The Bucket & Spade in Teignbridge

6 of us locals went to The Bucket & Spade last night to celebrate a 70th birthday. The ages ranged from 5 years old to 79. The food was very good. We had 6 different selections and all of us were happy. The service was exceptionally good. Beth was front of house and could not have served us better. After years of not visiting, I have been up to The Bucket & Spade twice recently and highly recommend it.

Had a top quality breakfast morning with the family . Was just leaving as Sunday lunch was starting to be served. Will be for that if breakfast is anything to go by . Lovely service where people are interested in you . Definitely on the regular radar for treats . 👍

Overpriced money grabbing establishment once again charging millions for some sausages and mash, have I got mug written upon my head...?

Visited with family after a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Plenty of choice, good size portions and you could tell the ingredients were quality. All our food came out piping hot and well presented. The servers were very friendly and made an effort with our children. Some of the best service we have had. We will be back for sure.

Turned up at 09.30 for a breakfast which was ordered quickly, but noticed kitchen staff were more interested in food preparation for the day. As we were the only customers, I thought we wouldn’t have to wait too long, but took 35 mins. The breakfast looked like it had dried out, eggs were all but hard, butter had melted in their wrappings and could have resoled my shoes with the bacon. Over priced disappointment I’m afraid!

Went for Sunday lunch on a very windy day. Had great views of the sea by the window. The roast dinner was lovely and great portion size. Really nice to have some great tasting vegetables alongside. We were served by Murray who was extremely attentive to not just our table but others, and Murray was great at recommendations and options available. We had a lovely afternoon, thank you.

We set out to eat lunch elsewhere but then remembered we had been recommended The Bucket and Spade at Shaldon. Whilst we have driven past it countless times, we had always thought of it as a place of holiday homes, not realising what a treasure lay within. We were welcomed by a young man who we later learnt was known as Minty. The food was outstanding. We were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny afternoon and were able to sit out on the balcony with stunning sea views. The whole experience was delightful. Minty assures us that the evenings have an excellent atmosphere and we must try Sunday lunch. Whilst as Minty pointed out, it is the chef who was responsible for the excellent food and all credit to the chef for that but the welcome, the service, the friendliness is what makes it so much more than a meal. I hesitate to say this in case it gets so busy we can't get in, a sign out on the main road advertising the presence of the restaurant may have meant that we would have tried it sooner.

Friendly staff but meal was spoilt by a young man making a loud conference call which made it difficult to hear own conversation.The high wall behind us made us feel like second class citizens.The food was tasteless and bland but the coffees were superb.

Super spot for breakfast relaxed atmosphere and good food. Lovely views if you sit out on verandah. Staff extremely helpful just ask if you want your food prepared in special way We visit often twice a week.

This was the first time we have been out for dinner in a while, the Bucket and Spade did not disappoint! Fantastic service from Rachel and Murray, nothing was too much trouble. Delicious food. Highly recommended and we can’t wait to come back soon.

This cafe/restaurant is absolutely superb! Food tasty and well cooked! Great menu , staff are very helpful and friendly, attentive and caring Murray has served us twice now ! Once it was very steady . The next visit was pouring with rain and they were very busy! But the service was exactly the same both times! Well impressed! It will be a regular place to go from now on!! Service really good. We sat out on the deck, which had a lovely view. The first time my friend took me here I thought it was a bit odd to go to a restaurant on a caravan site. I was judgemental. It's really nice and food good. Not a cheap place but the food is appropriately priced for what it is

What a wonderful place. The food was fantastic-5 different dishes were ordered and all were delicious, served piping hot and with good portion sizes. Our server was only on his 5th shift but was absolutely faultless! Would highly recommend 👌 great value for money x

Great venue, good service, excellent view - food dry! As part of a party of 4 we ordered two salads and 2 roasts. The roasts were very dry and the portion of veg poor, all meat and potatoes were really dry to a point where we should of sent it back the portion of veg to share came with 3 mini parsnips, so one of us had 1 parsnip for a £32 roast!!

Excellent meal and fantastic service, so warm and welcoming. Beautiful terrace overlooking the sea and great chunky chips.

