Didn’t enjoy the roast dinner. Wish I had the burger. Paid for a large roast and I’d say it was a small . 4 small roast potatoes a whole Yorkshire and some meat and vegetables. It was £5:75 more than a small which was 2 roast potatoes and half a Yorkshire 😂 and vegetables.when do you get half a Yorkshire.?🤷🏼♀️ Potatoes where hard like they had been cooked for a while and the Yorkshire was very well done and hard . Can understand the extra money from small to large.. I’m sure the roast potatoes were frozen.. wish I’d stay at home totally wasted my money could of done a lot better for less than £10 and saved myself over £30 . I know it’s very hard running a pub now a days but if you do a Sunday roast it’s got to be decent. Potatoes don’t cost a lot and I’d rather wait a while and get fresh food rather than food that had been kept warm for a while. Very disappointed

I stayed at their small campsite behind the pub in my motorhome. A very peaceful location with good amenities. The food was great too, moderately priced. The staff were a helpful and friendly bunch. If you have a long motorhome (mines 7 metres) Give them a call and they'll help you through the entrance, it's tight. Especially if you're solo like myself. I brought my dog who was most welcomed.

We came here for my friend’s birthday, having not been for a year or so. The staff were friendly and a nice young gentleman managed to squeeze us in. 2 of us had the burger and 2 had the curry. The food was very good but the curry came as one dish to share between 2 of us, this made it slightly awkward as there was no where near enough chicken for 2 people (and we have small appetites), we also didn’t choose to share and wouldn’t have ordered that if we had known. It was also £17 each so not cheap. To be fair the young man serving us brought us some extra sauce but it definitely put a dampener on what should have been a celebration. We left somewhat disappointed and still hungry, probably won’t be returning any time soon.

Stayed for a couple of nights on way back from picking up our vintage vw camper. Really relaxed experience and surrounded by beautiful countryside and historic villages. We ate some lovely food in the pub and drank local beers and ciders (Rosie’s Pig cider). I believe they also have a microbrewery as well. Will definitely recommend and will return to this historic pub near Yeovil.

I booked for the curry night. I was camping. It was initially advertised for £15 pounds and when I went it was then £17. They said they had made a mistake but they should have honoured the originally price. So the food….. I had the vindaloo . I had two pieces of meat in my curry so disappointing. The nan bread was shop bought. The mint dip was just mint sauce and awful. You can’t go wrong with mango chutney and shop bought poppadoms. I asked for more meat but was told there was no more. The supervisor did say he had taken a drink of my bill but I said I was not going to pay for the curry , I had sauce and rice. I was prepared to pay half which I did. I would not recommend the food there. Michael and Jo are really friendly but sadly the food was a real let down. My friend had gammon with potato wedges however they were not wedges but WARMED UP ROAST POTATOES FROM SUNDAY. However she did not want to complain.

We were in the area and happened across this place - it was a good find! Good varied menu (not the tired pub menus that you see all the time), and friendly service. Just back from a 4 night stay in their Shepherd Hut. The hut itself, is very well presented. Fully loaded with everything you could possibly need. Tea/coffee, water, towels, toiletries, even dressing gowns! Under floor heating, a wood fired stove and oil radiator (should it get nippy). If I had one piece of feedback, it would be to leave the storage under the bench and bed free for guests to store bags etc. the small storage cupboard by the door is very compact. The other facilities (toilet/shower block) were very well maintained, clean and well stocked. The duck boards in the showers were a welcome touch to give a dry area post-shower. I had seem some reviews mention that the facilities are mixed gender. This wasn't an issue for us. The diving walls between toilet and shower cubicles go all the way to the floor and are very high. Lastly the pub and staff. The pub itself is your typical country pub. Mind your head! Always busy, but service was quick. The food is good, well priced and the menu varied enough. The included breakfast had various options, if you opt for the continental, you may want to cross a couple of things off as there's a lot on offer! Where I found they really excelled was the staff. Everyone is super friendly, and I mean everyone! Attentive, chatty and just generally a nice team. Even when we came back after a day of motorcycling in the pouring rain, they put our soggy kit in their boiler room to help dry it out a bit. Absolutely above and beyond stuff. All in all, excellent all round. Not a single complaint. I'd happily come back and thoroughly recommend a visit if you're considering it. Next time I'll try one of their rooms.

