Horrible large lumps of bone in food-and arguing it wasn’t from their food!!!!

Food from here is always fantastic. Fresh, hot and full of flavour. Staff are always super friendly and helpful and should you opt for home delivery it always arrives quickly. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Happy to wait a little longer for real quality food, very generous portions and great taste. Will come again!

Never used them b4 but thought we'd give them ago, I have dairy issues, so usually have a foo yung dish, it was horrible I swear the eggs weren't fresh & as I usually have mushroom foo yung their were hardly any mushrooms in it.

Hands down one of the best Chinese meals I've ever eaten! Everything was fresh and tasty, not greasy or overcooked. We also got a lot of food for the money too, highly recommended!

Had a really high quality takeaway tonight. Delivered on time. Lots of meat in some really good portion sizes. We massively over ordered but the good news is we get to eat leftovers!

Pretty good Chinese to be fair Spring rolls are massive, the menu seems the same as most other Chinese takeaways, but the quality of food seems better than most. I would recommend if you fancy a Chinese takeaway

First visit and last, food was ok but not worth the money. Extremely disappointed, we checked reviews before visiting and went by them. Nearly all of the food went in the bin. Makes you think who does the reviews.

Had a Chinese here a few weeks ago when staying in Newton abbott. This was honestly one of the best Chineses I have ever tried, food was delicious, and portion size was really good for the price, will definitely be returning on the next visit here

Service was fast but the food was tasteless, it all tasted the same very bland wouldn’t return sorry.

In website are different prices when you go here same. They increase all prices with 20% minimum but our wage are in same scale. They should begin one of the best Chinese in town but not now I reckon. Shame you guys

Really like the ability to order online, and the food is consistent and tasty. Delivery drivers always polite, as well as staff in shop when we are less lazy and collect 😂

We have ordered from Lucky Star several times and each time the food has been absolutely delicious. I would go so far to say one of the best Chinese take away we have eaten. Also, they deliver which is an advantage as a lot of their competitors won’t. Paul, the delivery driver is very friendly and the food was piping hot even though he had a fare way to come. Would definitely recommend Lucky Star for quality, service and value.

Great chinese best spare ribs ever I also had mix meat curry which was great plenty of ingredients but could do with being in a bigger container so there's more curry sauce as in sauce to rice ratio and my missis said best mushroom omellete ever

Won't get top ratings as has dropped the customer service since the girl serving has left. Fairly long wait and the prices have recently increased quite a lot. Was our go to Chinese but will think about going elsewhere in the future.

Wow! The shop is beautiful. Just the right balance of traditional and modern. Extremely clean and lots of comfortable seating for whilst your waiting. food here was piping hot, great service and all the food was flavourful and delicious. Get your orders in quick because it gets quite busy!

Fantastic takeaway! Was my first time ordering and since I’m vegetarian I wasn’t expecting much, but the staff were all very helpful. Especially the youngest member, Crankal, who guided me through the many vegetarian options that they have. Food was delicious and piping hot! Fab job guys

Wasn’t expected much but I wask in shock. I got a delivery from very far away and arrived in 10mins! The staff was very friendly and humble especially their youngest worker named crankal who guided me through my order. I opened the door to a juicy delicious Chinese food and a gift card as I was theyre 1000th customer and they hit a milestone. I am so impressed and will definitely order again soon.

We are VERY happy with Lucky Star - in average a tenner cheaper than the other restaurant we used to order from, not as greasy and much, much tastier.

You never have to wait long for the food to be cooked. Staff are helpful. Always enjoy their food and I would highly recommend.

