The Galley Cafe - Lyme Regis in West Dorset

Warm welcome for us and our spaniels, polite, friendly chap took us to a table. We chose a medium breakfast, ( sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomato and beans with two toast and butter) a BLT sandwich (which was huge) and two teas. Everything arrived quickly, everything was tasty and plenty of it. The chap came across to check that all was OK, and it was. The bill was about £25 which for what we had, was good value. This was our second visit, we will certainly be back for a third.

Very Random cafe. Immediately fell in love with it, great board themed decor (surf & skate (probably, over 50 something commenting here)). Really nice atmosphere & absolutely great cake, walnut & carrot - solid 9/10, Lemon drizzle - moist & lemony & flavour all the way through. Cake sizes make Costa cakes look like kids portions....Flat white 9/10, skinny latte 9/10, staff super helpful & knew about their cakes. Atmosphere was busy but chilled and sofa was super comfy. Would definitely come again. Give them a go.

Every time I visit Lyme Regis I make a point of visiting. Lovely range of coffee and teas. Baked goods and range of snacks. Staff Friendly.

Really friendly place with lovely tea and scone. The staff were super friendly and very nice to kids. The place is spacious and comfortably sit our group of 7 people. The atmosphere is amzing with exciting music flowing out of the kitchen. I would definitely go back for hot drinks when the sea breeze is cold.

Used to be really good, but been in a few times recently and found the food has become very average. It's by no means bad it just lacks that special something that you pay for by eating out. Staff remain super friendly and helpful though.

Love it here. Always great service. Great selection of food and always something a little bit different. Some of the best cornish pasties outside of Cornwall.

This is our favourite place in Lyme for coffee & cake or occasionally lunch but I’ve never reviewed it. Don’t know why. Sorry! Today we’d had lunch down the road at the Lyme Bay Cafe where the food was good but the service was awful. Wish we’d come to you for everything. As it was we had coffee and the most delicious cake we’ve had in ages. Guinness cake with a creamy top. Unbelievably good. The service was as happy and smiley as ever. Thank you!

Probably the best fry up in Lyme Regis Great pasties too The best bit is that they serve breakfast till 3 pm.

We went to the Galley Cafe today for lunch and the food was amazing. Lovely staff, great atmosphere- definitely worth a visit and we will be going back. My partner said it was the best poached eggs he has ever had at a cafe!

It is my first time to this cafe! I, thoroughly, enjoyed it. The welcoming faces made it for me. The good and drink were great, but it’s the smiles on the staff that made my visit perfect! I’m from New Brunswick Canada ☺️

Great coffee. Great food. Service can be a bit hit and miss, so sometimes you need to be patient.

Popped into The Galley for the first time whilst staying locally for half term. My husband and I were greeted warmly and we had the choice of several different tables. The staff were absolutely superb! Friendly, efficient, nothing was too much trouble! The food was delicious, hot and came quickly. We enjoyed the ambiance and cannot recommend this place highly enough! We will definitely return next time we're in the area.

Pastries were good but sadly a little dry (10:30am - didn’t taste fresh that morning?). They use Brazier coffee roasters which is excellent

NOT DOG FRIENDLY, asked to leave by staff as dog got anxious and was barking. I had to deal with bad news. Then they charged us for untouched tea and coffee with no offer of converting to take away. Other customers not friendly either IT FACT EXTREMELY RUDE.

Really good coffee and lovely friendly staff. Stopped on my way back up the hill to where I was staying on my last day, wish I'd found it earlier in the week, I would have come for breakfast.

Youthful staff are well intentioned but under trained. Some obvious short cuts in the kitchen disappointed us at this price. Wash the lettuce!

Slow service despite many staff. Salad leaves inedibly gritty. There was no apology when this was pointed out. Cold, watery, pre-sliced pieces of chicken in the salad. Gave them to the dog.

Great little quirky café. Very friendly staff and dog friendly as well which was great as it was on and off showers the day we went. The coffee and hot chocolate were great and very hot, which is not always the case in lots of cafés. We had some lovely cakes but the food looked good as well. Very generous slices as well.

