Substandard meal, worst place we've eaten in lyme, other than the burger, all of the portion sizes were inadequate. The Ploughmans was truly horrendous it looked as if someone had poured a tesco sandwich on my plate. I'm really not sure how you can get something so simple so wrong. Overall, overpriced and bad portions. Service was really good and the bar staff were friendly, really hate to leave a bad review of the food but felt if we had seen this review we wouldn't have wasted close to £90 on food that was so disappointing. Next time, we would order drinks only.

Service was fine. Children’s meals were good Unfortunately our adult meals were disappointing! Whitebait that was thrown on a plate and only 6 pieces, small mussels were ok but the ‘sourdough’ bread was 2 slices of bread that looked like it was from Tesco, ploughman’s £12, again cheap bread, no apple, a ridiculously small slice of cheddar cheese (wish I had thought of taking a picture but was in shock) small slice of Brie, a tiny chunk of ham, a bit of lettuce, spoonful of chutney and some pickled radish (it was about the size of my 5yo’s children meal) Also they say on all their signs they serve all day but actually the kitchen is closed 3-5

Fantastic food yet again at Ship Inn - great value (especially Xmas set menu including a glass of mulled wine). Quality of produce 2nd to none, and plated to perfection. Warm and friendly staff met us at this recently refurbished Inn. The dining area was cosy and they welcomed our dog. It was a great menu and looked locally sourced. We treated ourselves to starters of squid, olives and homemade bread and they were perfect in size and taste. I had the delicious battered haddock and homemade mushy peas. I would have preferred the chips on the plate as the little bucket looked rusty inside. The catch of the day was hake and the clearly very talented chef offered an unusual carrot and orange 'sauce'. It was more than a sauce though! Highly recommend the lunchtime menu and will definitely be back again soon.

First visit to The Ship under it’s new management. The Ship has always been the runt of the litter, in terms of Lyme pubs, but has been transformed. It was buzzing when we arrived at c.1830. Really friendly staff. We sat outside for a pint then went inside to eat. Food was very, very good - scallops and squid for starters, steak and sea trout as mains. All excellent bar the purée with the scallops which was more of a soup, but one of those things. All priced very reasonably and a cut above average pub grub. Slight down side is that the dining area is very small and was a little claustrophobic as it was so busy, and the garden could do with a trellis or a few more hanging baskets to make it a little more enticing. Overall, superb and a great new venue for Lyme.

JUNE 2023 … multiple visits. Drinking 🍺 and eating. 😎 weather days, was very lively. Young, energetic, friendly staff. We had catch of the day.. Mussels with potatoes.. worked well. Tasty. Proper pub… QUIZ NIGHT Wednesday evening. Lively. Short and sweet… met up with a local couple of friends at the Ship Inn and we suffered a ‘breakdown in communication’ they’d eaten and we hadn’t 😳. The lovely landlady feeling sorry for us (as they had no chef on that evening) let us bring in Fish, chips and mushy peas from the Lyme Fish Bar opposite. Much appreciated. Very tasty IPA 🍺 proper local pub 👍😊👏🍺. Quality landlady 👍

Recently refurbished and reopened, after a couple of years closed, this is a lovely little pub with a relaxed bar area and smarter restaurant area. Ben, the new proprietor, was great: really friendly and chatty, and happy to book a table for us to watch the FA Cup final. Food was delicious too, My OH had the fish and chips and I had the steak. A wonderful pub. What joy to find mussels on the menu!! They were truly delicious, I didn't want fries with mine and the staff were more than accommodating, providing a salad instead. The staff were professional, efficient, but more importantly, fun and happy. Too full to try pudding so cannot comment but if the main was anything to go by it would have been scrummy I'm sure. Definitely an establishment to try. The views from our table of the sea were stunning.

Lovely tranquil pub close to the Town Mill. Very nice inside and lovely atmosphere. We went back there couple of times and always had a great time. Thursday night we booked for dinner and we enjoyed a lot actually. The menu is simple and not pretentious. The ingredients are lovely and fresh and in all fairness I had the best cooked plate of spaghetti 🍝 in england... for the first time I had a good quality spaghetti properly cooked and the tomato sauce was nice and fresh. I asked without cheese because I know that some restaurants have the habit to put cheese straight away and I don't like it but was delicious. We have mozzarella bocconcini with parma ham and the flavours were really nice. After all the horrible plate of pasta I had in Lyme this was the simpler and the best. The lady that was cooking was very nice calm and polite. She was by herself in the kitchen s well so well done. For a small and quiet place not bad. :) .

I should have realised when the pub was empty and everywhere else was full. Positives - staff seemed lovely and friendly Negatives - Food was below mediocre. We ordered parmesan crusted chicken, salt and pepper squid, Prawns and a bowl of pasta - just short of £50 with soft drinks. The squid and chicken were covered in breadcrumb very little flavour. Who breadcrumbs squid, just a light salt and pepper batter would have been easier and cheaper and more effective. The pasta came out tepid with a cheddar grated on the top. The prawn were the nicest of the three things, nothing came out at the same time either. If I'd paid half the price I would not be writing these comments. For the first time in Lyme I feel like a ripped off tourist.

Discriminatory Pub - Avoid! Ironically their website states “We offer a warm welcome to all, dogs included!”. Certainly not the case if you have a medical condition that prevents you wearing a face mask. Visited this pub on Saturday 3rd July and asked for a table to have a drink. There were tables available and we were about to be seated until the owner, very rudely, insisted I put on a face mask. I explained that I was legally and medically exempt but was asked to leave. The owner said she didn’t care and we were not welcome. I was absolutely disgusted at being discriminated in this way. Do they discriminate against black people, gay people for example or was it just me? The pub was busy with tables extremely close together. Certainly no 2 metre rule or social distancing going on with everyone cramped together. Having been in the hospitality industry myself I couldn’t believe that anyone would treat potential customers in this way. There are plenty of other nice pubs and restaurants in Lyme Regis so I would strongly advise you spend your money elsewhere where they appreciate your business. This pub is breaking the law on two accounts. No attempt at social distancing between tables and discrimination. Needless to say, I won’t be going back.

We came with friends as we had all been gifted afternoon tea, and chose to visit this tearoom. We booked just over a week in advance. What a great choice! A great selection of beautifully fresh finger sandwiches, scones, cream and jam. and a selection of small cakes, which were so light. Absolutely scrumptious. We weren't rushed, so we could sit and enjoy our food. The folk working in the tearoom were very welcoming and we had a delightful afternoon. Thank you!

We had an incredible experience at the Cross Keys. Mo and his team hosted my Father's funeral wake yesterday. The whole experience was incredible - made so special by Mo, Lucy, David and the girls. Nothing was too much trouble, and we felt completely wrapped up in their arms from the moment we walked through the door to make the arrangements, right through to the day itself. I cannot thank the team enough for creating such a special celebration, which you planned so incredibly well. The delicious food platters were superb, and all the guests said what a beautiful venue it was. I was personally nurtured throughout the whole day, with Mo and Lucy checking in with me to make sure everything was perfect - and even David coming in on his day off to make sure my Dad's favourite music was being played. I can't thank them all enough from the bottom of my heart for all their kindness. We stayed in their family suite for the night. Our room was superb, with the biggest bed I've ever slept in, and beautiful views out onto the market square and the Conduit. I can thoroughly recommend a stay at the Cross Keys - the service is exceptional, the rooms amazing, and the breakfast was superb. We also had our evening meal in the restaurant, and it was exceptional. THANK YOU TO THE WHOLE TEAM AT THE CROSS KEYS - YOU ARE ALL AMAZING.
