Italia in West Dorset

Not the fastest service, but a clean comfortable well laid out restaurant. The liked the atmosphere and choice of background music which presented well the Italian theme. Pity the staff don't have a uniform to match. The food was absolutely fine.

We visited this restaurant as a trip down memory lane, having been before a few years ago. Unfortunately our experience this time was not great. Firstly, I cannot fault the front of house girls, they welcomed us with a smile and seemed happy in their work. However, the lighting was far too bright for evening dining. The chairs made awful scraping noises on the floor. The food really was not up to standard. I ordered a Calzone with three different cheeses + Olives and Salami. I did get this but with no basic tomato sauce topping. Friends ordered Lasagne and 2 pasta dishes (which I cannot recall the name of) all of these were not served hot. Sadly, a lot of food was wasted. I do not think we will be revisiting this place again.

A very nice Italian restaurant in Monmouth Street Lyme Regis. The food was excellent and catered for my wife's Gluten intolerance with no problem. The dining room was exceptionally clean and the hygiene standard was brilliant. Very reasonable prices and a good selection of wines. My wife is now hooked on a new drink for her, Limoncello Sunrise, which was suggested by the Lady behind the bar. Well worth a visit

They served us leftover food which had clear bite marks in it but they denied it and still charged us for drinks and our terrible starters. How everyone carried on eating their meals, I do not know. really filthy food hygiene practices, and the lowest grade of food is used. Nothing fresh or local.

There is nothing special about this place and there was zero atmosphere, not even background music. Cracked cheap plastic chais with tables all in a row gave off a staff canteen/cafe vibe. The staff were friendly and efficient but being served by a girl in a filthy skirt was off putting. The food was good but the experience was perfunctory rather than enjoyable.

Delicious Italian food in the centre of Lyme. Some reviews suggest the food is average but we found everything to be excellent. Service was also prompt and very friendly. The restaurant also dies takeaway and agin this was spot on. Ready a little ahead of time. Pizzas are authentic rather than Pizza hut style so bases are thin and crispy. The pasta choices from creamy garlic sauces to traditional Ragu were all well seasoned and really flavoursome!

Ate here midweek with friends. It’s a small restaurant with minimal decor. Staff were welcoming. Menu is reasonably priced Italian comfort food. Our group had either a pasta dish or pizza. Everything was fine and tasty, just nothing special

A really warm welcome at this friendly and well run restaurant greets you. Excellent food finishing with a wonderful tiramisu

Had a starter and both had pizzas, both of us thought the pizza was really average and pretty bland, and that you could get a better one from Tesco for a lot less money, the toppings were quite mushy and watery, while the crust was rock hard. The staff were attentive and helpful which was a plus, we didn't bother staying for dessert.

Walking by on a sunny evening, we asked and got a table for our family group of five. Staff were friendly and efficient throughout. Our food came quickly and was very tasty indeed. The pizza lovers were happy and the pasta people were also very pleased indeed. The bill at the end seemed very reasonable. A great little spot with lovely staff and yummy Italian food - what more could anyone ask for?

Pretty poor pizzas considering the price they charge. Toppings looked like they were straight from a packet and thrown on. Very touristy and overall a quite disappointing.

Wow! What a great find this Italian restaurant was in Lyme Regis. The food was absolutely delicious. Two of us selected the scallops from the Specials, they were the best we have tasted, ever! Two of us had pasta dishes, one had a Margarita pizza and I had the hake from the Specials. We found every dish full of flavour; we were all so impressed, what an amazing chef. They offer takeaway and word has clearly spread because there was a continuous stream of people collecting pizzas. We tried a couple of cocktails, had wine and soft drinks and tried the gelato, brownie and limoncello cheesecake for dessert. The service was just right, friendly, attentive but allowed us to eat our meal leisurely without us feeling we had to hurry. I urge you to visit this restaurant, you will be so pleased you did.

We wanted a last special meal to end off our lovely family weekend to Lyme Regis. Thank goodness we ended up at Italia after a disastrous start to the evening @ Pilot boat. Food was excellent, service was personal, great atmosphere - fantastic evening - thank you for ending our little holiday with our daughter from South Africa this way.

We ate at Italia on our first night in Lyme Regis. My parents had eaten at the restaurant previously, and it was conveniently located a couple of doors from our cottage. The food was simple but both delicious and generous, and the service very friendly. If you’re after good Italian food at a fair price, you can’t go wrong with this restaurant.

We had a very enjoyable evening meal in this nice family restaurant. The fish of the day dish was especially memorable, although too generous a portion for me to finish!

We booked in advance and ordered a seafood linguine and a lasagna. As we thought that the portion is not big and we were very hungry we also ordered a mafiosa pizza to share, but ended up hardly able to finish them. We have many opportunities to have italian dishes and have eaten in many other excellently reviewed restaurants in this holiday and therefore have a high benchmark. Yet the food here stands well above average across all dishes we ordered. The price was more than reasonable given the modern decor and the level of service. So if this restaurant is not among the top choice in the area should be a top alternative venue for a good dinner.

