your illusion of this place to be ruined then just enjoy other people's pictures and keep hold of your money.

Hair found cooked into food! After driving 1hr 40 to the bush inn, located in the lanes just outside the city centre. What was supposed to be the perfect start to birthday celebrations for my mother, we left feeling physically sick. Lovely venue, friendly waitresses, the food we ate tasted good. The best milkshake I have tasted! 10/10 experience! But then, when cutting the fish a long black hair was cooked into the fish/batter. £5 taken off the bill, which we understood as we had eaten the majority of the food. After only consuming this food that day, early hours the following morning I was continuously vomiting. We will not be returning. Very disappointed.

So after hearing and seeing many great reviews about this place we decided it was time to see what everyone was raving about.What better time to go with the government help to eat out scheem in place. We arrived on time and the table was all ready for us. There didn't seem a good choice of draught beers or lager available. Not being a fan of carling I opted for their ale on tap which they were happy for me to sample before I bought which was nice. Without too long to wait the picnic table was brought over to us and the food looked fantastic. The children couldn't decide where to start. We soon tucked in. There was plenty of food available for all of us and we only ordered 3 portions. It was all very tasty and I couldn't really fault any of it. I'd say it was a little overpriced for what you get however with the eat out scheem in place it made it good value for money I ate at lunch and now writing this at 10pm and am still full up!

Such an amazing restaurant to have on our doorstep. As a family we had a takeaway on a Friday every week throughout lockdown and it was nothing but top quality food and service every week! The staff were lovely and professional and nothing was every too much trouble. All precautions were made following government guidelines which put the whole family at ease. Reasonable prices for such lovely food. Can’t wait to return and already have a table booked to eat in very soon.

Visited Wednesday evening for the best of British Picnic table. I’m glad to report that their normal service has resumed. We had a fantastic meal, the service from the staff was great, everyone in the party enjoyed it, We will be happily returning again.

Having been here on numerous occasions for meals and the famous picnic bench and had fantastic food every time, I ordered 3 take away rainbow picnic boxes for my wife’s birthday surprise. I was so disappointed, I asked for chicken burgers in two boxes, all three came with beef,The chips were really greasy, The cookie was hard, to the point that it was too hard to eat. The icing on the rainbow cake tasted really odd, very fake I guess. The pasteurised clotted cream had a funny aftertaste. And to top it all, the chocolate milkshake which cost extra was a disappointment, and tasted of cheap chocolate syrup.We will probably return once the pub is open, but I certainly would not recommend getting the picnic box take away. Which saddens me as it’s good to support local businesses at this time and we all really wanted to enjoy this. And for the price it was it should have been a lovely treat.

We visited yesterday with friends for the picnic bench and it was amazing again. The staff are all so friendly and the food is amazing with very little wait from the time we ordered. People come here from miles around, we ourselves take 1.5 to get here but it's absolutely well worth it. We will be back again soon .. Highly recommended.

Whilst the picnic benches are fun the food quality was pretty poor. A steak pie was just a small amount of gravy and no meat topped with pastry. Lots of sweets which all tasted the same and incredibly sickly.Would have been better had savoury options been of good quality and a better combo of sweets.Place lacks much atmosphere but staff seemed friendly and good parking. Not worth a repeat visit.

We were taken here by some friends for the “picnic bench”. I would best describe this as a small buffet laid out on a bench. We had a turkey roll which was rather dry, a wedge of cheese and some wedges. For dessert a ginger breadman, mince pie, a cheesecake type desert in a shot glass and a baileys hot chocolate. At £18 a head plus drinks id say its fairly expensive for what you get and the quality of it. Overall average food but giving 2 stars due to the experience with cost in mind. I probably wouldn’t visit again.

Great food. Staff went out of their way to accommodate specific dietary requirements where they could, and if not, they offered lots of alternatives. Christmas picnic benches were great value for money and full of lovely treats. Staff very friendly and the pub was child friendly too. Made to feel very welcome considering we came armed with a one year old and three week old baby. Definitely would travel up to visit again

A hidden gem. Visited for a Christmas lunch, which was outstanding. A very good festive menu good service well presented. Delicious veg, wonderful beef and turkey, nothing too much trouble. Desserts to die for.

Overall it was good. The service was fine, no problem. The food, quite a novelty in that picnic bench way,was very nice, we enjoyed the experience.

