Beautiful pub with amazing food

We had a daily special of mushrooms in a scrumptious creamy sauce on sourdough toast, followed by a vegetarian pizza with pine kernels which was also delicious.  Although there was a large table of 10 on the weekday evening, we were served efficiently & thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We were there on holiday but if we lived nearby, we would definitely visit regularly.

We came away for our quarterly year family holiday get away, we was recommended to come and have dinner which we booked in advance which was very easy to do. The pub was busy and we were seen straight away, amazing customer service was noticed instantly , and a brilliant varied menu really caught our eye. The family all went for steak and lamb , being gluten free and dairy isn’t great for me the chef completely went out of his way to cook amazing fish and a lovely salad , it was so above and beyond it really completed our night , the wine was perfect, the family said it was the best steak they had had , I just wanted to say a huge thank you to yourself and your team really went out of your way to ensure we were catered for perfectly , it’s extremely rare to see this now , do not ever change we will be back when we next visit Thank you again, and please extent our thanks to your amazing team and kind chefs.

Really friendly and amazingly tasty food

A fantastic hotel with outstanding staff! We arrived late in the evening and needed four rooms. We were assisted by two incredibly friendly gentlemen, one of whom, if I remember correctly, was named Jason. We only had to wait five minutes for our room keys, and during that time, we were kindly offered a drink. Jason then informed us that, unfortunately, the hotel did not have a restaurant, but they provided a shuttle service to the city center. We took advantage of this, and what an amazing service it was! 10/10 for the service and staff!

This is a real 'local' pub. Very good value food and service. Lots of local events on too. Just wish we lived closer

I stayed at the Angel as I was attending a party nearby. Whilst the room was beautiful, the need to limit the hot water and heating to specific times is a step TOO far in terms of saving costs. I have never stayed anywhere this happens, quite frankly a basic travel lodge supply’s hot water and heating throughout your stay. At 5pm There was NO HOT WATER NOT EVEN LUKE WARM I had to wash my hair in cold water!!! I thought at least in the morning I would be able to take a bath NO HOT WATER at 7.30am this has completely ruined my experience. I would suggest avoiding this place unless you just want a nice room and don’t need to shower or bathe.

I was surprised by the great reviews because the food was appalling. We had squid, patatas bravas, bread and olives all of which disappointed. The squid and potatoes were very greasy. The squid was oil and batter, it was a struggle to find the squid and when you did, you wish you hadn't. The oil didn't taste like olive oil, it was flavourless. The bread was not sourdough. The olives were so disappointing, no flavour at all. There was nothing Spanish about this meal. We left it uneaten.

Every single thing we ate was beyond delicious. David was the consummate host, and Belle had the softest ears. We couldn’t have asked for a better host or accommodations. Thank you again so much!

I have been using this public house for 40+ years. The service is always excellent. The toilets are always clean. The person who left the negative review has obviously got the wrong pub. The menu is not vegetarian..... they don't do food. The barman is mentioned.... the barstaff are all female. There is parking, albeit a small car park. Plenty of on road parking outside the pub. Arguably, for me, one of the best 'real' pubs around.

Friendliest Chinese in all of wiltshire, Satay is top draw.

Good beer and friendly. They even sell Lager - if you like that sort of thing. Proper Pub.

This small local buisness has great service from the front counter workers especially on Wednesdays and Fridays but has rats and food isn’t good pizza wasn’t cooked great and had toppings missing overall the front works make it as good as it can be but other than that I wouldn’t eat her again

Fantastic traditional English pub. Cosy and vibrant, very warm and welcoming. Live music and a buzzing atmosphere.
