The Golden Fleece, south chard in South Somerset

Myself and Sarah and out Dog Odie, have been here a couple of times now, and we absolutely love everything about it. Amazing room, Gorgeous breakfast, great host, beautiful surroundings, it's our go to place when visiting the area, highly recommend it.

Lovely B&B, great quiet location, easy parking. Big bath, nice breakfast delivered to my room nice and early before work. Nice view from the bed looking up the skylights.

Paul and Carol couldn't make you feel more welcome and Carol's full English breakfast is to die for. I don't think I have had better and we travel extensively. Thank you.

I was out having a celebratory drink for my friend’s birthday. We were appalled by the staff’s horrendous attitudes- one of my friend’s was physically manhandled in his chair as he was slightly blocking the fire exit, despite having no prior verbal warning to move. It really upset us as we were simply looking to have a chilled and friendly night. To add to this horrific affair, the other customers heckled abuse at us for no reason while the staff just stood and laughed.

We went here for a meal while staying in the area and had a very good, reasonably priced meal. The beer and wine was also good and well kept. We would highly recommend. We haven't stayed in the accommodation, but would consider doing so if visiting the area again.

A good menu served well by friendly staff. Good selection of beers and ciders to accompany your meal choice. Will definitely visit again.

Had an evening meal - good choice and each night they have special evenings- Tuesday is pie and a pint for £10. Really friendly staff - nothing is too much trouble - I had the salad and my husband had the steak - mine was excellent - fresh leaf salad with plenty of blue cheese and bacon and so tasty. My husbands steak was tender and juicy and perfectly cooked. It was a shame we had no room to try the cheeseboard- maybe next time!

5 nice ground floor rooms in courtyard plus camping and caravan facilities. Excellent pub grub with friendly staff especially the wonderful zjanet

Had a nice meal here and very friendly staff with attentive service. Food was good solid pub fare and drinks were well priced especially bottle of wine with many under £15 a bottle. Don't go with overly high expectations and you won't be disappointed.

Pequeño menú para un lugar pequeño pero todo se veía preciosa. El jueves es la tarta con patatas fritas o puré de patatas, verduras y una pinta por £10. 00. Bien vale la pena el precio.

Mi hija reservar una mesa, ya que había oído que hacen un muy agradable almuerzo vegetariano domingo. Cuando ella llamó habló con el chef quien dijo que si no como asado podía cocinar una alternativa, sin duda no hay muchos establecimientos que ofrecen ese servicio.Las comidas eran 2 vegetariano; asado, asado y patatas, una selección de verduras, vegetarianas salsa y budín de Yorkshire. Fue servido caliente y las verduras no eran demasiado cocido. Fue una comida sabrosa y una buena porción.Harina de carne de cerdo asado, con; muy crackly chispeante, asado y patatas y una selección de verduras. De nuevo fue una comida sabrosa y una buena porción.Salsas eran disponibles bajo petición.Para el postre teníamos y tarta cheesecake de fresa de arándanos con helado muy traviesos. La tarta estaba recién hecho y delicioso. Uno de nosotros tuvo apple cayera y crema, que era excelente.El ambiente era agradable y el personal era muy servicial.Estoy seguro que volveremos en el futuro.

Nos gustaría dar las gracias a la Golden Fleece para brindarnos la opción de carne, lácteos y huevos gratis opciones para el desayuno y las comidas de la tarde. Nada era demasiado problema. Cualquier pregunta que tenía con respecto a la comida fueron contestadas profesionalmente. Recomendamos comer aquí, especialmente si son vegetarianos, ya que el personal es enfocado en el cliente y la calidad de la comida es de un estándar muy alto. Había aprobado este lugar en varias ocasiones y después de leer las críticas, decidí probar llaméy hablé con una señora muy agradable que nos dijo que nuestra fiesta de seis sería bienvenido.Llegamos a encontrar un ambiente relajado y alegre ambiente, todo el personal fue muy amable y nos aseguraron que disfrutamos de una velada encantadora, la comida era deliciosa junto con el postre, que había terminado la comida bienen general una sabrosa comida en un ambiente relajado Inn gracias al personal por hacer que una experiencia agradable.

the restaurant was nearly full, it was a lovely atmosphere and the older waitress was very helful, it was a bit of a wait for the food to come but well worth waiting for, i had yummy lamb shank, dad a steak, Paul liver and onions.

