Beautifully cooked cooked dress ingredients and a very warm atmosphere with really friendly service. Highly recommended!

As two vegans we are always sceptical of eating somewhere where fish and meat are in abundance on the menu. However, the Olive Tree had a couple of pasta dishes that were marked vegan so we thought we would try them. The waitress who took our order was extremely informative right from the off and instantly put our minds at rest as seemed very knowledgeable about what was vegan and what was not. We enjoyed an extremely tasty dish and also had vegan desserts which again were really enjoyable. The accompanying wine that was recommended really complimented the dishes and overall we were super impressed and would highly recommend eating here.

Absolutely amazing! My husband and I had the spectacular and my was it spectacular! The best seafood we have ever eaten and such great value for money. Our son had the full size carbonara and he said it was the best restaurant food he has ever tasted. We ended our meal off with a scrumptious raspberry cheescake, which was so fresh and creamy. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Such a lovely atmosphere has a homely feeling to it. Thank you we will visit again when we next in town.

Lovely food served to a high standard. Child friendly; dishes can be halved to accommodate child portions. Seafood linguine was delicious and had lots of prawns but the only negative was that there could have been a bit more pasta for the price of the main. Good selection of wine; we had an Italian red that was beautifully smooth. Would have been better to have at least one beer on draught considering that there is a great local brewery in the town (Palmers). Nice experience. Worth a visit.

Excellent overall - great staff, an excellent menu overall with wonderful fresh fish being particularly noteworthy, good and interesting wines all served efficiently and at extremely reasonable prices. We liked it so much the first night that we went back again the next night!

We went for my wife's birthday and after a recommendation we both ordered The Spectacular. The waitress recommended a bottle of white which I had never heard of before which we decided to try. The wine went perfectly with the dish of seafood and fish. We could not fault the superb meal and the suggested wine, the waitress was amazing very friendly and made us feel really at home. We even had a chat with the chef which completed one of most memorable evenings.

First time we been . Outstanding. Food excellent and a good choice of starters, mains, desserts and coffee. Best food we had for a long time and very value. Staff and chefs you couldn't better. The young lady we had , served us with such a lovely smile . We asked if she had worked there long and replied she had worked there since she was 15 and now is 22. She was so enthusiastic about the Oliver tree. We live in Wareham but will be returning often .

Visiting Bridport and had an evening meal at The Olive Tree. Finding a restaurant that ticks all the boxes is a rare treat, but The Olive Tree did just that. Welcoming, nice atmosphere, independent and above all delicious, locally sourced food. Such a great evening, we’ll be back. Thank you.

Ive been here now on several occasions. I have to say it’s consistently good. When you get a dish and dont want to finish it, you know it’s good. The menu is small, great and what’s more its bang on fresh. The chef knows how to cook fish and interestingly his sauce accompaniments are beautiful, original. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. No fuss, just good service. Dont hesitate to go, i make it my treat every time I go to Bridport. Well done.

We went to The Olive Tree last night, it was nice and busy and a good atmosphere. Very nice fish meals and good service but strangely three items on the bill were more than stated on the menu!

My wife's birthday. 6.30pm Sunday. We've booked and we are the first customers. The owner, we assume, says hello, checks our name and points to two window tables, telling us to help ourselves. He seems vaguely uninterested in us, as if he'd been hoping for Juliette Binoche to walk in, and indifferent to what we make of him. He makes no move to show us to our table or to take our coats, which we hang up ourselves, retracing our steps to the hooks by the door. It feels very odd to receive no sense of welcome. Happily, the food is delicious: tiger prawns in a tarragon sauce, followed by hake with a crab sauce for my wife and sea trout for me. The fish is beautifully cooked and the mixed vegetables are unusual and yummy - little chunks of turnip, which taste smoky and exotic, crisp snap peas, small circles of red pepper, strands of flavourful cabbage. For dessert, the crème brûlée is home-made and the chocolate torte is only disappointing because of its ordinariness and the lack of subtlety by comparison with the other dishes. The white and red wines we have by the glass are clean and fine. The bill is £112.00. And we leave with mixed feelings: the food has been a delight, but the lack of warmth on our arrival leaves us puzzled and regretful - hence the 3 stars.

So glad we ate here. I love seafood and I think their 'Seafood Supreme' was the best fish dish I've had: bowl of mussels, with 3 types of fish topped off with a giant prawn in a heavenly garlic cream sauce. My husband enjoyed his dish, and our toddler scoffed his half portion of mushroom risotto. From our table we could watch Simon and his young chef cooking which was great and kept me entertained all evening. The two ladies who were waiting tables were wonderful as well, Miranda was one and we didn't catch the other lady's name.

This place offers the best lunch and by far the best value for money in the area. We have been there for a two course lunch twice in the past couple of months and the standard was excellent both times. The staff are efficient and friendly and they leave it up to you to decide whether to tip (rather than adding an “optional” gratuity to the bill). What’s not to like?

We didn't have a reservation, but the staff accommodated us quickly. We didn't have much time, but the kitchen prioritised our table. We had 2 pepperoni pizzas and a carbonara. The staff was friendly and the food was really good. Like a suggestion, maybe the wine could be more colder. A nice meal out and exactly what we needed.

My partner and I visited this amazing restaurant on our last night staying in Bridport. The moment we walked in we knew there was something special about olive tree. The owner was very attentive and even gave us a talk on the different wines he had available from the menu. This is a family run business and the friendliness and professionalism eas top notch. They’re lovely family and have a talent for cooking and waiting tables to provide people with a first class dining experience. I went for the fish terrine which was smoked and tasted rich and delicious. My partner had the Moroccan meatballs, to which I had some food envy over. We both went for the seafood platter (picture above) which was incredible. It comes with some sourdough on the side and went down beautifully with the wine he suggested. The mussels were plentiful and the hake was tender and juicy! All in all I hadn’t had such an enjoyable dining experience in a long time. We will be coming back here!

We passed here as they were closing for lunch and looked at the menu. It looked great so we booked for the evening. So pleased we did!! Staff wonderful-clearly happy in their work and so helpful and friendly. The food was beyond delicious. We shared garlic bread, prawns and haddock remoulade to start (we were hungry!!) This was followed by the seafood linguine and pork belly. Everything was excellent,so fresh and tasty. There were some classics as well as some different dishes available and it was tough to choose. A real hidden gem and I can’t wait to visit again on my next trip down.
