Stopped for Ice Cream and drink on a hot summers day. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food and drinks were great.

This will go down as one of the rare times I say flawless not just in the food but in the service. A precious cafe in Devon. focusing on true good food which seems more important than ever in today’s world you truly get what you pay for here.

Just WOW! Amazing food, service and location, I literally could not fault the place. I had the Halloumi wrap and it was the best thing I’ve ever eaten. No pics of the food to share as I demolished it. Would recommend to anyone reading this.

To Sarah Harris and rainfall10 you obviously came together so not sure why you had to write two separate negative reviews. As a local who has eaten here for years, I’m not quite sure you understand the concept of this place. I have always found the food to be excellent, Super quality, extremely tasty and locally sourced where possible. Perhaps you might be better off going to McDonalds

Had an excellent mussels night on Friday and even though it was only mussels on the menu which my wife does not like they offered an alternative of fish or venison burger with fries or chunky chips and homemade mayonnaise and tartar sauce. Excellent Gasping Goose organic cider along with great selection of organic soft drinks from Cola, lemonade and ginger beer and many others. Went back today for a lunch with options of Fish, venison burger , Dahl dish and salads. Great friendly service and good value.

Not very good not much variety of food its ok if you like fish as that is really all they do very expensive as well menu not very good not much of a menu its ok if you are vegetarian no chicken or burgers no soft drinks very poorly managed expensive rubbish no value for money im passing the word around not to go here also passing the word around go to the ness house better food good quality food more variety there.

Wow The freshest tastiest food I have had for a long time. Super friendly staff and a great chief !

4 of us came up for brunch. We had 4 different meals with juice and coffee. All incredible. The quality of the food is great and the designs of meals really work. Lots of local produce. We'll be back.

When I questioned the extortionate prices, I was made to feel that I wasn't worthy of eating there anyway. Almost like they said, "We don't want your kind around here." £6.95 for a sausage roll?! The chef chap started sounding aggressive in the background so I hearded my client, with additional needs, away before he got upset. Rude, rude, expensive, rude!

Food is good, but they expect you to order via a code on the table, not easy.

Never knew this existed but my girlfriend took me. Amazing rustic cafe in a good stop if exploring Shaldon and the Ness Beach area.

The food is great. The coffee is great and the staff are really nice. What's not to like. Oh the view is fab aswell.

I’ve eaten here twice recently and the quality is exceptional. I highly recommend this place.

Excellent for coffee and a quick snack nicely located to take in views of the river Teign and Teignmouth. A little more variety on the menu would be good but the coffee and food are great.

Very expensive small sausage roll £5

Been here a number of times, the food is always great. We've been during the day, for Thursday pizza and sounds and for summer Friday supper, the food and service can't be faulted. The view is spectacular and the environmental credentials are second to none. Great, good value food that doesn't cost the earth!

Really excellent venison burger at lunchtime, plus impressive attention to detail and commitment to sustainability, all cafes should be like this!

Went for lunch with family. Very friendly staff. Lovely unusual menu. Food arrived very promptly and was delicious. View across to Teignmouth added to the experience.

Extremely limited overpriced menu that doesn’t include much proper food. Sells mostly beer,coffee and cake. Not a place to go for an actual meal. Cold Drinks selection is also pretty limited and expensive, no cola or any regular type drinks just fancy niche brand stuff.

We found the place very cold and the log fire didn't give out any heat. Paying extra for butter to go with the toast was the first we've come across on the whole we thought it quite expensive

Popped in after visiting zoo. Greeted by friendly staff. The dark chocolate brownie was amazingly delicious and the vegan chocolate cranberry flapjack was equally tasty.

The best cappuccino I’ve had in the area. Superb americano and latte coffees too. Coffee was strong and flavourful. Their dark chocolate cookies are delightful. People serving were friendly and helpful. Five stars!

Great new discovery in Shaldon, fantastic setup and really interesting food, came on a very cold day, log fire was struggling to heat the cafe. Will be back when warmer.

Baffled. These days it shouldn't be difficult to have something for a vegan or someone with an egg allergy. There was nothing on the menu. We were offered porridge in August.

A lovely little cafe, quite pricey for the size of the coffee, and they also charge for alternative milk. Very delicious croissants there, they have all recyclable items. Nice view from where they are. On Thursday they only have pizza available to order but other times they have different foods.

First post swim food at the Ness - ODE cafe. The smallest flat white I've ever had. Breakfast was over so had to go to lunch menu - so expensive for distinctly average food,

Very sorry to say the food was very average but very expensive. I get that you pay a little more for that location, but 'ouch'. The ordering was confusing. Staff were very friendly however and confusion resolved, but for that price, I'd take a picnic to the beach!!

