We called in for lunch and my wife chose lasagne and I the steak and kidney pie The servings were huge and probably the best home cooked steak and kidney I have ever had out. Served with pan fried veg and new potatoes it was excellent The lasagne was really good served with chops and salad We couldn’t eat any more as we were full. Excellent value for money. Friendly and quirky surroundings.

Visited with my daughter for my birthday. Lovely little place, friendly with a nice atmosphere. Decided not to have a starter as we could see the portion sizes in front of other diners! I had the Lyme Bay Scallops served with roasted veg and new potatoes whilst my daughter chose the lasagne served with chips and a salad. Food was plentiful, delicious and reasonably priced. We were advised by locals to go back to try the Sunday roast! Would recommend and visit again.

Had a wonderful meal last night at the famous Oscars Wine Bar in Crewkerne. This was its first night opening for food again following the pandemic, and I have to say that it was just as lovely as it has always been. Oscars, with Richard at the helm, offers such a welcome and relaxed atmosphere. The food is excellent and the staff are lovely, along with great prices and a good menu choice. Richard, so wonderful to have you back up and running again. Long may it continue!

Monday night in staying in Crewkerne, out of 4 pub/restaurants 2 were closed, another not serving food, the only other one fully booked, we looked like going hungry but the lovely manager in Oscars made us welcome and said we could bring in takeaway food if we were having a drink there. Nice bar, cosy atmosphere, good wine at very reasonable prices. He even gave us cutlery and napkins. Their own menu, served Wednesday to Sunday, looked great and if we are ever in Crewkerne again, we would definitely go for it.

A fab place for a drink in the outside courtyard or inside. There’s a wood burner outside in the covered area so perfect at this time of year. Taking their Covid responsibilities seriously, the landlord and staff are very diligent and there are clear processes in place To protect staff and customers. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. I have eaten here a number of times, lovely local food and great portion sizes. Landlord often has entertainment eg funfair type games, candy floss machines, pancakes etc going on usually for free!

Went here late last November for a Sunday dinner with my parents and kids when we'd had a big day out at West Bay and couldn't be bothered to cook. What a pleasant surprise! I always have reservations about Sunday roasts in pubs and restaurants, as they never seem to quite get it right. Be it overdone meat, non-crunchy roast potatoes or anaemic veg, there always seems to be something. But in fairness to Oscar's, this is one of only two places I've encountered (the other being The Water Poet in Bishopsgate, London) which makes a roast as close to your mum's as you're ever going to get. Combine that with a welcoming interior and very decent wine, and you're onto a winner. Well done, Oscar's!

We have visited Oscars Wine Bar on many occasions. Our favourite is Sunday lunch which we cannot fault. The big attraction is that the quality and quantity of the food is always the same. As one of several who have lunch regularly at Oscars, I was astounded to read that Alex was criticised, and by name. Alex is quiet, elegantly dressed and a beautiful young woman who knows her job and she does it well. All members of the bar staff are competent and follow the continental practice of keeping a "tab" of customers' drink and food orders then presenting the bill as they leave. Alex was not giving away drinks. Oscars is lucky to have her.

After a 22 mile hilly cycle circuit of Crewkerne we had trouble finding anywhere open for a 2.25 late lunch. As soon as we opened the door and entered Oscars rather dark cosy interior we suspected we’d found a gem. It’s a unique crazy and colourful place, very quirky. Feels like a pub but acts like a coffee stop/restaurant/wine bar, full of obviously local characters and their friendly dogs. It’s eccentric but has a superb menu. Husband had the biggest and best Ploughman’s we have seen in years served on a huge platter and I had a jacket spud which came with cheese and beans and an enormous salad which was unexpected. Their salad dressing is delicious, coffee was good too. Great fun and good value for money. I’m going back in July and treating my mum to lunch!

My husband and I popped in here on a brief stop over in Crewkerne as it was just over the road from our hotel. Up the alley way at the side of the bar they had a pop-up cocktail bar and were playing music. There was also a nice touch of a juke box in a phone box. We sat inside, it was quite dark but this made it cosy. It seemed to have a steady trade all night as we propped up the bar chatting for a while. The bar staff seemed polite and friendly and even when my husband complained about the taste of the cider they changed it with no fuss and said they’d had a problem with the barrel but they thought it had been fixed. They took the cider off straight away. Lovely little find, that we would go to again.

Four of us went to this bar for Sunday lunch. Never been before and had booked for 1315hrs. We arrived just before our table was booked and we were seated and our drinks order taken straight away. Two of ordered beef and specified how we wanted it cooked, two of us ordered the chicken. Our food was delivered on large tray with a whole chicken, a large selection of veg including roast potatoes. We received 6 large slices of beef. A full large jug of gravy. We managed to devour most of this dinner but the ladies did leave some of the chicken. We were given silver foil to wrap the chicken remains to take home. After the table was cleared we ordered sweets. Two of us having the apple crumble and two of us the bread and butter pudding. The sweets came with a large jug of very hot custard. We were not rushed at all and the staff were very helpful and good at there job. One of nicest Sunday Lunches I have had in years and all at a very reasonable price.

