Lovely welcome. Manager Chaim & staff very friendly and efficient. I love a Chicken Ceasar Salad washed down with a good Sauvignon Blanc when I'm on holiday and this didn't disappoint. Very good value for money. The Ham with the egg & chips was cut nice & thick. Would definitely come back here again!

Visited twice during a weeks holiday. We and our dog were made very welcome by Chaim who looked after us both visits. Food was great. Lovely pub nice atmosphere, tables nicely spaced out, made for a lovely relaxed dinner. We would definitely visit again

We were a table of 12 for an 18th birthday. The meal was delicious and enjoyed by all. The service was brilliant. Our waiter, Khaim, was very assertive and very helpful, would definitely go there again.

Had a pleasant visit to this friendly pub last Thursday, very nice staff and Mike the manager made us welcome.The selection of ales was good and the Thatchers Gold was excellent. Will visit next time we are in the area

Food was fine, however I was charged £3 for 3 onion rings as an additional side to my already £14 burger. Madness

The food was okay, but it certainly wasn't good enough for me to clean my plate. Nice that the meat is sourced locally. The staff were faultless, no waiting around and very friendly. The prices were super reasonable, so I'd consider going again and trying their burgers as they looked really good.

Stopped in the globe for a catch up with a friend there was a few people in there and there was a pleasant atmosphere so decided to order some food , a lovely meal and excellent service

Phoebe and Taisha as well as Georgie always make for a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Delicious food very well priced. We eat hear roughly 4x per week. Highly recommend

Hands down the worst Sunday dinner I've experienced. Food was not up to standard. But the main problem was the landlady. And her rudness! The way she spoke to us as a family is out of order. I would avoid this place at all costs. Unless you like under cooked food and rude staff

Underwhelming food. Pork had fat not crackling. Vegetables overcooked, gravy prob from a packet. Vegan wellington a burning hot puree/mush in a flabby pastry parcel. Wasn't expecting fine dining at this price, but still below par. However service was excellent, location good for our get together and the atmosphere good, though the flickering lights prob better for Halloween!

On a day visit to Somerton we stopped here for lunch. Great pub, lovely food and great service from our waitress Phoebe! Would definitely return if in the area again.

Had the roast pork for my birthday, was delicious. The roast potatoes let the meal down a bit as they were hard but the exceptional pork belly and big Yorkshire pudding made up for it. Interesting choice of vegetables- I was here for it. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the till which lead to me being charged for other members of my part meals and having to drive back to the pub while my two 1 year olds were due in bed to get the money refunded as that family had already paid.

We Use this Pub quite often and we are never disappointed. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Been in at lunch and dinner time. The food is great for the value and is presented well on the plate or Platter. Pudding are a nice size not to big or little. Lots of different places to sit depending on who your with, quiet or busy bits of the pub or outside. Something to suit everyone

Once again the fish and chips are the star of the show. At 50 (and having travelled a bit) I haven’t had better. Nothing here that will disappoint the family or foodies or sports fans .. a pool table, screens (but not ‘in your face’) and really fantastic friendly staff. Where do they get them from? Summer garden, winter evening open fires. Good, fair prices. A real credit to one of the most beautiful market towns in Somerset.

The welcome was friendly enough and I can't fault the staff, but the choice of seating was between a freezing conservatory with an open door right by the table, a small table still in the draught from the conservatory, or the bar area. The bar area was nice and warm but it stank from the kitchen smells and was really noisy from Friday evening drinkers - I don't want to be a killjoy and it was a good-nstured crowd but we could hardly hear each other over the racket. Unfortunately, when the food turned up, it was very disappointing - the burger had a lot of gristle, the bun was straight out of a supermarket and the chips (advertised as "skin on fries") looked suspiciously like frozen oven chips. The beer was very good, so all in all, it might be a good place for a quick drink but I wouldn't recommend eating there.

Mind boggling experience. Never again! I took my son and his nan for a meal to say thank you. Sat down and ordered a round of drinks, ordered food a couple of mins later. The pool table was empty and my son really wanted to go on it for a few minutes while we waited for our meals. I asked at the bar if we could use the pool que. He said we needed to leave £5 deposit to borrow them. 1 small problem, i only had £5 in change and the machine takes coins. I explained the change situation and asked if i could give him the £4 as the deposit so i could use the £1 to get the balls from the machine. Obviously didnt imagine this being an issue as id just ordered 3 adult meals and a round of drinks, aswell as about to spend plenty more on further drinks and deserts. But no point blank refused to accept a £1 less deposit for the few minutes we would spend on the pool table. He was a young lad so i asked if he could ask his manager and explain the situation. To my amazement she came out and said they wouldnt accept the £1 less deposit. As "if they did it for me everyone would want to do it". I found the whole situation completley ridiculous and embarressing, it obviously upset my son and all for the sake of them holding a £1 less deposit. I cancelled the food and we went to a different restaurant with much better customer service. Worked out fine for us, but as far as business sense goes... they lost out on at least £100 on food and drink tonight, and lost 3 local customers for the sake of accepting a £1 less deposit for 5 minutes so we could put a coin in the table... go figure! 🤷🏻 Just a bit of advice for the future.. maybe offer to take a payment on card or hold onto the customers card if the £1 difference means that much to you 👍

We had the Sunday slow roasted belly pork 😋 it was absolutely delicious... Good portion although a few extra roasties would of been nice. The gravy was the best I've ever tasted even better than my own, we had the belly pork bites to start with yes please they were the best will definitely be back soon

Excellent service, good food, and large portions (go there hungry). Nice touch of paprika in the [home made] onion rings. Mrs P's Cajun veggie burger certainly looked home made, and she tells me the spicing was bang on. Recommended. Update May 2023, popped in for some "tapa style" food after coming back from Devon - review still stands.

