Fabulous pub,great atmosphere There is a charity rockabilly /rock and roll wkend on the 22/24th march

This is a hidden gem which has quickly become our ‘most go to’ pub for its warm character, exceptional ale, great food and fabulous owners. The White Horse has everything you would want in a country pub and being relatively new to the area we’ve fallen for it’s charm. The Landlady and Landlord are a great couple - you’ll get a warm welcome but be prepared for banter!

It was the first time we had been to the White horse, we went with family and friends while doing our Christmas run. Wow, what a great night. the food, loco people and the atmosphere was brilliant. we had a great night, great food and was made to feel very welcome by everyone.

Lovely pub,lots to look at and a lovely beer garden

Popped in for a pint so cannot comment on the food served there but over heard the comments from people that had eaten there and they all said if was very good. The atmosphere of the pub was very good with no angst apparent. The barmaid on the night was friendly and took time to have a chat. All in all a lovely place to spend a few hours relaxing in a lovely environment, a place to give a visit too and hopefully you’ll have a great evening as I did!

Lovely garden and great real ale!

Called in for a quick pint last night and got chatting with the locals. Ended up eating there and enjoyed best ever ham egg and chips. My partner had the veggie burger which was also excellent. Varied menu, vegetarian options, huge portions, good beer and ciders - this is what traditional pubs should be like.

One of the best things about the White Horse .. apart from the food which is excellent .. and the ale .. the music .. and the eclectic decor - is the Landlady and Landlord. Something that always sets pubs apart is character and both the couple that run this establishment and the olde worlde Bar has this a-plenty! Always a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere and we applaud them for battling through the legacy of that damn pandemic. Oh, Did I mention how good the ale is?

Excellent venue...I have visited several times over the last few years- Sunday roasts are excellent and such great value.

I would give the place 2* however the food was good so it will bring the average up. However, the staff were really not keen to serve you nor were they friendly or Knowledgeable about their dishes. The atmosphere was completely dead! We were the only people there and it still took a long time for us to be looked after. The food was tasty and the portions were massive! However, I wouldn't return here again.

Warm welcome, helpful service, we had booked a table for 3. Lots of choice on the menu at reasonable prices. Well cooked, tasty. Worth a visit. Pub taken over just before covid...the proprietors merit success. Themed events to come.

A family run local pub offering good food and a wide range of drinks in a nice surroundings

Very friendly owners and staff; great atmosphere and truly exceptional Thai chicken curry. Good chat with some of the locals - we will definitely be returning next time we're in Dorset. This pub is a real gem!

Met up with family at this pub for lunch. Made to feel very welcome. Good food and plenty of it. The chicken, bacon and avocado jacket potato was really delicious and those who had burgers really enjoyed them too. Pub has a children's menu with generous portions. The beer drinkers among us enjoyed a localish brew and commented that they knew how to look after their beer at this pub!

Popped by for some food on a Saturday lunchtime. Good food, friendly service and nice choice of ales. Sat in the garden but looks like the pub itself would be a cosy choice in the winter months.

Wonderful quirky, atmospheric pub , very friendly owners . We loved the free cheese and biscuits on the bar and had the best Moroccan vegetable tagine of our lives. Well worth a visit, great beer too !

We visited the white horse for a family wedding and the service, food and hospitality were fantastic. The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to make the celebrations perfect. I would recommend visiting this cosy pub that serve fab meals.

Really nice place to stay. Rooms clean and comfortable. Food really great especially breakfast.

The food was in general very good except for the burgers. DO NOT eat the burgers they are terrible and taste like kebab meat. The rest of the food was spectacular. The waitress who served us was very attentive and great at her job. Well done! The chef unfortunately did not like any sort of criticism about her food as we had suggested although the fishcakes were very good it did lack salt. She felt we didn't know what we were talking about as he Mum had said they were fine. Each to their own. I would definitely recommend dinner here as the atmosphere is wonderful and so is the staff.

We are regular visitors to the pub & just love going there. The atmosphere is ‘ old country pub cosy’ without the horse brasses. Andy & Justine are avid collectors & the pub displays lots of quirky & interesting Objets d’art Our roast chicken dinner was delicious. Vegetables freshly cooked to perfection. Delicious chicken. Nothing is too much trouble for A&J & staff & when I requested that I’d love stuffing to be included with roast I was assured they would start to include it. In this occasion we didn’t have a dessert but had a delicious coffee from their very high tech coffee machine. Very good value for money too ! We will be back ! 💙

This pub is 'a work in progress' the owners told us and it was evident the owners have worked hard both physically and imaginatively during the on-going Covid period to create a pub full of atmosphere. The outside belied the interior to reveal an excellently sized bar area, a restaurant, an unexpected little snug and tasteful decor. There was an excellent menu with well thought-out fresh ingredients resulting in us having tasty and beautifully presented meals. Thank you too to the chef who even took time to let me have my first taste of vegetarian ice cream! Thank you too to the outstanding young friendly and helpful waitress who we found out was balancing two part-time jobs and driving miles daily to study for a qualification. What an example to her contemporaries. We have overnight stays in our motorhome using BritStop so the parking areas at inns and other places are an important factor. At the White Horse we were given a large self contained area to ourselves which was well back from the main road so no traffic noise. The hospitality sector is struggling through staff shortages and loss of money yet the owners Justine and Andy Kemp know how to make people welcome and nothing was too much trouble to them.