On holiday near Ashburton, first time trying lucky star, and all the food was wonderful, will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

FOOD POISONING! Usually wouldn’t leave a bad review however me and my partner have been incredibly ill after having a takeaway from Luck Star. Can only presume it was from one of the chicken dishes as those that didn’t eat chicken weren’t affected. 👎👎👎

Used a few times but my last visit the egg fried rice seem well over cooked and the chicken balls batter was just too hard. Very disappointing

1st time ordering. Easy to order. Food hot. Sweetcorn and chicken soup. Very tasty as was sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style. Very good portions and prompt delivery

We've Tried this takeaway 3 times now whilst visiting relatives in this area each time has been lovely! online ordering is really easy and delivery spot on ,staff very friendly , piping hot food all dishes were tasty and generous portions def recommend

Ordered scheduled delivery for 8.50, rang at 9.10 to see if they had any update on if it was on its way .. unfortunately the first guy didn’t understand too much so passed it over to a young girl who was very rude and didn’t help at all just said it was on its way didn’t apologise about it being 20 minutes late and not even left yet also hang up the phone as she didn’t want to deal with it, I would suggest getting staff trained for issues you may retain more customers, a polite phone call to say we are experiencing unexpected delayed goes a long way 👍🏻

Still one of the best in town..although a few things have changed..like the sharing box type thing you get with your starters, not a fan ..but overall still yummy 😋

Fantastic! Just visiting the area so ordered on a bit of a whim. Sweet and sour sauce was fruity and tasty... crispy chili beef up there with best I've had from a takeaway. Nice and spicy too... ordered for collection... was ready when I arrived... got it home and opened it to find it still piping hot 🔥 great job guys!

Terrible the curry was vile no taste to it at all and it was a green yellow not the golden yellow it should be, and my good god who taught them to make fried rice, I've never seen a oriental person make fried rice with so much dark soy sauce, the rice looked like chocolate rice it was that dark, and well the sweet and sour Cantonese style or Hong Kong style as its known here well it was a very light pink syrup glup that had no flavour at all. HOWEVER they can cook chips just and the best part of the meal was the prawn crackers. I have eaten in China Town in London and Birmingham regularly, if I took that takeaway to there and asked the locals what they thought, I'd be laughed out of the area. Save your money and either find somewhere else or go to a shop and get the ingredients to make your own meal, torquay and exeter have lots of oriental shops to get stuff from. I can't believe people say this is a good place, you've obviously never eaten proper Chinese food then.

Food excellent but a few glaring omissions. No tofu dishes; no chopsticks offered or even available. Overall very good just sort out these extra bits!

2020: Average everything but poor service. Always too busy to answer phone or speak when they do. Food ok quality. Nice at times and reasonable price though small portions. There are no good Chinese in NA but this is a better one. 2021 Update: cold over cooked food at a high price. Price in person different than phone! 1 meal was inedible and clearly reheated old meat. Disgusting. No point complaining as they don't care. Avoid.

If you want a rushed greasy chinese, that you have to drive to pick up the rest of it when they incorrectly take the order and forget parts. You can to call them politely to correct the error just to be hung up on. Then this is the bad Chinese for you. Lessons in customer service needed and stop rushing the food and it might be worth the money. Wont use again.

Very tasty food good portions and good with delivery

My wife and I are on holiday just outside of Newton Abbott, we fancied a chinese takeaway. We searched on the iternet and found the Lucky Star. Lucky us, from the phone call to order a very polite gentleman answered and was extremely helpful. To the young lad that delivered our order, social distancing was obeyed. Then the food, to give a 5 star rating is not enough, it should be a a 10 star rating because you guys deserve it. Certainly one of the best takeaways we have had in a very long time. The food was lovely I gave it a 4 only cause the mushroom was over done and the meat beef was quit chewey but then you can't alway have the best all the time. But all together service was good and the deliver driver was friendly.

Best Chinese I've ever had. Orders are always taken correctly and no messing about. Delivery is quick, had it within 25 minutes tonight. I wont go anywhere else.

If you want all of the dishes you order to taste EXACTLY the same despite being wildly different and you have a real thing for large chunks of carrot in EVERY dish. This is the place for you. If on the other hand you want tasty well cooked food go elsewhere.

I have been to a fair few Chinese’s in Newton and I must say this is the best I wish I had stopped by before great service , clean reception area , food tasted great much better than the other favourites in Newton don’t be put off by the few reviews majority of people only review when they have had a bad experience .
