The perfect spot for breakfast, coffee, lunch or dinner when in Shaldon. Service is superb, food offering has good choice, well cooked, reasonably priced. Absolutely love stopping for a coffee and cake on the terrace area overlooking the river. Can’t wait to go back,

An absolute delight and the best customer service i have seen in years. After a understandable mix up with my stepdaughter's order (the Mac n Cheese had just sold out, staff so busy, they hadn't had chance to take it off the menu) we were not only given a full refund, but one which had the 15% discount put back on. Such kindness by the staff was amazing. The venue itself is delightful, the food, gorgeous and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Lovely staff but booked meal was very late ( although complementaru prawn crackers were proffered ) and not brilliant ( very very lumpy gravy and "roast chicken "appeared to be two chicken thighs from a multi pack not slices of roast chicken) - also quite expensive £19 for one course for sunday lunch

First visit to the Bucket and Spade. We decided to stop for a coffee. The young lady serving was lovely and polite and attentive. Lovely clean/modern restaurant. Only £5 for a coffee and a cake and lovely views to boot.. We will probably go back for a meal as menu looked quiet nice.

Popped in for breakfast and found a vegan cake so sat and ordered drinks. Excellent to have a nice looking vegan cake! Nothing vegan on the menu but a lovely member of staff offered to remove items to veganise it. I would have opted for a higher rating except they still charge the full price. They are surcharge for non dairy items & hot tap water is £1.50. Excellent location just a little behind on inclusivity on the menu.

Walked in lovely chap greeted us with some light hearted banter .. ordered the food all cooked fresh in front of us got back to our lodge still piping hot and I’ll be honest I looked at the chips and thought these look nothing like my local chippy in the midlands . But in all honesty they was 10 times better fish Chucky and full of flavour roe fresh as you can get pies are amazing great chippy loved it would definitely go again and again

Just back from quite possibly the poorest roast and service with a terrible atmosphere for a long time. Plenty of staff, woeful service, had to wave for attention, then go to the bar to ask for service later. This isn’t being over fussy, trying to catch staff eye didn’t work. There seemed to be a male and female manager that couldn’t even raise a smile let alone serve. There was a red haired lady and a very young girl that seemed the only ones working and keeping the place together. Then the food, Luke warm at best. Reheated roast potatoes, burnt yorkshires, and beef that defied cutting let alone chewing. Deserts thankfully good. Then the bill, including “ service charge “ over £200! Sadly the outside appearance during work reflected on the quality of the food and service. Usually a great place to visit, so much so that it’s a 2 hour round trip to visit and always worth it until now. What’s happened? Where’s the quality gone? Where’s the service. A smile goes a long way even if busy. We visited at 4pm so extremely quiet so no excuse
