Having had a less than positive experience trying to get a table at a nearby cafe, D’Urbervilles was recommended by a local shopkeeper. Beautiful building housing an interesting homewares shop with a great cafe attached. The frittata was fabulous. Loved it!

Went for lunch at the suggestion of a friend. I was not impressed by the menu which was limited in choice and extravagant in content. I dread to think of the food miles. I feel that £8 for soup is too much. I make my own soup often and it would only cost maybe 50p max for a bowl. That’s some mark up. As a volunteer for a food charity in touch with people who could make a meal for a family for £8 this seemed crazy. We have lost touch with just how pampered and privileged we are with food. There is a lot to be said for simple eating. I chose to eat a croissant. It was raw in the middle and gave me a stomach upset. On the positive thé staff were absolutely lovely. The ambience nice enough. The company was great too.

This beautiful enticing building from the outside caught out attention so we popped in. We didn’t eat as we had just eaten elsewhere but wished we had. It looked an interesting menu. We did have a mooch around the shop though which was full of lovely gifts and homewares. We will be back next visit.

What an interesting find. Antiques and other items displayed without the creepy feeling you get in some antique marts. The cafe is a real treasure - situate in this lovely old building. Good coffee, cakes and friendly, efficient service.

What can I say about Cafe D’Urberville that would convince anyone that hasn’t been to go now ?! Annabell and her team run a wonderful cafe with a fantastic atmosphere , very friendly but also efficient. The coffee is fantastic starting of course with a first rate product , Reads but also part the secret is in the execution which D’Urberville excels. Cake Omg too many to choose a favourite , all home made and delicious not to mention generous in portion ! if I had to choose any stand outs then here goes : Feathercake - billowy heaven, Frangipan can’t beat it , Oaties , when you’re trying to be good😂, Croissant cake , naughty but nice , Honey cake ,yum , Coffee and walnut , can’t beat a traditional . Note that all doggies can get a treat too if they’re good ! A true jewel in Sherborne’s splendid crown - go there ❤️

We came across this lovely place on our first visit to Sherborne. What a find! Fabulous and very interesting building with a cafe, beautiful shop, bar and art gallery incorporating an art school. We had lunch here and it was delicious. The staff are really lovely and efficient. The building is also dog friendly. We will definitely be back!

If you're after a quirky little café for a quick bite, look no further. Lovely food, staff and facilities. The daily menu is limited, but that's not a bad thing. My brie and fig toastie was great! And, it's dog friendly.

I visited here yesterday and really wanted to write a review to express how incredible the staff are! It was quite a hectic evening due to an influx of people celebrating their last day of 6th form however the staff handled the busyness superbly. They were prompt with orders and drink delivery, polite and smiling even though it was so busy and they handled the evening so well . I was only there for an hour and a half approx. But in that time the evening was very pleasant and I felt the staff deserved to know how fantastic they were! In particular Lea, Milly and the other person behind the bar (red jumper) and the waitress who was soo great and served us on the table down the steps (so sorry I didn’t get your names) ! They deserve all of the tips!! Will definitely visit again.

A nice old building. Seating a bit cramped. Food: two small bowls of Dahl soup with measley portions of cauliflower served luke warm. This plus two small bottles of water cost in excess of £28. A bit of a 'rip off,' we thought.

So grateful to Annabel at Cafe D'Urberville for all her help during a private event on Saturday night. Nothing was too much trouble and her team were so friendly, helpful and kept our glasses topped up all evening. Fabulous cocktails and delicious and plentiful 'piccie food'! Everyone gave me great and positive feed back on the evening. Thank you so much for the most memorable birthday celebration.

This is an interesting antique/bric a brac centre over several floors. It also incorporates a charming cafeteria selling the largest and most delicious home made cakes and a selection of coffees and teas served by friendly staff. Regrettably we were unable to sample the lunch/evening/cocktail menus due to time constraints. However, it is a venue we plan to revisit.

