Great little cafe. Excellent food . Definitely worth a visit if you can squeeze in

Nice coffee!. Haven't tried the food but it looks good. Always seems to be busy which in an area where there is lots of competition, is a good sign!!.

What a little jewel!! It a lovely, cozy epitome of a provincial town cafe cum tearoom. It is a little compact inside but that's largely down to the building it resides in and in no way detracts from the experience, however because of its size it does fill up very quickly at peak times. The menu is very extensive with more than enough to tempt any appetite, it's more light lunches and things of that ilk rather than blowout banquets, and the quality of the food was exemplary, more than enough of everything and very well cooked and presented, and the biggest bonus in this day and age, very affordable too! We will be going back again when we're next in town, but a wee word of advice, if you want a table for lunchtime, do as we did and book in advance!!

Visited on the way to a long drive to Longleat. We ordered a vegan breakfast and avocado, feta and tomato on toast. Wait time was an hour. The vegan breakfast was extremely poor, no avocado as menu states. No seasoning on the tomatoes or mushrooms. I also don’t believe the sausages provided were vegan. Avocado, Tomato and Feta on Toast Awful quality bread and again no seasoning so quite tasteless Extremely disappointing and overpriced.

Lovely food, generous servings, great quality, and sensibly priced. Staff were lovely and friendly and couldn't do more for us, will definitely be coming back!

The cutlery/cups both came out very stained and dirty. Service was ok but pretty nonchalant and the waitress charged us more than she told us it would cost. The Three Wishes next door is much better.

Had a delicious lunch sitting outside with friends... super attentive and charming team, good choice, easy going atmosphere and good coffee (smooth not citrus). Checked out the others nearby, except the usual high street brands and this is a great spot, location and so chose it. Recommended.

Friendly little cafe in the town centre serving a basic range of lunch and cakes. All freshly prepared. Our party had the coronation quiche which was interesting, an omelette and a quiche Lorraine with extra chips on the side. The smoothies are good and properly made for you. Prices are very reasonable.

Nice, but I did find the food very expensive for what it was. Interior decor is a little dated, and it was quite busy when I went in so was rather cramped with not much privacy as you could hear all other tables' conversations, and they could hear yours. Staff were all very pleasant however, and the food and drink was tasty. If I'm being honest, I wouldn't rush back again, but I think they still deserve a good 4 stars out of 5 as that's down to my personal opinion and it not being as much my cup of tea as some of the other local cafes. For others I'm sure it would be a perfect spot for a daily bite to eat and drink

We ended up in this cafe by accident as we were too exhausted to notice, but we didn't regret it. Our table was a bit small but the service was good and the breakfast was most welcome.

we did the artisan market in town, popped in and out for much needed coffee, girls delivered to our stall, great service, polite efficient, can't fault it.

Visited the beautiful town of Sherwood and stopped for a break at Kafe Dontana. Really lovely ovely coffee and cake coupled with very friendly staff. Recommended

We had breakfast this morning at Kafe Fontana and the Full English vegetarian Breakfast was sooo good. Porridge was excellent and pancakes, delicious. Thanks again for the best meal we had in our vacation yet.

These people are true legends. Walked up from the pageant gardens today as there was no gluten free food in the park. I couldn't believe it. Not even a drinks tent. As in, no tea or coffee either. Anyway, these lovely people did gluten free sandwiches. I went back for drinks with soya milk. They went beyond the extra mile. And the lady with the glasses and the Eastern European accent is definitely a keeper. Well done guys and gals. Keep up the good work x☘️😁

We recently used Kafe Fontana to cater for my mother in law’s memorial service in Charlton Horethorne. Beautiful platters of sandwiches, scones, cakes and macaroons in plentiful supply. Tina did a wonderful job

Nice little Indi cafe. Latte was excellent.

Used this cafe as the usual one I go to was not open at 9.00am (Three Wishes). Friendly service and I got tea within a few minutes. This is when things started to go wrong. Tea was cold and I had to return it for replacement. Water heater not switched on apparently. There is a sign stating that they don’t do fast food and that it is prepped properly. The issue was that my full English took over 50 minutes to cook and a gent who arrived 20 minutes after me got his breakfast before me. The poached eggs were basically the yolks only and the bacon was so crispy it snapped. Such a shame but I will be continuing to use the cafe next door.