A Saturday night pub-grub visit with friends, but on this trip oddly it seemed as if every member of staff was about 15! Not quite sure where the regular staff were, but it was like a scene from Oliver! Food was fair, but thought we'd been overcharged and wanted to query the bill, but there was no itemised receipt available apparently.

Yesterday I went to the pub with my dad and I asked for a alcoholic drink and I got asked for ID which I’m perfectly fine with but I didn’t have it on me and the girl serving us didn’t let my dad vouch for me he was saying that I am over the age but she wasn’t having any of it

Really nice! Friendly staff, pool table room is fab! Lovely little outside area as well with heaters. Had the sharing board and it was lovely - so quick to come out as well. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Proper pub, good food, good prices.

We had been coming here for a while but no longer. We were chased around the pub by the staff while finding a seat very abbrassive and rude by a heavy set short hair blonde lady. POOR customer service.

Entered the pub to go and find a table like usual for food and drinks to be hollered at and chased down by a older white/blonde haired woman from behind the bar. She was Very abrupt and felt quite hostile and divided the group on if we should stay or just go to the white hart.

The bar lady was so friendly despite being on her own front of house. The food was really good too.

I was in a group booking, but we were put in the bar area. First of all we had a very long wait for the food, it was very cold. Food was terrible, yorkshire puddings,you could not get your knife through it brussels awful, as well as the stuffing. Terrible, just awful.

Lovelly pub and setting however very agressive female manager as stated in previous reviews. We had a family event and parted with alot of cash which ended up in upset after the bad customer service. All the young members of staff were pleasent and food was good but it was a shame that the actions of one member of staff ruined the event. We expressed our concerns to the owner, however the owner stated that the agressive manager was not on shift that night which was really strange as we noticed her directing the other staff and we were recieving a service from her which were included in alot of our videos that we recorded of the event. This is an honest review on our bad experience from only one member of staff in The globe. Such a shame. Thank you to the owner for listening to our complaint.

Went for a festive meal last night (Wed 7th Dec"22), with 12 people. Xmas meal was nice and xmas puds, with custard, and custard brandy sauce.

Went in for Saturday late lunch. Park outside or at car park opposite for 1 hour Mon-Sat 9-6 (I think) or to stay for longer park on Broad Street We ordered sandwiches and my sister ordered the belly pork starter... We all tried it and I ordered 2 more. So good!

Classic British pub. Nice Vibe, very nice staff and catered for baby and dog. Good selection of drinks too.

Visited as member of rockabilly band Uptown Cats providing live music. Pub is deceptively large with an outdoor area to the rear. Lots of character. Local rugby team members added to the "craic". (unable to comment on food or drink as not consumed)

Very welcoming staff as we started skittling up here on Friday nights, was wonderful skittle food provided thanks again.

We had the Globe Burger (beef patty) and Portabello Mushroom and Halloumi Burger. Both very tasty and good value. Would dine here again.

The food was nice and good value however the tables weren't cleaned at all and the atmosphere was dull. The young lady who served us was great and very friendly but there was another lady who seemed to have quite an aggressive nature. She questioned, an elderly gentleman with his wife in a loud voice, in front of other customers, who was intending to pay the bill. The old guy thought his daughter had paid but he paid up once he knew. However, she was quite stroppy about it. I would not choose this place to eat again.

Good local pub. Nice people and decent food. Beer is well kept generally and a reasonable range is served. Good ambience and nice beer garden at the back. Generally, a pleasant low key place for going out.

Me and my mate fished the viaduct fishery in Somerset for 5 days and we went to the globe, the first time we went the young lady made us really welcome. The food was excellent, the fish and chips were to die for. We had double portions it was that nice. This pub is an excellent place to eat!! We are going again next year and this is the place we can't wait to visit again!!!

Sadly I was disappointed. I didn't enjoy my Sunday lunch. Didn't have any taste and the meat was not good. Was visiting the area, so probably wouldn't be back

Came for dinner at the weekend with my children at 5pm, unfortunately we had to cut it short due to the really awful language and shouting from other drinkers making one of my children cry. Food was mediocre. A Couple of young women working who were really polite, good service.

Please ignore this review. I was next door at the White Heart, not at the Globe! Sorry Globe! Fancy menu but was very average meal. Made a nice change and definitely was not bad...but not somewhere I'll be rushing back to.

A really lovely pub in heart of Castle Carey. Staff are very friendly, good selection of beers and the food is superb. Have the Wild Boat Pie, fabulous. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous outside space and really friendly staff! I only ate chips alongside a drink but they were proper homemade and absolutely excellent. A great pub with great quality food at a steal in this area. I look forward to many more visits.

Once a 17th-century cider house, this is now a traditional country pub/restaurant with some decent views over the Somerset Levels. The main bar area has a flag stoned floor with a grand inglenook fireplace that burns with warming logs come the winter. There is an adjoining recently refurbished and comfortable restaurant now with large opening doors that lead onto the garden for summer use. Now part of the Butcombe brewery chain, the real ales, qualifying with ease for the Cask Marque accreditation awarded, were on this day in noble condition. The number of ales available may vary however, from one to three. The restaurant is a more modern addition to this 200 year old pub (first licence granted 1814). Excellent food is served with a changing specials board in addition to the main menu. My visit on this day, was to register the visit by scanning the Cask Marque Certificate and meeting friends who were themselves, formerly successful publicans, for lunch. Without equivocation, we three can avow, the reception was efficient, the Covid precautions were reassuring, the ale (see above) and the food presentation and salubrity, very agreeable. This made for a very agreeable lunch, because I chose the venue and my friends are a picky pair - quick to find fault. Return visits by all of us are assured.

We had a very good Sunday dinner here , they very kindly let 6 of us in without a booking and were warm and welcoming.
