The best restaurants in West Dorset South West

Visit this for a take away after looking at the ranges of take aways close to where we were staying and was not disappointed, lots of different choices to choose from and the food was amazing very filling would definitely return if we came back to Lyme

Popped in at opening at 12pm after a walk and sat in the bar in front of the beautiful inglenook fire. Palmers beer was fabulous as ever , the welcome was warm but then the bar food came out - SO good! We had crispy lamb ribs , gorgeous green veg with a herb sauce and the best home made chips with sea salt ! Loved it !

We had some of the best fish and chips from S & E we've ever had when we stayed in West Bay 2 years ago, so were prepared to wait the 40 minutes it took to be served. We were unsure why it took so long: there were long periods when no-one moved at all. We wish we hadn't done so, as the chips were not nice to eat (they looked grey, were not crisp, and tasted "earthy") and the batter on the plaice was hard and very thick. The only good thing was the plaice itself. That's why I gave more than 1 star. Will we bother to queue again when there is so much competition within a few yards? Very unlikely.

Some really mixed reviews on here. We were recommended this as a take away by the host of our rental property. It didn’t disappoint. It’s a decent fish n chippy. Tasty fish served piping hot, good chips. Only quibble was the vinegar served from a plant sprayer. It doesn’t work!

The cream tea was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed as was the toasted tea cake. It was really good tea too Very genial host and hostess.🌞

The best garden cafe in the area. Always a delight to visit. Had a splendid Mothers Day lunch-such tasty food and good service. Will be back soon!

Back here after a few years & we were delighted to find it as wonderful as ever. Lovely service in a delightful setting, with excellent food & a good wine list. Absolutely faultless & we can’t wait to visit again!

Lovely local pub. The food was traditional, good portion sizes and really tasty! Amazed at the prices of the food, really reasonable. Loads of different choices and good variety of ales,larger etc. Will definitely come back!

We recently had a gorgeous brekkie by the beach at Toms, but this weekend im so happy we ventured inside as I didn't know it had so much more to offer inside! I had an exceptional Margarita cocktail, and my fiancé had a whisky served with its own glass of ice and tongs. The venue’s attention to detail is evident everywhere—from the crisp white napkins and stunning wine glasses to the thoughtfully curated menu. We've already enjoyed an amazing breakfast here, and I cannot wait to get dolled up and come back to check out the evening food and vibe. The staff and owners are really friendly and know what they are doing, you just feel part of something special. Elegant dining with the best views.

Tried again, as we love Asian food, cocktails were so slow, but assume because of orders and lack of bar staff. Food was ok, although my noodles wasn’t warm, let alone hot. The menu is very very small, we feel the other restaurant on west street offers more choice, Rhangtang.

Great menu and food was really nice. Good selection of beers and staff were brilliant. Really nice atmosphere, will definitely come again.