Recommended the Bush Inn by friends for the picnic lunch. Booked on Saturday early evening. The staff were quite unfriendly on arrival & despite trying some good humour on our part they remained rather sullen throughout. No real effort as picnic bench just dumped on table, no ambience at all to the place. Other reviews have mentioned the miserable staff / management & I can certainly second it. Food was okay for a children's birthday party but at £18 per head rather overpriced. Friendly attentive customer service costs nothing. Picnic bench a good idea if executed correctly but just felt all a tad overpriced & gimmicky.

Drove an hour and a half to get to this pub, food prompt - desserts were good. Over priced, had to ask members of staff for sauce about 3 times before getting it. The man at the end dealing with taking payments wasn’t the friendliest, quite rude. Great idea but don’t think we will be in a rush to return.

Excellent Sunday lunch, very large portions, plenty of parking space, well worth the drive suggest booking can get very busy.

Had seen pictures on Facebook and thought it would be a fun afternoon treat. Took mum, husband and daughter for a family meal and everyone absolutely loved it. The fun of the picnic table lunch was great. All the elements were cooked/baked/made perfectly with great taste and freshness. The selection of food was well balanced.

Came here to try out the picnic Bench as an evening meal. When we arrived we were seated in a room next to the bar which was a little bit like a cafe. The picnic bench arrived in good time however the quality of food for £18 each! Was very poor we had a small portion or fish and chips each, a little cheese burger which wasn’t very nice it was bland and nothing special at all. A Small half jacket potato each which was dry and a very small piece of chicken in a tomatoey cheese sauce which was very sickly. We also had a cake and a scone each with cream and jam which was fine, and a few other miniature desserts. Lastly there was a few little drinks. I wouldn’t recommend the picnic bench for a evening meal as there wasn’t no where near enough food and was very small portions and there was too much variety which made it very sickly. We won’t be back.

The picnic Bench looks superb and is excellent, great crispy cod and fries, and the burger is a decent size not a slider, two hot cheese dishes, Pims glass and Cider for adults are nice palette cleansers between bites. Scones and dessert options were equally good. An excellent place for afternoon and evening meals. l was a tad envious of the dishes passing by but after a picnic Bench l couldn't eat anything else. Well worth several visits to go through the menu as it all looked good. Nice bar selection of ales and for those summer evening a Pins jug for a tenner, excellent value.

Booked the picnic bench in advance. Lovely service at the bar before we was seated. Bench arrived not long after. The quality of the food was good, the hot food still remained hit. Desserts were delicious, could not finish all! Well worth the money!

This is a great experience the attention to detail and work that must go into producing the benches is amazing all the food is homemade and fresh that day and the service is second to none, it’s also a great fun way of sharing a meal with friends.

Was not made aware when we booked that all we could have is the picnic bench option. Battered cod was overcooked, Hunters Chicken was nice, desserts were ok but the scone was stale. On the way in the sign says that if you have a picnic bench you may be asked to leave after a hour and a half!! Asked for the bill and was told that they are busy so go and pay at the bar! The guy with the beard behind the bar is very miserable. Will not be returning.

Today my 3 friends needed a place to warm through and eat on their cycle ride Lands End to John o'Groats. Although unable to supply food they allowed us to bring in sandwiches from the local shop. Not many food places would do this!! The 3 were able to get a hot drink, warm through and use the loo. The Bush Inn are heroes in a world where this kind of help is often lacking

Only good thing I could say was there was great service and it was pleasing to the instaGram pictures! The picnic bench was completely over priced £18 per person, the food was cheap and laid heavy on the stomach for the rest of day.

We went here for to celebrate my daughters birthday. The picnic bench experience was fantastic! Plenty of amazing treats to eat - and doggy bags to take away what was left so nothing got wasted. They helped make her birthday a special experience- candles on her picnic bench, sang happy birthday as they bought out the cake they had allowed us to take .... a really lovely evening. Only slight downside - she’s is a wheelchair and we struggled to get her into the toilet as the doorway is quite narrow ... staff helped us with this as much as they could on the night though.

We visited mainly to let our kids have a try of the picnic benches. The food was very disapponting. The sweets were particularly bad, I have never eaten such dry tasteless cakes, I couldn't finish it as it tasted unpleasant. There was creamy stuff in glasses, again tasteless, we couldn't identify the contents. The picnic benches are about the presentation, the food itself is very low quality. We heard there are other places doing the mini picnic bench idea so we'll try those instead. Overall, this wasn't worth the drive out, we won't be going again.
