Well....the clocks have changed....its dark and nearly winter....and we decided to treat ourselves to a lovely roast!! It was with slight trepidation because our experience of eating out and having a decent roast are minimal...... Sadly, we should have stayed at home and not bothered. We have been going to The London Inn for years....but progressively year on year our experience ( and the prices) have got worse. This evening, without doubt, we had the worst roast....ever. We asked for Pork but none was left. Either Beef or Chicken. Reluctantly we have one of each. The chicken was dry, the beef was rare. The 3 potatoes ( yes 3 each !! ) were tough and probably been stewing for 2 or 3hrs. The broccoli was rock hard and the leak was....well we don't know what it was, but certainly not edible. The carrots were crispy and burnt. Frankly, we have no idea how a "chef" could actually plate these 2 meals and not clearly see they were totally unacceptable. He needs to be sacked. This was all for the princely sum of £17.95 !! Ps the wine was ok but we poured it back into the bottle, paid £21 and beat a hasty retreat.... We will never return ....

Overall had a great dinner. The nice things: - decor was nice and suited the seaside location, I like it when a venue showcases local artists artwork on the walls - good selection of drinks - staff were friendly The areas to improve: - the patatas bravas wasn’t close to the real thing, they had boiled me potatoes rather than cubed fried potatoes… disappointing - the plant based burger was ok, but seriously let down by the incredibly small portion of chips. No side salad, no coleslaw… so overall a fail As mentioned, overall a pleasant evening but felt it represented poor value. Thankfully the first time in a long time I’ve felt that way leaving a restaurant/pub

We went for dinner at the London Inn and couldn’t recommend it more highly. All of the staff were fantastic and were very welcoming. They dealt with dietary requirements in a very reassuring and professional way and the food was delicious. The thing that really stood out for me was that I really felt like they wanted to go out of their way to accommodate us and that nothing was too much trouble- it’s something that means the world when you are dealing with allergies.

Table booked for 7.30 we arrived early so were seated at our table and drinks order was taken. I asked for sauvignon and was recommended the New Zealand Sauvignon so ordered a glass- ordered 2 in total then realised how expensive the wine was (£12.50 a glass) felt a bit misled .. the manager came over and asked what the problem was, so I explained and he was rather condescending and suggested that I clearly didn’t realise the New Zealand Sauvignon was a superior wine. He offered to reduce the cost per glass to £8.50 which was the average price for wine. Then, a table that arrived way after us, were served their food before us … however, when our food eventually arrived - it was good, so no complaints there. Just a rather disappointing episode

Walked in and booked a table in the afternoon for that evening. I can honestly say that I smelt the food at that point and thought this place is going to be good and I said so to my fiancée. I am not surprised to say that I was wrong with that assumption, as the food was some of the finest, me and my fiancée have had. I throughly recommend the Hake and Steak, the only change was I asked for a blue steak, rather than the medium rare and all I can say is WOW. My fiancée had the Lemon Basil Pasta and that was amazing too. I had the Creme Brulee for dessert and my fiancée had the Chef special blondie brown with salted caramel ice cream and again, it exceeded our expectations. The staff were wonderful, as my fiancée is pregnant, they opened the window to allow her to cool down and made us feel expectationally welcome, with the owner even coming out to tell us that our food was next. I would throughly recommend this pub and their food. Kudos to the chef/chefs and staff, it was wonderful.

Out of four meals one was ok. The ‘deconstructed’ lamb curry was odd in that the curry sauce was in a separate small dish, so the meat wasn’t really flavoured with the sauce and had an odd taste, and it was firstly sent back as it was barely warm. Another meal ordered was three tapas, two ok but the third was chicken Kiev and was like a huge scotch egg size. Inside was minced chicken and tarragon! Odd flavour for a basically garlic chicken dish. The vegetarian lemon pasta dish was ok but over priced. Pasta is not an expensive ingredient and there was little else in there. Parmesan was requested and a meagre amount was sent out in a little dish. Service was indifferent and had to chase for the bill. We were not asked if our meals were ok. Very poor and won’t return.

We had two nights at the London Inn, it's a lovely bedroom, everything you need even a mini fridge for milk the landlord gave us. The biscuits supplied so much better than most in accommodations. We ate there Friday night and I had chicken kiev wow that was excellent and my partner a steak he said cooked to perfection. Saturday night we tried the tapas that was tasty and choices were for most tastes. We enjoyed the atmosphere it was so friendly, we drank there the ale was excellent, as was the wine and prosecco. After check out which was 11am ideal on a Sunday, we went for a walk and came back and enjoyed a Sunday Roast , wow the batter pudding was so light and we rarely have them but was the best we have had and we eat out alot so compliments to the chef, and made our roast beef dinner. The staff were so friendly and polite a credit to a brilliant local business, the landlord ensured we had everything we needed, so nice it made our weekend, so thank you very much one and all.

Always a lovely place to while away the afternoon. Tim (?) the LL always manage a calming presence amidst general mayhem. Arrived for Sunday Lunch at peak time and no room at the Inn , as it were, but was not long before we were sat. Tapas of local crab on toast and white bait were commendable. Wine list had something for most, Muscadet “Lees “ aged and Chablis. Come hungry as the Sunday Beef Roast really piles them high. Will have to save room for dessert next time round. Ideal way of getting there is to walk as parking is a challenge in this quaint Devon estuary town. Given the dearth of quality wine bars in the Teign estuary, would love to see London Inn extending their wine range.

We booked for 12.30 and asked if they wanted us to pre order, as we were a group of 10, but were told it wasn’t necessary. 2 of our party didn’t arrive till 12.40 but we immediately ordered at the bar. At this point I was told that they had another booking for the table for 2.30, but we were having tapas so it shouldn’t be a problem. However I was also told that there would be a delay with the food. The tapas was delicious! But when we were asked to leave the table we hadn’t had time to have desserts or finished our drinks. There wasn’t anywhere to go as it was busy so we sat outside in the drizzle to finish our drinks. Not a very pleasant end to a birthday meal that cost us about £300 with drinks. The tapas were tasty & decent sized portions. My partner had hake tagliatelle which was most enjoyable. The fruit crumble was disappointing, it was just a light sprinkle of oats over stewed berries, no crunch or depth to the crumble. We enjoyed our evening, the pub always feels cosy & welcoming

A chance discovery; following a visit to Shaldon botanical gardens we wandered down to the shoreline looking for somewhere to lunch and came across this pub. Three different ales from three local breweries (well one based in Cornwall), all well kept, and a great menu. We had the most superb Tapas lunch! Will be looking for excuses to visit Shaldon more often 😁

If you go to Bovey Tracey a visit to Old cottage tea shop is a must. What an absolutely delightful tea room. Old fashioned charm at its best. Good old fashioned menu. It's like having lunch at Grandma's. An absolute must visit.

A really lovely local country pub; many locals here giving the pub a true community atmosphere. Very dog friendly. Good beer, and the staff even friendlier than the dogs. On Sundays, they just serve roasts, but they accommodated us by serving delicious stuffing balls as a special favour. There is a roaring log fire and a comfy sofa, and sweeping views. Highly recommended.

We all enjoyed a tasty, reasonably priced breakfast. Service took a while but that was explained to us and they were very busy. Good sized portions; my Eggs Royale (with smoked salmon) was delicious. Quite a noisy space, difficult to hear at times, again, probably due to how busy there were. Easy to park (and free!) Not sure where the ‘Italian’ theme has come from?