Delightful, roadside rustic pub with good outside space (which would be improved with a little more tlc). Good range of beers.

Great food, beers on tap and outstanding chocolate brownies! Nice secluded beer garden too (covered and uncovered) for an outdoor drink

When I phoned to ask if coffee and brownies would be served a very pleasant lady said she would open a quarter of an hour early to serve coffee but no time to make Brownies as understaffed When we arrived our family group enjoyed coffee and amazingly delicious Brownies had been made ! Thank you so much.

The pub doesn't look up to much on the outside, I wondered if they were in the process of doing it up. Nevertheless, the food was good, the cider baked ham was delicious, and the staff were friendly and efficient.

We stayed locally and we're recommended the White Horse as a local pub serving food and drink close by to our treehouse stay. We were able to easily access the pub. We were able to watch the football where the atmosphere was great, the locals were friendly, the pub allows dogs too. Great food, great drinks, reasonably priced, beer garden, what more do you need. The owners were also really welcoming and their dog was cute too so big bonus! Thanks for having us.

Fantastic food at reasonable prices, and beautiful pub. Owners also allowed us to overnight in our motorhome in the car park.

Best pub best vibe best dart games

2people without reservation could not be accommodated May 30th 1430 by an obviously stressed and brusque host. Looked nice enough place but we felt truly put in our place for not abiding by rules we could never have known. The reviews elsewhere here give a clear picture of this locally focused venue. "You're not from round here are you?" 🤣

Booked a table for early Friday evening as we were staying nearby. Nice welcome, table ready and asked to log in with the NHS track and trace app which was good. Mrs had a burger with added cheese and bacon. All good especially the chips and homemade coleslaw. I had salmon fishcakes, new potatoes and salad with a white wine and dill sauce which was excellent. All washed down with a couple of pints each of the blonde ale which was spot on. 10 out of 10 for everything and great value at just over £40.00. Would love to go back.

Booked following recommendation from friends. Food very tasty, nicely presented and plentiful! Service was slow, but not a problem. However almost zero Covid precautions other than hand sanitiser on entry (partly hidden) and tables spaced out. However, none of the staff wore masks/visors, waitress stood very close to us at the table, menus were reused without wiping and condiments were shared with no obvious cleaning. This was a shame, as the food was great and the precautions could be easily implemented.

This is our local pub and we have been here many times before the current owners took over. The owners now are VERY unwelcoming and only like their regular local customers. If you are passing through, DO NOT stop at this pub because you will not feel welcome. Never going back until they change owners. Justine is not nice

Could be a lovely little pub however Justine the owner is such a rude and unwelcoming person. Used to be a friendly pub under the old owners however Justine makes everyone who isn’t a regular local feel very unwelcome. Would definitely not recommend stopping here.

Me and my sister entered the pub and were refused service because I was apparently barred with no explanation? If the owners are willing to give me a good reason as to why I am barred I am happy to listen. However at the moment it’s a badly run pub with below poor customer service and I will never be returning.

Choose the white horse after looking at menus for pubs around the area. Glad we chose this one as food was great and good value for the portion. I had salmon fish cakes and husband had chilli con carne, with two pints 28.55. Friendly atmosphere and nice garden.

New people in, a complete turn around, four real ales in superb form, great live music, and great food!

A very nice spot of lunch today. We chose off the Pie Menu, perfect on a cold wet day.

I wrote in October last year that this pub was dead....it's now under new management and it's absolutely reformed. The new owners have rearranged the tables and decor and it's a warm welcoming pub that's a treat to visit. A credit to the area

Rightmove removals moved customers from Derby and Nottinghamshire to this well managed complex, attention to detail just brings this former mill to life.

Recently taken over, there is a good selection of beers wines and spirits available.The new owners are very welcoming, we are local and were hoping for the pub to be kick started and thats just what has happened.The food is very nice, my wife had chicken and ham pie and I had the burger very decent portion sizes so much so that some of the pie came home with us. The atmosphere is what you would expect with a country pub complete with a roaring log fire.I would recommend gving this a try and we will be returning.

Well we visited here today lunchtime 08/11/2019 after the pub had changed hands and reopened after nearly a year.Log fire burning,decent choice of Ales and other drinks.We weren’t disappointed, two pies-one rabbit with bacon & one pulled pork,one beef burger and one ham,eggs and chips,all yummy,good old pub type food favourites.Landlady and rest of staff all friendly and welcoming.We’ll be back.

The pub it self is a lovely pub but food was very sloopy and a bit expensive for what it was and management didt really seem to know what they were doin. The land lady seem to be very snappy when asked aboult something on the menu we wont be goin back

The food is good value pub food done well and there is a nice selection of beers. Don't expect little morsels served on a slate with dizzles of Jus but do expect decent portions of tasty food.

