Wonderful Dorset pub with extended garden, warming decor and a refreshing 'outsider' vibe. Great music on the speakers; including reggae, Australian punk, rock, funk and more. Reasonable prices for drinks and regular, individual pop-up nights as well as community events.
What a charming venue this is. Decor is informal bordering on rustic but with a stylish theme nonetheless. The food and service was excellent with reasonable prices and prompt service, even during busier times. The young staff were warm, courteous and friendly. If you're looking for an interesting venue squarely in the middle of town and would also enjoy the adjacent interesting and eclectic antiques boutique it also encompasses, you'll like this place. We have returned a number times and will certainly do so again.
Had a quick stop for some dinner on the way home. As is Sunday a carvary was on the menu which seemed great.
However, food was bland. The gravy is out on for you on the plate before you are allowed to put your vegetables on.
I asked politely if I could have it on after my vegetables had been put on my plate and was swiftly told I could but would have to go to the back of the queue again!
Why is it they can't offer small just of gravy if it's such an inconvenience to have him put it on after?
To be honest it's like water with crumbs of meat in so not worth the drama anyway.
I have eaten many carvery's in the local area and this is by far the worse i've had by far.
We had high expectations of the Olive Tree which unfortunately weren't realised. I had the Smoked Salmon Pate to start, which was excellent. My wife had the Fondant Bravas which had no spice at all and were quite dull. We both ordered the Sea Bass special for main course. The cooking of the fish was accurate but the skin wasn't crispy but had been left on. The boiled vegetables were again accurately cooked but had no seasoning and felt a bit odd with the fish. The potatoes were very good. Overall it was an underwhelming experience. Nothing wrong with the price point, everything was edible, just a bit flat.
Not the fastest service, but a clean comfortable well laid out restaurant. The liked the atmosphere and choice of background music which presented well the Italian theme. Pity the staff don't have a uniform to match. The food was absolutely fine.

We travelled all the way from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 and got this restaurant recommended by a friend of mine. The service was very courteous, very good food. Nice ambiance. Will come back again.
