Heather and Alan hosted our sons engagement party. They where so helpful and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for looking after us so well and making our evening a very special one. Karaoke was such fun. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back for another party. Thank you both. Xxx

We were staying locally and dropped by for a quick pint and glass of wine, we were warmly welcomed by Heather and her husband. Good selection of beers and lagers, as I prefer ale, was well happy with the Otter, which was fresh and well presented, my better half loved the wine, and there is a good selection available. The pub has recently been refurbished, and is very comfortable. There is free pool on offer along with a good dart board, there are also board games so the owners are catering for families. The pub is open Thursday 5-10 pm, Friday & Saturday 4-11pm. Would recommend booking for Friday and Saturday if you want to have a meal. The menu is an excellent range of burgers or fish and chips, although Heather is always looking to increase the variety. We had the southern fried chicken burger with chips and small side salad with coleslaw which was excellent. Prices are very reasonable so a good night out won't break the bank. We were only staying for a week so having this lovely pub made our holiday and we can't wait to come back if we are lucky enough to stay again.

Found this place purely by accident and really glad I did Didn’t have a great deal of time as I was performing with The Anja G Band at St Nicholas church a few doors down The pub accommodated both myself and the drummer Dermot James with a cooked meal mine being (scampi and chips )which was served quickly. The service was excellent and the food prepared well. Thanks so much 🙏🏽

Can not recommend this pub enough, great owners, fabulous food at good prices. Welcomed atmosphere with plenty of games to entertain the whole family. Honestly one of the friendliest places I have come across. If your ever near it's a must to visit 😁

This is a wonderful pub. We had a very warm welcome from the owner and team. Our dog was made particularly welcome with biscuits, water and a lot of fuss from staff and customers.

Lovely place for good quality food. Owners were really helpful as our youngest was feeling great and they were nice to talk to.

Dropped in, on the off chance and greeted with a smile and a lovely welcome. Tapas was very good, as was the Tribute. Personally, I prefer pubs to be a little warmer ... but that's just me, as I feel the cold. Would definitely go again. Lovely people and early days for them ... I wish them well.

I'm so happy the newly refurbished Green Dragon has started serving food. I had a delicious halloumi burger there tonight and I loved the presentation (and nice crockery), even the side salad had clearly been put together with care and a very tasty dressing! Currently the menu is limited, especially for vegetarians, but the quality is good so I would certainly recommend. Update: they have stopped doing meals now after just a few weeks which is a real shame 😕

Had the most gorgeous dinner at the newly renovated Green Dragon - beautiful interior and atmosphere (the bar is stunning!), fantastic selection of drinks, and the most delicious food at excellent value! Had the amazing Dragon Burger - double Powderham Castle Estate beef patties, double bacon, double cheese, the crispiest onion rings and chips, and a salad dressing to die for! Very impressive vegetarian and vegan options as well! Absolutely worth a detour if you're in the area!

First night for us down at the newly renovated Green Dragon and what a treat it was! Amazing staff a good selection of beers, even for the more discerning/annoying of the group, and we were the first patrons of the freshly opened kitchen, thanks for a lovely evening!

OK ish, new adventure for owners but need something to give it a chance, felt very much like IKEA shop .

Not like a country pub more like a cafe E

Tried to book today, but was told that Covid-19 has ruined the business, so they have had to shut. What a pity.

We were staying nearby at Pole Rue Farm cottages and saw that this was the closest pub. It had recently re-opened after the Covid-19 lockdown, but we had pre-booked for Sunday lunch and everything was very well organised. Sunday lunch was good value and very tasty! Highly recommended. We also returned during our stay on a weekday night (the eat out to help out scheme was running) - again we had pre-booked and everything was well organised. Good choices on the menu and a friendly atmosphere. Well worth going to if you are staying in the area!

My wife and I live close to this fantastic pub and we always have fantastic hospitality, excellent food and service. The pub has perfected the social distancing that we have to do currently without it impacting on peoples enjoyment. Friendly staff and owners. Plus the owners have some lovely friendly dogs too!!!