Its unfortunate to have to write a poor review on the Bucket and Spade, but due to staff mannerisms and quality of the food it feels necessary. We arrived on Sunday morning, checked in and sat to our table, a member of staff came to take our order, insisting we ordered our food and drink right away as they were expecting another big table to arrive shortly, it felt like there was a lot of pressure to pick something to eat in a short amount of time having only just taken my jacket off. We all ordered and thought nothing more of it, until I overheard the same member of staff ask another table of customers if they would be ordering food or just drinks as they were expecting " another big table to arrive shortly". The food arrived in good time, the avocado was hard and the pancakes and waffles that were advertised to come with maple syrup and sugar dusting, came without the dusting, they did come and add the dusting at the table, not in the cleanest of fashions. we finished up and went to the till to settle the bill, we paid in couples, each couple being charged a 10% service fee without notice. I also never saw the "big table" arrive in the time that we were there. All in all we felt a bit pushed to order and it felt the food was rushed. Shame because it has the potential to be a lovely place.

Have tried a few meals now at the newly refurbished Bucket and Spade. Breakfast is very very good but 2 waffles is a bit mean for the price? The full English has to be tried as it really is wonderful, but a little let down by serving ( cheap ? ) catering ketchup 😬it’s the little touches that make a big difference! Heinz please or Tiptree ketchup if you really want to impress. Same with Mayonnaise can’t replicate Helmans ☺️ The roast is excellent but it could be brilliant if could get crispy roast potatoes , don’t think I have ever come across a restaurant serving a traditional roast where the roast potatoes are crispy yet fluffy inside like homemade ones, if kitchen can master these you would be inundated with potato praise I’m sure ☺️ please Bucket and Spade can you make my roast potato dream come true? ☺️some of the veg could be better, if speed is an issue for kitchen they should try Auntie Bessie’s frozen roast parsnips as they are the closest I’ve found to home made. Although her roast potatoes are not as good unfortunately. Cauliflower cheese was lovely, nice texture and very cheesy and the Yorkshire pudding super. Lovely gravy. So nearly there just as I say a few tweaks. The Thai red curry was very tasty but let down by what I think was microwave sachet rice? Pizzas not great if I’m honest, do you have a pizza oven? I think it’s the bases? Either too soft /undercooked or if cooked well difficult to cut through and not tasty. A good pizza will have customers coming back time and time again. I really am not complaining just the new Bucket and Spade has so much potential and I want it to be as fabulous as it can be and really want to be a returning customer again and again! Service always friendly and location second to none.

Visited on three occasions and were more than happy each time. Premise has recently been refurbished, so clean and presentable. On separate days we enjoyed breakfast, Sunday lunch and evening meals. All cooked to order so we're hot and tasty. Although it's situated on a holiday home park, don't be put off. Well worth giving them a visit.

Great location and very nice service it has to be said. The food was average at best. The children’s meal of fish and chips included loads of batter with minimal fish (fishfingers would have been much better), the main meals for adults not great quality and therefore overpriced. I would have been very happy to have paid those prices, but the quality would have to improve before we visit again.

A bit of a strange place as when we got there it only seems to be a place for the caravan park, no real directions to the entrance though we did find it in the end, the staff were very friendly and welcoming on entering We ordered our food and drink all was well as we were the only people there so automatically I thought we cannot go wrong as the chef was only cooking for us, I was rite the food was cooked to perfection and was delicious, I will say though, I had the seafood linguine that was advertised as a main meal but when it arrived it was really only enough on the plate as a starter, luckily I asked for chips and blue cheese sauce as a side so I didn’t go hungry 9/10 from me would be happy to recommend and return

We’ve been in the restaurant twice and both time the service was superb and the meals delicious, stayed hot and were very generous. Would highly recommend.

Lunch with friends. The new look - modern and clean, tables not to close together, dogs very welcome. Staff just so helpful, the food gosh didn't disappoint. We couldn't eat all the tacos so had to bring one home. Chicken burger recommended and gosh glad it was. Good to see the Bucket and Spade back open, would recommend.

We had a really lovely lunch here. We had the focaccia sandwiches which were deeply filled and the bread was beautifully baked. There are not many places that offer this. The rest of the menu had good variety for reasonable prices. The view is wonderful and the place is immaculate.

Could not have food, drinks or service, as they refuse to take cash.

They haven’t updated their social accounts so you walk miles and the cafe is closed

All together.. very good!..few little niggles which stopped me giving it 5 stars across the board..the sausages were a little over cooked..the egg was knitted around the edge..they had run out of tartar sauce for the rest of my party who had fish..staff were brilliant.. overall experience was good..will definitely go again! 😊

Sunday lunch at the Bucket & Spade never disappoints. My vegetarian roast was stunning, with lots of variety and everything was lovely and hot. As always, the staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely be going back.

Outstanding food variety and quality, locally sourced. Excellent service. Very good space and seating inside and when the weather is good the patio and its views are panoramic.

