A very beautiful hotel, large and very clean rooms + large bathrooms, excellent staff, who provide good service, a very reasonable price, a very beautiful garden (at the back of the hotel) in short, highly recommended

It was incredible experience for us. I stayed there last week with my fiancée for 2 nights and it was amazing. Staff is very nice and polite, room was kinda victorian vibes type and Cathedral view from our room was looking mystical specially at night. For breakfast, they had english breakfast and continental which was really good and it tasted very nice. Only sad thing was our stay was short but I would definitely love to go there again for longer stay😁.

Great hotel with lovely staff and clean rooms. Be warned, though. There’s no dinner service, so if you're planning a cosy night in like we were, think again! They do offer a shuttle to town, though, which is a bonus—unless you wanted to stay in and nap off a long day. The free drink tokens were a nice touch, but no amount of free booze will drown out the enthusiastic 'exercises' from the couple next door. Let's just say the walls are thin enough to make you question if you're starring in the next door's love story. Overall, it's a decent stay. Just remember to pack earplugs and dinner plans!

Wow. It is so cosy and beautiful and the people are super nice. Shuttle to the city center. Nice for a visit in Salisbury, but quiet. We had everything we needed.

Could hear quite a lot between rooms, stopped me sleeping. No room to move to. Lovely garden to enjoy a drink in the sun

Brilliant place! Comfortable, clean, great views, brilliant service. Even a free shuttle into town for dinner and one on the way back although it is a beautiful walk back in summer! Would definitely come back.

Beautiful location, close to the center and yet very quiet with a beautiful view from the garden. Extremely friendly staff. Very nice breakfast area! Rooms were fine, we heard nothing. Good bed. Air conditioning worked well. Nice breakfast with plenty of choice. Very good price/quality! Recommended.

Stayed for one night. The location is lovely and very easy to walk into Salisbury. There is also a shuttle service in the evenings which is a great perk, and a complimentary drink in the bar. The room was spotlessly clean, maybe a little small but that is the only gripe. Staff very friendly and polite. Would recommend.

Stayed one night for a company meeting held in the hotel. The rooms were lovely very comfortable and clean nobody had a bad experience. Breakfast was good, with plenty of options, the rhubarb juice was a particularly unexpected hit. The staff were attentive and friendly.

SWANS WI thank Jo (Events Manager) for the way in which we were catered for at our recent luncheon celebrating 97 years of existence. The hotel was welcoming and everything was perfect for our group of 30 members and guests. - easy parking and access; a short walk to the Garden Room; great flexible menu; a separate bar and all facilities close to hand. The whole afternoon was meticulously planned and led by Jo and executed to the highest standard enabling us to relax and enjoy the ambience of being with friends and the superb views from the picture windows.

Met up with family for drinks. Such a lovely venue, stunning views and the staff were wonderful.

They do bed and breakfast, but no evening meals. They run a free shuttle service each evening into the town where there are many fabulous restaurants. Unfortunately, on our last night, an outside group had booked a catered noisy Christmas party at the establishment which kept us awake. The dining room was reset obviously for another party the following night(s). The priority concern should have been the guests already in situ. This is an example of "mission creep", where the mission of a business begins to change....hotel, or nightclub/celebration venue? Despite being a good hotel, we won't be staying here again as we regard being able to sleep our perogative as a paying guest.

The place is gorgeous, the room is tiny but so well laid out. It has everything you need you can control room temperature. The continental breakfast was lovely and staff it’s very friendly. The only down side is probably the cleanliness. The toilet clearly had leaks from previous visitor, shower head does not fit and is just hanging there, plus the cob nets on the curtains..

Great hotel, at the top end in Chichester but you get what you pay for. Would recommend for romantic weekend, or impressing the in laws. Walkable to the city and cathedral. It is on the river and the food is great, but maybe you should be in the city for food?

It’s difficult to imagine a nicer place to stay in Salisbury. An impeccably clean boutique hotel, an attractive building, and a general relaxed atmosphere. Go for a river view room if you can - the views over the Rivers Avon and Nadder are superb, and are overlooked by the spire of Salisbury Cathedral. Yet, despite being a short walk from the centre, the hotel was very quiet. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed - a staff member led us to our room while offering to carry our suitcases. That continued with other services offered - a free minibus to take hotel guests into the centre at evening, and the option to have staff make your reservations for hotels in town. Breakfast was very good - while there is no evening meal at the hotel, we did have coffee and cake at the bar in the afternoon, which was superb. We’ll definitely return.