Attentive and friendly service is a good start when eating out.This Italian was operating under the strict Corona Virus rules so maybe a little different at different times.I have given my review 3* because the food was of a manufactured reheated from frozen variety with prices that were more suitable to made-from-fresh ingredients.Not bad, just not good or worth the money. We have made better ourselves at home.

First impressions were good - warm greeting, pleasant surroundings (if a little cold with door open all night), compact menu and good wine list.Always believe a compact menu gives the chef every chance to excel at his job as less to concentrate on. Starters were excellent - good tastes and very fresh but, have to say, more an assembly job than cooking. Wine was excellent.The mains were very disappointing and felt, rightly or wrongly, like another assembly job? The pasta was cooked ok but the accompaniments were bottled and heated - bottled passata rather than their own cooked tomato sauce (how much trouble is that) to which was added frozen (or bottled) mussels and prawns. Expected fresher seafood in this location and more rounded tomato sauce and, for what it was, cheaper!Wine was excellent and we felt very comfortable but the mains were very disappointing...maybe stick to pizza which look good but we do not really like.....

We are regular visitors to Lyme and tonight we decided we needed pizza but where to order from? We chose to order from the restaurant closest to where we are staying and so glad we did. Our order arrived earlier than expected and was really hot. The pizza’s were both voted a big success and the Lasagne was lovely with a side order of the garlic and rosemary potatoes and Mediterranean vegetables. House vote means we will be ordering again from here on our final night in Lyme.

This was our first visit to Italia & we were not disappointed. We both had Pizza & it was freshly made & delicious. As were the desserts & bottle of fizz to celebrate our 40th anniversary. The staff were attentive with out being intrusive. A great place to eat & I must say the chairs were very, very comfortable. We shall return.

The restaurant was laid out to comply with the current regulations, but this did not effect the service offered. The food was very good and staff polite, booking was essential.

Delicious meal! The vegetarian antipasti starter was beautifully presented with different cheeses, olives, breads and salad; it was delicious and a huge portion!Our mains of lasagna and mushroom tagliatelle was also very flavoursome and hugely tasty. I would recommend Italian. The staff were friendly and helpful too.

Tucked away off the main road through Lyme this is well worth finding. Used all 4 nights we were on staycation in September. Very friendly staff and good food. Tables very well spaced out in light and airy restaurant with big windows. Staff all wore masks and were obviously taking great care under current restrictions which was good to see.

Very friendly staff who helped with my allergies so that I had my own bespoke meal. We enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. Not much atmosphere for an evening out though as there were customers in and out for takeaways all the time but as a lunch time or a quick bite before you go on for an evening out it is great.

Ate at this restaurant Tuesday 1st September. The service was good however would forget cutlery and waited a while for it but they did bring us extra knives when requested. My partner had bruschetta to start which we shared and it was lovely. For mains we both had pasta dishes. They were lovely but both on the small size. My partner and I came away from the restaurant feeling hungry as they had run out of a lot of puddings after we finished our meal. It wasn’t a bad meal at all and I enjoyed my stay but wasn’t 5* quality

A party of 8 and we all agreed that the food was excellent.Everyone we interacted with couldn't have been more friendly and helpful or made us feel more welcome. Our friends who were staying closer enjoyed it so much they went back for takeaway pizzas another night!We would not hesitate to eat here again and recommend it to anyone.

We chose to eat at Italia as we had eaten here last year when holidaying . On entry to the restaurant it was evident they were taking the COVID very seriously with reduced tables and all staff wearing masks. I noted that the table wasn’t prelaid and you are left with just placemats on the table. No cutlery was brought over until the first course of bruschetta arrived and I had to ask for it. The bruschetta was underwhelming- the bread wasn’t toasted sufficiently therefore ‘doughy’ instead of ‘crunchy’ and it needed more seasoning so I had to ask for salt and pepper. We both opted for pasta dishes but could see some great size pizzas being delivered to other tables. I had the seafood linguine and my hubby had the spicy salami penne. I had reviewed TripAdvisor previously and could see large plates of pasta and the pictures of the linguine did look amazing.It was the most expensive item on the menu at £15.95 ( for pasta). What arrived was a cereal sized /dessert bowl of pasta. Although I admit was tasty but the seafood consisted of tiny prawns and mussels/cockles.It did occur to me that perhaps due to the ‘eat out to help out scheme’ they had reduced portion sizes but I also accept that they may have invested in more crockery. Unfortunately it felt like you weren’t getting value for money .We both opted for affogato for dessert. The vanilla gelato was the best I’ve had so thoroughly enjoyed this. The menu was reduced ( I would suspect this is down to COViD) and a few items weren’t available for dessert. - no specials to choose from. I’m not sure we will return.

In what looks like an American diner our party of 8 was reserved with our expectations. I am delighted to confirm this was an utterly charming venue with great staff and even better food. Highly recommended if you are in the area

Visited on a Wednesday night with my wife and two kids. Three of us had pizza and wife had lasagne. All very nice but the best of all was the tiramisu for dessert. Incredible. Small menu but would highly recommend.

