Great food , great service and reasonable price

This restaurant was recommended to us from our friends as we don’t live locally. It was a great evening from the start to the end. It’s a lovely restaurant with a very attentive staff. The food was delicious, especially my tagliatelle mediterraneo. Very nice atmosphere overall and great value for money.

Welcomed by Alice who was very helpful in advising on the best place to park. A very good start by the waiter who was very attentive. He served drinks and food efficiently and with a smile. Food arrived hot and all were happy at this stage. One of our party had chosen the seafood pasta dish and during the meal it was noted that several mussels had been served with the shells closed thus unsafe to eat and discarded on a side plate. This was brought to the attention of a waitress who had replaced our original waiter. She said she would inform the chef. No acknowledgement was made about our complaint and it was only after we informed Alice of the problem that she stepped in and dealt with the matter in an extremely efficient and professional manner. It is a shame that not all the staff are aware of the guidelines when serving shellfish. Many thanks to Alice for dealing with our unfortunate experience.

We enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal at this authentic Italian restaurant......the food was first class and was just like being on holiday in Sorrento!

At lunchtime today I went to Tamburinos in Sherborne. ** It's changed ** Abysmal welcome, Atmosphere and Food.... 😥 What has happened ?? I've been dining here for year's.. with family and friends, enjoying excellent food and service.. Not today.. One of the staff told us it had changed hands !!!!! How very sad .. It doesn't say this on their website, it would have been nice to be informed... Have any of you dined there recently ? If so what are your thoughts.. I'm feeling so sad at the demise of this lovely restaurant.😥😥

Lovely authentic Italian food, hosted superbly by friendly staff. Excellent wine choice. We will return on our next trip to Sherbourne. Heartily recommend.

I took a party of 26 to the Sherborne restaurant and was throughly pleased with the evening. Staff made us very welcome and were attentive during service. The food was great and the feedback from my party was positive. I'd recommend Tamburino Sherborne for a good night out.

Was not impressed with the meal my partner and I had Thursday evening after a visit to the pictures! We decided to stop for quick bit to eat, there was little almost no sauce with my meat balls and pasta and served with cherry tomatoes cut in half! And my partners dish was also dry lacking sauce and bacon lardons were over cooked and hard! The only thing that was nice was the garlic bread! I won't return to another Tamburinos ever!

A great restaurant for a family lunch with a number of children as there is plenty of choice on the menu with Italian classics like spaghetti dishes and of course pizzas

Great food, excellent service. Couldn't fault it

Sadly we were quite disappointed with our meals. The confusingly high trip advisor rating encouraged expectations that were not met. Starters were just ok, we had Calamari and King Prawns , the Calamari was a bit tasteless the prawns were good. However the main courses were not great the pan seared Monk Fish had been cooked in the pan on one side too long, to the point that it had slightly charred, any more it would have burnt, areas of the fish were dry and overcooked. In contrast, my partner's pizza was slightly undercooked, the base was on the side of doughy. No we didn't complain, because we weren't asked how our food is. It was a Friday night and busy, but the quality of the food should not suffer. There are plenty of other eateries in the town to visit.

An exceptionally noisy restaurant where there are no noise absorbing materials. Unable to carry out a normal conversation without shouting. However good service & food.

Booked here for lunch and did not regret it at all. The menu choice is huge, we stuck with the 3 course lunch option, which was great. Staff were super friendly, food was great and portion sizes generous. Restaurant was very very clean. Will definitely be back. We had pollo Milanese, a Lasagne with side salad and a carbonara all excellent.

It’s ok, especially as dining options in Sherborne are limited. But it is noisy, the service slow and the food is OK.

We tried the Pizzas, steak and rissotto over several nights, all superb. Friendy competent service and a genuine Italian vibe. Book it gets very some nights. Sherbourne parking is on street so if someone in your party struggles to walk, drop them off then go and park.

Sunday meal out, poor service 20 mins for a drink, food dry and over cooked. Will not return.

First time we have visited Tamburino Gold since their refurbishment and were surprised how close the two person tables are to each other you were subjected to everybody's conversations and the lady on the table next to us had a terrible cough for which she apologised for but probably gave me the heavy cold I had for the next few days. I understand they need to sell as many tables as possible but it doesn't make a good experience. The Food and Service was Good as normal but the Restaurant layout puts us off

Recommend booking as it gets very busy. Great location, dog friendly (but ask for an outdoor table). Simple menu. The pizza was excellent and I would highly recommend it

Great food and service, lives up to the hype.