Really lovely hotel with incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. We were greeted on arrival and shown to our room, as well as being given two tokens to use for drinks at the bar. The room was spacious with a comfy bed and nice view out over the river. The hotel is very close to the centre of Salisbury - a pleasant 10 minute walk through some quiet backstreets. On one of the nights we ordered a takeaway to the hotel (as they don't have an evening restaurant), and the staff were very accommodating, supplying us with plates, napkins and cutlery. You can even eat at a table in the restaurant if you want to. Our only complaint was a noise issue from a neighbouring room. I was very impressed with the hotel's response to this - both the reception staff and manager listened to my concerns and were able to resolve them. Overall it is a very friendly and welcoming hotel, set in beautiful grounds with ample parking and easy access into Salisbury.

Nice quiet hotel with bar and breakfast, but no evening restaurant. A shuttle will take you into the city center and pick u up. So if you want an evening meal....

Had a wonderful short stay at The Riverside with a lovely breakfast each morning. The location and hotel itself was lovely, as too were the staff. Mandy was brilliant every morning at breakfast, always making sure we had what we needed, and Gabi on reception was was brilliant; at hand to answer any questions I had. Can’t wait to stay again, thank you!

The welcome we got was amazing and that carrried throughout our stay, received a birthday card & chocolates on arrival for my birthday. Room was as shown on photos and breakfast buffet was well cooked & well presented , staff were very helpful to all our needs .Lovely relaxing stay. Would highly recommend The Riverside Hotel. Lovely hotel with scenic grounds and garden. Nice rooms, bar and great service with mini bus service into and back from town. The rooms were lovely but very expensive given how thin the walls are and the noise that you hear from other guests. I heard every word clearly from the room next door when they came in late at 2am and talked until 3. I would not pay £185 a room per night for that again.

Came here for a one night stay while we were having a meal in Salisbury. The hotel is easy to find with plenty of parking. Friendly woman on reception checked us in very quickly and showed us to our room and gave us 2 complimentary drinks tokens to be exchanged at the bar - a really nice little touch, much like the complimentary minibus shuttle service into the town centre. 2 things that I’ve not had at any other hotel - only small things but they do make you feel welcomed. The bedrooms are nice and quiet, my only slight issue with the room we had (room 1) is that the air conditioning wasn’t working, and the shower was awkward to use due to the sloped ceiling restricting headroom. It wouldn’t prevent me coming back though and if I was in Salisbury again I would definitely stay here again.

The location is what this hotel trades on as our room was okay for two nights but at the price it was not perfect. Why have an over the bath shower when a walk in shower would have been much better. We were staying on probably one of the hottest September weekends of the year and with only a very small and dusty room fan it left a lot to be desired. Aircon is being installed but not commissioned yet! There is no restaurant but you can get breakfast. A shuttle transport into town usually runs in the evening but was out of action on our first night there. Staff were helpful and friendly.

I recently stayed at the Riverside for a wedding which was being held there.. the location of the hotel was excellent with great views of the cathedral and the outdoor area was lovely for having a pre dinner drink.. the breakfast was very good and the food at the wedding was also very good.. I found the staff extremely pleasant.

Nice hotel within walking distance of the center with many restaurants, a cathedral and many other sights. Very friendly staff and a very personal check-in.

Lovely sitting on the terrace or by the river having a drink on a lovely evening. We are local so rooms not required but they have good bar staff and there was a wedding happening that we enjoyed their sounds.

Fantastic hotel. Location is great, only a 10 minute walk to the cathedral and a few minutes more to the town centre. In the evening there is a free taxi service if you don’t want to walk. Great view of garden, river, sheep and cathedral from bar terrace or bedroom if you choose river view. Spotlessly clean too. Very friendly staff, helped us to carry cases to our room. Perfect stay - thank you!

