Fabulous pub. The quality and presentation of the food is superb. I had three courses last night , all were delicious. Crispy Asian beef as a starter, hake with linguine and a tasty caper, tomato and olive sauce and then a raspberry and apple parfait. It's one of our favourite pubs , so welcoming and the beer is great. Dog friendly too. Would definitely recommend

We chanced on this unprepossessing pub and called in for lunch. The short menu was very interesting describing unusual dishes. The wine and beer choices were better than most pubs. The landlord obviously takes pride in what he provides describing his beers and wines knowledgeably. The service was excellent and was provided by friendly, well trained people. The food was well above the average. All in all a most enjoyable lunch. I highly recommend this pub. Don’t drive past!

We had just a wonderful, welcoming experience. Situated in a beautiful part of Great Malvern, this restaurant has all you want. The owner & staff were super polite, kind and accommodating. Large drinks menu, with a great assortment of whiskeys, gin, beer on draft, etc, which you can enjoy at one of the cozy fireplaces at the bar. Full dinner menu with absolutely delicious options. The bread board had an amazing onion bread, which we particularly enjoyed. The Chef knows what he is doing!! I got the trout and it was stunning! My husband thought the tomato, rosemary soup was some of the best he has had. Finish your wonderful experience with the apple crumble with meringue. Our sincere compliments to the owner, chef and the staff! If you desire friendly service and an excellent, authentic English menu, don't miss!

I visited for lunch a second time- on this occasion a Sunday lunch. Another fantastic meal- perfectly cooked beef & a chicken roll with sage stuffing. Roasties and variety of veggies. It was gorgeous. This is an independent country pub with a real warm welcome. The food is a cut above usual pub grub… what is served is done with real care and attention to a high standard but without pretence or exorbitant prices. A cosy environment where you instantly feel at home . My family were in catering for 40 years - so know the trade. If you visit Malvern - it’s worth the few minutes drive from the town or the camp car park to get away from the mediocre chain provision.

We had lunch here after climbing British Camp. The landlord welcomed us to the restaurant side and took our orders. We had venison pie with roasted Mediterranean vegetables and chunky skin on chips as well as Bouillabaisse with garlic bread which is a bit surprising in this part of the world. Portion sizes were very good and the food was excellent. Outside the elevated location affords beautiful views over the surrounding countryside from the large car park. This place is certainly not a secret as evidenced by all the regulars who were having their lunch here on a Wednesday. It is fairly close to British Camp Car Park and would make an ideal pit stop after all the exertion. Wholeheartedly recommended.

We stopped off at The Wellington Inn, following a family walk on a warm sunny day. We were 3 adults and 1 dog and we found a fabulous parasoled table in the garden - which has lovely views. We were greeted and welcomed by very friendly staff and the service throughout was excellent. Our food was a real surprise in its quality, portions and value for money - obviously home cooked and very tasty for our 3 different meals. I had the Bouillabaisse and this was excellent and a surprise to see on a menu in this area. We especially liked to see ‘smaller portions’ available on the roast dinners - my daughter really enjoyed this and it was ample for her in her chicken choice. We will certainly make return visits soon as we live locally in Malvern.

I wanted to love this place, but the owners manner was strange throughout, the vibes were off, and the veggie roast was not good. Positives first: it's in a beautiful spot, a historic pub right next to the most stunning walks along the Malvern Hills, lovely views, small beer garden facing south for the summer, roaring log fires for winter and a cosy, rustic interior with board games in the bar. However, the trouble started when we walked into the bar and said we'd made a reservation for two (with all the reviews glowing about dog-friendliness). Bear in mind our single dog is tiny, very used to busy restaurants, and never allowed to cause trouble. The landlord was NOT pleased to see him and declared half the pub was out of bounds to us. "oh, I should have mentioned having a dog on the phone, I will next time" I smiled, hoping to defuse the situation. YES YOU SHOULD HAVE, came the glowering response; a strange way to treat a brand new customer. No matter - he found us a table in the smaller, dog-friendly bar area. Not that we'd know, as we were told to sit down first at a truly tiny bar table, around mid-calf height. He then dropped off some menus and disappeared without a word, leading the landlady to ask from over the bar: "Are you fussy drinkers or do you know what you want? We need to know before 2:30." It wasn't clear if they'd stop serving food, alcohol, or what within the remaining 10 minutes. I enquired as to the ciders. Stowford or nothing. A shame for an area with so many good ciders, but no matter, two of those please. She overheard us saying 'well the reviews did say very dog friendly' and replied "We are but you have to go in the bottom section." As if to prove it, she brought some treats over for our dog, and then the landlord came back. "She's let that fire die down", he declared, putting a single cold log onto an unlit hearth without a hint of embers or having been used recently. Unsurprisingly, it stayed unlit. He disappeared again to fiddle with the wood stove in the next room, moving some other guests on a bench around to get some wood. We wondered if we'd be able to have the empty table for two next to the stove. "No, your table's the other side of that room", he declared. Is it ready for us to move to?... we wondered aloud, before he replied YES as if we were thick. Finally seated, the food came quickly and I had high hopes, with clearly marked vegetarian and vegan options throughout. It was a stuffed butternut squash roast which sounded delicious. Unfortunately the execution was... not good. The butternut had been simply cut in half, without any of the pulp or seeds scraped out like you normally would, and the 'stuffing' turned out to be a very thin garnish. It was also under-roasted to the point of being quite chewy. At this point the landlord comes to ask if everything is okay, and we said it was fine. He then starts talking to the (until now quiet!) dog in a funny voice and staring him down, which really scares him. Not taking upset barking at a stranger for a no, he continues with this a lot longer than I would have. I paid, left a decent tip for the younger staff who were all lovely, and left, unlikely to return.