A hundred yards from Sherborne Abbey stands the splendid D'Urberville Café. Sited in a succession of rooms over several floors this ancient building also contains a fascinating shop ("antiques for contemporary living"), and an art gallery (which I missed, sadly). We were there for lunch with a niece and her two energetic young sons. We loved it. My main course was the super green falafel with watermelon tomato, salsa, yoghurt and flatbread. This might sound an odd combination, but it was delicious! The two other grown-ups chose the harissa, chickpeas, giant couscous & carrot salad with feta... and were equally enthusiastic. The boys happily shared a plate of hummus, olives, and flatbread. For pudding we had a selection of D'Urberville's fresh-baked cakes... all scrumptious. I particularly enjoyed the mint chocolate pistachio slice... unusual and so tasty. We thought their flat white coffee especially good. The boys LOVED their 'kids' chocolate with marshmallows'... a spectacular treat! D'Urberville Café offers terrific food. It has great style and is full of character. The members of staff are young, efficient and patient. A lovely touch: unbidden the owner brought a basket of wooden toys for the two boys in our party to play with. We were there Saturday lunchtime in mid-summer. It was busy, and well worth having reserved a table in advance. On our way out we met a couple dithering over the menu on the blackboard outside. Would they enjoy D'Urberville? "It's delicious!" we said. "Alright then," said the husband, and they charged up the stairs. I bet they had as enjoyable a meal as we did!

I love D'Urberville, it is an absolute gem of a find, looking so unassuming from outside. I first came for their Friday night cocktails which were 10/10, and have since been back for lunch. The food takes a little while to come out because it's all freshly prepared - and you can tell that by the quality. The wait is nothing of an issue when it is all consistently so well-done, whether it be the drinks or food. The staff have always been so kind and helpful. My favorite place to take people who have never been!

An absolute gem of cafe to stubble into on a days shopping in Sherborne. I enjoyed a coffee and their signature croissant cake (recommended by the proprietor) - it was so good - definitely would recommend! I loved it so much that I returned for their cocktail evening on that Friday. Lovely cocktails, a warm reception by the staff and all-round good time. I'll be back soon to try their lunch menu which looks delicious.

Experience started off well - can't book dining online so e-mailed request and ended up having to phone - conversation was very friendly and welcoming. From then on it went down-hill. I have some restricted mobility and walk with a stick. Arrive at front of pub and realise its a steep flight of stairs to entrance. Manage up that, holding on to railing. OK welcome when we got in - we were early for our6pm booking but no problem although we were told kitchen doesn't start till 6 (says 5 on website). Where do we sit - here or upstairs - where's the toilet - upstairs - OK we'll sit upstairs. Two young kids around the bar (owner's presumably) - we order drinks and have to start carrying them and menus up steep and narrow stairs to the next floor. Has an eclectic look to the room, plus an external covered patio area. Everywhere has dirt / dead flies and isn't appealing. By then all hell had broken out in a very aggressive domestic back downstairs in the bar - manager and staff (wife?) - all about whether glasses were dirty - this had started in front of one of us while waiting for drinks to be poured - manager part poured a coke held it up and said glass is dirty - poured into another glass and said this one was dirty too - but then proceeded to fill the glass up and hand it over to the customer. The staff member (wife?) denied they were dirty and said she had cleaned them. As we sat upstairs the row just got louder and louder - and was clearly in front of the kids as well. We were the only customers and sat debating to order or to go. The argument suddenly stopped. We were feeling decidedly uncomfortable - no one came near us at 6 to see if we wanted to order. We decided to beat a retreat quickly and went back downstairs to pay for our drinks. The manager did ask us if there was a reason why we weren't staying - we didn't want to get into a conversation about the the appalling behaviour so just left.

We came with friends as we had all been gifted afternoon tea, and chose to visit this tearoom. We booked just over a week in advance. What a great choice! A great selection of beautifully fresh finger sandwiches, scones, cream and jam. and a selection of small cakes, which were so light. Absolutely scrumptious. We weren't rushed, so we could sit and enjoy our food. The folk working in the tearoom were very welcoming and we had a delightful afternoon. Thank you!