Lovely friendly cafe, good selection on meals and snack available. My daughter is a vegetarian but she found lots to choose from Staff very friendly and was given a loyalty card for drinks.

We stopped here as it was raining and they allowed us to take our dog inside. We had 2 coffee's ( regular, but they were small) and 2 slices of cake. The cake was ok but not worth the £12.60 price tag. The service was good.

The food was good... My disappointment was that menus were being shared around tables without being sanitised and it was actually Staff doing this and not the customers. Had the place not have done this I would score higher.. In fairness 3 is a good score for the good things it does . Covid has not gone away.

We stopped to have breakfast there .The waitress gave us a wonderful service,the best she could under the circumstances. However the sausages were over cooked ,Bacon burnt ,eggs greasy and slimy and full of fat ,Toast was made with mouldy bread.Will never return ,paid full price with no apology given.

Good place for a quick stop. Light meals etc in a clean and friendly environment, right in town centre. A small cafe, but has a unisex toilet and offers gluten free cakes and sandwiches etc. A nice surprise was the gluten free choc/caramel slice. Iced coffee good too.

Wowzers what a fab find! A beautiful little cafe along the high street, tables & seating outside also available on the pavement, which we took great advantage of in the lovely weather. Wonderfully attentive staff, table service, covid safe (for those who are wondering) and omg the food was just delicious! Our first visit we both had the Fontana special club sandwich! So tasty and plenty of it! Our second visit another Fontana special, a tuna & Mayo toasted sandwich and egg Mayo and bacon toasted sandwich! All delicious. Just cannot fault this place! It’s a must for a visit and a delicious bite to eat.

Don't go to this cafe if you are mask exempt, or like sugar in your coffee. Went yesterday. Was rudely spoken to and ordered outside immediately. When coffee was brought to table, it was dumped down without a word. There was no sugar. When I went back in to pay was rudely ordered out again. Not nice on first day of opening up after lockdown. Lived near Sherborne for over 20 years. Olivers and the three wishes offer friendlier service.

This was my first venture eating out since I was diagnosed with Coeliac disease and was rather apprehensive, however the menu listed gluten-free bread as an option and I duly ordered a club sandwich. I was a little surprised when it arrived toasted, which was described as could be done "on request" and I had not requested this, only that the bread was gluten-free. It was accompanied by crisps, which had not been in the description and so I checked with the ladies and they confirmed that the crisps were gluten-free. I suffered no ill effects after my meal and so conclude that the bread was indeed gluten-free and my fears that it might not be after the sandwich had been toasted were ill founded. The ladies were very friendly and helpful and the place very clean and tidy (I noted them cleaning surfaces etc after other customers left, in line with COVID recommendations).If ever I am passing Sherborne again I would not hesitate to eat here again.

Just wanted to give this little place a shout. Dog friendly and cosy. We first had a tea and coffee and returned later for lunch. The egg mayo sandwich and the avocado & prawn Marie Rose in a warm baguette, selected from several choices, were both excellently fresh and tasty. The cafe is licensed too. An altogether pleasant place.

Perfect place to sit and watch the world go by alongside Sherborne's market square. The coffee is great, the food is lovely, the service is charming and the prices are forgiving. Ideal.

What a great spot for a quick lunch. A couple of baked potatoes, toasted cheese and a salmon bagel along with some smoothies all went down well. Service with a smile.

We visited on a Sunday lunch time and although we had a 30 minute wait it was well worth it.Ordered a baguette and a sandwich. My sandwich was crispy bacon and egg mayo with fresh egg mayo hence the wait I think,my partners baguette was blue cheese and ham with onion marmalade.We will be back as it's the best lunch time food we have tasted in a long time.

Had take-away breakfast butties this morning, lovely and fresh, bread and fillings very tasty. Not expensive, very good value. Cakes on display looked good. Will definitely be returning.

How refreshing to visit a coffee shop where the customers are treated as adults. In this post lock down time this venue is trying to return to normal working conditions. Good for them . Excellent service,value, quality of food, makes this a top top place to visit.

