Just spent a relaxing and most enjoyable Lunch at the Docks today. We ordered our beers and were deciding about what to eat and discussed what we had before when mine host mentioned the chef had just made some home made Faggots. We thought, why not give them a try. Had not had faggots for a long time. It was a superb decision as they were really delicious, well made with lots of flavour and very filling. they were accompanied with mash, cabbage, roast carrots and parsnips topped with gravy. A great recommendation and at such a reasonable price. Well done Chef and mine host for the suggestion :) The secret is out now!!!

Our family group came over the border from Dorset for lunch in Somerset at the Dinnington docks . Perfect village pub. I love the bar area with old mullion windows and sunlight streaming in . Great selection of beer and local cider on tap. Friendly, relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. Waitress /bar maid was superb. Interesting menu and quality meals, not your average pub grub. Lovely pub garden. I never understand why this place is not more popular! Undiscovered gem.

Came with the family for a meal on our anniversary. A little underwhelmed. Food was hit and miss. I had rump of lamb which came very rare, not offered a preference for cooking. Had to ask for steak knife for steak, could have done with them for the lamb as well which I found quite chewy. Waitress a little confused as to what was on offer at times. Pleasant evening but I feel could have been better.

Stayed for two nights in our Motorhome for n order to have Sunday lunch and catch up with friends who live locally. The welcome from the landlord and his staff could not have been warmer. Friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. Plenty of real ales and local cider to choose from and a great menu. Sunday lunch was plentiful and very tasty. A local band was playing in the afternoon and we all got involved ininvolved in a sing song well into the evening. The locals weee also warm and welcoming. Thanks you all for your hospitality and a great weekend. See you again soon.

Great lunch here last Weds. Took two visiting friends. Two of us had the sausage mash and veg with thick gravy. One had the fish and chips and the other a burger but a very nice burger with gorgeous chips. All cooked well altho my husband would have preferred petit pois to crushed peas. Service was good and they were very busy.

I wrote a Google review after our visit last Sunday (21st January) and the owner wrote back to me asking me to message him. I obliged and he explained the whole situation. That he had spent the day in hospital with his father, they had a new start, and staff off sick. He then asked me to come back to the Docks, and to take my review down. Initially I wanted to wait till I had visited to either take my review down, or to change it, however after the second time that he asked me to take the review down, I did. After that he stopped responding to me. To me, this shows that the poor customer service I experienced when walking through the door to the Docks is the expected standard. Attached is my initial review, and screenshots of the conversation the owner and I had. Severely disappointed as I have heard great things about the food (not that I ever got to try any), what a shame the customer service is so bad.

We've been to The Docks several times but our last visit was disappointing. I ordered the Chichen breast risotto, I asked for some parmesan cheese as the risotto was not very creamy and was given grated cheddar! My dessert, sticky toffee pudding was delicious and good size portion. The young waitress was charming but there was no atmosphere in the pub. The lady serving drinks was not wecoming. We were the only ones left 9.00 pm.

Honestly the best place to eat by far, we first discovered Dinnington docks while on hoilday in 2021 when I was pregnant in the November and both my partner and I fell in love with food and how friendly the staff where! November 2023 and we are back on holiday with our little man in tow, the staff were so kind to him and even brought his chips out for him before our mains so he could munch and be happy! The food was amazing as usual. Roll on our next holiday so we can visit again! Thankyou to all the staff who made sure our little man was comfortable at the table!

We had previously visited in October but returned with friends to celebrate three of our birthdays, staying the night in our motorhomes. Matt is a fab host and the team he has there are second to none. The food was superb, served by friendly staff. This is in the perfect position, being roughly halfway between London and the South West, being a matter of minutes from the A303 Ilminster by-pass, to take a short break from the journey (or perhaps a longer one 🤣) A proper pub, dog friendly, selling a variety of Beers, ciders , wines and spirits accompanied by an eclectic menu that caters for everyone and a surprising twist to its origins and history which I shall leave a secret. Quintessential British. Malc, Suzie and Nellie the poodle.

This is a fabulous hidden gem with excellent service and food in a traditional ‘No frills’ pub. The menu is way more than just ‘pub grub’ although that is available if you fancy . I can thoroughly recommend their homemade pie! Sunday lunch is one of the best I’ve had and we have celebrated several family birthdays there . Plenty of parking and a warm welcome greets you . Lovely surprise to see such an interesting, varied menu, so much so, it was tough to choose. In the end I opted for the Ox Cheek (a first for me) and wow it was absolutely delicious. Left with mixed feelings about our evening out. The positives were that the chef took a lot of trouble to make a lovely Waldorf salad for one of our group who is vegetarian and gluten free. The mushroom dish was also very good and the chips were great. The fish and chips were disappointing as the amount of actual fish under the batter was minuscule. Our order was mixed up so we were initially presented with venison burgers instead of the vegetarian burgers we had ordered. Also the fish and chips were forgotten and we had to ask what had happened to that order. The young waitress was very attentive, polite and helpful however the lady in charge was not particularly friendly or welcoming. So overall rather a mixed experience - a shame because most of food was nice.

We visited for the first time today for Sunday lunch with our 10 month old and every single thing was brilliant! The food was beautiful, lovely location and the service absolutely perfect! Never been anywhere that’s so family oriented and welcoming as Dinnington Docks, they did our daughter a little bowl of her own lunch and noticed when she dropped her water beaker off the high chair and washed it up and refilled it for her. Taking babies/children out for a meal can sometimes be a bit stressful, we were so grateful that it was a brilliant experience all round which is down to the fab staff! We’ll definitely be returning, such a lovely place to have on our doorstep!

