Old School Gallery in West Dorset

We visited this cafe and weren’t met with a particularly warm welcome. We were told that all the tables were booked inside and we could sit outside. The website says that bookings are taken for large bookings so naturally assumed that bookings for 2 people couldn’t be made. We decided to give the cafe a 2nd chance and sat outside. Whilst eating the table was inundated with loads of wasps making the whole experience miserable. Shan’t be visiting again.

We stumbled across the cafe during a long distance bike ride and both the food and the welcome were exceptional! We enjoyed a delicious home-cooked meal, finished with amazing cakes and coffee. The cafe was warm and comfortable, we didn’t want to leave!! Highly recommended!

Really enjoyed my experience at the old school gallery in yetminster, Amazing hospitality brilliant food and most probably the best caramel latte I've ever had Alexandra the lovely lady who owns it went out of her way to tell me and my friend about the history of the building aswell.

An amazing team, they were really friendly and happy to help!! Would recommend to anyone passing through Yetminster!!

Alex and her parents are running an amazing cafe, so helpful and the food was amazing, away with girlfriends for a weekend, we’ll be back for the breakfast…. If you ever in the area you must go…… little gem of a place……

A great little tea shop with a wide range of drinks, homemade sandwiches and cakes. There’s a lovely ambience and the staff are welcoming and friendly.

used to visit this cafe often when old owners were there. will now not visit as was spoken to rather rudley. no atmophere now. when you go on you are looked at as if you sholud not be there. black coffee now nearly undrinkable. such a pity as was a lovely place.

We were passing through Yetminster and stopped to pick up a sandwich and cake for our trip home. The welcome was warm just like the fire that was going. We had the salmon sandwich and a tuna sandwich and a slice of chocolate cake. All were lovely! Next time we are in the area we will back, but will sit in and enjoy the fire and a coffee! :-)

We've been visiting the Old school gallery for many years now and have nothing but praise for what they do for the local community. The food quality is always superb and very reasonable. Cosy up by the fire in winter with cake and coffee or enjoy a great lunch. Sarah, Kelly and the team are always welcoming which makes it difficult to stay away. We've been twice this week and it's still only Wednesday!

What a lovely place this is. Can't understand why someone has just written such a harsh review. We were on a cycle ride and stopped here for lunch. Good food, great atmosphere and a warm welcome. Will come here again for certain.

Just returned home after having stopped here for a snack. What a disappointment. The two women serving are very nice but spent more time apologising about how busy they were rather than concentrating on fulfilling the orders. I have never known anyone to take at least 45 minutes to produce a cup of coffee and a toasted sandwich. The cafe wasn't even full! I really regret having stopped here as I could have been home (Yeovil), showered and fed in less time than it took for my food to arrive there. Hence, I will definitely not be stopping here again. I'd rather go hungry. And I regret having to say this.

An absolutely delightful village shop, gallery and cafe! We were staying about a mile away across fields and walked there plus dog. Coffee was good plus simple breakfast sandwiches (bacon/egg/sausage). Lovely welcoming staff. Car parking on site (the surrounding roads are a bit squeezy).

Our first visit for quite a while but this beautiful little tearoom is still as good as ever.I had a excellent Tuna Mayo sandwich ( the orange mayonnaise is so tasty) and my wife had a lovely soft light orange and lemon sponge cake which looked and tasted gorgeous. The hot drinks were really good and both the owner and the other member of staff were polite, friendly and efficient. We sent a picture of the cake to our daughter at university and she has asked if we can take her this weekend when she is home ( she loves this place) so a return visit for us in the next couple of days which we are already all greatly looking forward too.

excellent place to eat. bacon sandwiches to die for. size of portions are fantstic and very resonable price. staff always friendly and polite. they have stayed open all through the pandemic. they were very covid safe.

Would have to say that this place served probably one of the tastiest chocolate cakes we've eaten! Would thoroughly recommend! All of the food and cakes being served looked delicious, great service too!

Went to the old school gallery today with my husband and our daughter ,(5th time in five weeks)It was my husbands birthday, lovely sandwich’s and lovely cakes, one with a candle in it for him ,which the room of people joined in singing happy birthday .....The staff are so kind and can not do enough for you . Our favourite place to just sit back and relax, with the lovely decor and great atmosphere. Looking forward to the next visit very soon .

