We stayed in the accommodation at the back of the pub. Family weekend away, the accommodation was fantastic and suited our needs perfectly. The owners of the property and pub/staff who worked in the pub were very warm and welcoming. We ordered pizza and kebabs for dinner on our first night and a Sunday Roast, both were delivered to eat in our dining room. Food was delicious, plenty of it and it was piping hot. We enjoyed a pint outside the pub following a long walk, great pint and good atmosphere. Thanks to the team at The Crown

The perfect English pub! This secluded place in the centre of the Woolhope Dome is in a unique location, too, as geologists and geographers will appreciate. The food and the service were friendly and excellent. The atmosphere inside is the epitome of the classic English pub. The views from the front are lovely. Approach it from the west on the narrow road over the hills and through the fairy-tale-like Haugh Wood. The Crown Inn and Woolhope are worth a trip to visit their own right.

Celebrated with family for a meal, we were all looked after so well, attentive staff and a great selection of drinks enjoyed outside in the gardens before moving in and having a delicious meal, kids had pizzas, I had the belly pork which came with new potatoes, local organic leaves and 2 beautiful salads, I also had the padron peppers ( cooked perfectly) and cajon spiced corn on the Cobb. Couldn't fault at all. We questioned the bill at the end because we expected it to be more, one of my favourite eateries in Herefordshire. Excellent menu, perfectly cooked and served by lovely staff. 10/10

WOW, WOW, WOW - stayed in the accommodation for a 50th/hen weekend and it was utterly perfect in every way. Furnishings have been updated since the photographs on booking page and it made it perfect for us all as a group. The quality of the linen, mattresses, TV (sky glass), every glass type…. It goes on. We loved it. We’d arranged for pizzas on the Saturday evening, which they brought round to us (they were lovely), we pre-ordered Sunday lunch, which again was delivered to us in the accommodation (again delicious) and they really couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you so, so much for looking after us so well. It was the best…

We visited the Crown for drinks both before (briefly) and after (more leisurely) our tour cricket match against Woolhope last Saturday. The staff exemplified what customer service in a pub should be about. An excellent range of well-kept beers, lagers and ciders served swiftly and cheerily and at a reasonable price. We were made to feel extremely welcome, so much so that rather than return to our Hereford base early in the evening, we stayed until well after dark. We were even given grub as Woolhope CC's visitors, no doubt both to satisfy our hunger and to encourage us to imbibe further into the evening. It's not rocket science, this pub business ! Other groups there for the evening looked to be equally enjoying themselves; we'll be back there for sure when we return for next year's tour. Thank you The Crown !

We were able to return to the Crown for dinner last weekend and we were not disappointed. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, and the open fire was very welcoming. All of the specials sounded delicious and were an interesting addition to the standard menu. The partridge and cod brandade were superb. The pheasant pie was glorious, with a rich sauce set off by "melt-in-the-mouth" home-made shortcrust pastry, served with flower sprouts and beef dripping chips. The halibut dish was stunningly well conceived and prepared. Served with pancetta gnocchi, braised leeks and enoki mushrooms it was one of the finest plates of food I have ever tasted. The chef has a gift for cooking fish perfectly and keeps creating imaginative dishes with interesting combinations. The Crown is a "Hidden gem" in Herefordshire and deserves to be much busier. I just hope that when the word gets around we will still be able to get a table!

Ambience, service, food, drink all excellent. Mushroom starter (see photo) very good as was my Goats Cheese Stack main course. My wife's soup and Bream were equally delicious. And a perfect pint of HPA. Using a Travelzoo voucher made this exceptional value. Will definitely return voucher or not. Will also make more of a day of it to explore this beautiful part of the country.

We were travelling from the Cotswolds to Shropshire & chose this deal as a a stopping off place for lunch. The Travelzoo deal is good value. we had a warm welcome from the staff as we entered this impressive rural Inn. the meal was beautifully presented and high quality. Very good range of food and drinks. It is easy to see why it is popular.

All three of us had the chicken and bacon pie with a shortcrust pastry top, it was excellent. The landlord was helpful and friendly and the beer was good. A great place to go for lunch in a beautiful location.

I visited with my son and his partner for dinner and was very impressed with the standard of the food and drinks. The starters we had were pakora's and crispy chilli beef, really good, well seasoned and very tastyI was really pleased to see pigeon and juniper pie on the menu, we ordered two of those and one Stonebass. The pies were superb, full of flavour and the pigeon cooked beautifully, the fish was very well cooked and had a beautifully seasoned crust. The beers and ciders are very well kept. The staff are great, very helpful and obviously know their menu very well. The pub was very busy, but the service very good.I will certainly visit again

We had a lovely tasty meal; my daughter and I had steak and my husband had the gammon ham. All beautifully prepared home cooking. Love the idea of half portion puddings! Very pleasant atmosphere and good service. Would go back again.

Excellent meal, at good value. Lovely cheese scones & home made soup. The Antique centre above was also full of interesting pieces.

Booked an evening meal whilst staying in log cabin near by. Large portions of home cooked food, quick service and friendly and helpful staff. Reasonably priced, in fact we were surprised and were expecting to pay more for the quality. The decor is lovely as well, quite cozy on an autumn evening. Will definitely return next time we are in the area

Just dropped in on spec for a lunchtime meal. Excellent service, very friendly staff, delicious food and great value. As of October 2024 you'll get a good sized meal for about a tenner. Good choice of ales etc. Location is perfect for visiting the cathedral and city. If you need an EV charger there's one about 100 meters up the road.
