Wowwwwww what can I say the food here is fantastic the staff are really friendly and really helpful. I can personally recommend the beef and ale pie it tastes wonderful. My bulldog lovedthe attention too.

Went for Sunday dinner today and it was absolutely lovely. The food was outstanding and the gravy was extremely tasty. Staff were very friendly and we had a very pleasant afternoon. My main compliment is that I have booked a table for Thursday evening.

Hi, we recently spent a short weekend in Charmouth. The Royal oak is a great place to eat! The staff are very friendly and engaging! The menu is very good and the cider is very nice If you’re are staying in Charmouth, I’d advise booking a table before you arrive! It’s quite a small pub but worth visiting! 👍🏻❤️❤️❤️

A group of eight of us went for a meal , the food was excellent as was the service . The prices were very reasonable and I would not hesitate to to recommend the pub, we had a great evening

What a lovely pub, oldie world, friendly, welcoming and good selection of drinks. We didnt eat but the menu looked every good. Only downside, its a bit of a steep up hill walk.

Had a great family meal on a Monday evening. Pub was heaving but the staff were very friendly and professional. A good selection of beers to cater for everyone. I had the half chicken. It was fantastic. Can't remember what everyone else had but they enjoyed it. Went back for a lunchtime pint on Saturday. Could have stayed all day. Friendly locals. Nice pub.

What coeliacs dream about!! A place where you can go, eat and socialise with family and friends and eat safely and be taken seriously as a coeliac. I went on my birthday and both the gluten free menu and the original Menu had such an array of choice, sourced from local produce aswell. Great service - such friendly and attentive staff. Beautiful location, quaint and well looked after premises with the bonus of being dog friendly as well. For those who are not massive four legged friends there is a separate area for dining where dogs are NOT allowed. When we went it was busy but this didn’t distract or dampen the service, the food for the whole family was amazing (Im the only gluten free one), well presented and the portion size was perfect. Great specials board aswell. I can’t shout about this pub enough, for those questioning going - go, for those gluten free / coeliac folk - this is a place to trust, you will be looked after. Can’t wait to go back again.

What a fab pub, super friendly staff and probably one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve ever had. Pork so tender you hardly needed a knife and crispy crackling that didn’t break your teeth.

Staying in Charmouth for the weekend, booked a table here for Friday evening. Wanted to order the crab, but the sold out. The lady who works there was very apologetic and we said might come back the next night. She said she’d try to save us a portion if we did Amazingly, she actually made the effort to find my phone number from the previous booking, and to call us the next day, as they hadn’t had many delivered, to see if we still wanted it and to make sure she kept some for us. We have been coming here since we purchase a holiday home in Charmouth, what a find ! Dinner ,Sunday lunch ,or just a drink to while away the time you can not go wrong with The Royal Oak. The staff are amazing, friendly and helpful, the food is just amazing, Good choices for all.tastes including vegan and wonderful seasonal specials. The Malaysian fish curry this evening was to die for,,, Make sure to visit if you are in or around Charmouth . plus dogs are very welcome and have their own treat jar on the fire place . We’d previously been here in 1998 again for our Wedding Anniversary & fancied trying it once more. Can’t remember anything about our previous visit other than not having pudding as we’d left our tiny baby with friends we’d come on holiday with. Tonight the food, service & beer was excellent. We both had fish which delicious & shared the Banoffee Waffle

Visited The Royal Oak for Easter Sunday lunch as a family of 6. Everyone in the party was really pleased with their lunch from start to finish. We left very full of incredibly delicious food. Atmosphere was great and a really friendly pub; perfect for a range of ages. Price was reasonable, especially considering the quality and that it was Easter Sunday. I would highly recommend this place to anybody, just make sure you book ahead as they do get busy.

Me and my partner booked in for dinner. I had the steak pie whilst my partner had the black bream. The food was beautiful and there was plenty of it. We finished our dinner by sharing a chocolate brownie. Co landlord Chloe was our exceptional hostess for the night, whilst her husband Tom was the person responsible for the food coming out the kitchen. We had the very bubbly and jovial bar staff of Jason and Lia, who were at hand to pour the drinks with a smile, whilst the youngsters Freddie and Ellis were busy helping behind the scenes. We both thoroughly enjoyed our night, and cannot recommend the food more. A place not to be missed.

We were a party of two that had booked a small table for a special occasion at 6pm. They had a contact number. However, when we arrived our table had been given to a party for 7pm. We were put at a table by the toilets in a noisy corner. We stayed for a drink but could not tolerate the noise. One member of staff said they needed our table as a large party was due later, a frosty retort no attempt to call us. We would have arrived earlier -

After visiting Charmouth last August we went to The Royal Oak for dinner. The staff managed to get us a table (even though the place was fully booked) we were welcomed in and the whole experience was lovely, the food was amazing and we couldn't wait to come back. So, come back we did. I had read the reviews about the "amazing Sunday lunch". We booked a table for 2. After a long day at the beach we couldn't wait to fill our tummies! Unfortunately, the choice was limited. Loads of menu items had already gone, even though they only opened at 12. We understood though and proceeded to order. After waiting over 35 minutes, we got our food. My partner and I had the chicken roasts (the only roast meat option) . And even though we ate what we were given. It was disappointing to say the least. .. We found out after that the chefs were on holiday. Which explained alot. .. The staff were amazing and very accomidating. Hopefully when we come again the experience will be better.

Ate here two nights and other than the company it was amazing. I was here with my wife and she is a fussy eater and even she was impressed which is a rare thing these days. Absolutely loved the food and would highly recommend.

Just average. Starter to share no plates just a bowl of food. Main course fish & chips, burnt onions pieces on the fish clearly from the fryer. If you are in Charmouth on a weekday in November there isn’t much choice so very limited options. I’m sure with some more attention to detail the Royal Oak could be good.

We stopped into The Royal Oak for lunch before heading to the beach. It has a lovely relaxed traditional village pub vibe and great food. The person behind the bar was really helpful and we spent a blissful hour or so, soaking up the atmosphere. We were really impressed with the food, especially the vegetarian 'fish and chips', which was fantastic! I would thoroughly recommend The Royal Oak for lunch, or just a beer, before heading off for some fossil hunting!

Just a big thanks for a superb Sunday lunch last weekend - we were a fossil hunting team of 4 adults and 2 little experts - the food and service was great and we will definitely be back sometime.

What a fantastic and friendly pub! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and very comfortable! The food was incredible and we couldn’t fault the staff, who couldn’t do enough for us and our cheeky, noisy little two and a half year old and our black Labrador! The staff even made a bespoke garlic mayo for us and adapted the child’s menu for our daughter. All of our meals were delicious and the dinosaur ice-cream was a big hit with our little Lottie! Anyone who comes to Charmouth needs to check out this outstanding pub x

Irritating. We arrived at 12 wanting an early lunch before a walk. We were told the food order had just arrived and so the food delayed… fair.. However, they then wouldn’t give out menus or take food orders in anything but the strict order that we arrived at the pub…(3rd) despite us being ready to order first! Not okay.

The food was absolutely fantastic, We had a roast dinner the meat just melted in your mouth and a great range of vegetables. Parsnips were cooked spot on. The home made Yorkshire’s were the best ( I never usually eat them) the staff are so friendly and welcoming nothing is to much trouble.
