Wonderful Dorset pub with extended garden, warming decor and a refreshing 'outsider' vibe. Great music on the speakers; including reggae, Australian punk, rock, funk and more. Reasonable prices for drinks and regular, individual pop-up nights as well as community events.

I really love supporting local pubs when I can, we popped in on a Friday evening when Tortilla Cantina organised a pop up restaurant, unfortunately being just after New years it was a little quiet, but the pub was lovely, the beer was reasonably priced. I highly recommend a pint of Tom Browns. My only criticism would be it was a freezing evening and the fire wasn’t lit and the back door was open, so it was a little draughty. Apart from that it was lovely.

Slightly strange pub. Bit like a micropub squatting in the decaying remains of a large establishment. Skittle alley at back was in darkness but could see tables and chairs everywhere. Large garden at back but there are apparently plans to build flats at the back though rumours that the pub will close are not correct I was told. Were 2 ales available. The one I chose was in good condition and extremely good. I was in on a Sunday afternoon and the pub was quite quiet. Friendly service but not a particularly convivial pub

Ive been here a few times and always had a pleasant experience so have enjoyed music nights, food and beer here. It’s a distinctive friendly local pub, with decent real ales and ciders at reasonable prices. Music nights are definitely worth checking out, though its equally good for a visit as a couple or with friends. No intrusive sky TV, just a. Good ‘pub atmosphere’ and a great place to visit for a few, or. Few too many pints. Lovely little pub.

3 walkers popped in for a late afternoon pint after a very long walk. Delighted to discover a choice of 4 excellent ales on tap and a warm welcome from behind the bar. The background music was perfect for us babyboomers - and the mixed group of customers made for a friendly atmosphere - making our Thursday afternoon a bit special. We will be going back - and next time, having been tortured by the fabulous smells emanating from their kitchen we will try something from the menu.

The perfect end to a wander around and about Dorchester (including a lovely walk alongside the river). The greeting was warm and genuine – from the lady behind the bar and the three local gentlemen sitting at the bar. Even as a pair of soaking wet, map-clutching tourists, we were made to feel as welcome as any regular. The Piddle beer was perfect and the atmosphere was relaxed. There’s a piano, games, and lots of quirky stuff to look at. The kind of pub you wish was near your home.

We were staying locally and wanted a warm, friendly, old fashioned real Ale pub. We were recommended by the Premier Inn that we were staying at to try Tom Browns, we were advised that they don't do food but we were not looking to eat. With a lovely log fire, an old piano, and great local "brown beers" as my husband calls them, and some wonderful local apple ciders for me to sample we had discovered a little gem. The staff were very friendly and the manageress and her husband along with their lovely baby, give the place just the type of family atmosphere we were looking for. It was obvious that it is also well loved by folk living near by as most were greeted by their first names. Sadly there was none of the live folk music we had been told about but maybe that was because it was not a weekend when we visited. The whole place was spotless including the restrooms. So if you want to sample some good local beers and cider and be looked after by warm and friendly staff then pop into Tom browns.

We came with friends as we had all been gifted afternoon tea, and chose to visit this tearoom. We booked just over a week in advance. What a great choice! A great selection of beautifully fresh finger sandwiches, scones, cream and jam. and a selection of small cakes, which were so light. Absolutely scrumptious. We weren't rushed, so we could sit and enjoy our food. The folk working in the tearoom were very welcoming and we had a delightful afternoon. Thank you!

Experience started off well - can't book dining online so e-mailed request and ended up having to phone - conversation was very friendly and welcoming. From then on it went down-hill. I have some restricted mobility and walk with a stick. Arrive at front of pub and realise its a steep flight of stairs to entrance. Manage up that, holding on to railing. OK welcome when we got in - we were early for our6pm booking but no problem although we were told kitchen doesn't start till 6 (says 5 on website). Where do we sit - here or upstairs - where's the toilet - upstairs - OK we'll sit upstairs. Two young kids around the bar (owner's presumably) - we order drinks and have to start carrying them and menus up steep and narrow stairs to the next floor. Has an eclectic look to the room, plus an external covered patio area. Everywhere has dirt / dead flies and isn't appealing. By then all hell had broken out in a very aggressive domestic back downstairs in the bar - manager and staff (wife?) - all about whether glasses were dirty - this had started in front of one of us while waiting for drinks to be poured - manager part poured a coke held it up and said glass is dirty - poured into another glass and said this one was dirty too - but then proceeded to fill the glass up and hand it over to the customer. The staff member (wife?) denied they were dirty and said she had cleaned them. As we sat upstairs the row just got louder and louder - and was clearly in front of the kids as well. We were the only customers and sat debating to order or to go. The argument suddenly stopped. We were feeling decidedly uncomfortable - no one came near us at 6 to see if we wanted to order. We decided to beat a retreat quickly and went back downstairs to pay for our drinks. The manager did ask us if there was a reason why we weren't staying - we didn't want to get into a conversation about the the appalling behaviour so just left.