Quintessential, friendly village pub with great value restaurant.

As this was about half way for to meet our families we thought we’d book this for my brothers 60th birthday lunch. Lovely clean place, staff were friendly and the food was enjoyed by all of us. Hopefully it won’t be long before we will return

This is a great pub. Food is amazing and portions always generous. There is always something going on here and new menu ideas and offers. The landlord is great and very hands on and attentive. Best pub in the area by far

My wife and I went last night as we had heard that Vic and Clair had introduced a vegan menu. What can I say?! Amazing. Real thought has been put into the menu with plenty of choice and flavours! If you are vegan or considering trying, this is a must try, i recommend the breaded mushrooms and also the vegan halloumi! As always, excellent staff, relaxed surroundings and excellent staff. Top marks!

Came to visit my family with my fiancee for my 23rd birthday. All our food was superb and staff very friendly, especially the waitress, did very well managing all the tables! (Visited friday 21st feb at around half 6 till about 8ish, 9 ish.) Fab vegan/veggie food and meat food too for my family. My brother is not eating a lot at the moment due to wanting to be slimmer and the pub didnt mind him having a bannana,although we felt awful but didnt want him to miss out being with us all together! So it was lovely he could join us and not feel judged for just having a bannana like he wanted. Thank you so much for making our evening a great one! Have been before when down my parents, and will most definitely return again and again xxxx

Visited again for dinner.. still really good food Had a burger for a change but it is no normal burger. Knickerbocker glory finished the dinner. Well worth a visit superb food

We found this pub having done a search on Trip advisor. My partner is a Coeliac, thus requires gluten free food. We normally accept the gluten free options provided when new to a area, as it can be a bit hit or miss and sometimes limited to jacket potatos or ham, egg and chips. Well on this occasion we hit gold. A lovely friendly atmosphere on arrival in the bar and we were shown to the table that we had booked earlier by phone. The restaurant area has a nice atmosphere to it with fun pictures or cows and various other animals. Great range of Ales, Ciders, Wines and other drinks. The food was delicious and they are use to catering for gluten free requirements.. My partner had Chicken in a cider sauce served free wonderfully fresh seasonal veg and I had the Cod and Chips which was exceptional. We both had their Dark Chocolate and Cherry Eton Mess which was yummy. Great food and good friendly helpful service. We'll be back no doubt !

Excellent locals 2 bar pub with nice real ales and great food. Worth a visit especially as such a pleasant landlord and clientele.

Mum and I were travelling to chard from Kent for a hen do this weekend. We stopped here hoping for some lunch and a quick drink for a break from the car!! Unfortunately they weren’t doing food but thought we’d have a drink anyway just for a break. When we arrived we were immediately made to feel unwelcome, as we weren’t locals, due to staring from the barman (assuming landlord) and his customers. We were told very quickly and rudely that they weren’t doing good, and were fully booked for that evening (even though we hadn’t asked about dinner) and that we’d be best to look elsewhere!! The entire time we were finishing our drinks we were being watched by the Barman and nobody spoke, literally dead silence. When we walked out to leave we had eyes following us, and the barman staring at us through the window when we got to the car. All in all a very weird and uncomfortable experience in what (on trip advisor) was deemed a good place.

A group of about 25 of us went here for meals to celebrate the Golden Wedding ,the meals were fantastic ,very well presented cooked to the likes,very good sized portions and very reasonably priced, customer service brilliant and credit goes to the Chef the waiters and all who made it a very pleasant night would definatly recommend it here .

booked a table for three on sunday 30 june2019 at 12 noon, the lady who served us was very friendly we ordered roast beef and our drinks,in half an hour it was served piping hot ,2 lots of veg,cauliflower,carrots ,peas,large plate of roast potatoes,big jug of gravy,plenty for all three of us the girl who served us asked if alls well after about 10mins,the beef was cooked to perfection,great service great food worth the money,we had sticky toffee pudding x2 and apple/berry crumble with custard absolutely fantastic that was the best sunday lunch we have had in a long time,i do recommendthis place vic and clair do a great job ,nice amostphere,and the girls who serve you the dishes are very attentive well worth the money ,book early people will be going back soon and it was busy,

