The best restaurants in South Somerset South West

Very nicely appointed hotel and restaurant with nice bar area and open fire. Food was tasty, good service, a very enjoyable lunch! Dog friendly in bar area.

Ordered from here for the first time since moving back. Always hesitant with with some takeaways due to prices and taste. The prices here are very reasonable and the taste of the food was great. Will definitely come again.

We were staying in Charlton Musgrove for the weekend to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We went to The Smithy for a meal on Friday night. They looked after the 10 of us superbly. This is a very welcoming pub, lovely interior, fabulous roaring fire and a nice pub garden. The owners and staff were all so friendly and the food was lovely. Thank you so much for looking after us so well and for making it such a memorable night. We will be back one day!

Probably didnt see this pub at it's finest as we visited late afternoon on Mother's Day. A good size and comfortable decor, suggestive of a nice sense of community.

We arrived for dinner on a very busy and noisy night. Our table had been reserved and we were seated with no issues in a pub pull of character and with a super ambience. It was very busy and we were 15 minutes late which probably explains a further 30 minute wait to be served. The service from then was very good. The food was also very good and we all enjoyed it, and whilst its not cheap, what is these days. One slightly negative point was the fact that in spite of a prior request, no provision had been made for the one of our party who is disabled, and there is a huge step to access the pub and no disabled toilet which made life difficult for him, but that said, we all had a good night and we would recommend it.

Me and 3 outhrrs went here for breakfast was very nice good quality produce sausage was amazing friendly service definitely go back best I’ve had in a long time .

Just small chips today. Service was pleasant and friendly, got there as they opened, served straight away no messing. Plenty of people followed in behind me. So chips are good, not top tier but about average of what I expect. Small portion, £3.20, was good amount, better than a lot of chippies. All edible unlike last place I went too, no green or black ones. Will come again and next time try something with the chips. Overall prices seemed well priced.

Oh my goodness me! The most marvellous steak pie! 'Desperate Dan' size! Wonderful staff! How a pub should be. Guaranteed a warm welcome.

Absolutely fantastic breakfast with great staff great atmosphere will definitely go again perfect start to a Sunday morning x

I had a ploughman's and a latte ...the food was plentiful and the coffee delicious

The three things I always want when eating out are great service from real people who care, great ambience and great food. When you add good company it always turns out to be a fabulous experience. That is what we got for our lunch on Saturday. And the Minute Steak was exceptional

Currently staying in the area for a long holiday/work stay. What terrible people the owners are, the woman especially, the way she talks to the staff is disgraceful and I shall in future avoid this place. One person had just started, their very first day - I overheard this as the owner shouted at them in front of customers and made them cry. I understand you have to run a business but there is a way to manage people and this is not it. It made us feel very uncomfortable sat with my large group including family with a child the same age as the poor person this woman was yelling at. I won’t review the service or the food as concerned for the staffs safety. Beautiful place, needs new owners.

Great lunch. Seven of us turned up as they had opened. We were are party of 4 adults and 3 children. We all chose completely different meals from the menu and every dish was perfect. Special requests were dealt with and we all thoroughly enjoyed our freshly cooked lunch. Will definitely be back again. Many thanks Diane and Russell for making our family feel welcome.

Beehive inn calm just waiting on our mate shea to finish his dinner, lovely welcoming lady behind the bar, shea dinner took longer than expected so you know how it is got myself a fosters , my boy Louis paid for it, good boy. Just on our way to spoons having a Monday bash, think we’re meeting Tyler Chubb aswell

Beautiful location,, really lovely hosts and gorgeous room. Very good size and so clean. Lovely outdoor area and ample parking. Will be back
