We have been coming to Dorset on holiday for years and have visited Mangerton Mill in the past, so decided to pop in last week for a well awaited scone and cream. I believe it’s now under new owners/management who were all very pleasant and accommodating and welcomed our dogs, but unfortunately my first scone arrived with hair and fluff in it, which the staff were more than happy to change, but then I could hear the microwave going, then dinging in the background and my second scone was served up. Admittedly, it was warm to touch, but once I cut it open, it was hard and frozen inside. I would have thought the scones would be cooked on site or delivered in fresh, but unfortunately they weren’t. Thankfully, I was not charged for the scone on leaving but, have to say, it was not up the standards we have had in the past.

We stopped at the Mill halfway around the Anthill circuit walking route. The pot of tea was full flavoured and plenty of it. We shared a big hunk of yummy cake. All reasonably priced. Although the cafe was busy, the staff were calm and cheerful. There's ample parking and seating. It's a beautiful spot, even the sun was out. What more could you want.

We were looking forward to visiting the mill and had checked opening times etc. The website advertised the mill as open. We arrived to find it firmly closed with a note saying ‘Open again March 1st’. Please update your website with scheduled closures.

Arrived after a long walk for brunch/ lunch or anything really. There was one (obviously regular) customer there and the waitress stared at us in an irritated manner and asked what we wanted. She reluctantly cleared a table and gave us some menus. We were then completely ignored us as she talked at length to the one customer. Not feeling very confident by the poor welcome or inspired by the instant coffee on the menu we decided to go into Bridport and go to somewhere that had both excellent customer service and fantastic food. I am a local and was appalled by this rudeness and sadly won’t be returning. I never write reviews but feel the need to warn other potential hungry customers. I hope she was just having a bad day.

Called into this delightful venue on recommendation of friends and we were not disappointed. The waitress was attentive and very efficient. We only ordered a pot of tea and toasted teacakes, they were served hot with plenty of butter. The cafe was popular for their cooked lunches and by the time we left it was full.

What a find. We were taken to the mill by friends who spoke very highly of the owners. The setting was interesting with a waterwheel which was actually turning. The cafe is quite quirky with hand written menus. Our friends enjoyed the roast while we sampled the sandwiches. They were accompanied by delicious coleslaw and salad and lots of very tender roast beef. The service was good and the surrounding delightful. We will certainly go again, if we can find it!

We had a breakfast family catch-up with relatives after a 3 year gap at Mangerton Mill. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. we'd booked a table outside, but on arrival it was a bit chilly, moving to a table inside was alos not a problem. Coffees, hot chocolate, bacon sandwich and scones were all delicious and the sausage sandwich on doorstep fresh loaf was fantastic ! A highly recommended hidden gem.

We found this lovely place by accident and we have returned afew times lovley food especially the afternoon tea. However we went for lunch today and i had the cheese and pickle sandwiches it was very nice but if i had one small critic it was there was too much pickle on the sandwich and it overpowered the cheese for some reason i thought the pickle would come separately .service and staff pleasant though .

Lovely little tea room with seating outside and in. Set alongside a mill with a lake to wander around and craft/art studios. We enjoyed our food especially the ham and cheese ploughman’s. We had our two dogs with us and sat in the shade of an umbrella. The dogs enjoyed a “doggy” ice cream too. Beautiful location , food mo& lovely staff.

A rainy Thursday morning breakfast. We ventured out to Mangeron Mill as we'd heard great things. Good ingredients make a really good breakfast. And thus definitely wasn't an exception!! A Lovely fat butchers style sausage and tasty bacon 🥓 were the real stars of this great fry up! Egg , hash brown , mushrooms , beans and tomato were all served piping hot by a lovely friendly waitress. Proper nice toast and butter also came with this breakfast. Kinda farmhouse style bread and not the boring supermarket kind. A great range of coffees were on offer. I had a very well made cappuccino and the boy had a mocha. Really good value for a very nice plate of breakfast 🍳 we will be back for sure 5/5 My only negative was that I've not been there before!

We visited Mangerton Mill this year in August on an extremely wet day the place looked somewhat bleak although think the weather had a lot to do with that..We went straight into the small cafe which was like someone’s cosy front room. A very nice young lady took our order and I have to say the menu was so extensive it took a while to make up our minds as to what to have and extremely reasonable. We did not have to wait long for our food and it was absolutely delicious and we shall be definitely returning.

A pleasant enough place especially in summer. Reasonably priced fare but lacking in quality. Very long wait until breakfasts arrived which were dry, overcooked and unappetising. It is now run by Maria's Pantry which Google maps show in a slightly different place and with different opening times. If visiting follow the signs to the Mill and not to Maria's Pantry.

The tea room is very cosy and pretty. Outside in the grounds it has a super craft shop with unusual hand made items. I couldn't leave without buying something. Well worth a visit

This is a gem set in the peace of the countryside. Called for lunch and there was lots choice on the menu. I had a macaroni cheese which was first class with a pot of tea. There is no alcohol licence. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere, I am definitely coming back for a cream tea! Also outside there is a small mill pond to walk round and a rural bygones museum to explore next time. Be warned - at the moment it is shut on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Mangerton Mill is quintessentially English in appearance. The cream tea is as English as it comes, absolutely delicious. The staff were eager to please and to get the order right. The food arrived promptly and tasted as good as it looked. There are several studios where craft items are made and sold, ideal for those unusual presents to take home.

We decided to go here for pudding after a disastrous lunch at the three horseshoes in Powerstock and we are SO GLAD we did.A beautiful water mill with plenty of seating either in or out. The puddings were all freshly made and only £3.95 as opposed to the £7 the three horseshoes were charging. No wonder they were so busy and everyone was smiling as they tucked into delicious, well presented, home cooked food. A really great menu that changes regularly and lovely, friendly staff. Absolutely the way to run a restaurant. Very well done.

Popped down on a rainy day for somewhere to go. Lovely little place well worth a visit. Fancied a coffee so popped into the tea rooms and ended up having the most delicious hot bowl of soup. Cafe full of people some obviously returning locals and all the meals looked appetising and plentiful. All I would say is that I know it is part of a very old building I would have loved to have taken down all the knick knacks and had a good old clean and the bits of net at the front door were so grubby they nearly put me off of going in! On the other hand don't be put off as their food cleanliness rating is 5!

I'd never visited before. Having managed to find the sign on the main road I went down a long and narrow road, the place looked quite promising. I went into a small museum which was not much, I was told there was some pictures upstairs but there was a meeting on so I'd have to return later. I thought I'll have cake and a cup of tea in the cafe. I stopped and had a look at the water wheel, then onto the cafe. I waited in the cafe for about 5 mins but no one was there serving. I thought I'll look into the other unit where a lady was locking up. this was about 1.30 p.m, so I went to the cafe again, where there was about 6 people sitting outside (the weather was perfect).I went in and waited another 5 mins, no one came again. I then got in my car and drove off thinking what a waste of a couple of hours that was.

We made a well-justified detour to have a look at Mangerton mill - very interesting and got some great photos. The teashop was an unexpected bonus. I ordered a ploughman's and thought I'd get something small and dainty. Nope, a big plateful of delicious mature cheddar arrived, along with a pot of chutney, a small cottage loaf and a mountain of mixed salads! My husband's cheese omelette was equally impressive, light and fluffy with lots of filling. Service was very friendly and efficient, food was excellent value.
