Sticky Rice in Teignbridge

We had dinner here last night, what a fantastic little restaurant the welcome service and general care is fantastic. I like it when the staff take time to talk to the customers. Food quality was exceptional unfortunately we ordered too much food. As ever the question is would we return hell yes it’s a great little gem…❤️

Absolutely beautiful cuisine. The lady chef/proprietor has honed her skills in some of Londons top hotels. Freshly prepared food. Beautifully presented. The dishes were hot in heat and Beautifully tempered with Thai spices. Each dish tasting very different from the next.

We have had takeaways from the sticky rice before but this was our first sit in meal. It was lovely! The lady working, not sure if she was the owner/manager/front of house was lovely. She was tickled pink that I said thank you in Thai. We had the set lunch which was very good value for money. It was very tasty! They have one dedicated table where dogs are allowed to sit by… We loved it and are looking forward to returning.

The staff here are very friendly, nice Thai waitress and affable Turkish guy who is serving the drinks. He is 2 zillion feet tall. Apparently his Dad who is Turkish too, obviously, part owns the restaurant hence the Baklava deserts. Maybe they will do meze evenings in the future too or Turkish Thai fusion, though can't quite imagine what that would be like?. Food was fresh and yummy, good portions. But diabolically uncomfortable chairs. My feet did not quite reach the floor. I am not two zillion feet tall but neither am I that teeny weeny. Horrible backs. Maybe they could get some Turkish chairs? Dawlish is not super blessed with restaurants and I reckon if you are looking for somewhere this may well be your best bet.

The food was delicious,rich in Thai flavours and not too chilli hot. They were good sized portions and staff were helpful and very friendly.

I am surprised by the 'excellent' previous reviews but everything about our takeaway was poor. My starter had the unusual feat of being overcooked on the outside and undercooked inside, with a very runny side sauce. The curries were so runny, with the obvious outcome that none of the meat had any flavour. Service was blasé and certainly not welcoming as a final topper. I would personally avoid and certainly would never use again.

Absolutely wonderful food, great value for money and very friendly staff. A must visit when you’re in Dawlish, we will return.

Ordered a take away to collect at 18:15 using their online system. Got there at 18:15 to be told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Came back in 20 minutes to say they couldn’t find our order, despite having previously said it would be ready in 15 minutes. Showed them the order on the phone, only to be told the order “didn’t print”. They then said they would have it ready in 10-15 minutes. They finally gave us our order 40 minutes late- we got it home, and 2 items were missing. We rang up and they delivered the missing items. Finally, 55 minutes late, we got our full order. The bag of prawn crackers they brought with the delivery was no recompense. We’d already bought a bag and didn’t want another. The food was very good, but the service was dreadful and very disappointing after reading such great reviews, which affected our enjoyment of the meal.

Visited Sticky Rice Thai for the first time today while visiting Dawlish for a couple of nights We were given a very warm welcome by a friendly Thai lady, who genuinely was happy to see us The food was delivered to us promptly and tasted delicious and fresh. You can tell this is a business owned by a person who makes sure she exceeds her customer’s expectations and is up front with them We are going back again tomorrow

Been meaning to try this restaurant for a while. So glad we did . Staff very friendly and the food excellent . Would recommend the 'sharing' starter it was absolutely fantastic . We will definitely be going back.