Awful experience! No services… no bellman… expected to carry our suitcases up 2 flights of stairs. Arrived to a hot stuffy room. Because of the room layout (small L) the breeze from the open window never reached the bed (even with a fan) Room smaller than advertised, Bed smaller than advertised, bathroom floor had duct tape holding the tiles down, no closet, no room to open suitcases and no storage space except a narrow wardrobe, After a full day of sightseeing came back to an unmade room. Bathroom had 1 hand towel no wash clothes, 2 bath towels (We were 2 guest). Shower went from hot to cold, strong to weak flow. I can go on and on….. we left after 2 nights. We complained after the first night but there was no improvement. It is not what was advertised!

The experience of myself, my husband and another couple staying at the hotel for a nearby wedding was that this is NOT A HOTEL, more a B&B experience. - NO LOUNGE TO ACCOMMODATE GUESTS WATING. Upon arriving at 2.40pm we were asked to leave until checkin at 3pm. The receptionist did not endeavour to check if the room was ready despite there only being 20mins until official checkin. Nor did she invite us to wait anywhere in the reception areas. We did enquiry if we could wait and have a drink, but we were told no, and so we made enquiries as to where we could obtain a drink, to which she pointed us in the direction of the Rose and Crown. Upon later inspection we found there was a lack of comfortable reception space for guests anyway. - NO RESTAURANT. The room was advertised as a 5 star experience including a restaurant open for lunch and dinner. On the contrary we were told on arrival that the restaurant was only open for breakfast buffet and they didn't even have an espresso machine. Poor show. - The ROOM was LACKING BASIC FUNCTIONALITY. There was no luggage rack, nor was there enough storage to unpack. This made for an untidy and inconvenient experience. There was also no ironing board provided, which was a problem as we were attending a wedding. Similarly with the en suit, the fixtures were not laid out in a functional way, proving particularly problematic for the less able-bodied guests. - The gravel carpark is NOT SUITABLE FOR GUESTS ARRIVING WITH LUGGAGE/BUGGIES or WHEELCHAIRS. - When I raised this feedback privately with MANAGEMENT they proved themselves to be INCOMPETENT at dealing with complaints. The main takeaways is that the experience of staying at the Riverside does not match what is advertised online. BEWARE!

An extremely beautifully furnished hotel with a beautiful, well-kept outdoor area with a direct view of Salisbury Cathedral. The staff is very friendly and attentive, the furnishings are very tasteful and high quality. Each guest receives a welcome drink in the very chic bar upon arrival. The breakfast was rich, although according to the general standard. The only negative point is once again the shower, which was very difficult or even impossible to regulate. I don't understand why the sanitary facilities in all of Great Britain, even in high-priced accommodation, often have to be so terribly old or defective.

Great location, very friendly staff, close to the cathedral, has off road parking, they offer a service to take guests to and from Salisbury in a van at your convenience - need I say more? I had a lovely time in the hotel and next time I need to be in Salisbury, I will definitely book this hotel.

The room was okay and looks recently renovated compared to other hotels in Salisbury. Room main lights cannot be controlled from the bedside so you have to walk all the way to the door to turn-on or off the light. For the service at the breakfast hall, the lady in charge seemed grumpy and was not as polite as hotel staffers should be. The hotel location was perfect for a relaxing stay. One could see the famous Salisbury cathedral from the hotel. However, the price was outrageous.

Went for a conference, venue a but small for what we required, staff lovely and friendly, beautiful view of the cathedral, lovely gardens and outside seating. 1 toilet to use between about 60 ladies, so queuing for a while, we managed to find a disabled toilet to stem the burden of waiting. Buffet okay

Had the most stunning weekend at The Riverside celebrating my grandparents’ 60th anniversary! They travelled all the way from Rome for this event and it was absolutely worth it. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were all so polite and accommodating, they really contributed to making our stay so pleasant. The location is very convenient and there is a shuttle service running from the afternoon to evening to take you to the city centre when needed. The place itself is stunningly curated and has a great countryside view, literally on the lake which was a perfect location for our family pic-nic. Truly idyllic location and wonderful experience overall!

Beautiful hotel in a very scenic location. Staff were great, showed us to our room on arrival. Complimentary drink, the bar staff were great. Beautiful 15 minute walk into town centre. Complimentary shuttle into town and back on demand as well which was amazing. Would love to come back for more than just 1 night. Room was nice and as expected. Only thing I'd say is the shower/bath was a bit small but not really an issue. Everything else was spot on and one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in.