A friendly place with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of character. The tables were a bit crammed around the shop stock, but the service was very friendly. The flat whites were excellent, the food portions generous and tasty. Prices were reasonable, too. What's not to like?

Super place to stop and relax & eat.We had 2 x scones & Americano Coffee each and our son had a teacake. All were excellent. Coffees were very good, great flavor and strength. Staff were very polite and efficient, lovely service. We sat outside, but inside there are lovely sofa or table and chair options for seating. We will defiantly return.

Such a pretty old school house. Inside is just as attractive. It’s a mix of merchandise for sale and comfy sofas and other seating areas for those wishing to enjoy a coffee, perhaps with a delicious cake, or a light lunch. We enjoyed toasted tuna sandwiches with orange mayonnaise and salad garnish, served with salad and crisps, and a pot of tea. Very relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff.I would certainly recommend a visit.

My friend has just moved to the village and been banging on about going here for a hot chocolate so we made it. Lovely chap serving. Very friendly and welcoming. Had such a homely feel with throws for you to use if necessary but the fire was lit. Hot choc lovely. Had a tea cake with it. Very reasonable prices.

If you like cake then this is just one reason to visit. The best cake I've tasted for ages in fact...apple, cranberry and parsnip. Yum. So good to eat a slab of cake that lives up to the visual expectations! Tasty and fresh. Generous portions. The other cakes looked fantastic too. Great tasting coffee and tea served by lovely, friendly staff in cosy, thought through surroundings. An excellent stop off during a winters walk around Yetminster. Thank you Sarah :)

My friend and I discovered this place whilst driving home from a day out walking in Dorset, it was after 4pm and we decided to take a diversion from the A37 and see what the village of Yetminster had to offer.Wow what a surprise we had it was 4.25 when we arrived and closing time was 4.30 but that wasn’t a problem as we were warmly welcomed by Sarah into an Aladdin,s cave of tea coffee and cake, easy chairs and settees surrounded by gifts and cards for all occasions to buy or just admire.Sarah and her staff were absolutely charming and we promised we will return with our wivesA most delightful experience, thankyou.

Having first discovered this lovely Cafe in September 2017, I've returned several more times this year. A warm welcome awaits, as do nice tea's,coffee's and lovely cakes. The ambience is particularly noteworthy with very tastefully chosen furniture throughout. A high standard of artwork is always on display, so plenty to gaze at while you enjoy your visit.

We went there on a miserable rainy afternoon for a coffee and bite. We were greeted very enthusiastically by Sarah, the proprietor and her able assistant. We ordered coffee and I had a delicious Americano and my wife, a latte. She had a quiche, cous cous and salad and I had a brie and cranberry toasted sandwich with really good fresh salad garnish and crisps.

This was recommend to us by villagers walking their dogs when we spoke to them to ask about somewhere for a light lunch and they were not wrong. On a cold day the open fire was as warm and welcoming as the two staff members we met. They were pleasant, chatty and helpful and the food was just what we needed. I don’t like milk so can’t personally vouch for it, but apparently the hot white chocolate my friend enjoyed was superb. I will certainly return if ever I’m in Yetminster again.

We have been here several times and have always been made welcome, lovely friendly staff with lovely lunch and cream teas. Great display of local crafts available to buy.

I have visited this place a good number of times over the past few years with friends and family, so was looking forward to it when I called in with my "other half" recently. Sadly I was let down - cakes were hard to see/choose from on a high stacking shelf arrangement, and those on display mostly seemed to have the fruit at the very bottom... so I had the carrot cake which was fine, but other half had a teacake which when it came was clearly very stale, the dryness not mitigated by the generous amount of butter on the side as the teacake wasn't warm/soft enough for the butter to melt into it. There is a very fancy coffee machine but the coffee produced was really weak, big cups meaning too much water to coffee ratio in the Americano. Also there is now a TV showing News 24. Why? This is a place to take friends for a chat, to get away from media misery - plus if you really need news they already supply the papers for visitors. Sadly disappointed ...

Galería muy amable con algunas artesanías preciosas a precios asequibles. Excelente café y pasteles. 4 estrellas que era agobiante debido a un taller, que se celebra en el centro de la galería. Eso dificultó el acceso a algunos de los productos para una venta. Sin embargo, volveré de nuevo

Wonderful experience. We stopped for a light lunch and sat by the fire. Friendly, helpful staff in a room filled with interesting arts and crafts.