We chose to stay on the campsite behind the pub due to its location and the ease of getting to Yeovil Hospital for an appointment. After waiting for a bus that didn't arrive Richard very kindly offered to drop us at the hospital. We cannot begin to say how grateful we were for this. In the evening we popped into the pub for something to eat and drink and everything was lovely (including all the gorgeous dogs). It is a lovely pub with amazing hospitality and food. My husband and I were here for Sunday lunch. The roast Beef that we both had was delicious, but unfortunately for the price of the roast £16.95, we didn't expect to pay another £4:50 for seasonal vegetables, our plate had roasted red onions on and a carrot, but what really was disappointing was not having decent mustard, (Harrisons satchet mustard) was absolutely awful, please don't let your selves down with cheap imitation condiments.

We camped for one night on our way to Cornwall. Very helpful staff who helped us find a better, more level pitch when I explained I suffer from vertigo. My only slight concern is that I'm not entirely comfortable with shared (ie both sexes) toilet/shower facilities, especially when there are just two toilets and two showers. I it's a personal preference thing and I totally understand that this is the best solution when space is so limited. We ate in the pub and the food was good. Standard pub fare, really, and there's nothing wrong with that!

Firstly what lovely staff. So helpful, welcoming and friendly. We chose this pub, due to the TripAdvisor rating, being dog friendly and thst it looked lovely on the outside. A traditional country pub and we hoped for great food too! However... They were terribly understaffed to cope with the amount of people there. We could hear other tables questioning missing items or wait time. Which meant it felt unorganized. My main criticism was I think they are trying too hard to make the food 'posher' crushed peas with my steak for example instead of normal peas. Although my steak was very nice, my husband's mixed grill was expensive for what it was. With dry, overdone meats. And again an odd combination e.g. pulled pork. It is important to perfect the basics before making improvements/adjustments to a menu. It was a shame as it has such potential. Generally clean and tidy with a nice little garden outside I really want to love it here. But eating out is expensive nowadays and a luxury. You want things to be spot-on and therefore enjoyable. I think we will try it again one day in hope we could give a deserved five stars.

What a great find, we had walked from Little Norton to the pub, a very friendly warm welcome was given with drinks outside before eating our pre booked Sunday lunch. It was definately one of the best we have ever had. Plenty of home cooked vegetables, huge yorkshire pudding and perfectly cooked beef/pork. Pudding was a very light bread and butter pudding with blackcurrant ice cream and sauce. Never thought of it before but a perfect combination. My partner had a pint of beer brewed in their own brewery onsite and was impressed with the taste and quality. Definately a pub to go to for a drink or a meal, the locals are very lucky to have such a pub in the village. Worth a visit but pre book meals as they get very busy.

They do straightforward pub food but also some of the dishes were really good chefy dishes - eg the gin cured salmon was the best we had had outside Scandinavia. It was our favourite pub and we visited three times, having the same welcome and good food on each occasion. This pub brews its own beer and this was nice to try. It even bakes its own bread, which you can buy to take away, which we did! We have two large hounds and there was plenty of space for them to lie down, and the pub had doggie treats for them!

There is nothing quite like a well run and well maintained old British pub and the Mason’s is an excellent example. On entering we were greeted like long established and valued customers by mine host, though this was our first visit. There is a warmth about the place that wraps itself around you as soon as you enter. It was a Thursday lunchtime, just after noon, but there were already quite a few customers drinking and awaiting their lunch. There was a buzz about the place and the background music wasn’t too loud. So far so good.

Did not look at the rooms available but I am sure they will be good quality due to the excellent standard and attention to detail shown. Thanks for a great stay.