Newly opened a few weeks ago: We went for a meal and it was great! The homemade steak and kidney pie was simply deliciuos and the treakle sponge with custard to die for! The hosts were super friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the place and hope to stay there during our next visit.

Empty pub at 12.30 on a sunday. No food and only one beer on tap...this pub is dying, not helped at all by a surly barman Such a pity as it has great potential with a little effort

Came here for a Saturday lunch and saw a sign that says "no food until further notice." I believe it to be shut down.

We used to pop into The White Horse periodically for a quick bite but a few months ago this changed. The food is excellent and the price is very, very reasonable. We are always tempted to visit more!

The best pub in the area. Absolutely superb food - the perfect blend of chef par excellence and presentation, without losing sight of the fact that some people are hungry, and want a proper portion. So there may be some fancy trimmings and sauces (which suits me), but you can equally choose their fish and chips, which is unbeatable. Beer - three perfectly kept ales, all tasty with good hops, or more malted if you prefer, ranging from 3.8% to 5%, and a good selection of wines. I don't do lager so I can't comment, but the locals look happy on it. Finally, the pub is run by a charming couple - Louise is front of house, and James is the man behind the excellent food - they both make you feel very welcome, and nothing is too much trouble. Summary : this place is responsible for our best meals out this year. We've always been able to get a table, but it maybe a good idea to reserve first.

Over the last year, I have eaten at this pub about seven times, and never been disappointed. Louise (front of house) and James (brilliant chef) are the warmest most welcoming hosts, and the craft ale is perfectly kept.

I arrived here by chance, needing a rest. I collapsed on their lawn feeling unwell. I found them most caring and helpful, Louise Palmer found me a nurse, among their clients, to check me over, and they called an ambulance to come. Meanwhile they supplied me with delicious hot home cooked soup, hot liquid honey and care. James Cole also found me a B.and B. for the night. Thank you both for looking after me. Janet Landau.

I took a friend to The White Horse recently, for a celebratory birthday lunch. It was my first visit but certainly not the last. There was nothing to fault at all.

Travelling from Windsor to Cornwall, we searched for a dog-friendly pub about halfway on our journey.

A good solid Sunday lunch, nothing too fancy but v generous portions. Pretty workaday and rough and ready but friendly staff and locals. Only a couple of ales on tap but large selection of lagers.

Thank you to James and his Team for great Christmas Lunchtime. The turkey and roast beef melted in the mouth. Too much food and excellent prices. This is the first time in 40 plus years we’ve had lunch out on Christmas Day with the family, we will do it again now after today’s experience. Thanks again.

Out in the sticks but on the Cask Marque Ale Trail and deservedly so. Lunches are popular and well presented. The chef (and landlord) is not renowned for being garrulous, but the staff are affable enough.

Terrible! Will never set foot in there again! Food bland, under seasoned. Carpets filthy. Staff trying hard but under trained.

Fuimos a White Horse para una comida familiar después de entrar en la zona, y me sorprendió gratamente encontrar que no estaba muy lleno y el menú, aunque pequeño, tenía algunas comidas sabrosas y bien presentado. Con algunas buenas cervezas para acompañar! El pub en sí es pintoresco, pero tenía un ambiente encantador cuando fuimos allí, personal (Tim) era muy bueno y eficiente será definitivamente mi local! Así que si quieres una bebida o una comida deliciosa en un entorno agradable es el lugar para ir!

Fuimos a cenar con la familia en Semana Santa sábado por la noche. La comida estaba muy bien, teníamos una gran variedad de platos. El ajo silvestre y espinacas Sopa era preciosa, muy bien cocidos eran filetes, tenía espada y que estaba delicioso. El único...

Vine aquí con una familia de 6 personas que comen bastante exigente, que parecía disfrutar de la comida mucho.

Como el lugar que tenía intención de ir estaba cerrado, fuimos a almorzar. Menú excelente, deliciosa comida muy fresca, enorme pudin, encantador y volvería en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. A un precio muy razonable. Almuerzo para 2 con 2 platos, bebidas y cafés...

Loved this place, after trekking for what seemed a lifetime we settled down for some scoff at The White Horse. Staff were attentive, friendly and very patient considering as a group of 18 we'd been drinking all day! Had Wiltshire ham, egg and chips for my main which was good, however the star of the show was the Crispy Chilli Beef starter...was so good it made by bollocks tingle ;) To top off a fine evening we didn't even order a taxi, the landlord (what a hero) sorted us out with a lift home from the lovely Jill (hope I spelt it right)...not sure if it was the large amounts of Tequila consumed or not but I've decided I'm marrying that girl, might take her back there and we can have a Crispy Chilli Beef starter together! Wayne scores this place 10/10!

Pleasant staff. Ordered from the lunchtime menus £6.50. Absolutely dreadful. So called Wiltshire ham was pressed ham and unappetising. The chips appeared to have been re-heated, tasted horribly from old cooking oil.Definitely won't be going there again and I'm local, so know what wonderful food we have round here. Shame it's not reflected at The White Horse.