Needed to stop on way from Cornwall, found The Green dragon on Deb's phone. Great little pub, friendly staff and locals; restaurant was full so had to eat in the bar. Both had the roast pork, excellent and loads of meat and vegetables. Will be back on our next trip. Gary & Debbie, Bedfordshire.

Delicious, beautifully cooked and presented food. 'Gastropub' quality at village pub prices! Still great value at The Green Dragon's usual menu price of £10.50 on other days. Well worth a visit and they serve delicious (home made) ice cream as part of a wide ranging dessert menu. 10/10 for food and service.

Having recently acquired a holiday cottage in the village, we like to try as many local pubs and restaurants as we can during the few occasions we get to use the cottage ourselves and recommend them to our clients. This time I decided to take my Wife and Mother in Law to The Green Dragon. She can be very critical so I held my breath but I needn't have worried. Though it was mid week, the ambience within the restaurant was lovely and the place is tastefully decorated and furnished. With a good fire on the go and cold wet weather outside, we enjoyed an excellent meal. It arrived in good time, was well presented and our waitress was very polite and efficient. Even the Mother in Law was well impressed. Will be back again soon.

Bar is well stocked also the menus are food of choice. The portions are a good size, especially there desserts. You won't be going home feeling peckish. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is a good place to stay and relax.

We booked a Valentines Night evening meal and from the onset it was a delight. The restaurent was laid out with cosy tables for two candlelit and very welcoming. The food was excellent with great staff service friendly and couldn't do enough for us. I have to say well beyond expectations and worth of a five star establishment. The single red rose presented at the end of the meal was a nice touch!

I visited this establishment one day last month and I was absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated. I am not from Combe St Nicolas so this pub is not my local, I have friends which do live in Combe and recommended this pub to me. One thing is for sure, I will never be stepping through them doors again!

My partner and I haven't been to this pub for a while but we have always liked it. Today, a cold winters day in January, we decided to pop in at around 4.30 an unusual time! We walked into an invitingly warm bar that has been beautifully redecorated. I am blown away by just how gorgeous this bar is, the log burner throwing out magnificent heat, the soft lighting adding to a very homely ambiance. We chose to sit in the very comfortable leather chairs arranged cozily around the fire and I shipped my chosen red wine in perfect bliss. Thank you Vic and Claire you have certainly done a great job and Bob made sure that the fire was stoked and that we were comfortable.

Friendly atmosphere and service as well as very good food, Sunday roast was great with good choice of vegetables and plenty of roast potatoes. Would recommend and return.

Had lunch here today, 28/11/18. It was so very delicious, homemade veggie lasagne. Very cheesy and full of gorgeous med veg. My partners beef one was also amazing she said. My brother enjoyed his beef burger. Homemadd ice cream is to die for too!!! Polite and friendly waiter too

Had Sunday lunch here today. Mum and I had visited before mid week. Had a great Sunday lunch. Really tasty roast beef and all the trimmings. Plenty of everything. We enjoyed it very much. The Bakewell tart with ice cream was fantastic. We will definitely be back. Thank you very much.

Poor reception whilst parking to visit properties adjoining this Public House

Came on a Wednesday evening and ate in the restaurant. It was very quiet only 2 others here but we didn’t feel uncomfortable or like the waiting staff were lingering as can often happen when places aren’t busy. The place is very clean and nicely decorated with a modern feel. Drinks were quite expensive and there were a couple of items not available that we weren’t advised before choosing which was annoying. Food was delicious and plentiful. Would recommend having the garlic “loaf” as a side.