This is a fabulous little breakfast / lunch cafe in the very heart of Lyme Regis. Very reasonable pricing for good quality food and drink. Definitely recommend as an informal eatery.

Keep the locals happy: I had an excellent good value Full English (Montgomery). Unfortunately, my wife's two poached eggs on non descript toast spread with marge (cheap tasting) wasn't so great. Served on sour dough toast with the advacado "smashed" ie mixed with some lime juice and coriander would have made it worth £12!

Come here if you want screaming kids and barking dogs. Other than that the staff were attentive and the food was excellent. Not a relaxing visit for us.

My wife and I went in for breakfast last week and really loved the interior; the staff were really friendly and extremely welcoming. I had the Full Montgomery and my wife had the Small Montgomery, both were excellent, as were the tea and coffee. I told the waiter that I thought it was the best Full English I’d ever had (credit where credit is due!) and he went and told the owner, who came out to say thank you and to have a chat. He was a really nice guy and told us that the ingredients were all locally sourced, so he could guarantee the quality. My wife and I subsequently went back twice more during the week we were in Lyme! Highly recommended!

Disappointing, not been here for a while, service was very slow and the pasty had clearly been in the oven for too long. There is lots of competition I will try some where else next time we are in Lyme.

Nice quiet stop for us after a walk along the tourist-y beach. Lovely cakes, but it lacked ambiance, and the staff were tired from a long day of working hard.

Dropped in to this cafe near closing on a Sunday afternoon. We asked if they were still serving which they were. My wife and I had a cream tea each and it was delicious! Spot on to the gentleman who made them and to the two ladies who were working. Very happy to serve us and very helpful 👍 Very much enjoyed our visit today, thank you again to all the staff it was a pleasure.

Absolute gem. We had a lovely breakfast. I had the full Montgomery and husband had the sausage bap. Really impressive menu. Beautifully decorated inside and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. We then returned later in the day and bought pasties which were also yummy. Put it this way, we're going back there again tomorrow.

What a gem in Lyme Regis. We had a pasty with salad & chutney absolutely delicious and served by very cheerful & friendly staff.

Called in today for our first visit, and the place didn't disappoint, really friendly staff, happy to interact with customers, place is a funky surf paradise with relaxed atmosphere. Good value for money, and will be returning.......

Unfortunately the place was disgusting. Spoons had tea stains on them. Dirty tables. Very grubby place, wipe your feet on the way out

Dropped in for breakfast on the last day of our long weekend in the area.. this place has a great vibe as soon as you open the door. Great breakfast & fabulous service, dog friendly too!

This is a great cafe. The fish chowder is lovely and have had the all day breakfast a couple of times which is also great. Love the everything to do with the sea vibe and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Dog friendly, we had two coffees and lovely homemade carrot cake, the cake was so nice I got a takeaway portion for the next day, Very helpful and friendly staff

From stepping in the door to leaving the service was fantastic. I had the French toast with bacon and maple - amazing. Wife had poached eggs on toast, just wonderful. Latte to drink, one with vanilla, one with salted caramel - both hit the spot just right.

Highly recommend! Mum and Dad to two boys age 10 and 6, we are really impressed with The Galley Cafe. Good food, lovely atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, interesting decorations to look at. Love that a one egg omelette (which came with slices of carrott, cucumber and tomato) was on the menu along with things like beans on toast - perfect for hungry 6 year olds who don't need anything fancy. No photos as ate food before thinking about it. We'll be back!

Went in early doors for a sausage and bacon bap. Cute rolls and tasty (I like my bacon well cooked, so thank you!) Both agreed it was the best roll we'd had in a while. Friendly staff too.

I come to the galley often. It is, in my opinion, thr best cafe in Lyme Regis. The staff are super friendly and the coffee is great. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere in the place is war and welcoming. It's is almost always busy and for good reason. I will continue visiting the galley for the foreseeable future.

