Gordons in South Somerset

Just small chips today. Service was pleasant and friendly, got there as they opened, served straight away no messing. Plenty of people followed in behind me. So chips are good, not top tier but about average of what I expect. Small portion, £3.20, was good amount, better than a lot of chippies. All edible unlike last place I went too, no green or black ones. Will come again and next time try something with the chips. Overall prices seemed well priced.

Excellent service, really quick service, food is great , friendly staff and helpful staff. We live the opposite side of town with quite a few chip shops nearer but we always travel to use Gordon's 🙂 5*

Very friendly staff, Joe is training two new girls atm, when I went in there it wasn't that busy luckily ( I got a sausage for the dog too ) My Cod 'n' Chips were freshly cooked and were to die for, as usual. I'm sure glad their shop isn't that far from me.. I've seen their shop with a queue out of the door, even in the cold of winter..... Lovely food from lovely people. Thank you......

Best fish and chips this side of Yeovil

Extremely rude don’t recommend. Got a really upset phone call from my younger sister telling me how she went into the chip shop and one of the workers turned around and said “i’ll give you a little bit more because you’re too skinny and need to eat more” and then the rest of the workers proceeded to laugh. What kind of customer service is this?! Vile behaviour. This made her feel embarrassed and upset. Making comments on someone’s weight is unacceptable ESPECIALLY when it’s a bunch of grown adults teasing a young girl. Absolutely horrible.

A good sized portion of fish ( cod) large chips and fragrant curry sauce. The chips were perfect - no clumping together, the cod was very fresh with a light tempura-like batter. Tasty curry sauce. A tad expensive at £13.50 Friendly service.

On my humble expectations of "take away food" I find that Gordon's is top notch in yeovil.food always hot and cooked well 👍

Lovely place.bit of limited menu but friendly quick service.used them for years and the fish isnt greasy.

Well what can I say !! Just had the worst fish and chips ever 😩thought I'd treat myself after being to the gym but when I got home and started tucking into the fish it was soo dry and chewy and the batter was burnt 😖I know exactly what has happened they have just warmed up the fish from lunchtime I'm guessing so no food is waisted 🙄which is soo wrong I know the cost of living is high but don't expect your customers to suffer especially when paying good money for it . Well I'm soo disappointed and angry if I wasn't soo tired I'd of taken it back. Don't think I'll be going there again for a long while.😒

This is not a good fish restaurant. Had a takeaway recently. The chips were soggy and the batter on the fish was a light brown colour. (dirty oil?) I will not be returning any time soon.

Good tasting and affordable food from a friendly local chippy. Would come again!

Foods not shree bad but couldn't understand a word I was being spoken so I decided to make it easier by pointing at the items on the menu lol needs attention but apart from that not bad

There seems to be a trend over the years with fish and chip shops in Yeovil,competing for star ratings and the crown of "best in town" fish and chips establishment, Gordon's has been the top for a while but IMHO that crown has gone to Wessex fish bar.Gordon's cash only policy is little inconvenient in this day and age and limits how you pay,you could use( for a fee) the cash point in the near by shop or post office but not ideal,the portion size has got slightly smaller and the cod is not quite how it use to be compared to Wessex road which is noticeably fresher,more flaky and tasty.

I have never been disappointed with food brought from here.

Usually a lovely fish and chip but tonight's was quite greasy and the fish was quite thin. Usually very good but tonight not so. But that's only my opinion and it won't stop me going back

The only queue I don't mind standing in. The ladies here work incredibly hard, they're also all friendly and polite.

Disappointing - we won't bother again. Although the chips were ok, the fish tasted stale and the batter was soft and greasy.

great food, portion sizes are big and prices are fair. good customer service too. we always choose Gordon's.

Chips were oily and slightly underdone. Battered sausage was tasteless. Saw them put salt on but again had no taste. Had to add my own.

Would rate 5 star if only they took card payments Not helpful nowadays to expect customers to carry cash Otherwise food is good much better portions than palmers

I ordered 18 portions of fish and chips for a small social gathering. They were freshly cooked and ready bang on time. Everyone agreed that they were good quality and at a reasonable price.

Cod was nice, good portion, friendly staff BUT the chips were awful. Soggy, mushy mess, Some were more raw than cooked. Not sure if it was just a off day as have used them before

Not the closest by location but certainly preferred over some of the better-known chippies in the town. Worth a visit!

Best Chippy in Yeovil - Super Quick - The Cod is Twice the size of what you get at Palmers. Gordons will also cook you Cod fresh if you don't mind waiting.

This is a traditional Fish and Chip takeaway shop. We have used Gordon's Fish and Chip shop for many years, particularly after evening kayak sessions. Their Chicken Nuggets are real chicken brest, freshly fried and the portions are very tasty and generously sized - large chips really does serve 2 people. The service is friendly and the only issue is the popularity, which makes evening queues an occasional problem. The children will not let us go to other chip shops (unless this one is closed!) All in all, highly recommended

If you want great chips visit the shop at the top of Glenthorne Avenue. Although a vegetarian, so we do not eat fish or other dead, animal shop products they do sell the best chips in the area.

Dreadful. Ordered 4 cod and chips, 1 saveloy and 2 curry sauces. Every one of us had diarrhoea today. The saveloy was also cold. The food was served instantly so want freshly cooked and the chips were reheated as very dark. Awful.

Here again while house and cat sitting for friends - recommend the haddock, and the chips - and the friendly staff - and the value - could go on!

my son stayed with us in july and he had 2 meals with us from glenthorne. he enjoyed them very much as we always do. staff friendly and food cooked very well.

had large fish and chips, for my wife , and I had a piece of chicken, which was cooked fresh for me ,whilst I waited, excellent meal, with a tub of mushy peas, great.