Dined here solo on a weekday evening. Atmosphere was lovely with the restaurant feeling very open to take advantage of the lovely weather. It took a little longer than expected to take my order, but once this was done, food came out promptly and tasted delicious. I return to the area multiple times a year for work and will definitely visit this restaurant again.

I had booked an evening meal for a party of 33 people on the evening of July 27th and we had a really enjoyable time. In spite of it being a busy Saturday evening, the restaurant was not fazed by the number in our group - the food was delicious and the service faultless. Everyone was delighted and a good time was had by all. I remembered having been to the Tamburino Gold with the same group of people several years ago when in Sherborne and it was good then. I was in no way disappointed with the return visit and I certainly recommend it.

Such a family friendly place with a great menu of authentic Italian food. Fast, professional service with a smile. Great place to eat out when you visit Sherborne.

Having read all the positive reviews about this restaurant, I was very disappointed with the whole experience. The staff were not particularly welcoming and the food was poor. My swordfish was dry and overcooked and the accompanying salad was served without dressing. Having said that, some of the pizzas looked pretty good but I’m not sure I will be returning.

Delicious pizza, better than many pizzas eaten in Italy

Stopped at Sherborne en route for lunch. This was recommended and we were not disappointed. We were given a warm welcome and chose the set price lunch menu. Portions were a good size and the food itself was very tasty indeed. Would happily eat there again.

The food was mostly great, our party of 7 was pretty happy. I had a couple of meatballs on the pizza that were a bit pink, which was a bit disconcerting, but no to no ill effect.

Great option for food in Sherborne

Really lovely evening. Busy - on a Sunday night, which says a lot. The staff worked very hard to provide excellent service. The bread and olives starter was a bit special! Very extensive menu, and everything going out looked great. Will be back!

We came tonight for my birthday meal and I am sorry to say we were very disappointed. We have come many times over the years and absolutely loved it. However, tonight the food was not very good at all. My husband’s chicken was hard and his crispy new potatoes were soggy. My bruschetta was on stale bread with poor presentation and taste and my main meal sausage was stringy. All in all such a disappointment and not worth the money. The service was ok but not the welcoming service you used to get and we will not be coming back or recommending it to anyone else.

My honesty opinion? The best Italian restraurant I have visited in UK...Great food, polite staff.

Food is very good but portions are quite big, so be careful if ordering 3 courses! The seating inside is quite compact and it can be noisy at busy times.

Great food and wine service was great and our waitress Charlotte was very very good. The atmosphere was lively but not to lively. We didn't book in advance but they accommodate us. Can recommend the pizza and the risotto but watch out for the red chilli they are very hot.

Had food order wrong,then rushed it,pizza overloaded and soggy,,,annoying that they checked the order twice,husband had Calzone, which was burnt on top,but still was served.

This place used to be a great local restaurant but having had various improvements made, they have hiked their prices up and it is not worth the extra. To do it just before Christmas is greedy and a plate of pasta is not worth what...

We were in Sherborne for the (small) Saturday market and hadresearched the best place for lunch. Tamburino Gold lived up to its recommendations and reviews - a brilliant welcome and meal. On a lovely day we were fortunate to be able to sit on the...

First impressions was that this was a friendly, vibrant place to call for lunch. We were not disappointed. Superb service, delicious food, fair pricing.

I usually rave over this place but last night's meal was rather disappointing. The lasagne was all cheese and watery tomato sauce, barely any meat. The dessert worse still. It was advertised as 'Homemade semifreddo with praline and a hot dark chocolate sauce.' What turned up was a tasteless lump of semi frozen cream, a few chopped nuts sprinkled over it and chocolate sauce out of a bottle poured over the top! How do I know it was out of a bottle? After 3 disappointing spoonfuls and having left the rest (I don't like the synthetic overly sweet sauce out of a bottle) it stayed liquid. If it had been an authentic chocolate sauce it would have solidified, it didn't. So please don't order this thinking you will get a genuine 'hot dark chocolate sauce' because you won't. If you like Mr Whippys choc sauce, have at it! Thankfully the company I was with more than made up for it!