A beautiful place inside and out ,views to die for , the meal three courses for twenty pounds the quality of the food was superb so well worth it , sadly there's a but we felt the staff could have been more friendly and what would make us not come back was the service charge I know it's not illegal but when you spend well over £200 it certainly adds up .we always leave a good tip if we get the good service but definitely not worth nearly £30

Pancakes was amazing. However the small brekki was not. Mushrooms was microwaved and the egg was raw on the top. They discounted £1 from the bill for the error.

A pleasant venue with a lovely view, and my sister did enjoy her pancakes and maple syrup, but found the £3 charge for adding bacon a bit expensive. Unfortunately, though, my poached eggs had an unpleasant vinegar taste, the toast was cold, not buttered, and was also slightly burnt. Very disappointing.

It was a very wet morning and we were struggling with what to do in the last few days of the hols. Needed some food so we alighted at this cafe. A very good find. Recommended by vegetarian friends, the menu caters for veggies and vegans as well so we were well served. Good mocha - and they do vary - good coffee too. My London family are pretty unimpressed with coffee offerings outside of London but this place was apparently ‘decent’. Clean, great service, friendly. Would be lovely on a clear day but the sea mist spoilt the view so must return and the lunch menu looks really very good.

I think I made a mistake ordering blow torched makrel, but everyone else's lunches were good.

We booked a table for the five of us and sat outside, taking in the fantastic views as it was lovely and sunny.Two of us are gluten intolerant the others not happy to add that we all were catered for we had a gorgeous meal and dessert will definitely be going back again.

Perfect spot for a summer evening meal overlooking Lyme Bay and could see over to Portland Bill! Pulled pork burgers delicious and sea bass was beautiful with crushed new potatoes - food tasty and well presented. Desert of pancakes and waffles a hit with the kids. Staff welcoming and attentive. Even dog friendly. We will be back!

Lovely food... we had burgers, and the kids' portions were good. Good service and good views. Service charge of 10% as standard, which we felt wasn't great, especially when it wasn't advertised, and to be honest, this would put us off going again.

Great spot for a meal with a view. We've been coming to Teignmouth for years but didn't know about this place just along the coast above Shaldon. Nice food, great views and good service. Quite expensive and extra service charge added on the bill which was not advertised. And still asked for a tip!

Wonderful place. Beautiful surrounds and very clean. Spacious restaurant and pleasant staff who can’t do enough for their customers. Kids loved it and luckily the sun was out so we had our coffee on the balcony. Highly recommended. Also a special mention to the manager Rachel. She really had the personal touch and went above and beyond to ensure everything went perfectly, and even got the kids some drawing stuff for the kids. Thanks Rach. 😀

Visited while on holiday with my family to get the kids eat free deal. The food was beautifully cooked and the view from the terrace is amazing. We walked from Shaldon with our kids which is possible by walking along the top of the botanic garden’s and golf course. Would recommend.

This is one of our families favourite places to go. Always have lovely food, clean and beautiful surroundings along with friendly staff who always make sure you have everything you need. The views are stunning and there is always plenty of free parking. Highly recommend as this is one of the best family and dog friendly places to go around. 😊

Came here as recommended by a friend for an evening meal with my two children and partner, was a lovely experience, really friendly staff and very helpful. Myself being gluten free it's sometimes hard for restaurants to cater for me however this was not the case at the bucket and spade the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and there was an excellent choice for me to choose from. Food was amazing and I'll definetly be coming back!!! Highly reccomend!

Booked a table for 4 at 10:30 for breakfast, as two of us arrived we were hurried to order as they stop serving at 11, which we thought was unnecessary. The frankly rude waitress then only brought out 2 sets of cutlery for our booking of 4, so we had to ask for more. We then had to go in to order which was fine but we’re told we couldn’t have scrambled eggs. And all 4 fry ups were missing black pudding which is on the menu. Just generally a rude waitress who made us feel rushed and like a nuisance, in a quiet restaurant, which isn’t what you want when you spend over £60 on breakfast. A shame given how nice the location is, and the food was also good. Maybe she was having a bad day! The other waitress was very helpful and pointed us in the direction of a coastal walk. Shame about the dark haired one.

So looking forward to enjoying a breakfast this morning but despite arriving on the cusp of 11.30 told breakfast no longer available We have been recommended this venue by multiple individuals! Maybe we caught them just on a bad day. If it was me I would have said breakfast is usually up to 11.30 but as it’s just the two of you please come through. That’s what great service should look like

Outstanding breakfast. Cooked to order. Served hot. Excellent food from selected suppliers. Great value. Terrific seating and views when the weather is good, inside is also comfortable. Service was excellent.