Went as a party of four. Having never been to the town before to eat here was a random choice, very happy we did. I had a scotch egg with salad, another had the sausage roll with salad whilst two of us had sandwiches. The food consisted of high quality ingredients combining to produce extremely tasty fare. Everything arrived together and hot, food presentation was good. Young, efficient smiley staff made this visit a very enjoyable experience. Not cheap but worth every penny. We will be back when summer comes.

Been in recently with my husband. Although small cafe, it is very quirky. In nice decorative order. Friendly and welcoming staff. I enjoyed my visit and will return again.

Traditionally, I cook this meal; scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, for breakfast on Boxing Day. Occasionally, I’ll treat myself to it for breakfast while away, but invariably am disappointed; the eggs ruined by whomever cooking them via the steam spigot on a stills machine, or worse! The point is they end up looking like yellow broccoli florets; lumpy and dry. However, it’s all been worth it, for had I given up trying, I would never have experienced how delightfully they’re cooked at Kafe Fontana; superbe!

Just stopped for afternoon tea which was very satisfactory including nice cakes. Staff friendly and helpful.

Had a takeaway lunch from here featuring a vegetarian quiche, salad, and raspberry oatmeal bar. Everything was superb! The dressing for the salad was especially tasty. Will try to dine-in the restaurant during our stay. Well worth it to visit.

this was only second time i have visited the delightful cafe but it will not be my last ....had the italian platter ...wow the girls serving were a joy i cannot say enough about this little cafe ...it should be in kings rd chelsea

Myself and partner were visiting Sherborne for a couple of days as we explore potential places for a future house purchase.We popped into Kafe Fortunate for a quick lunch stop and were met with a smiling welcome. We shared a fish platter which was delicious and nothing was too much trouble.Definitely worth a visit and the cakes looked good!

The whole cafe was spotlessly clean and had staff which were most helpful and obliging. The egg mayonnaise & crispy bacon sandwiches in brown bread were very good. Sitting in the front window it was relaxing and interesting to ‘people watch’ the road outside. It was a pleasure to listen to popular classical music, such as Elgar and Strauss, which suited the surroundings and provided even more ambience.

Arived early in Sherborne for a haircut appointment, and so killed half an hour over brekky. Pretty good brekky to be honest. Super service from the chap in charge. Very good coffee and OJ. Not exactly cheap, but far from extortionate. It also opens half an hour earlier than the 3 Wishes next door.

Always make a beeline for this welcoming Cafe. lovely choice of Cake's etc. Great for Bacon and Sausage Sarnie's . We often have light lunches here. Very good quality, and value. Excellent reasonably price Wines, £13.50 for a bottle, not to be missed. Always busy, staff and owner make you feel welcome. Not to be missed.

Found near the bottom of Cheap Street in Sherborne (a couple of doors down from Abbey Bookshop). First time in Kafe Fontana and will not be my last. Small cafe with outside seating too. Nice relaxing atmosphere inside and pleasant attentive staff. Vases of fresh flowers on the tables - nice touch.

This super little cafe in Sherborne today offered three different, equally delicious g free cakes and not a chocolate brownie or a plastic wrapped cake in sight! National Trust take note that it can be very well done! The rest of the menu had a really good choice of meals and snacks for people eating habits free. I hadon't the chocolate torte warmed up with clotted cream and redbush tea. My idea of heaven.

Looking for a cafe which was not in a chain. I decided to try this small venue. I was not disappointed. Service was good and coffee also. It seemed popular, I was only there for a short while but several people were hoping to come in but owing to it being full they were disappointed and had to go elsewhere.

Popped in here for lunch on a wet Tuesday. It is only small but cosy, fodd choice is very good, served quickly and the quality was excellent. Service was great too and prices reasonable. Will definitely go here again next time we are in Sherborne.

We have lived in and around Sherborne for the last nine years and whenever we fancy a light lunch this is our go-to cafe. The service is always friendly, the menu is extensive, varied and delicious (including very useful gluten free options) and the intimate, cosy environment always makes for a lovely experience. Thank you for providing such a warm welcome every time.

Needed a quick warm drink on a cold November day. Popped in for a coffee but ended up tempted by the afternoon cream tea, even though we were spoilt for choice with a good selection of what looked like home made cakes. If I lived nearer I would definitely become a regular, just to sample the baked goods! Tea was well made as well. If I was with a female friend on a warmer day, I would definitely choose the glass of prosecco option! Good idea!
