Ness House Pub, Restaurant & Hotel, Teignmouth in Teignbridge

Large room, very nicely decorated, with a balcony and views across to Teignmouth. Quiet and comfortable and good food (evening and breakfast)

We ate there in March 2025. Beautiful place, buzzing atmosphere loving the music . We were little disappointed with the beef Sunday dinner. Despite being the perfect colour (cooked well) , it was very stringy in that you had to pull it apart . Also the cauliflower cheese sides were very dry and lacking cheese. I did mention to the waitress about the beef but I got no meaningful response. I really expected better .

We went for Sunday lunch today. While the food was nice it was lukewarm by the time if got to the table. Lunch just under £20 each. Nice views of the sea.

Popped in for a light lunch, had the toasted bacon, chicken, lettuce and tomato club sandwich with fries, absolutely delicious, and a side of garlic giabatta. Went in the bar lounge, very cosy and comfy seats, will be calling in again soon !

Had a roast dinner here, it felt a bit chaotic and the food wasn’t that hot. The place itself is in a great spot, maybe just for a drink instead.

Fantastic staff, extremely helpful, polite and welcoming, set on a gorgeous location, just lovely.

Really poor unwelcoming service. My family and I came in with our dogs after our walk, just looking for a drink and some snacks. We looked around the bar area but there was no space (there wasn’t a large number of tables in there). So I went to ask someone and she just shrugged her shoulders and said we couldn’t sit anywhere else with dogs and basically walked off. She was really rude with no apologies and no help moving free chairs so we could sit for 30mins or so. It’s a shame as we’ve been here before and love the location but it left a really sour unwelcoming taste for us. We went to a pub on the Main Street instead so won’t be rushing back to the Ness

Popped in for a quick coffee and were really pleasantly surprised at how lovely this place was! Amazing decor, a really welcoming greeting from the friendly staff, lush coffee and cake. Will definitely return 😁 The views across the estuary are great too!

Had a meal at The Ness food was excellent, steak was very tasty but a bit tough. I did mention this and my comment was immediately fed back to the kitchen also money taken off our bill which for me it the sign of an excellent establishment who care about customer service snd value their customers

Excellent pub with a warm atmosphere, attentive staff and nice views of the estuary. The steak & ale pie and the braised beef shin in particular were delicious and well worth the price. Local Outland stout very tasty too.

Lovely pub, great place and dog friendly

Ideal location. Lovely pub feel, so typical of Hall and Woodhouse. Fantastic room, far beyond our expectations. Fabulous staff, so friendly and helpful, ironed out a minor concern with ease and great skills. We will return, no doubt.

Avoid if you can ! Plenty of good pubs in the area and hotels, their food is not good and completely over priced, I don’t like leaving negative reviews but I really wasn’t impressed with this place !!!

The staff here are amazing, as a solo traveller went above and beyond to make my stay amazing. I had my phone stolen from Paddington on my journey for my weekend away and they definitely made my stay fantastic. Staff excellent, food 👌 😋 very tasty and my room 4 was beautiful. Definitely highly recommend 👌 Will be back for sure , thanks again 👍 Sheryl

Really nice, cosy bar for a drink with stunning views.

1, Amazing food. Good enough service and atmosphere. I don't like this service charge thing even if the waitress nicely asking it at paying if I want to pay it. Service charge should include in the food's price! I usually leave tips ..but not like this at all! 2, As I can not reply to your reply, I have to write here again. I totally know what is the service charge and I still do not like it. And it is your (the management's job to get the staff compansated for the level of their service giving them fair pay and do not leave it to guests! We, guests leave tips if we wish to and do not like to be asked! I repeat, I usually leave plenty tips.

I have just spent four very comfortable nights at the beautiful Ness Hotel. The location is beautiful with wonderful views across the water into Teignmouth. The rooms are very comfortable with big comfy beds and plenty of room. The decor is quirky and pretty with lots of nice finishing touches. It's all very restful and peaceful. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and competent and go over and above to help especially in challenging situations as I witnessed whilst staying.

What a lovely place to stay. Friendly, helpful staff. Delightful food. Pleasant bar, lounge and wonderful views.