We had such an excellent lunch here, the food was delicious, homemade sausage rolls as a starter, the largest pieces of haddock I've ever seen for fish and chips, and a Caesar salad which was a special of the day, delightfully fresh salad, stuffed with chicken and topped with anchovies. The landlord is cheery, friendly and attentive and obviously interested in his pub, as are all the staff and they carry a great selection of wines and beers. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and it was just as well we were on holiday as we stayed much longer than we intended sampling a few of the said wines and beers! Worth the drive from Bristol and we shall definitely return.

Had dinner last night and everything was great. Had the hake with ratatouille and lemon mash. Delicious! My husband had the belly pork with black pudding and apple. Again, really tasty. Definitely worth visiting.

Pre booked in for dinner on evening opening on a Friday night during the hot weather. We were sat at the far back of the restaurant away from the bar. Very happy to be located there but there was an awful smell, similar to bins....

The place is fabulous and now the sad bit. I've only just heard you are closing. The two of the most popular venues in Hereford the other is The Starting Gate. I hope you will be offered other jobs. Please let me know what happens won't you? With a very sad heart, Nigel in Stourport. We will come and see you before it closes

My Husband and I stayed here for a night when attending a friend's wedding. It is a lovely old building with beautiful beams throughout and original fireplaces. For such an old building, it's been looked after very well by the owners. The rooms were lovely and clean, a little old fashioned but it had everything we needed. Clean fluffy towels, tea and coffee making facilities, a modern clean bathroom with complimentary shampoos, shower gels and soaps. The shower was lovely and hot and the room was toasty and warm when I stepped out of the shower. Breakfast the next morning was cooked very well and delicious. There was plenty of food from cereals and fresh fruit, fresh orange juice on the tables and you could have a full cooked English breakfast or just eggs on toast etc. My Husband and I had a full English, just without black pudding and tomatoe. Photos below. The hotel is set in a lovely little town/large village with old style pubs, bakery shops including a Co op. There is free parking behind the hotel with outdoor seating for warmer months or smokers. We would definitely stay at this lovely old hotel again. The only thing I would say that needs improved was the mattress.... The bed was very hard, but apart from this, a lovely stay. Thank you. This is just my personal experience, please bare this in mind.

We have just arrived home after two weeks holiday staying near Bosbury. We went in numerous pubs in the area and this was the best by far. Very welcoming landlord and the ladies behind the bar also made you feel really welcome asking about your day and remembered your drink order everytime we went back. We did not eat here but we noticed that the tables were all reserved. We are travelling back down to Bosbury again next year and we will definitely be paying this pub a visit or two!

We stayed in Ludlow in March and ate at the Red Lion on a trip to Leominster during the week. The food was excellent. We were down this way again and decided to book for Sunday lunch for the 4 of us. We were again made to feel so welcome by the warm and friendly staff and the service is excellent as is the quality of the food. The portions are generous but we made sure that we ate it all as it was too good to leave anything on the plates. We all agreed this Sunday lunch is one of the best we have ever had. We will definitely return to the White Lion when we are down this was again. The only issue we have is that we just wish it was closer to home so we could visit more often. Massive thank you and we hope to see you again soon.