Stayed in Lyme Regis this weekend. Ordered takeaway pizza for 8 of us. Unfortunately on delivery 3 of them were incorrect. We called the restaurant who were very apologetic and new pizzas were sent out immediately. Quality was amazing. Everyone satisfied with their meals and commented how lovely and authentic they were. Thank You for rectifying error so quickly! We will use again when next down.

As Poco were too busy to do takeaway pizza we tried here and were very pleased. They even delivered. Lovely proper Italian style pizzas delivered piping hot. Would definitely use them again

I was very excited to see they had started to do lunch, I jumped at the opportunity to pop in and have a bite to eat. I also love the fact that it's the same menu throughout the day, this means I can have my favourite no matter the time of day!Keep it up!

We visited for a meal in the first couple of weeks of the restaurant being back open after lockdown. The booking system was efficient - got an email reply the same day and there are social distancing measures in place which worked well. We saw the waiting staff antibac all tables and chairs after a table left and we felt safe dining in. We had pizzas, salad and garlic bread which were all lovely. Whilst we were there they had many orders for takeaway also but we were well looked after. Our waitress was telling us she had only just started her position there so was still learning the ropes but she was friendly and we commend any restaurant taking on new staff in this current climate. We really hope they continue to do well and will definitely be visiting again

Went for a post-lockdown family meal and it was as superb as last time. I'd recommend booking a table in advance like we did, it'll be easier for both ends. The staff were super friendly and keeping with the government hygiene/safety guidelines, my family and I felt safe while being there. The food was very fresh and tasteful, it was my cousin's first time there and she absolutely loved her lasagna.The atmosphere is very nice and authentic. The place looks bright and very clean.Toilets smelled very nice and I had to ask what airfreshner they use haha. They were a bit cold but can't complain in this hot weather.Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you.

Arrived here for dinner, although we were only second table in there we were waiting a while to be served. The staff were friendly and accommodating however the food lacked finesse and any flavour. Appreciate post lockdown people are adjusting, but quality of food shouldn’t be an issue. Very sad experience. The toilets were awful. Dirty, cold and needed modernising. The restaurant itself needed a cash injection to give it more life and possibly more authenticity about it in regards to decor. A real shame.

Had a lovely pizza from these guys, lovely thin crust and a really tasty topping. I would definitely give them a try during these trying times. Support is everything

My partner and I had a meal in Italia on Thursday night last. Although we were the only ones in the restaurant (obviously time of year) we had a pleasant night and thoroughly enjoyed our pizzas which were packed with tasty toppings. The red wine and Moretti beer also went down well. The waiter was very friendly without being intrusive. Very reasonably priced and would definitely use again.

Had an evening meal here. We both had pasta dishes but they were not outstanding. The fish bouillabaisse sauce was not much more than tomato. Perhaps most go for the pizzas

On a cold a and friendly and rainy night , Italia was a treat. warm and friendly service, authentic Italian thin crust pizzas and interesting cocktails. The price was very reasonable . Only small disappointment was the bruscetta which was meagar for the price.

Although advertised as being under new management the place and staff looked very familiar. Sadly, our meal was disappointingly bland and over priced.My starter did not have all the ingredients listed on the menu and the salad was half a dozen small leaves. The main course was again disappointingly bland and I can't help wondering if the chef even has any idea where Italy is.The waiting staff, although young and very sweet, appear to lack any sort of training, were clearly not familiar with the menu. No olive oil or balsamic on the table, not an olive in sight.Could have been so much better. Sadly, won't be visiting again.

Could have been a lovely summer’s evening visiting a typical Italian restaurant.....this was not the case here.....food overpriced and inexperienced staff although they did try their best. We ordered a kir cocktail....too strong as far too much Kir....asked to do again. Main meal of pollo Milanese.....chicken well cooked but pasta and tomato sauce very bland with no flavour and a few lettuce leaves....which you would hardly call salad accompaniment to a main meal cost just under £16. They are plenty of other well priced good restaurants in Lyme Regis serving local produce.....this restaurant did not mention any local suppliers. Would definitely not visit again, as thought it was poor value for money, which is a shame as the last time we had a much better meal. As regards the staff, we were served by a very inexperienced waitress who tried her best, but believe management were not helpful in assisting her, leaving her to pour cocktails, when she had no idea. If this restaurant wants to stay open, they need to up their game, as you just can’t rely on just the summer tourist trade to survive.

Visited Italia with friends for our last night on holiday in Lyme Regis. We all have very different tastes and tried a real selection of the menu. Everything was freshly cooked, piping hot and delicious. The food was faultless but what made this a gem of a place was the gem of a waitress how although only 16 was a star. Cecelia looked after us all not with a charming smile and great attention. She took all our banter on the chin and joined in. A pleasure to eat great food, served by great staff. Often a rare thing. Thanks for a great last night treat.

The best Italian restaurant is not in Italy it is in Cascais Portugal. The food is to die for. The cheeses and the meats are sooo good but the pasta dishes take you to another world. My favorite is the gorgonzola penne wow.do not miss this amazing place to dine.