Been here twice over the last 2 months, and enjoyed both occasions. Relaxed but friendly and attentive service. Dog friendly too. We will return.

We went to Lyme Regis for a bimble about and opted for lunch in the very nice looking Galley Cafe as the window was full of tasty looking treats and snacks. we were shown to a table in the narrow but well presented cafe by a happy, smiling waitress and left to peruse the menu's. The mostly music & skateboard based artwork adorning the walls was very pleasing on the eye, creating a laid back atmosphere. I opted for the Eggs Halloumi which consisted of, a lovely muffin, halved, then several thick slices of halloumi cheese, two delicious runny poached eggs, all topped with a velvety hollandaise sauce. It was truly divine. My wife had the vegan breakfast which included: fried onion, hummus, red peppers, tomatoes, avocado, beans & toast. She thoroughly enjoyed it and was full after eating it. However we did order two pieces of Guinness chocolate cake which we ate later in the day and it too, was very tasty! I can't recommend the Galley Cafe enough. Well run, well priced and very delicious.

A quirky pirate themed cafe. The breakfast is great quality, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is fun! It’s a lot bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside.

We finished our coffees and sat watching and waiting as old customers left and new customers arrived, getting their breakfasts served. Meanwhile ours never turned up. In the end we just got some pasties from up the road.

Good for drinks but after 40 mins gave up on the breakfast and went next door. Over priced and staff more interested in larking about than serving. Kitchen baking products for next day instead of filling orders for today

A lovely little cafe, comprehensive menu, excellent choices for both vegetarians and vegans with some interesting unusual breakfast items. My partner had the chocolate and Guinness cake- enormous portion and declared delicious. I had the hummus and roast red pepper on a freshly baked baguette, bread was still warm and it was stuffed full of delicious garlic rich filling- excellent. Service was lovely, informative, professional and friendly. Place very clean, tables cleared and wiped constantly. We will be regular visitors whenever we are in Lyme Regis

Nice spot for a warm drink and bite to eat when we were escaping the wet. Service was friendly and quick. Nice quirky decor was very much appreciated by the kids.

A slightly hippy place with assorted seating. Very busy for October, but cleared by 2pm. Had a really nice pastie and pickle, but I would not have minded having the table wiped clean.

Gem of a place in the middle of Lyme with a friendly, laid back atmosphere. Dog friendly too. The bacon baps are amongst the best I've ever had. Coffee is really good and the dog sausage went down very well . Haven't tried anything else yet but it all looks good.

Fabulous breakfast of kippers and poached eggs at the Galley. Superbly cooked with great service from Kath and Jordan. Definitely coming back for more!

This cafe has a cool surfer vibe and decor, but plenty of people as old as us were happily eating there! They had friendly, helpful staff and the service was quick. We enjoyed a filling and delicious breafast, with a very decent pot of tea.

We had breakfast there, although not vegetarian, we had the vegetarian breakfast. Egg, toast, tomato avocado pepper, and freshly made humous and a mug of tea. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Nice vintage feel to the decor and great atmosphere. Doesn't look much outside, but don't be put off.

Amazing food and wonderful staff. Went out of their way to help and make everyone comfortable. Even our dog got a fuss.

What a choice we pass all most miss the galley went on to have the best food and service of our holiday and staff so hands on,a must for the best.

We stayed 4 days in Lyme and had a different pasty each day. They were absolutely delicious. My personal favourite was the Moroccan lamb. We also tried the gorgeous brownies and carrot cake. This shop is amazing.

Thought we'd go here for breakfast as the menu looked good online. Food was ok and service was ok. Was asked to sit down at a table at the back (which were messy) and advised that someone would come and take our order. Staff kept walking past but no one cleared the table or took our order. Had to ask someone to do both. And then also had to ask a member of staff to clean the table as there was food remains on it. Food was ok, but the coffee that I desperately needed was a disappointment.

Not worth the money unfriendly staff seem like customers were an inconvenience . Dirty disgusting shared toilet would not have eaten here if had seen the bad cleanliness first