Four of us went for a meal two nights ago. Everything on the menu looked great, and seeing the plates delivered to nearby tables made me really look forward to the food coming. I had a burger and it was absolutely delicious. The salsa was so good I would have liked to buy a jar to take home, unfortunately they do not sell it (yet?).

Came here Sunday evening with family. Myself and my sister-in-law had the roast chicken and lamb and my husband and brother-in-law had the burgers. Absolutely amazing food. I had half a chicken on my plate with an accompaniment of lots of vegetables. The burgers - well, I have never seen burgers as big as they were served. They looked mouth watering and were demolished within minutes. I would definitely recommend this establishment and would not hesitate coming back again. You will not be disapointed.

My wife and I visited the Masons Arms last saturday (29/6/2019) for a meal out. I am rating it in comparison to other pub/restaurants we have visited . ( It's not fine dining) . The service and welcome was excellent and I can't fault it. The food, we had the fish cakes and asked for skinny chips to be replaced by thicker ones - no problem. We both thought the food was excellent and it appeared to us that what other customers had was of the same standard. We are not big eaters now, so only I had a dessert. This was the sticky toffee pudding and again it was of excellent quality and quantity. We will definitely visiting again. I have read some reviews complaining of dogs in the bar, this is also a village pub and it is used by the locals and I don't see any reason why they shouldn't bring their dogs as long as they are well behaved. Which they were. Thank you all at the Masons Arms for a very good evening.

Booked online via their website or on here. Great place. Awesome food and service. Yes it was a quietish tuesday night, but that didnt stop the front of house and staff providing A1 service. This (included a communal lighter as i had forgotten mine). Produce from kitchen garden (where available). Great period thatched ham stone building, low beams and everything. Just go and have a drink and food. You will come away happy

A group of 10 of us descended on the Masons Arms having had a bad experience at another local pub. They did everything to accommodate us at one table and had us fed in no time.

We found this on TA, but it's not on the beaten track, so you need to go and find out. And when you do, you won't be disappointed!

Went for lunch with friends and had a lovely meal. Service was a little slow at times but there appeared to be a staff shortage causing at least some of that.

Beautiful pub in a gorgeous location. People were very happy to accommodate a coeliac for lunch and adapted a standard ploughmans lunch for me! Seem to have a lot of boxes ticked so far as amenities; b&b;, camping, food, on-site micro brewery, welcoming atmosphere & the best cherry & berries cider I've ever had!!. Currently middle of building a wood fired pizza area too. Five stars for everything..thank you!

This is our go to place for good food as we live close by. Paula and Drew are welcoming hosts. There was a cider festival on but we were served promptly. Place filled up quickly with largeish parties with tables already reserved but everything was under control. 2 roast porks (slow roast lamb was a special), a chocolate brownie for me and an apple bread and butter pudding for hubby. Delish as always.

Just had a lovely short break in our camper van staying at the Masons Arms. All very nice and clean on the camping side of things and special mention for the home brewed beer which was exceptional and the Sunday roast which was far better than usual Gastropub fare. Lovely walk to Montacute House and the area was beautiful.

Room was superb. Doggies very well catered for with beds, blankets and bowls. Bottled water and 2 beers in the fridge for the humans! It was so good to be able to take my dogs into the dining room. Food was first class! I ate far more than I usually do because it was so fresh and beautifully presented. Staff and owners were so friendly and eager to please. I tried their beer from their own micro-brewery and it was delicious! Try 'Roly Poly' - really tasty! Service was excellent - both for doggies and humans! I really cannot fault this beautiful place. They have a great little enclosure for dogs to run free, plus a fantastic camping area at the rear. The Mason''s Arms ticks all the boxes for me and my dogs. Will definitely return regularly!

My wife and I were new to Mexican cuisine, and so grateful for the advice from Matt the owner as to what to choose to both eat and drink. The food was so tasty, not too spicy, great quality and good value. The cocktail I had was delicious, and my wife loved the Mexican red wine she had. The atmosphere was lovely, nice music, attentive service. We will be back soon and can’t wait to try some other dishes on the menu. And drinks! Highly recommended.
