Al Molo Dorchester in West Dorset

Wonderful evening, service was so friendly and absolutely excellent, and the food was gorgeous. The brilliant bonus was the welcome for our dogs...such a treat to find beautiful food in a dog friendly place!

Great food at extremely reasonable prices

Visited by chance on a wet Wednesday and so glad we chose Al Molo. Restaurant was busy but staff were excellent, very friendly and attentive and despite being rush off their feet always available when needed. Food was fabulous and when we visit Dorchester again will definitely be back.

We took no photos of the food but my god the food looks as good as it tastes, possibly the best restaurant in the area with such amazing staff.

The food was outstanding and service very good. It was for an anniversary and they made sure we had the table requested. Nice atmosphere in a historic building, so altogether a wonderful evening.

A few months ago I discovered this gem and have kept going back since! I've since had a birthday lunch here and many spontaneous lunches. And I've never been disappointed! The staff are attentive, well mannered and knowledgeable! (Especially kayley) The wine list has a good range of quality, from humble to higher end. The food here is just magnificent, I've tried nearly everything on the lunchtime À la carte Menu! It's clear the chef excels when it comes to pasta and sea food. To conclude I'd say this restaurant is great for anyone seeking an authentic dining experience. I'd put this in my top 3 places to eat out in the Weymouth/Dorchester area. Our hosts at Pump Cottage recommended this restaurant for dinner, and it did not disappoint. Fine dining at it’s best with a creative and delicious range of dishes. We had a family dinner here. Food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive. Everything was very nicely judged. Excellent local restaurant. I read a review that criticised the decor. The decor puts me in mind of old fashioned family-run French restaurants that I’ve been to: it’s full of character.

Beautiful food had 3 courses and all were beautiful, service was well paced and not fast so you get to enjoy the dishes . Steak was more than an 8oz fillet and my wife’s seafood linguine was in her words divine. Waiters were lovely and honoured to meet one of the chefs . Thank you

This place is remarkable. I honestly feel like I have to leave a review because I had a private room booking for party of 7 (engagement celebration). The team took care of us extremely well and I want to give special honour to our hostess Verity, so sweet, so patient, clear in her communication- 5 stars for her. The food was gorgeous and pretty affordable in my opinion . Some portions were small but I understand that it is more on fine dining side. The only critique I would give is about some cleaning aspects in which the rooms had like old cobwebs, spider webs on the windows, just could use a deep clean.

The 3 of us ended the evening wondering why we hadn’t been before! Delicious 3 course meal without fault. Excellent service, especially from Harley, who was attentive and cheerful, with a keen eye for detail. Our daughter was visiting from Stockholm and was so pleased that we finally have somewhere to go for THAT special meal in Dorchester! Well done all involved.

So happy we discovered this restaurant! We were a large, multi-generational family group celebrating my parents’ joint birthday & anniversary & the staff were so accommodating. The food was absolutely sensational, everyone was very happy & I just wish we were staying in the area long enough to visit again! I had the Broccoli Gnocchi filled with Brie, in pic below. We recently had a wonderful meal here and cannot recommend it highly enough. We had a 1815hrs booking, midweek, and were the first ones sat. A lovely setting, the service throughout was exceptional. The poor waitress has hayfever but that didn't deter her helpful nature, making us feel welcomed, recommending wines and being a all round good person. The food was delicious - monkfish and king prawns , fresh and divine! We were rushed (our own doing - we had a show to go) otherwise we would have stayed a lot longer. Will return.

The family and I went here recently to celebrate an anniversary. We booked an early reservation as the boys like to eat early. On arrival (and throughout) the staff were very friendly. The the food was lovely, and portions ample. They boys are normally picky eaters, but loved their pasta. We sampled a lot of the dishes and they were all very well presented and tasted as good as they looked. I would highly recommend a visit, for any occasion. We will be back.

Lovely experience at Al Molo. Service was friendly and discreet, the food was imaginative, well presented and very tasty indeed. My only quibble, and it's a small one, would be a plea for a little more vegetarian /vegan choice. That being said, the vegetarian food I ate was very good

We tried the Taster Menu and to be honest couldnt fault anything..restaurant quite busy as a Friday evening so were impressed the Chef managed our Taster Menu as well..well presented and tasty..we would highly recommend a visit, we will definately be returning. Its up there in dining experiences. Italian themed, with Fab food, fab service and all in a unique, traditional, historic building. You pay a slightly higher price, but the quality of your visit justifys the cost. Wide selection of seafood and non seafood dishes on the menu, for all courses. The only negative to prevent 5 stars are the gents conveniences in the basement. Practical and clean but the tiny cramped conveniences doesn't fit the venue. You don't spend much time in there but it would benefit from a decent upgrade.

Second visit to this amazing restaurant. Had a week away staying just outside Dorchester . We visited last year after reading rave reviews on Tripadvisor. Lovely starters and I had the fillet steak with truffle chips , it was by far the best fillet steak I’ve had in years . Cooked to perfection . One of the chefs actually walked past and I complemented him personally . Lovely venue , great staff , a warm welcome and amazing food . They should be very proud of their set up . We will be back . My husband and I visited last Sunday night (14 Jan 2024) and wanted to let you know what a fantastic evening we had. The food was absolutely delicious, the menu exciting (so nice to see such a variety of fish choices, as I'm a pescatarian), all so freshly cooked and carefully presented. The staff were delightful and attentive (without being overly so, despite being such a quiet night). Good wine list too with plenty to choose from in your 'by the glass' selection. If we're ever visiting Dorchester again we will surely pay you another visit. And we'll spread the word too! Thank you again for your excellent food and service. Highly recommended

It was a quiet midweek January evening, but we enjoyed the ambience of the lovely building. Food interesting and good quality. Expert, friendly service. Recommended.

My sister and I treated ourselves to a dinner out just before Christmas - and what a treat it was! We had the chicken and prawn roulade and the smoked mackerel, both were delicious. We both had the linguine seafood - absolutely delicious and a very generous amount of seafood. We had no room for dessert, but finished with a perfectly made espresso martini. Went for dinner just before Christmas - lovely atmosphere, and the service was excellent. We had a starter each and shared (personal favourite was mackerel!) And both had seafood linguine for main. It came in a big dish to share which was great as we could both get more or our favourite bits. Too full for dessert, so had an espresso martini instead. All in all a lovely evening, and I would recommend Al Molo to anyone!

Fantastic service, really can't praise it enough. My partner and I had monkfish and duck. Everything was good but 4 stars instead of 5 because the duck was on the tough side, and for the price, we expected it to cut like butter. Otherwise, everything was lovely.

Had dinner here for my Dad's birthday last weekend. The menu was great, the service was very friendly and attentive, and it seemed like the staff enjoyed working there (which I think is a good indicator of a decent business!)