I had the full English and it was well worth the money, very tasty and everything was hot,definitely would go again 😋 2 stars for the atmosphere only because we were very early 😀

Amazing views. I've always been out of school holidays. If it's sunny, go on the deck. A really good addition to the cafe scene. It'd not overly apparent that non residents are welcome too. And the swimming pool needs to be promoted more too.

We had an incredible afternoon at The Bucket and Spade with friends for the Teignmouth Airshow. Amazing views, great food and the servers were extremely friendly and helpful. We look forward to next year ✈️

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunchtime visit. It was a beautiful day so we chose to eat outside on the rooftop terrace. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the meals are very reasonably priced. It was our first visit, but we will definitely visit again soon.

(Just went back for a second visit, still delicious!😋) ...Great staff, fantastic food...superb coffee...lovely selection of cold beers and non alcoholic drinks (Luscombe drinks etc)...amazing views, lovely setting, free parking and wifi, indoor and outdoor seating...highly recommended. Top notch all round!! 🤓💫 just went back for a Sunday Roast: so damn fine!! If you are in the area on a Sunday- go get it - you will not be disappointed!! Massive portions, beautiful food, choice of meats and delicious veggie options...really, go there, get some!! 😋

Positives were everyone was very friendly and the service was great. Lovely dining area and decorated well, good views. Good drink selection and Yorkshire pud. Roast was mediocre, the chicken was so dry and overcooked (only just edible) not enough gravy, even when asked for...

Visited for the music night on a Saturday, set menu for £30 per person, selection wasn’t huge but still good options and to be expected for a set menu. Food was all tasty, although they ran out of ice cream, clotted cream and cheesecake at...

Fantastic food, friendly service, reasonably priced and great views.

Sharp marketing practices used here.. promote offers for 2-4-1 etc, but not clear that pre-booking is required to qualify (not advised at time of seating or ordering either). Got stiffed for full price. Raised with them, and although they acknowledge it wasn’t clear, they are unwilling to do the right thing and honour the offer. Wonder how many others have also been caught out??

Great food, took advantage of their February £20 for 3 courses + £10 bottle of wine deal. Food was fresh, delicious and plenty of it. Staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Will be visiting many times more!

Everything was perfect with our Sunday lunch today. The staff were friendly and efficient, our food arrived in good time, but not so quickly that we felt rushed. The food itself was hot, served on hot plates, the portions were a good size and everything...

We visited on Saturday night and had the 3 course menu for £20 with house wine at £10. This was exceptional value. Service was friendly and very efficient. Would highly recommend

We went to the Bucket and Spade for a Sunday lunch. Weve often found going out for Sunday lunch disappointing but gosh not here. Would go as far to say we found lunch amazing. Staff really friendly and helpful. Nice place, great views. Will definitely...

Disappointing. The chef refused to do the poached eggs which were on the breakfast menu despite the place being empty Had run out of ham for a. sandwich. The service by the waitress was very good though.

We visited on a busy weekend and were certainly not disappointed. The food was excellent, the best ever!! The pizzas were delicious, the burgers, according to my husband, the best he has ever eaten and my steak and blue cheese salad was devine. As owners on site we have been disappointed here on numerous occasions but you now have it just right and we will be back again and again. Compliments to the Chef!!!

We arrived at the resturant at 10:40 and found a seat. We made sure we were noticed as new arrivals. After fifteen minutes I approached a member of staff to ask if our order could be taken, but we were told the kitchen was about to close at 11:00 so we couldn't be served. The member of staff was not apologetic and was quite arrogant with a smirtk on her face. My family and I have spent close to £200.00 in the past three weeks eating average food at this restuarant, primarily becuase the view is nice..... we will not be visiting again.

We called at 10.30am to enquire about breakfast and was told we had to get there by 11am We drove 10 miles and arrived before the alloted 11am only to be turned away as the chef refused to cook the four breakfast. Dreadful service with an arrogant chef who is going to lose them customers. We will never go back disgraceful

Lovely location, good tasty food. Two women were serving, one young lady who was helpful and friendly, the other, slightly older women, was unhelpful. We tried to catch her eye on numerous occasions to order more drinks and food. She looked very unhappy to be there...customer service usually comes with a smile and a greeting...perhaps she needs some training.

Only went in for coffee but must say it is a great place. Will be excellent to sit outside with the view in summer. Although we didn't eat the menu looked very good , so will try the food in the future.

Had a lovely roast dinner today and they catered for gluten-free diet . Easy to park too would highly recommend.