Well, we'd read the other Tripadvisor reviews, so we had a good idea what we might be letting ourselves in for. This is not a quiet, comfortable, high class eatery. It's not even a wine bar, as such. Its a pub with grub. Our estate agent girlfriend said it would be great - but then she is a young 20-something year old, and probably enjoys the atmosphere. We're not stuffy but when the local farmhands get lary and inebriated (with language to boot), it's not enjoyable. Oh, and the wine list (for this Wine Bar). Nothing on the list is available, so don't bother looking at it. All the wines are being changed (apparently) so the list isn't accurate. Ordered a New Zealand SB and a Chilean bottle was plonked on the table whilst the waitress went to get a huge bucket of ice and water. Not satisfied with the Chilean offering, I asked for the NZ, to be met with a snort and a huff, as she sauntered off to find one. I got one in the end, but not the one listed. I think that the owner is the chef, and the food was delightful and humungous in size of portions. The starters are very large (for starters) and then the main meals are also large - 10 fresh scallops per person is lovely, but a huge quantity to eat. This place could learn a lot by attending a customer care course - unless you're a farmhand, in which case it may suit you.

Booked a meal here as localish. Knew no one who had been but on looking at the menu it appealed to us a lot. Lots of seafood!!!!Booked a table and it was all ready. Very traditional quirky place very welcoming and good 1st impression.3 of us chose starters and mains. Water was placed on the table which is always a good thing without having to ask. Wine list was vast and house wine a plenty in choice and mega value at £11 per bottle. The starters were fab. Large, well presented, and served with a homely hot bagette. Scallops were lovely and tasty and excellent value as was the red wine mushrooms.A little disappointed we had to reorder our plaice fillets as plaice has not been delivered and the alternative fish was somewhat unheard of by any of us!!Chose calamari which was lovely, lightly battered and served with sidesalad and a huge bowl of chips. Lasagne was good size portion in individual serving dish which was lovely touch. We couldn't fault the service, the food or the place the only fault was............... they fed us so well we didn't reach the puds!!!!!!An excellent night will certainly return lots!!!!!!!!!

This is another regular(ish) haunt of mine. Very lively atmosphere, outside off road seating area, fantastic value, huge food portions so be prepared. Great place to meet for a drink, very much part of the community especially when events are taking place in the town centre. Richard who owns it is a stalwart member of the community & a great character.

I'm not usually a "Wine Bar" sort of a guy but Oscars looked more like a pub when I peeked through its front door than some trendy townie place to be seen. A quick perusal of the handwritten (always a good sign) specials menu leaning inelegantly in the doorway made my lunch decision - "Lyme Bay Scallops (starter) with French Bread and Salad."A pint of perfectly good local(ish) beer, served by the rather delicious barmaid, and a place to tie my horse up (pic #3) in the back courtyard were bonuses. It seems Oscars was formerly an antique shop and judging by the eclectic décor and bric-a-brac it looks like the present owner got the shop lock, stock and barrel. The result is a characterful, intimate, front dining room with a mish-mash of furniture and a little, well-stocked, bar in one corner. "Wine Bar" is certainly not the term I'd use to describe the place.Out back is the cobbled alley of Victoria Mews where the outside seating catches the lunchtime sun and where you can tie your horse up and should you wish to do a bit of time travel there's a Tardis at the far end (pic #4).Service throughout was friendly, swift and smiling and later that afternoon whilst I was sitting with a beer outside the George the rather delicious barmaid passed by and gave me a cheery wave.My starter portion of scallops were just what I required for a light lunch - four plump, juicy, specimens, perfectly cooked in a VERY garlicky butter. A decent chunk of fresh-out-of-the-oven baguette and a simple side salad completed the meal and for just under 8 quid was perfectly good value for money.

After pre-ordering £50 of food I went to collect it, and asked for a bag seeing as there was so much of it. I was told they were 20p. I asked to pay this by card, they said no, not for that amount. I asked what I would need to buy in order to purchase the bag. They said that wasn't the point. The conversation apparently over, I waited for them to give me the bag. Instead, the woman simply said 'Shall I open the door for you?' Reader, I declined.

It's cheap. But it doesn't mean it must be so low quality. You enter your room through cheap plywood doors, ones you install as a temporary solution on the building sites. Room was cold as old not maintenated rooten window had broken lock. And as it's a sash window, it was open throu the night. Standard heaters were not enough to keep you warm so you have to use privided by them - I kid you not - industrial blower. It's as loud as hair dryer and you are force to either sleep with it on, or wake up cold and possibly with a flew. The bed has dip so big on side side I rolled downhill somehow through the night from the ether flatter end of the bed and woke up with backpain. It was refurbrished by somebody who clearly either didnt care or had no clue how to do it. Mould in corners, cracks, not finished surfaces, absolutly cheapest possible materials and approach to build it. I mean, it's not hotel room but cheap cheap accomodation for workers. I was tempted by good pub reviews and hoped I found a good room in good price. Boy was I wrong.

I’ve been a member of the gym for several months now and I couldn’t be happier with my experience! Simon and Gemma are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help with any questions or guidance—they’re dedicated, professional, and truly took the time to understand my fitness goals. As a person in their seventh decade, with a hip replacement, my trust in their professionalism and knowledge is vital to ensure my gym experience and activities are appropriate for me. Simon and Gemma have created a positive and motivating atmosphere, there’s a real sense of community, and that makes it such an enjoyable place to work out. I would highly recommend the gym to anyone looking for a great place to stay fit and achieve their fitness goals. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete, you’ll feel welcomed and supported here.

We had a very warm welcome at the White Hart. Our room was spacious, clean and warm - but it could do with some updating e.g. the basin had a crack in it, the shower had a bit of mould, and the shaving light didn't work. The decor looked tired overall. We had a very nice breakfast (again, the dining-room could do with a bit of redecoration) - but it was served with great enthusiasm and cheefulness!
