Bollywood Spice in Teignbridge

Ordering was confusing and the food was disappointing. I ordered through the website, opting for an 8pm delivery - you choose this up front. So I placed my order - Saag paneer, veggie korma and rice. That's one main, one side and the rice - (this was intended to be for two people to share). At the end of ordering, you are again offered to select a delivery time... the times were very different to those offered at the beginning so I chose 8.25pm. That'd do. Except when confirming the order, my delivery time of 8.55pm was confirmed. Not ideal, but it had taken a lot of brain power to get to this point with the order, so we'll wait. The delivery was pretty much SPOT ON 8:55pm, so that was impressive. But when I opened the food, I realised this would NOT be enough for two people (with small appetites, btw). The paneer was a side, so I expected that to be small. The korma, however, was a plastic tub of korma sauce with 3 or 4 small pieces of potato, a few peas and 4 1-to-2 inch slices of green beans. This basically had the main part of the meal missing entirely. The sauce tasted nice, but I was just annoyed that I then had to prepare more food to actually provide a meal. I won't be ordering from them again.

We went to our favourite Bollywood spice for a Mother’s Day meal. Again the food was delicious and fantastic service. Never been disappointed. The best Indian restaurant in the town.

Very tasty food at this friendly restaurant in Newton Abbot. Waes, who took our order and served our food, delivered a high level of service. Additionally, as the restaurant isn't licensed, you can BYOB and they don't charge corkage. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. They also have a thriving take away and delivery service.

Order arrived on time, food was OK but ordered a house special biryani which was supposed to include prawns but disappointingly did not contain any

We enjoyed Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Saag and Chicken Madras from Bollywood Spice at work and I was very pleased with the quality and taste of the food. The chicken was tender and well-marinated, the lamb was succulent and the spinach sauce was creamy and flavourful. The Madras curry had a nice kick of spice without being too overpowering. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic and delicious Indian cuisine.

Ordered online over a week ago and my money was taken, then received an email to say my order had been cancelled because I was too far away for them to deliver to (despite putting my postcode in on the website and it being fine). I rang up and was told I’d receive a refund in 24-48 hours but never did. I left a message two days ago and received no answer, so I called again yesterday and was told I’d receive a call last night to sort it, but I still haven’t had a call back. I’d just like my money back as promised please.

The food is so great. I have yet to taste a better Indian food. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. The place was very clean and so close to the train station. Thank you team bollywood spice newton abbot. Will see you again soon.

I have tried most of the main dishes to be honest the humble Balti is one of the best i have ever tried anywhere so would highly recommend it. the Wednesday special is very good value £28 for 2 mains 2 sides 2starters bread and rice the family quite like the korma (for me to sweet and creamy) that is the dish and is at least equal to or better than most the staff are very friendly and more then willing to make resemble requests ie extra spice regular customer and have no plans to change this excellent culinary find

Food took ages to arrive and they forgot the bottle of coke! Not great service food was good.

We made an order for collection on the 16/9/23 We chose this shop due to its reviews online, our bill was £35 pounds for two people. I can honestly say it's one of the worst curry's I've ever had and I've tried many over the years The poppadoms was soft, stale the curry's We ordered had hardly any meat the chicken dish I had was swimming in oil at the bottom of the plastic container my husband had lamb the lamb was like a rubber shoe to the point it needed a sharp knife to cut it. Our chips was cold we was so disappointed most our food went into the bin I wouldn't go by some of the reviews and stars on this page I would definitely try a different curry shop. We have just brought a holiday home close by to enjoy for many years to come if the food was nice it would of had our custom every Saturday night while we are on holiday but it was that bad I would never return or recommend. I'm all for supporting small businesses but bollywood spice your food you sent out for someone to eat is totally unacceptable and at £35 pounds I'm annoyed people work extremely hard for their money I wish I had cooked instead.

Had a couple of great takeaways, the food tasted fresh and well cooked. Nice variety of spices, I’ll be going back to try some more dishes, I think this is the best Indian I’ve found in Teignbridge.

Awesome again. Eat in menu is different from the takeaway. They got some authentic Bangladeshi dishes which are unique. Sagorana chicken wow. This small restaurant ticks all the boxes to be the best in the town.

Thought we give this ago heard good reports. Four adults, take your own drinks good thing. We had lamb curries, lamb just ok curry just ok the rice was nice. Other two had a by rimani they said it was nice. Popodums ok but the dips were no good. What a shame because the servers were very nice.

Only had takeaway so far, 3 to be exact, always fantastic, spicy, delightful and tasty to say the least. Sometimes I don’t know what I want but I am always guided to order to my taste and how I feel which, to me, is really important. Different days, different taste buds, but, the recommendations that I have gone with have scratched my itch and satisfied my salivation. Too much? OK, highly recommended and, not sure what you want, just ask and be pleasantly surprised, I was, more than once. I can’t speak for my son but he just says “beautiful”. Nice people and great service (for takeaway) as well.