Had a really nice Sunday roast today, roast turkey and beef with lots of fresh veg an Yorkshire puddings loads too eat, I plumped for the home made bread and butter pudding just like my gran used too make with lashings of tasty custard..

Ww were visiting our daughter who had just moved into the village. In a nutshell: we had a warm welcome, a decent pint and good food. We'll be back for sure.

We have been going to the Green Dragon for several weeks on Sundays and have always enjoyed their roast dinners - well cooked, and good variety of veg. Good portion sizes. Have also eaten here at lunch times and evenings - sirloin steak is delicious. Would highly recommend.

Inexpensive good home cooked food and a good pint for me and a nice cuppa for her... A good seltiln of food in offer all at very reasonable prices and I'd recommend their home made ice cream, very yummy.

Evening meal with the family in a lovely quiet country pub. Really nice lay out and SUPER friendly staff. More then happy to accommodate for my 87yr old nan who pretty much made up her own meal! No problem at all and all done with a smile and a friendly face! Most certainly the friendliest pub in the village! Highly recommend

We called in to the Green Dragon, diverting from the A303 on the long journey back from London to Plymouth. We wanted lunch for two , and arrived at 13:55 , just before 2pm. Having been welcomed before it was a great surprise and disappointment to be dismissed at the outset with a 'we're fully booked' (but there were many empty tables evident and it was just the TWO of us) then the barmaid said - lunch is all over at 2 anyway. I have rarely felt so summarily dismissed with little thought or consideration for our long journey and the fact that we had taken a substantial diversion from our journey precisely because of a good previous experience here and the reviews. She didn't even offer a drink. Poor . We wouldn't go back. Good luck to any who wish to take a chance .

I was taken here for my birthday when we got there the pub was packed for the England match this made for a very noisy evening.

Gutes Essen, besonders die Cider-Soße zum Hühnchen war super. Freundliche Bedienung, und ein super Cider aus Somerset hat unser Herz bewegt.

Whatever the occasion, this place is fantastic value with friendly approachable helpful staff. The steak nights are fantastic value. The portion sizes are great value for money.

We visited Chard from Wales this week for my brother-in-law's birthday. We took them to The Green Dragon for lunch as was so impressed with our last visit. Excellent meal and service. Would recommend yet again.

Very young staff - underage for drinking it would appear, but great service notwithstanding. The food was great, the prices slightly on the high side but overall a great experience

Visiting Chard from Wales to take my sister in law & hubby out for lunch to celebrate their 48th anniversary. Lovely staff and excellent choice of meals. My sister in law is gluten free and vegetarian but had a choice of meals. All our meals were piping hot,fresh & delicious. Would recommend this place and will be returning on our next visit to Chard

Best little boozer for miles! Great food, well kept beers and ciders, friendly welcome (dogs too) and log fires. What more do you need?

Another visit to this friendly family pub . Very helpful and polite the food and service was just as good , the main bar has been changed into the resturant area which works really well . Going back in may and have already booked our table , they also have a robbie Williams tribute act on that night . Looking forward to it .

Went to Green Dragon today with wife and had an excellent Sunday Lunch. My wife had Beef and I had Turkey the meals were very good. Cooked to perfection. If you want to have one of the best roasts going in this area head here.

Our party of four had a great meal - good value for money, well cooked and customised as I'm a bit of a fussy eater! Great selection of beers, gins, soft drinks. We were well looked after by the polite and attentive waitress and will definitely return soon. Thank you to all the staff for a great evening.

Accommodation is lovely with our room being very clean and comfy. Meals are wonderful using local produce and hand made. Staff are helpful and friendly, overall a very pleasant stay at somewhere we will definitely return.

My first impression on reading the name was Chinese how wrong was it was a very British pub and restaurant it took a little while for us to order as the menu was very good when the food arrived the starter was nearly as big as a main in some places don't be put off it was really nice the main arrived And that was excellent unfortunately as the portion size was generous we were unable to sample the desert menu i thoroughly recommend this pub/restaurant
