We all had hot baguettes-sausages and bacon freshly cooked, the baguettes were very nice. My Daughters enjoyed their smoothie and chocolate milkshake. Service was good also.
Great setting but let down by food preparation and wooden cutlery.
Yes, the setting is fab overlooking Lyme Regis beach. However, the food prep was disappointing given the high prices. I spent over £15 on 2 teas, a sausage roll and a cake. The sausage roll was good quality (award winning bought in from elsewhere) but they microwaved it to warm it up - a travesty and soggy pastry. And the soggy sausage roll was served alone with no garnish or anything else on the plate or any offer of sauces etc. The cutlery was wooden disposable which just sets my teeth on edge.
The tea had too much milk put in it - no choice to do it yourself - a mug of milky tea presented, yuck, not my cup of tea!
The waiting staff were pleasant enough but not exactly enthusiastic or bothering to check all was well.
Give the high prices, I won’t be back. They’ve got such a fab location and have bought in higher quality food, what a shame they have ruined it with poor food prep, crap utensils and disinterested staff.
Booked for Sunday lunch with family. When I booked I asked for raw carrots for a member of the party. Unfortunately they bought out cooked carrots and didn’t have any raw carrots🤔 The lunch was good, hot and tasty. Cauli cheese was delicious. They offer small, medium and large portions. When we visited it was turkey or beef and you could have some of each. Service was good, nothing was too much trouble. This is a family run pub. Chefs are Father and Daughter and their children serve you. For young people they were very considerate. However, when we ordered dessert, the cream was extremely thick and tasted off. I asked if it was creme Fraiche they said no so we sent it back to the kitchen and were told sorry the cream was off and they weren’t sure where it came from! Who is doing the stock checking here? This has put me off returning. Shame because the pub has a nice atmosphere and the rest of the food was good and we should be supporting local businesses. You decide…..
I have used all
Of the Indian restaurants in bridport over the last 30 years they all suffer from inconsistencies , how ever for the last 6 months this restaurant has been outstanding
We have been coming to Dorset on holiday for years and have visited Mangerton Mill in the past, so decided to pop in last week for a well awaited scone and cream. I believe it’s now under new owners/management who were all very pleasant and accommodating and welcomed our dogs, but unfortunately my first scone arrived with hair and fluff in it, which the staff were more than happy to change, but then I could hear the microwave going, then dinging in the background and my second scone was served up. Admittedly, it was warm to touch, but once I cut it open, it was hard and frozen inside. I would have thought the scones would be cooked on site or delivered in fresh, but unfortunately they weren’t. Thankfully, I was not charged for the scone on leaving but, have to say, it was not up the standards we have had in the past.
Log burner going, very good coffee, yummy cake, pleasant surroundings, kind helpful staff. We just needed somewhere for a quiet relaxing coffee and this was it. Oh and scones are fab!!! Thank you!
The online pictures do not do the lodges justice it was amazing!!
We stayed in cherry tree lodge mon-fri for new year with our 2 teenage children and 2 dogs, it was very cleaned and homely with the added Christmas tree was a cute touch.🎄
Another nice touch was the dog basket with a blanket, towel and treats.🐾
We loved the hot tub and the no WiFi wasn't a bother to us.
The only cons we had was the chlorine was far to high in the hot tub that it bleached our swimwear, and a few cobwebs otherwise it was spotless.
Thanks to Oakhill farm for a lovely peaceful stay, we will definitely be back.
Good Second Hand Bookshops are becoming rarer than the books they sell. This one is a gem and worth a pilgrimage, take in a visit to the abbey as well! On the two occasions I visited shelves were stacked floor to ceiling, others were stacked on tables awaiting sorting. A great place to browse and discover an interesting book or two or more.
This bookshop is mentioned in my 1992 93 copy of Drif's Guide to the Secondhand Bookshops of the British Isles.
You can also take a break from book browsing and enjoy what the small cafe has to offer.
Very disappointed in the fish and chips it was tiny like a child’s portion and very expensive for what you get. Food was hot so was the plate. Service good. Told the waitress only to be told “I’ll tell the chef”
Not sure we will be returning anytime soon.
By far the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. We visited on Wednesday evening after we’d had tea and they smelt so good we came back in the Thursday. Crispy chips and batter on the fish. I wasn’t very hungry so we ordered a large portion to share and it came with an extra piece of fish. We sat by the bridge and watched the tide come in whilst we ate. I don’t often this if fish and chips as a treat but this was superb, highly recommended.
Best coffee in Sherborne and V V Good food at a reasonable price. Had breakfast with coffee and later in the day went back for lunch. Service was excellent, Food likewise and the coffee is the best.
Cafe was very quiet, only one table occupied by one couple. Of the two staff at the counter, the elder lady was busy chatting to a friend whilst I waited. The younger lady spoke to me between them until they moved to another part of the counter. The younger lady was very polite and helpful. Unfortunately the coffee was rather bitter and the tea cake was quite burned. The cafe is clean and tidy but nonetheless disappointing
We chose this outlet for a fish and chips lunch as it indicated that it does gluten free fish and chips. This turned out to be fish without the batter when we had hoped that they used a gluten free batter and a separate fryer. I hope that they don't just remove the batter after cooking as this will lead to problems over the GF description if experienced by someone with full Coeliac disease.
So far as the general standard is concerned I have had better crispier batter with the same for the chips and the mushy peas are a sloppy mix, with far better and the Red Lion Beaminster
had our last night evening meal from this place. lovely fresh food cooked to order so nothing sitting around getting stale. lovely chips and fish cakes we had were just lovely