We came in on spec and were a bit concerned about the muddy country road to the pub, but when we got there, what a delight!! We were a bit put out by the grumpy barmaid with grey hair but the other blonde barmaid (could be her sister?) was an absolute delight, having some great banter with us and making us feel really at home. There was a bunch of old men at the bar drinking real ale, they were quite friendly too. I had a fish pie and my partner had soup, both absolutely delicious and not too expensive. We both had the local scrumpy which we enjoyed. I can't recommend this place highly enough!! We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

In the area on holiday, we decided to stop by this pub to eat after reading several positive reviews. Our visit started well with nice drinks and a nice welcome. But as our visit continued the pub filled up with people most. Of whom seemed to know each other. We started feeling as though we had intruded upon a private members club or something similar. Eventually a rather brusque lady took our order for food and bustled away before we could ask any questions about the menu. We waited over 40 minutes for our food to arrive only to discover that one dish was not what we had ordered. The food served wasn't particularly hot and at best was only of a very mediocre standard. It's a shame that our visit started on a positive note and then rapidly deteriorated into just a very ordinary and uninspiring experience because it's a nice little pub with a really lovely sunny garden to the rear. The disparity between our actual experience and some of the super positive reviews noted on trip advisor leads us to be suspicious of their authenticity. Overall we will not be returning here since we have subsequently discovered much better and more professional experiences elsewhere in the immediate local area. This place is slightly overpriced, absolutely not that special at all and probably should be avoided in our humble opinion.

The food served was excellent, the helpings generous and the price was economical. Sadly this has all now changed. The food is bland and expensive, the locals have disappeared and it seems that the place is full of arrogant loud mouthed people. I'm not bothering with this place anymore it's a mere shadow of what it once was. What a shame!

Excellent dinner. Railway themed premises. Good menu choices which were well cooked and presented. Of particular note the lemon Eton Mess was an interesting twist on an old favourite. Whilst off the beaten track this is an establishment well worth travelling too.

We stayed here as a recommendation from a well known motorhome stopover website, but would not hesitate to recommend this pub to everyone! Brilliant place to stopover in a motorhome, but a genuinely lovely pub for everyone. We felt very welcomed by staff and locals alike, and although arrived very late in the evening, we had been advised that we could order food ahead if we liked. Bar menu looked very good and well priced, and the ale and cider selection was second to none. Not to mention the gin shelf...... A bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit and we will be back.

Three of us had a lovely meal here [like the idea of smaller portions to leave room for pudding!] The service was great and the staff welcoming and friendly. Many thanks to all.

Having been to Dinnington Docks several years ago, and at that time it could not be bettered, having returned recently the size of the meal had dropped quite noticeably, so we returned again, just to see if it was a one off. No, it wasn't, the portion was quite small, the mushy peas looked anemic, and it was not cheap.

Called in on the off chance last night as heard it had changed hands. The place was packed and we wish we'd booked. Nevertheless they found a table for us and we had some superb food. Fish and chips, gammon and faggots. Totally recommended. Lovely food and atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit but if want to eat and dont want to risk not being able to because they are so busy, then you should book!! Well done and thank you for a lovely meal.

New owners have transformed this pub into a real local home from home - with great food and superb beer and wine list. Great value dining from pub classics to restaurant quality food for a special occasion. It's the perfect place to relax and spend time with friends and family and would highly recommend the docks, both a quick super or a full-on meal!! Well done....a great pub

On a long walk today and I stopped here for a beer. I’m well impressed. It’s 13.45 on a weekday and the place is busy, with diners and locals at the bar. What a lovely pub.

I was sceptical visiting ‘The Docks’ as l’d not been there for quite some time. Having heard new people had taken it over, l kept an open mind. I have to say l was very pleasantly surprised. The fish and chips l had was amazing and my husbands steak was quality....

Popped in last night after the place we tried was closed- very happy that we did. Lovely pub which clearly is very popular with the locals but extremely welcoming to others too!

The Docks has received a gentle make-over, which makews it lighter and brighter. The menu is small and sensible, pub classics with extras. Friendly welcome - though the new owners were not visible- and a very nice lunch indeed, freshly cooked.

Booked for dinner but on arrival, they thought we had booked for buffet, fortunately they had a table for us within a short time so we had a pre-dinner drink in the bar, which is fabulous and then went for a lovely meal in the Bistro, it is a small and intimate restaurant and quite modern and food is served on hot rocks, which you cook yourself to your own taste. Nice concept and food was really lovely BUT find that it gets pretty smoky when it is very busy. This is not a unique concept to us and it was a very nice change. Service was attentive and good and wine selection is great. Little pub at the Langport Arms is friendly and wonderful for pre or post drinks too.

Simply the best Fish and Chip shop around. You can get most of the menu as a gluten free option too. The staff are fantastic too. Thank you everyone for your wonderful service 😍

What a delightful place to stay at. We stayed for a couple of nights to visit the surrounding area and had the friendliest welcome and comfortable stay. James, the waiter in the evening, was a credit to them. He helped you choose what to eat and was attentive and friendly. The food was outstanding, especially the fish dishes. The breakfast was the best we have ever had and was cooked to order with local produce. Cannot wait to return.

The chip shop has been closed for a while due to staff going on holiday. Last night we very much enjoyed our chips, chicken and curry sauce.