Take away took 2 hours to deliver & main course missing (had to keep phoning to chase) They did then bring it but 🙄 Food was ok, expensive I’d say - no salad or sauces (other than mint sauce) come with starters or mixed grill which was a surprise

Had never really noticed this restaurant before: what a mistake. Hands down the best Indian food we’ve eaten in a long time. You could taste the individual spices & herbs, not the usual gloopy, fatty sauces over everything. Went for dishes we hadn’t tried before & nothing disappointed. Service was quietly attentive & very friendly. The BYO aspect is a major plus point too. This place deserves to be better known.

Quick delivery. Amazing food & quality. First time ordering & won't be going anywhere else now. SO much better than any other local Indians. Food tasted great & great quality. Only downside is the more expensive delivery payment depending where you live.

Both take away and restaurant experience are second to none. The restaurant has a few extra dishes which are not available on the take out menu, try them, you wont be disappointed. The food and service are excellent. We have eaten in the restaurant many times, every visit has been exceptional. The staff are attentive without being too familiar. The food is amazing, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The icing on the cake is being able to bring your own wine. There is no corkage charge. You can enjoy a good bottle of wine with your meal without hefty price other restaurants charge. If you haven't tried their restaurant yet, put it on your to do list, you wont be disappointed.

Visited the restaurant on Xmas eve - our 4th visit this year. The restaurant menu is a little different to the take-away menu, and all the dishes we have tried have been exceptional, as has the service and the presentation. Since they do not have an alcohol licence, it is great to be able to bring a decent bottle of wine from home. (They supply the glasses and there is no 'corkage' charge). A truly fantastic restaurant.

don’t try this restaurants food ever. They are very unhygienic and very rude behaviour . I know a person works there said they wash dishes with very unhygienic way and please make complain about them. This restaurant should be closed .

Great tasting food with lots off flavours

Stayed at Finlake Lodges and before we went used Trip Advisor to find a nice Indian for a meal. From pictures of the outside it doesn't look very inviting, looks more like just a take-away so was a little off putting if being honest. Researched a few places, read reviews and went with this one as reviews were excellent. Family run business, so friendly and the food was excellent! The Tandoori Mixed grill looked amazing, meat was succulent and tasty. My husband likes Chicken Tikka Masala with a little extra spice and it was perfect. I tried the Bollywood Special Curry and it was excellent, so tasty and a nice spicy kick to it. We had another special dish too which I've forgotten the name but was cooked with the minced chicken balls, again excellent and tasty and would have again but would ask for it to be cooked with chicken/lamb but just personal choice. Love a kemma rice/naan but thought a little expensive so didn't bother, had a garlic naan bread instead and it was beautiful. Great you can take your own beer/wine so helps on the pocket. Fantastic friendly place, great tasty Indian food and would recommend!

Walked in off the street tonight for the first time after walking past it so many times. The service and food were both amazing. You have to take your own alcohol which was never a problem as there is a Premier shop 50 metres away. The restaurant kept our wine in the fridge and served us our food. I cannot state how good the food was. There was three of us including one from South Africa who is on holiday and she was as impressed as we were. We had two courses each and the bill was only £41. To sum it up, great food and service, authentic atmosphere and value for money. It will not be our last time there. 5 stars from us all.

I am always amazed at the huge disparity in takeaway reviews. I am glad to see the reviews for Bollywood Spice are positive as the food is very very nice. Always arrives hot, the delivery drivers are ALWAYS nice and friendly and I feel the prices are very reasonable, especially if you order on their very easy to use website as opposed to JustEat. Would absolutely recommend. My only comment is that the wait times can be longer than expected sometimes BUT they always warn you and the food is worth the wait.

I’m lucky to have this restaurant in my town. It’s the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever seen. Food is so fresh and tasty with flavour. Their food quality pushes me to order every day but unfortunately I can’t afford that. Well done. Highly recommended.

Ordered many times from Bollywood spice and so far haven't had a bad takeaway from there. Love the Vindaloo. Unlike some of the local nearby takeaways the consistency of the food isn't runny. Keep up with the good work guys!

I don't like leaving negative reviews but this takeaway was really very poor. Took 1.5 hours to deliver and then what arrived was barely edible. Perhaps they are better at the hotter curries, but it almost felt like they were taking the p out of us for ordering the milder dishes. My passanda was really odd, had a horrible texture and no flavour at all, tasted like precooked chicken heated in mayonnaise it had a glutinous overly smooth very fatty custardy sauce unlike any passanda I've ever had before. Boyfriends butter chicken was no better and the naans were cold and dry. Very disappointing and very expensive for what we got which at best could be described as jar sauce curries (over 25 for 2 curries and 2 naans)

I ordered from this company, not only did my meal not turn up as it was late, they didn't answer the phone, they took my money and received no food. When I got hold of them the next day, there was no apology or anything. I had to ask for my money back. Also because it was late that night I had to go with out any food. Not impressed and not even apology for what happened. I wouldn't use them again.