El Golden Fleece fue recomendado por un amigo, así que reservamos para el almuerzo de domingo. El ambiente es acogedor, como el personal. Las comidas tomar un tiempo para llegar, pero las verduras estaban cocinados a la perfección como el resto de la comida. Disfrutamos el ritmo pausado y tenía espacio para el postre. El asado y postres eran excelentes tanto en calidad y relación calidad-precio. ¡Volveremos!

Acabamos de regresar de pasar dos noches caravanning en la parte trasera de este precioso bajo pub-clasificado! El camping Field es encantador y un escondite completa con la ventaja añadida de un perro un pub que sirve una buena comida tradicional. El personal muy agradable y atento garantizaba que se ocupó con nuestras preguntas sobre alérgenos paciencia! Los miembros de la C y CC pueden disfrutar hook-up y una ducha aquí por £12,50 por noche, que nos pareció que era una ganga. Volveremos.

Una velada agradable cena de fin de semana. El pub estaba ocupado, afortunadamente habíamos reservado una mesa. El personal estamos amable y atento. Nuestro delicioso, comida caliente era servido con una sonrisa y debo añadir que el pescado en pasta de cerveza era muy bien...

We went for a meal The Golden Fleece and they were very welcoming, the food was delicious and well priced. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Visited there on the 11th of January for a sunday lunch. Food was not exceptional and service was very slow. Will not be going there again.

We had our evening meal here as we stayed in one of their beautiful rooms.Food itself was average pub food, restaurant was busy as there was a party in.Shame we ordered a pint of guiness and we got a can.Staff were lovely throughout our visit and the pub is dog friendly which was great for us.

Had a great meal here, felt slightly like being in someone's front room eating but in a good way, all the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help.Defiantly one I will be recommending from now on.

We have been a few times before, always feel welcome. Food is excellent, service friendly and efficient. Try the steak and ale pie!!

Although the decor feels stuck in the 1970's, the food and service were excellent. Great steak and ale pie, really tasted the ale, and lemon tart was sweet and tangy. Would pop in again if in the area.

Brilliant home made food...not too expensive brilliant value!!! worth a visit the steak and ale pie is the best one iv had yet!!

This restaurant is situated on the main Axminster to Crewekerne road and has a beautiful camp site attached to it along with some luxury rooms to let. The interior of the restuarant is nicely decorated but sometimes lacks ambience depending on how many people are in. I was there with family on Saturday 16th August and it was fairly busy. The food is standard pub food but very well cooked and plenty of it, there appeared to be only one waitress but we didn't have to swift too long for our meal. Overall I would recommend this restaurant.

If you're old-fashioned like me, and rely on maps to know where you are and how to get there, don't try and find this pub - it is not remotely near South Chard. Apart from that the meal and breakfast were fine, and the rooms, newly converted from buildings at the back of the pub, are spacious and excellent. The barmaid, Anita, is fabulous and the place is highly recommended.

The room was excellent, everything provided, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was first class couldn't fault it one bit!!! Very quiet location, so most relaxing. Our evening meal was also very good, basic home cooked food well presented, hot and tasty. My husband can recommend the local Otter Ale. We were well looked after by the friendly owners and would recommend this place to anyone.

Went here for a family meal. Food is good although the potatoes could have been a little hotter and the chicken a little softer, but there was enough of it. As noted before there could be a bit more veg as that is my favourite part of any meal and these weren't overcooked. Staff are attentive without being over the top and we would happily go back again

We have had several meals here. The menu is a bit ordinary, but the quality of food is excellent. My only grumble is that you don't get enough veg unless you ask for a bit extra, not that this has been a problem. The blade of beef was fantastic and the rhubarb and strawberry crumble just gorgeous. We will be back!

We were in Chard staying with our son and his family, we decided to take them out for a meal as it was our 24th wedding anniversary, The Golden Fleece is one of the best places we have visited, the food was first class as well as the service and the staff. We couldn't have picked a better place, we will definitely be visiting the restaurant again.

We ate here one night while camping in Chard. Weather was awful, but the food here is lovely and the staff are very friendly. It was more like a cosy restaurant than a pub. Good size food portion, cooked well. Would definitley eat here again.

Stayed for one night and all really good with the room but the menu was a little ordinary and the pub more like a restaurant. Definitely great for B&B though.

We were in the area staying for a holiday and we had our two dogs with us. We always go in and ask if we can take them in before presuming. They were not only welcome if we had a drink but also a meal so they tucked themselves under the table and slept. We then enjoyed a meal of the best standard of any restaurant I have been to. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and were up for a chat if they had time. The dogs even got a dog treat after we had finished our meal. Needless to say after finding a gem like this we used The Golden Fleece, South Chard a few more times. Many thanks to you all.