Fantastic location and a lovely spot to rest after a long walk. Coffee and cake absolutely recommended. Be prepared, however for some delay in the order being prepared. I guess because of the location and popularity, orders do back up. Perhaps 11 minutes to wait for a coffee is ok and I'm spoiled by faster service elsewhere, but that said, it was a lovely spot. By its very nature it is the only choice for that coffee in the area of the car park, so I keep going back, chuntering every time.

Great place for food and drinks,great view over Teignmouth. The Zoo/Smugglers tunnel are close by, and loads of parking.

We had crab on sourdough with French fries it was delicious, really enjoyed our visit and was so filling

Excellent food, top notch chef!

Absolutely delicious! Full of flavour, good size portions. Venison was tender and the skinny fries were lovely! Definitely on the revisit list.

My partner and I are agreed that two stars is just right for this establishment. Since when did 'goujons of fish' become one singular small piece of fish that appeared to be from a packet and 'fish and chips' become 3 small pieces of the same? The crab was lovely but we were otherwise sadly disappointed and left feeling very ripped off having paid over the odds for our disappointing meals. Suffice to say we won't be back.

Small menu, but well executed. They committed one of my cardinal sins of charging to add ketchup to a bacon roll. Just seems grasping to me.

After ordering online, we waited over forty minutes for our food. A very discretely placed sign did actually say you should stress the urgency if you’d gone digital while actually being present but it still seemed baffling given the place wasn’t busy. The fish ‘goujons’ were disappointingly singular though delicious and a generous salad and excellent potted mackerel were nearly worth the money.

Good food. You now need to order and pay for your food through a website, but this was easy to do. They then just call your order, and you to collect the food. Drinks can be ordered the counter.

The Ness is much less expensive and much more friendly !!!! Cost of parking makes for a very expensive cup of coffee !!!!!!!!

We found the food is very expensive for what it is. When you order a bacon and egg roll for example you think just under £2 ( BUT THATS JUST THE BREAD ROLL!!! ) then the bacon costs extra and so does the egg so you end up paying over £6. Then it comes in a cardboard box and all of the cutlery are childrens size and made of recycleable plastic. Their excuse for the plastic cutlery is that it's recyclable..... I don't think they get the message..... the cost of production of these and then collection and recycling of them to the planet has a far far more damaging impact on the enviroment than using traditional table ware and metal cutlery....... Very very dissapointing all round for a cafe in a car park !.

Exceptional restaurant and we go out of our way to visit whenever we are on holiday in Devon. This restaurant has won numerous awards for sustainability and source all their food locally from farmers who adhere to high standards of animal welfare. They recycle everything, generate their own electricity, and the food is GORGEOUS, the staff are friendly and chatty, and it's a great little family restaurant. We were impressed because we have 3 coeliacs in the family and there were alot of gluten free options including cakes. This is a lovely family restaurant (incl. dogs) and is right on the edge of the car park overlooking the beach. Ness (smugglers) Cove is a lovely beach and just a couple minutes' walk away, as is the Shaldon Zoo tucked away in the woods.

Follow the narrow road down to the pay and display carpark. The cafe is on the edge if the car park. Outside seating gives a great view of the sea. Good coffee and great snacks. Next door to the zoo. A short walk to the sea or take a longer stroll into the village.

Great cafe. Interesting environmental awareness approach. Good coffee but a tad on the expensive side, but then again, you get what you pay for.

A lovely award winning cafe with a strong emphasis on sustainable eating with an eco-conscious ethos that sets it apart from its peers. As you walk in, you're warmly greeted by the Chef. I love the fact there is no 'counter' as such. I also love the views across Lyme Bay. Parking is provided by the local authority so its not free. But don't let it put you off as its worth it. They do evening meals too, all local and lovely.

Had a brew and a cake and it was wonderful! Indoor and outdoor seating, stunning views and the best ginger cake ever!!

Another great little cafe in the village. Sat outside during the only sunshine today. Great coffee and very nice toast and marmalade. Loads off parking. The views from the outside tables are stunning. Watrr bowls for dogs as well. Main menu looked good but did not sample it today.

Ness beach lovely and dog friendly all year

Popped in for a coffee and ended up having dinner. What a dinner it turned out to be. To call it fish and chips would be a huge understatement. Very classy, and absolutely delicious. I will definitely be returning. The owner or chef was very personalable and welcoming, we were lucky that a table cancelled and they could accomodate us, so make sure you book if visiting friday nights. Electric charging points available for your car too. Highly recommended.

Really top notch food. Well cooked and lovely simple menu.

Was excited to visit based on the environmental focus but I felt both of our meals were very bland and overpriced for small portion sizes.

The waitress had difficulty understanding me The view was wonderful sitting outside in the sunshine.