Bugs in the room, The heating wasn't working so they gave us a hot air blower. There was problems with the hot water in the morning which was delayed our showers.

We chose The Riverside hotel to host a life celebration for my mother recently and were so impressed with the service we received. Organising what was a highly emotional event was made so much easier by the wonderful Jo and all of the team on the day were a delight to work with. Thank you so much, would highly recommend.

Not the luxury hotel we expected. Car park is gravel so you cannot pull your case on wheels. Arrived in room, central heating not working, a very small electric heater had been put in but we were not informed. Cold water tap in our bath/shower not working at all. Had staff in our room at 9pm fixing it. Paid for a river view room but the only way you could see the river was if you stood in the corner and looked out of the door. The room was dull and lacked thoughtfulness. Only one hand towel provided. No handrail to get out if the bath/shower, no bath mat so slippery and dangerous. No robe or slippers provided. Soy milk ar breakfast was off, bring your own! Would not recommend, would not stay here again. Truly the worst hotel of our trip.

Lovely hotel, rooms are superb. Breakfast is great and staff are super friendly. There is no restaurant for dinner but they do provide a shuttle service for free into town so you can have a wide choice of places to eat, or like I did first night you can order in from your favourite place and they will set you a lovely table to enjoy it from 👌 Also beautiful views out the back. Will definitely stay here again.

Lovely property, gorgeous view from the room we stayed in. Fantastic customer service; special mention to Jasmine for her warm hospitality- lovely girl. You can tell a fair bit of money has gone into renovations, although just be wary there is no lift, so if you have mobility issues specify you want a ground floor room, also the soundproofing is non-existent so sadly you can hear all the conversations being had in adjacent rooms, and a freshly renovated bathroom shows loose bathroom floor tiles where the grout is breaking away so when you step on the floor the tiles move. Apart from those minor issues our stay was pleasant. Thanks!

Loved it , the hotel is in a great location as only a 15 minute walk to the town centre , the staff were so friendly and helpful the buffet breakfast was excellent with quality and a good selection the room was great with lovely river view and spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel, we will definitely be returning in the future and would certainly recommend it.

Right on the banks of the river Nadder, excellent location. Fifteen minutes walk from Salisbury cathedral. Room was very good but a bit on the cool side for a February stay. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner so had to go elsewhere for food. Nice place to stay though.

The Riverside is a lovely hotel in a great setting. The staff are very welcoming and the rooms clean and spacious. The bar is also very relaxing. For those with EVs there are four chargers and there is ample parking for all. I highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel, lovely view and lovely staff! BUT sadly the rooms feel like they have no walls because you can hear neighbouring rooms talking, coughing, banging doors etc, which is a real shame as it meant we were not able to sleep till gone midnight and woken at 6am. Sadly not a good nights sleep at all.

Very nice friendly welcome, not just a voice behind a desk. Staff lovely at breakfast, the cleaner was lovely too.

Just a one-night stay here (sadly, to attend a funeral). We were made most welcome by the friendly, helpful staff. The room was very comfortable, with a cracking view over the flooded rivers to the cathedral. In lieu of a full restaurant service, there was a free and efficient transport service into Salisbury city centre - door-to-door of our chosen restaurant; and we were collected within 5 minutes of a phone call for the return trip. Despite the restaurant issue, the breakfast was excellent: full English together with continental potions, cereals, fruit, etc. I'd love to return under slightly happier circumstances.

I had an excellent stay at the riverside. The room was awesome, very comfortable, warm and extremely clean. The customer service staff were extremely helpful and the bar and breakfast were fantastic. Although the restaurant is currently closed, the free return chauffeur drive to local restaurants was a very good stop-gap solution. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back.

Nice refurbished hotel and good location. Complimentary drink a nice idea. Coffee facilities could be modernised with a Nespresso machine ect. Bathroom vanity light is pointless as doesn’t work if the main light is off. Seems like a connection issue. Not enough soaps ect in the bathroom.

Had a new years eve party here. ABSOLUTELY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this place. The staff were lovely and very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The buffet was great. The entertainment The Few were amazing. A great night out.

Camilla, the assistant manager, was friendly and welcoming. She was kind to carry my bag up to the room. Very clean and well presented. The added touch were the towels wrapped on the towel warmer. Highly recommend this place!