Nice beer in the sun, overlooking the shore.

We live locally and our first visit for 4 years.we met our friends who are on holiday for a meal.The service was good and we all enjoyed the food ,service was prompt considering it was a busy Saturday a most enjoyable evening. A lady on the next table to us had a medical emergency and the staff delt with it in a most professional way and got her medical help a.s.a.p.well done.

I didn't have a room here BUT, bought my family here whilst on a day out was not disappointed at all. Easy to order to the table, the food was absolutely beautiful. The servers were polite and helpful. The place was really clean and has nice changing facilities for babies. Also attracts a really friendly crowd. My 3 year old went up to various tables and sparked up conversation with patrons. All of which were lovely. One server also allowed me some hot water to warm some milk uo for my baby. I (wrongly) assumed that because of the Ness' location, it wouldn't be great as they would cater towards the tourist crowd but I was so wrong. I'd come back in a heartbeat. Didn't get a photo of our food unfortunately as it was gone before I'd even considered taking a pic but I had the halloumi wrap, my partner had cod and my 3 year old had a burger and EVERYTHING was eaten. This is a fabulous place for a bite to eat. Thank you to The Ness for the fantastic experience.

Great pub, fab location and wonderful experience

We had an absolutely fabulous stay at Ness House. It was a last minute weekend getaway to take advantage of the lovely weather. We actually ended up staying an extra night. Beautiful spacious rooms with excellent facilities. Staff were so helpful and thoroughly enjoyed our freshly cooked breakfast. Lots to see and do in the area and no doubt we will be back. Highly recommended.

Overpriced overcooked food. Fish and chips…..surely not difficult to get right. Very expensive and very disappointing. The fish was dry and overcooked and the batter tough. And everything was very greasy. The chips were hard and also overcooked. The fat in the fryer needs changing! The only saving grace is the location. I won’t visit again.

We only spent 1 night here, it was fully booked afterwards, we really wanted to stay a while, beautiful weather which made the view even more beautiful, room with balcony. In our opinion, the catering industry could pay a little more attention to everything. We didn't think dinner was great, but it was fine. Breakfast much better, we especially thought the honeycomb rack was very original!

Great location with amazing views across the river Teign and sea. Food was fantastic and great service. Highly recommended.

Beautiful setting everything clean lovely staff food good

All 5 stars...but just one niggle..the ladies toilets were a bit neglected. Wet loo roll on floor in all of the cubicles. Un flushed loo. I think it needed a regular cleaning/ checked rota.

Staff are really friendly and it's nice to have a pint looking out to sea.

It was very friendly and welcoming. Decor is lively with the candles in the bar area and the main restaurant gives you room between tables so you don’t feel packed in!

Nice place for drinks, and food is very good, but watch for dishonest bait and switch wine and dinner promotion (a free bottle of wine is advertised with two meal purchases), but the wine is 'sold out' when you order. 'Subject to availability' as the terms say, but multiple attempts have revealed that the availability is never.

Food was poor my fish and chips was awful

Everything was perfect, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, staff were excellent, really lovely evening, 👍😊

Beautiful setting overlooking the water. Gorgeous decor inside. Helpful, really friendly staff, especially with our 1 and 4 year old. Perfect for a special occasion. Really enjoyed our visit.

Lovely food, fantastic room (2) and views. Lounge area was comfy and relaxed.

We had booked a table and arrived early, we were told we would be taken to our table when it was vacant, however this didn’t happen and we had to take ourselves after our initial booking time. We ordered extra drinks but they didn’t arrive and we had to chase these and then had to explain about ordering the drinks as they were placed on our bill twice. We had to ask for our table to be laid as well as menus and for the cleaning products to be removed.

Good food, but evening service was very slow!

Fabulous location. Gorgeous property. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely, clean accommodation with superb views. Breakfast fabulous, although we could have done with more bread for all the jams and honey on offer. Sadly the lunch was overcooked and overpriced.

Great food, speedy friendly service. It was quiet but a nice ambience.

Very pleasant evening had. Food was delicious and very generous portion sizes. A relaxed environment.