The perfect place to stay for a short break visiting Salisbury. The hotel is relaxed and all the staff we met were really friendly. We had chosen a kingsize room with a river view which was looked out across fields and rivers which was quiet and well equiped with a bath + shower and a TV with built in Chromecast (perfect for streaming Netflix etc from our phones). Internet speed was very fast. We were visiting in late November and the hotel was tastefully decorated for Christmas. It would be lovely to return in warmer months as the hotel boasted a large outdoor patio with magnificanet views of the Cathedral and grounds that rolled down towards the river. Really good buffet breakfast. Easy level well-lit walk to Salisbury Cathedral (10 minutes) or Guildhall (about 20 mins).

Outstanding! Having been let down very badly by a neighbouring hotel, we arrived tired, hungry, very upset and without reservations. Camilla and her team to the rescue! We thought our special weekend had been ruined, but the Riverside turned our nightmare into a dream come true. We were given an excellent, very large, spotlessly clean room with a big, comfy bed and a spectacular view of the river and the Cathedral spire - and it was the perfect temperature! The shower pressure was amazing too. But that was not all...we were extended every courtesy and possible kindness including complimentary drink tokens for the bar and an incredible breakfast - and more! At dinner, we were looked after by 'Evening Mandy' and our weekend was once again made special with a fantastic dinner and a surprise glass of prosecco. All our meals were delicious - the chef is a genius and I really recommend his cooking! We also found Marco very helpful indeed! The hotel is within walking distance of town with a huge car park, the decor is very calming and while there were two functions on during our stay, we did not hear a thing! The staff went out of their way - time after time - to do everything they could to ensure our stay was the very best. Our thanks to you for all you did - which is so much more than I could write in this limited space!

Really nice stay, friendly staff, great food

We stay for our anniversary 03-04/10/2022 pay 200 pound a night for room. Room okay and staff on afternoon shift on03/10/2022 so nice and friendly. But the time we have to check out. Receiption in morning on 04/10/2022 so rude come bang door lound and tell us have to leave as soon as possible. You can tell us polite we understand not need to demand us when you can see we getting ready to leave. Very disappointed here. The hotel should train your staff to be polite and severice mind to guess especially receptionist to guest cause we pay to stay and chose your hotel for our anniversary.

I rarely felt so welcome in a hotel. The staff was exceptional. Our room was very spacious and it was a easy 10 minute walk into the city. Parking was available, which is a big plus! The only downside was the breakfast. We tried it once and then went into the city. Price value is just not what I would expect.

Great location in front of the River Nadder and Salisbury Cathedral in the close distance. Food surpassed our expectations. Good breakfast and very good dinner menu. They have a very good chef!! Service good and attentive. When the suns out, sitting on the terrace overlooking that view is to die for. Very Constable. Modern and comfortable room. Radiator in the bedroom needed bleeding but we were supplied with a small and very efficient portable radiator. I reported this to the manager. The dinning room needs a bit more warmth. It's fine for breakfast but needs something to soften it up in the evening. Not really a criticism more an observation.!

Booked for a weekend stay and arrived on the Friday. Lovely staff showed us to our room. We had an issue with the room (bed) that was promptly resolved by Jay who moved us to another room. Unfortunately the following morning we over heard house keeping talking about us and the situation from the night before so we confronted them. We made a complaint to management who were absolutely appalled by what we had told them. Management acted very professionally and did everything they could to resolve the problem for which we were grateful and satisfied. The location of the hotel was perfect and only a short walk to Salisbury Cathedral and the high street. The hotel itself was neat and modern but not taking away from the age and history of the building. Amazing views of the cathedral and river. The restaurant food was incredibly tasty and very well presented. Breakfast was buffet style which again was lovely and hot, with a variety of options. The front of house staff were lovely and accommodating; nothing was to much trouble. On the whole our experience here was a nice and pleasant one, the issues on the first night didn’t detract from what was a lovely weekend away. We will definitely return. My only feedback on the room, although we stayed in a superior king bedroom, being on the ground floor we did notice the room was very damp, clothing was damp first thing in the morning as were the sheets on the bed, we had to open the windows for a period of time to air out the room (no other form of ventilation or adjustable heating control panel) Particular thanks to Jay and Camilla for being so professional, courteous and understanding.
